I honestly don't see the point in remaking the Lion King. With the other two remakes it kind of made sense. There was a huge passage of time between the two Disney Cinderella movies and the two Jungle Book movies. Lion King? Its only just over 20 years old. And its one of the highest grossing animated films. Why? Because its original. It's not a fairy tale, its not some random mythology tale, its original. Most of the films that they have done recently (apart from Moana as it was based on Polynesian mythology) have all been original. So instead of doing an original idea, they are remaking the most well known Disney animated film?! While I enjoyed the Jungle Book remake and think that it is better than the original (for many reasons), I am not going to see the Beauty and the Beast remake, Cinderella remake or the Lion King remake (I have seen Maleficent and to be honest, did not like it at all).
@Sling Ding They are not stuck in the past. They expect better from Disney than mediocre remakes in apparent cash grab nostalgia. +Tyler I never said they didn't have original content. I am just saying I wish they didn't make remakes at all(and just original stuff) or at least wait until the movie is 40 years old or more. Besides why would you make a "live action/cgi" hybrid movie for something that has zero humans in it, Lion King works best in 2D animation always will. I don't think the medium works for the Lion King. At least the Jungle Book had a human named Mowgli and was a much older property. Plus the original Jungle Book is a book not a movie so another movie of it would make sense, it wouldn't even necessarily count as a remake of a movie since it started as a book. The Lion King on the other hand started off as a 2D animated movie. A Jungle Book movie could potentially be seen as just another interpretation of the novel while another Lion King movie would be always be seen as a rehash of an older movie. Why not get excited you ask? Why should I get excited about something that I don't think will work.
the fact that people can't see just how scummy this movie actually is is just sad. any comment section has a bunch of shills considering this dumb cgi to be "high definition", and treating the original like it's inferior because it was animated

They always use the same clichés, same character types, same scenarios; it's so predictable. I don't know how anyone can watch movies nowadays. I've also heard that these Blockbuster movies they keep making are purposefully dumb down so that it can be easily relatable to other countries, because that's where they make the most profit.
That's why I was glad to see Onward, Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto, and why I'm so hyped about DC League of Super Pets and Luck! Because those are ORIGINAL ideas!
I agree. Like you I rewatched the classic Lion King during its 3D re-release and it was amazing! I really loved the flying scenes of Zazu since the 3D was really good. To me a remake is just pointless. It'll never be as good as the original no matter how hard they try much less surpass it. I'd much rather they make a prequel Lion King movie staring Mufasa and Taka/Scar as cubs with the story being told through a young Scar's eyes. To me that would be far more interesting than seeing a shot by shot cgi remake. So like you I will just enjoy my Bluray disc of the original and just watch it over and over and over again since it is so awesome while everybody else goes to see the remake. However, I will probably check out some of their other live action remakes since I do not see all of them as pointless. I hope to see the new Jungle Book movie since I have not gotten a chance to see it yet and I keep hearing a lot of good things about it. I want to see it before some jerk spoils it for me.
I heard that 'Be Prepared', one of the best villain songs of all time, was scrapped. If this is true I won't be seeing this movie. Be Prepared is my favorite villain song.
It actually wasn’t scrapped; they only had it in the film for one minute and made Scar talk his way through it instead of singing it, which is worse than cutting it.
I guarantee the upcoming Lion King remake will not surpass the original especially if it isn't even a musical. It's impossible. Btw I also was one of those people that saw The Lion King in 3D when it returned to theaters. As you said it was amazing! It really is ridiculous and pointless to remake this one since all of the characters are animals! No humans at all, so technically it won't even be live action. Instead it will be a cgi cartoon with live action backgrounds. /shakes head/ So dumb! And prospects for the so-called live action Lion King remake is made all the more pointless and irrelevant with its new animated adventure series, The Lion Guard; which in my opinion is actually a pretty good series even with some plot holes made by the show's existence.
It really shows Disney gave up being creative anymore, and just decide hey, lets remake all animated movies from the 90s instead of making more new stories. Mr. Walt Disney would not approve.
I feel the same way,I don't like live action movies so I rather see a animated one,the lion guard is good but it makes the lion movies have questions like how come it was never mentioned? or where's kion when stuff was happening in the lion king 2? I loved those movies and the lion guard so I kinda want to see those questions answered
That's bacisally what it'll be! Since all the characters are talking animals and most of the setting will be CGI anyways, "live action" is a blatant lie. This won't be live action Lion King, it'll be CG Lion King.
