Because it IS scary! Imagine your house having a door that shouldn't be there, leading to absolutely empty rooms and hallways that are similar to your interior, but still different and you don't know what it leads to and how big it is and if there's someone or something sinister or not
I believe it is both interesting and absolutely horrifying I mean the house groans and changes let alone the fact its already a non-euclidian space, which is pretty scary on its own
Dude i remember watching a video about the books, then a couple of months later and it pops into my head, I went searching and searching until I found it, I bought it but I haven’t read it yet, it’s an amazing book from what I’ve seen
The concept is Interesting indeed. Scary? Not really. Eerie, sure. Giggleish fun even , not close to scary though, seriously... Fun...House...it only needs a turn-table room and a disco-ball blacklight room and it's a rave house...of course, reading the story twice or thrice changes it completely...and causes Visits to Your Local Library.
I've never heard of House of Leaves before, but this reminds me of something from my youth. When I was 11 years old I was convinced that there was a room between me and brother's room, and that I went in it one night. It was empty except for a red metal bunkbed, a gray carpet, yellow plastic toybox, and a tv with a VHS player. The light from the single window suggested it was the afternoon, which immediately creeped me out, so I went back to my room. The next morning I tried to find it and the door was gone. Obviously, I must have dreamed it, but the memory is still incredibly vivid after 17 years.
This should get more views. Honestly it's weird how everyone is so obsessed with liminal spaces and backrooms but no one mentions House of Leaves. I consider it the beginning of non euclidian spaces in media
it's interesting to see people's takes on the 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦, since everyone views it so differently. In my head it's like a cellar, with walls, roof, floor made of cement, and at times even frosty as it's so cold in there (~10C from what i remember). for me the hallways are also wider and most rooms have no doors. i haven't finished the book though so it might influence my view on it.
I also see the house that way. There is no trim, no nice flooring, just a brutalist ash, with the foreboding chill of something lurking just beyond the darkness
@@kjdubs5877 exactly! it feels more eerie and even alien when it's just the bare bones or what we know, more like a storage cellar than a living space. familiar, but not homely
@@kjdubs5877 you see it that way because that's how its described in the book. there's that long segment listing all the things that are NOT used in its construction. one of them is wood. everything is an unknown near-black material.
You can't really have an opinion about it, as the way the place looks is accurately described in the book. Ashen walls made of stone (Navidson carbon dated the stone, even), same for the floor and ceilings. No wood, no carpet, no features whatsoever.
Fantastic work. Just found this and your previous video while searching if anyone had made anything like this after rereading the book. Really cool work here with the animation. My only suggestion is to maybe try to have more cinematic angles in the future since the book mentions so much how Navidson's footage is particularly pleasing to look at from a visual framing standpoint.
this is amazing, the only issue I really had was that the spiral staircase wasn't as grand as I remember it being described in the book as being extremely wide with a massive pit in the center instead of the pillar you have. Other than that though, this was absolutely amazing
I don't think anyone could capture the scale of the staircase. Remember what happens when a coin is dropped; the space is infinite...except for when it's not.
This completely dropped my jaw, i'm only halfway through the book but have constantly been trying to visualize it and this is exactly how I imagined it. Big ups my friend this is excellent work
Not a perfect adaptation, but I honestly don't think there can be a perfect adaptation. Definitely intriguing though and I've subscribed, hoping to see more. I suspect sooner or later someone will accuse this of being a ripoff of the Backrooms, when in fact this one came out way sooner.
@@llonyarz so cool but I think you can still improve a bit, that five minute hallways feel a bit weird in the exterior, it feel blank a bit with not a lot of stuff. But if you find a way to make it more realistic and all it can be perfect!!
@freddydeath3301 hey thanks for the feedback! Yeah i know what you mean. To be completely honest, im pretty brand new to 3d Animations. This has been my first project where i have something thats presentable. But im learning more everyday so ill definitely be reflecting that in my work!
@@llonyarz it's okay, I was thinking that but if think you should practice with other project to learn different things before making all of the Navidson record.
@freddydeath3301 yeah thats kind of where im at right now actually. Which is why i put out the 1st part of exploration a and not the whole thing, since i realized theres several things id need to improve upon.
This literally matches a dream I had where I opened a door in my room to see a dark empty hallway, Then suddenly got exterme dread and heard inchorent screaming of a women sounding voice. I saw other door leading to rooms before I slamed It shut locking It. What worse It felt like something hijacked another dream as the 2nd one acted like "WTF was that???" then I woke up. This was before I even knew HoL beyond It being a weird haunted house story.
Am I the only one who found the book more interesting than scary? These videos perfectly recreate the book but they make it so much scarier!

Agree. House of Leaves preceded both backrooms and found footage stuff and is so much scarier. Love this book
The beginning of non Euclidean spaces in media was Lovecraft.
@@mabeylane7163right? he’s the reason we even use that terminology for it

The absolute shiver that went down my spine as the howl echoed in the darkness, this and the previous piece are superb 👍

Yeah I never comment on anything on TH-cam.., but please as someone obsessed with house of leaves please continue these.
This was very well done, but it makes me wish for a high budget navidson record
god it makes my skin crawl i love it
I was wondering when the protagonist is not alone when that horrifying sound happened which somehow puts him in a more perilous situation now.

Great work! Just finished the book and you filmed it how they described it perfectly.
Did you hear the -MINOTAUR- ?
I wonder how would the Minotar be and who, since according to Zampano, he's a misunderstood creature

I just finished the book! Couldn't of picked a better time to find your channel!
excellently made!!
keep going.
This is great ! Since I’ve read the book I’ve been waiting for someone to do this type of video, amazing
Very good adaptation
Wow, you did an amazing job with these. Keep up the great work!
Great stuff!
i'm surprised it took this long for someone to make something like this. great job!
It should all be black once he enters the corridor. no white baseboards or doorframes, no brown laminate.
Originally i was going for that, but once i made it, the vhs effect made it really hard to tell whats going on 🥲.
