I'm a guitar beginner here. My first exercise would be to grow my nails, just kidding :) I really enjoyed your video and I also saw your book on the web. Congrats. I'd like to buy it for my iPad so I can notate some Chords on top of the exercises with my iPad pencil. I wouldn't do that in a real book. Question: When I buy it, will I get it in a digital PDF format for my iPad, or will be as paperback? Thanks
Forgot to mention. I met Segovia in Germany around 1977. We conversed for about 30 minutes. I was discouraged when he told me he practiced every day 4 to 7 hours!!
@@johnjomp I just turned 71 and started lessons 2 years ago. My instructor decided to retire from teaching and concentrate on performance, so I am going to be looking for a new teacher. I just stumbled across these videos, but just started working on a classical piece that made me realize I really like classical.
It is because of people like you, those who like sharing their knowledge to all, that too without charging anything, that I still have faith in humanity. Thank you dear angel.
Thanks for the exercises! Here are some time stamps for reminders what to do when practicing (do watch the whole video for full explanation!) Right hand balancing (i-a, m-a, i-m) 1:32 string changing (i-a, m-a, i-m) 2:34 highlighting (i,a,m,p) 6:50 arpeggio 8:02 rasgueado 11:59 tremolo 14:45 Left hand spider walk 16:08 hammer on (all finger variations) 17:45 pull off 20:35 bar chords 23:34 stretching 26:52
This is brilliant. All the exercises are relevant short cuts to whatever style of music you prefer: classical, rock, metal, jazz etc. But as with all 'technique' exercises - never forget the ears. Let the ears in on every note or sequence of notes played, because it teaches the ears the subtle nuances important when performing or composing. Every note sends a single message, every sequence of notes sends a sentence, every nuance alters the meaning of the sentence. So never ever forget the ears when practising. Lots of love, Bea, for a brilliant video. Wish there'd been a guitar tutor like you when I wanted to learn to play the guitar.
I am not a classical player, but I will incorporate these exercises to my routine on steel string; I feel like it's going to boost accuracy and speed especially on my left hand (right handed) because I don't like using a plectrum when playing, I need to feel the strings :) Thank you so much for the free lesson maestro!
Thank you for taking the time to help others learn guitar. I make beats mainly on my laptop using a midi controller keyboard. I realized that most of the music I hear in my musical imagination, sounds like a r&b, blues, gospel, neo soul guitar player. These exercises and your teaching style, will help me manifest what I hear in my musical imagination. Keep up the great work! Peace an blessings to you and your family.

These are some good precision building exercises! I'm getting back into classical guitar after 16 years of not playing, and I've been trying to refresh my memory of what kind of exercises I used to do in the past. After watching lots of videos on different channels, I can say this one fits what I need the best. Simple and effective, to get the fingers going after a huge break. Thanks!
That's me! That's me! " Aspiring musician." One day. I was looking around your Etsy store. People that can take greasy, colored oils and smear them around on canvas, and make beautiful artwork are truly blessed.
Wow thank u so much for these exercises!! I picked up guitar 7 months ago and I just love it. Finger picking is my fav. My brain became better since I play guitar 😊
This is amazing! You are amazing! It sounds so fast, but you are clearly using technique to play super fast, but at a comfortable pace. Its so awesome. Like a controlled chaos. I cant decide which is more beautiful, you, or the music you make. ❤ thank you!
Hello Beatrix. You did a great job of distilling classical guitar technique down to a few essential exercises. I’ve shared the link with several of my students. Thank you for what you do.
Thanks for this and other videos. It is so nice to see a beautiful young lady so dedicated to our beloved instrument. We love guitar! Brava! Bravissima!❤❤❤
Good day or evening again, had the opportunity to watch video again with more concentration. As I am assembling a ukulele for seven year old granddaughter. She loves guitar therefore I am trying to give her the opportunity for all music as well including piano. And as she grows /matures somewhat as a child that is, she can enjoy your videos videos,or I can teach her some of what you have Thank you again and thank you for making it lighthearted with some humor and laughter that takes the edge off! :-) Keep up the great work thank you again stay well have a beautiful day👍🙏
excellent minimalistic approach. i have been playing classical for decades, mostly 3 hrs a day, but never really practiced exercises. you video has inspired me to dedicate time to it. i now think it will be most helpful. thanks.
these are high level exercises even though they appear really basic at first, but they build precision and control which is near impossible to reach with just casual playing. Thank you

Thanks, Beatrix - these are fantastic! (Although I have to confess, that final left-hand stretching exercise is a chop-buster for me...) I hope you don't mind if I share this with my students...
Very interesting the way you explain good teacher and a lot of variations of exercises for both hands congratulations you are the best 🙏🏼 blessing thank you 👍🏼😎🎼🎵🎶
Thank you Beatrix for an essential and useful guide (having tried ad-hoc practice of things like Segovia scales, tremelo speed, master player style guides etc.) Stiff fingers from moving rocks and slate and gripping tools in the day is my biggest hindrance to speed, although they have good strength💪
Try to relax more and more, tension sneaks in all the time so you have to pay attention. Your a strong dude already so trying to be as light as possible will help you a lot.
@@ArtRodent I work with my hands a lot too, and am constantly amazed at how much extra tension I exert. Sometimes I literally practice playing as piano as I can and pressing as lightly as I can until the strings start buzzing just to train a feel for the minimum necessary. As posture and precision improve you also become more efficient. Good luck! It's a lot of fun.
Hi there, Beatrice or Beatrix...??? I love your YT channel's content. My father is a classical guitarist, and he started teaching me from the moment I could hold a guitar, I'm very blessed because he's absolutely phenomenal. I was a rocker at heart and I started teaching myself rock, metal, blues, jazz, etc from an early age, I went to school for music, was offered a scholarship for voice, I write amazing instrumental music that is a little bit of everything, including finger-picking, kind of reminiscent of Progressive Rock with powerful guitar parts, strong vocals, and a lot of very melodic rhythms that tend to take the listener on a journey, and then I shred leads over the top... anyway... I have been watching your videos off and on for a while, and I must say, you are amazing!!! So, since I recently started getting back into working on my music, I have gotten a lot of benefit from your videos. That is very meaningful and important to me, and I truly appreciate you. So... THANK YOU!!! Btw, your command of the English language is very impressive. Please don't ever worry about annunciation. We know what you're saying, and your accent is cute. I mean that in a very platonic way. Bless you
Thanks Jeff for sharing this, I am so happy to be part of your journey! I'm happy my english is okay, I know it's understandable but it's like a personal goal of mine to improve it as much as I can for just fun I guess.