Disney can do better. We've seen that in the work from Disney Animation. Where fun and inventive films like Tangled, Zootopia and Moana were crafted and have joined the ranks of some of Disney's most beloved animated classics. The main issue is that the animation arm of the company really seems to be the only one where genuine creativity and originality is celebrated.
Even with Moana, it still shows that the fun, sweet, charming, passionate and creative Disney we all know and love still lives and will always be with us until the day we die.
Frozen,Moana and Zootopia are the worst movies ever. They don't even come close to being better as princess and the frog or tangled. Frozen along with Zootopia and Moana were Trashy movies.
I can understand Frozen and a bit of Moana, but Zootopia is one of the most original works ever. Frozen and Moana are at least films that do show that Disney is just like I said in my previous comment.
I think Disney is getting lazy nowadays. I mean why are they remaking every bloody film that they made from the past. Why not do original films instead of remaking films that we know and loved as a kid. I hope The Lion King is good but COME ON you can NEVER beat the original 1994 one.
because original movies dont make money in the box office anymore. they dont have the money to market it compared to well known stuff. there is tuns of original movies and people dont go see them thats also the problem. i pray they never ever remake Aladdin or back to the future!
Universal owns Back To The Future, not Disney. (The latter rejected BTTF due to the incest thing, though it didn't stop them from acquiring Star Wars years later.)
I don't understand either. Why not just re-release Lion King on 4k. Just like they did on Blu-ray. They made a boat load no a oil tanker full of money. I mean the real live action is on Broadway.
That’s nice but he’s only in what a quarter of the film? Jeremy Irons isn’t playing Scar and he was fantastic as him. What’s the point if only bringing back one original voice actor? Especially one that’s hardly in the movie
Seriously, the Lion King is one of those stories that works FAR better with animation than live action, just like Winnie the Pooh (which Disney is also planning a live action film for). If they can't think of a better idea than this, then they've truly hit the bottom of the barrel. I'd rather be waterboarded than see any of these remakes.
I couldn't agree more with your video. This remake is a bad idea because It's completely unnecessary. The Jungle Book worked because a) nobody gives two shits about the original movie and b) you can say that there's a point that the animals looking realistic (in fact, there was already a live action version that used real animals). But there is no such need for TLK. And if they are not going to make it look realistic and more like Zootopia, then what's the point? To update the graphics for the PS4 generation? Also, they choose a mediocre director to remake their biggest property?? They are treating one of their best movies like Jungle Book scraps, and it's not the first time they do it. The sequel was fanfiction; the third movie shit all over the original; the cartoons were horrible. The only thing that was great was the musical. I fact, there you have your live action Lion King which actually improves on many aspects of the movie. If the news would be that they are doing a real live action remake but with humans, then I would be curious. It would be a different thing (I don't think it could be a POG movie for sure), but this? Just a graphics update, like I said.
OMG THANK YOU!!! Finally someone who's NOT hyped to see a CG-ified version of a classic Disney movie!! I'm so SICK of everyone giving Disney a free pass!
Benjamin Lura personally I think Zootopia isn’t ready for a sequel, but I agree that this movie doesn’t need to exist, and people need to stop supporting these remakes
IRaYnEmAn lol, and how is my opinion ignorant? Especially when I said I'd give it a chance? It seems more of a guarded perspective side of optimism if you ask me. ;)
15:08-15:18 As much as it pains me to say it, Tony, it made $1 billion not too long ago. I wish it didn't make that much, but the sad truth is, there's nothing we can do about it. And I didn't even go see it but I don't plan to.
Remaking The Lion King is beyond stupid but fingers crossed if this remake bombs which it will unquestionably, then Disney May change their ways and cancel the planned Live Action Remakes and return to original traditionally animated movies!
Money. It's sad to me because it's anti-creativity, and it's anti-originality. What is the point in having a team of bright, passionate, capable people in an industry that's all about telling stories if they're not going to use that talent to make anything new? It's such a waste from a creative person's perspective. Creativity is in art, music, theatre, movies, books, therefore it is CULTURE. If much of our current culture is all about looking backwards, then we are in for lacklustre future that will wish it more with its' adulthood.
Dude Alice in Wonderland is what started it all, once they realized the popularity and made the live action beauty and the beast I knew they would go down a list. Now its Lion King and Aladdin. But don't think it will end there.
Actually, they didn’t start remaking Disney animated movies into live action in the 2010s. In the 90s they did two reboots on the jungle book and 101 Dalmatians.
Will Lyon You're right, but I still think the Alice in Wonderland remake is what mostly started this loop of disney remakes in general, the people really liked it and Disney realized they could do it to all their films. Im not sure how well received their older remakes were. Personally the live action 101 dalmations wasn't too great to me, the animation is superior.
Ok Disney, you've gone too far. First it was the god-awful direct to dvd sequels. Now this. Disney, are you running out of creative juices or what? All you're doing right now is remaking your animated classics. 101 Dalmatians sucked ass, Alice in Wonderland was creepy as hell, Cinderella was kind of understandable( I mean, come on. Ella and the prince needs more chemistry), Maleficent was unnecessary, The Jungle Book (both the 90s and 2016 version) was okay, and Beauty and the Beast was boring (adding a couple of extra scenes to the film isn't going to make it interesting). Come on, DISNEY! Walt made Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for a reason! And don't even think about making a live-action Mickey Mouse film with a guy in a fucking Mickey Mouse costume! That's a bad idea written all over it! If you do that, I will lose ALL my respect for you! ALL OF IT! (*pant pant* Okay I'm fucking done ranting. Disney, there is one word I have to say to you: 🖕
4 years since this video was uploaded, and it's kind of still relevant because he was right about the 2019 live-action remake of "The Lion King" being pointless considering it's literally just the same movie shot for shot, except with hyper-realistic computer-animation trying to pass off as live-action. So, I think by just staying home and watching the original when the 2019 film came out in theaters last year was the right choice because nobody would miss much by just watching the original instead of the live-action remake. And one last thing I would like to say is, Tony, seeing the 2016 live-action remake of "The Jungle Book" had nothing to do with Disney green-lighting the live-action "Lion King" remake. Even if you had stuck to your guts and didn't see the 2016 "The Jungle Book" in theaters, Disney would have still announced this regardless. So, don't be hard on yourself for seeing the 2016 "The Jungle Book" in theaters. It's not really your fault.
I am upset about this too and how Tiger looks in the Christopher Robin film. Tiger is my favorite Pooh character. He looks bad from the poster. I am not sure if I will like it.
Just like the remake of The Lion King, it will be a black eye on Disney for many years to come. I wouldn't be surprised if it bombs, and let's hope it does, because maybe then Disney will start coming to its senses.
This isn't REPLACING The Lion King, it just a live action version. Did you see the live action Jungle Book? It gave a whole new perspective to the story and brought the story back to cinemas. The producer of that huge box office success is taking the helm on this as well (not to mention he also did the Iron Man movies which were pretty awesome). Sorry to say but, Disney is a company that is trying to impress shareholders, just as they were back when they made the original. Disney doesn't have the "audacity" to do whatever they want, they do what people want. If nobody showed up to see The Jungle Book remake there wouldn't be any more of these films. Just as back in the 90's, if nobody showed up to see Disney's animated features, The Lion King would never have been made. Nothing is being replaced, people are allowed to derive new versions of beloved characters and introduce them to another generation.
You can just as well show your children the original, could you not? There’s no reason to remake a movie when the original is still there and still amazing.
The number one reason for this remake is money. Money, money, and even more money. They can never have enough money. Disney a lean, mean, green-making machine. Hell, look at the lineup for the Disney company in 2019. Avengers 4; Toy Story 4; Lion King; Frozen 2; Star Wars Episode 9. Whether or not these films will even be good, you know they will become some of Disney’s highest-grossing films of all time.
The only recent disney movie i actually want a sequel of is zootopia... or maybe at least a another movie in a world with alot of anthropromorphic animals/creatures But they don't want to make that they just want to make more frozen, starwars, superhero movies and live action remakes
Disney dropped out the new trailer a few weeks ago. There was no emotion being shown by the characters. I’m actually wondering if I’ll even cry when Mufasa dies because emotion (and the music) is what made the scene so relatable and sad.
Lion King came out two years after I was born I loved that movie when I was a kid and I still do this day it's easily one of the best kid movies of all time if not the best and the fact that they are remaking it is a total joke
The Lion King sadly did break a billion dollars, but they could make just as much money making an original movie, so I don’t really understand them either.
Problem is even if they do make something original, they had to cram in LGBT tolerance bullshit, which causes audiences to go “Nope. Not seeing it.” Hence why Strange World is their biggest bomb in a decade. Well that and it had as much marketing as Treasure Planet.
This live action trend is a serious disease. It's spreading faster than I thought possible. Cinderella, Beauty and The Beast, Jungle Book, Maleficent...now Lion King. Is there no cure to this?
Mine mine mine for the taking. It's mine mine for the taking. Great now I have that song in my head again. I did not really get mad at the news of the remake but when I heard that they are erasing "be prepared" The best villian song ever. I totally freaked out!!!
My only reaction is: WHY? If Disney wants to make more money off the Lion King, there are SO many better ways to do it. How about an original prequel about Mufasa, for example? People would be losing their shit over that!
YES! Maybe adapt the backstory the original creators made for Mufasa and Scar after the release of the film. THAT would be a villain movie that would actually work! Unlike...that OTHER live action remake...
If the original gets forgotten, I don't see how the remake would be responsible. Unless the remake overshadowed the original by being a lot better, at which point why would you be upset?
If they wanna remake or live action make Gargoyles!!! That's new and refreshing and it has great storytelling. Originality still sales!! Though I like some remakes, but only if it's worth watching.
its not gonna be shitty honestly have you seen the sneak peek it is gonna be so cool! but you never judge a book by its cover so don't judge it so fast
@@ogingocni6850 People called Aquaman cringy before it came out and watched it. People are calling Shazam cringy before it came out and that's not out yet. By your logic everyone's retarded for calling something cringy on their own opinion. There's nothing wrong with having a first opinion.
I laughed so hard, I was looking at the thumbnail of you face slapping and you started with facepalming and I was like “Is this all the video? Tell you what, it’s accurate” 😂
Those executives must have had some memberberries which made me think if Ford Riley (creator of Lion Guard). We already have the Lion Guard, so why do we need another rehashing of Lion Guard?
Dumbo, The Little Mermaid, Lion King. Jungle Book, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, Mulan, Pinnochio, Kinda Sleeping Beauty, Winnie the Pooh, 101 Dalmations, Peter Pan, KInda Aladdin with a Genie origin story,Tinkerbell. when is it gonna end. Yes I had to edit this comment to add more live action remakes that I missed
I agree the remakes are just awful and have no reason to validate their existence. But saying you lost faith in Disney is excessive. This isn’t Disney animation’s fault. This all the live actions department doing. But I feel most bad for the directors and everyone who worked into the original movie. They spent years pouring all their passion and everything they had into movies that are beloved by millions. Now they’re all getting remade and completely missing the point and emotions of the original. These movies paint by numbers instead of paint by passion. I stopped after Jungle Book because I was not going to sit through anymore of the rushed, pandering messes these movies are. They don’t take away from the original but their entire existence serves as nothing more than an insult towards a creatively driven movie that could and should only be done through animation.
Tony your rant on Disney cracked me up!! I agree don't know why they are remaking Disney movies into live action! Like lion king was a musical, how are they going to translate that into live action?? I don't have much faith in this project but I'm ready to pull out the popcorn and watch this mess happen.
Disney made an amazing job in making zootopia, big hero 6 and soon we are having moana! those movies are beautifully animated, good plots and those movies are original! but instead, they keep making live action movies from the best disney animated movies... disney just doesn't care about how the fans feel anymore, they just care about live action and money. Disney was meant about the fantasy, the animation, and it's iconic main characters. if Walt disney was alive, he would be so disappointed that his dream of creating animated stories for families to enjoy is slowly going away. but i do gotta admit, i did liked maleficent. I do wanna give beauty and the beast a chance, but the lion king and a dumbo remake too?... nope. heck no. that is just dumb. as much as I love Tim Burton's work, I don't think dumbo works well with tim burton. dumbo is so light and colorful and tim burton is always with the darkness in his movies. I really don't have a good feeling about this.
You shouldn't be surprise that Disney is doing this, especially with the success of The Jungle Book Its another way from them to make money off one their most successful animated films. But be surprise when they greenlight a live version of Aladdin.
•Koopa Kid• Exactly. Remember last year, when I said I'd be done with Disney if they ever made anymore live-action remakes? Well, now I'm done with them. They're dead to me, forever.
I say Disney is so rich they can make the unnecessary remake but how bout this. release it for free on TH-cam or Disney Channel. otherwise I'm convinced it's just a cash grab
That's the motivation of the producers, yes. But in an original movie, you normally have writers and directors who start out before the profit motive. This one started out as a cash grab, rather than as a story idea.
Joey Hilton No I don't work in the movie industry, and I'm not certain that this is how it went down. But I'm looking at what kinds of movies get big budgets. And they it is relatively rare for those to be original ideas, but either adaptations, sequels, reboots or remakes. If you see that as a pattern, it makes sense, because those are the safe bets. They have recognition, something to work off and a lower chance of not resonating with the audience, thus creating more revenue. This goes especially in the case of remakes. And that pattern has absolutely nothing to do with the actual content, which is why I don't think that decision is made on a level on which the creative people are involved.
This remake is possibly the least necessary of the potential remakes. "Live action" implies "living actors" and we all know there's not going to be a single living actor in this movie. Just a bunch of CG puppets with voice actors.
Now that is one movie that should be remade! I'm all for them remaking that in live action and turning it into more of a family horror typed movie. Think that'd be awesome and I bet many people would flock to watch it especially since a lot of people forget that this movie even exists; which is a shame because I have always enjoyed this movie. So I personally do not get why it failed so badly and why it is generally hated by those who do remember it. But yes it is in dire need of an update and with today's technology I think it would be a success!
I think Disney is running out of ideas to the point where they're just like "Let's turn every classic into a CGI live action movie."
I honestly don't see the point in remaking the Lion King. With the other two remakes it kind of made sense. Disney sure has ran out of ideas

It really shows Disney gave up being creative anymore, and just decide hey, lets remake all animated movies from the 90s instead of making more new stories. Mr. Walt Disney would not approve.
No, he certainly would not.
I would rather see an animated Lion King III than a live-action remake of the first film.
Maybe more Kovu and Kiara
I feel the same way
I feel the same way,I don't like live action movies so I rather see a animated one,the lion guard is good but it makes the lion movies have questions like how come it was never mentioned? or where's kion when stuff was happening in the lion king 2? I loved those movies and the lion guard so I kinda want to see those questions answered
That's bacisally what it'll be! Since all the characters are talking animals and most of the setting will be CGI anyways, "live action" is a blatant lie. This won't be live action Lion King, it'll be CG Lion King.
Walt Disney is rolling in his grave
Disney can do better. We've seen that in the work from Disney Animation. Where fun and inventive films like Tangled, Zootopia and Moana were crafted and have joined the ranks of some of Disney's most beloved animated classics. The main issue is that the animation arm of the company really seems to be the only one where genuine creativity and originality is celebrated.
I Just imagined Walt Disney, Roy E. Disney and Howard Ashman just saying: "DISNEY REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!!!"
It's an awful remake too
Disney is so uncreative these days. The last original movie that they made was Zootopia and that was really GOOD!
And Moana
Nah that was based off some Hawaiian (I think) tale
(The latter rejected BTTF due to the incest thing, though it didn't stop them from acquiring Star Wars years later.)
i list back to the future coz its one of my all time movies and its perfect, doesnt need to be remade
um zootopia is original and that got 900 million in the box office, so your saying original stuff does not get money
I don't understand either. Why not just re-release Lion King on 4k. Just like they did on Blu-ray. They made a boat load no a oil tanker full of money. I mean the real live action is on Broadway.
Uhh...at least James Earl Jones is back.
please dont kill me
That’s nice but he’s only in what a quarter of the film? Jeremy Irons isn’t playing Scar and he was fantastic as him. What’s the point if only bringing back one original voice actor? Especially one that’s hardly in the movie
Have a contest.
Release the original and the live action at the same time.
All these stupid live action remakes are just another reason why the 2010's suck. That and rebooting and making crappy old awesome cartoons/games.
OMG THANK YOU!!! Finally someone who's NOT hyped to see a CG-ified version of a classic Disney movie!! I'm so SICK of everyone giving Disney a free pass!
Lion King was my childhood so I don't know what to do.
Disney should make a Zootopia 2 instead of this unessecary movie.
Benjamin Lura personally I think Zootopia isn’t ready for a sequel, but I agree that this movie doesn’t need to exist, and people need to stop supporting these remakes
Yeah Disney have done enough remakes.
Benjamin Lura agreed, imagine if beauty and the beast 2017 failed, then we probably wouldn’t get anymore remakes
Jungle Book remake was the only good remake in my opinion.
Benjamin Lura true, that was the one I felt they actually tried on
I'm beginning to think that Disney is officially running out of ideas. What are you thinking, Walt Disney Company!?
It's a cash grab
The Lion King was perfect. It didn't need to be touched. I will watch it just to see it, but it will never *EVER* be as good as the original.
kirara2516 Your comment is pure ignorance...
Wait a minute I didn't even know be prepared was scrapped one of the best Disney villain songs scratched
Remaking The Lion King is beyond stupid but fingers crossed if this remake bombs which it will unquestionably, then Disney May change their ways and cancel the planned Live Action Remakes and return to original traditionally animated movies!
You are moron on Disney live action remakes are awesome and they also have good visual effects
CocoAndMoanaFanMedia you're a moron
Probably won’t happen because Disney sold their 2D animation studio.
It won’t bomb.
Disney is outta ideas and running outta money. Films be turning 100 and they’re clueless...Walt’s dead
WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS WHY?!!!!????????
Because live action is cool
Any Live action remake is STUPID & POINTLESS
Be Prepared not in this remake. Still think it's good now?
And the people said they want to respect the source material.
@@HZTenh17g
That's Disney for you. When they want the money they lie to fans.
This has aged so incredibly well
Like a fine remake wine ;)
@@BlackCriticGuy oh damn I was not expecting to get a reply from you XD
Personally the live action 101 dalmations wasn't too great to me, the animation is superior.
kemi Agree to disagree. Also there are much better live action interpretations of fairy tale movies that are not Disney.
There's gonna be a live action Mulan
On the day that the remake comes out, I'm going to watch the original animated film in 4K on my projector.
When tony starts off with "really...______?..." you know it's gonna be a fun video.
ikr
Hunter O'Laughlin agreed
Good news to told you, it’s atrocious.
You can just as well show your children the original, could you not? There’s no reason to remake a movie when the original is still there and still amazing.
Are you really surprised?
Well this video holds up extremely well
The live action Lion King is getting bad reviews!
Now they are remaking The Return of Jafar and Pocohantas .
They better not touch Lion King 2!
@@MusicallyPowerful1 They probably will
Pocahontas is just a rumor. There’s no confirmation that they even plan to remake it
Live-action sequels ;D
Scar is my favorite character in the Lion King...I can't see someone else play Scar. Jeremy Irons is the best!!!
They better not mess w Scar
I am never watching the remake of The Lion King! >:( I'm just going to watch the animated one!
@adam lo Thanks.
@adam lo OK? Also, What do you mean have fun in 1992? 😕😕
AaronTheBlue'sClues&ClassicDisney Fanatic the remake is great in it’s own way so go fuck yourself
The only recent disney movie i actually want a sequel of is zootopia... or maybe at least a another movie in a world with alot of anthropromorphic animals/creatures
But they don't want to make that they just want to make more frozen, starwars, superhero movies and live action remakes
@@majamystic256 *rolls eyes to heaven*
Disney dropped out the new trailer a few weeks ago. There was no emotion being shown by the characters. I’m actually wondering if I’ll even cry when Mufasa dies because emotion (and the music) is what made the scene so relatable and sad.
I KNEW HE WAS GONNA SAY "REALLY" AT THE START OF THE VIDEO! I KNEW IT!
Yeah, especially if it's good!
Problem is even if they do make something original, they had to cram in LGBT tolerance bullshit, which causes audiences to go “Nope. Not seeing it.” Hence why Strange World is their biggest bomb in a decade. Well that and it had as much marketing as Treasure Planet.
Frozen Sucks For Replacing The Lion King!!!
Oh my god.....I just realized they might make a live action Pocahontas.... for Thanksgiving.
I think it's probably for the best if they don't.
This live action trend is a serious disease. It's spreading faster than I thought possible. Cinderella, Beauty and The Beast, Jungle Book, Maleficent...now Lion King. Is there no cure to this?
+Markersable Agreed.
After Cinderella, I've given up on their live action films. I will stick with the cartoons.
Anime plzz
redconvoy oh snap! I forgot about the Cinderella movie!
Mine mine mine for the taking. It's mine mine for the taking. Great now I have that song in my head again. I did not really get mad at the news of the remake but when I heard that they are erasing "be prepared" The best villian song ever. I totally freaked out!!!
THEY DID WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My only reaction is: WHY? If Disney wants to make more money off the Lion King, there are SO many better ways to do it. How about an original prequel about Mufasa, for example? People would be losing their shit over that!
i would definitely watch that
That's a pretty awesome idea actually.
why these people r not doing something original !!
they do have that. it is a book called "a tale of two brothers" or something along those lines.
YES! Maybe adapt the backstory the original creators made for Mufasa and Scar after the release of the film. THAT would be a villain movie that would actually work! Unlike...that OTHER live action remake...
How could you Disney!!!
The old one was perfect and now you want to change it SHAME ON YOU!!! and the old one will be forgotten in a few years :(
If the original gets forgotten, I don't see how the remake would be responsible. Unless the remake overshadowed the original by being a lot better, at which point why would you be upset?
Amber Cloud 113 lion king forgotten?? lol these comments are ridiculous. Have you ever been to Animal Kingdom??
If they wanna remake or live action make Gargoyles!!! That's new and refreshing and it has great storytelling. Originality still sales!! Though I like some remakes, but only if it's worth watching.
Heavenly Phoenix74 its a phase currently in Hollywood. Remakes...
Yesssssss
I'd watch the live action version of Gargoyles with a heartbeat. As long as gargoyles aren't fully CGI.
Can somebody please leave this video at Disney's doorstep!
Cant they just leave the good movies alone and dont make shitty remakes no one wants to see?!
its not gonna be shitty honestly have you seen the sneak peek it is gonna be so cool! but you never judge a book by its cover so don't judge it so fast
Most remakes are not good :/
Haha! You’re Disney villain song was hilarious and sadly true.
I actually didn't see this coming.
I just hope this movie won't be shit.
Ronno 2017 same
Everyone is saying it had bad reviews, but Disney don’t care! They made 114 million in the first week! THEYRE LIVINGG

By your logic everyone's retarded for calling something cringy on their own opinion.
There's nothing wrong with having a first opinion.
Let’s put this into perspective, Star Wars VII: A New Hope 2
Jake Pulley I mainly blame Disney Executives for that
Tony your rant on Disney cracked me up!!
But be surprise when they greenlight a live version of Aladdin.
there is a live action movie Aladdin which is called Genie
This is Disney's stupidest move, without a doubt.
•Koopa Kid• Exactly. Remember last year, when I said I'd be done with Disney if they ever made anymore live-action remakes? Well, now I'm done with them. They're dead to me, forever.
+SuperSonicWarrior93 lol meee too !!!
O
I agree with you Tony. Lion king does not need a remake😯 I am so done with Disney if this movie turns out to be shitty.
Joey Hilton
No I don't work in the movie industry, and I'm not certain that this is how it went down.
And that pattern has absolutely nothing to do with the actual content, which is why I don't think that decision is made on a level on which the creative people are involved.
the house of mouse has again gone TOO DAMN FAR!
No Jeremy Irons? Now I know how people felt when they saw Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.
Aaaaaand it sucks.
It’s not actually a hybrid. It’s just an animated film with one scene that is live action.
This remake is possibly the least necessary of the potential remakes. "Live action" implies "living actors" and we all know there's not going to be a single living actor in this movie. Just a bunch of CG puppets with voice actors.
I'm surprised they haven't remade the black cauldron
Now that is one movie that should be remade! I'm all for them remaking that in live action and turning it into more of a family horror typed movie. Think that'd be awesome and I bet many people would flock to watch it especially since a lot of people forget that this movie even exists; which is a shame because I have always enjoyed this movie. So I personally do not get why it failed so badly and why it is generally hated by those who do remember it. But yes it is in dire need of an update and with today's technology I think it would be a success!
