@@scoldingwhisper As a goalie, I agree, and the league I play in does just that. People don't realize, especially if they've never played hockey, just how hard those damn blockers are. I've hit someone with one after they slashed my knees, and to this day I regret it because I legit hurt the guy. I would NEVER hit someone with my blocker ever again after that. Left him with a cracked skull from hitting the ice, and concussion from the blow of the blocker. Never intended to hurt the guy, but out of stupidity I just reacted to him slashing the back of my legs fairly hard and hit him with my blocker since my paddle got knocked out of my hand. Hindsight being 20/20, I would have used my glove instead of my blocker to smash him in the back of the head.

It is. I've always strongly felt that if a goalie left his net and went toe to toe with a player, whether a fight or not, the team has no responsibility to dog pile like that. Never jumped in when my goalies did dumb shit like that. Always told them "you're on your own bud".
Murray's trip was actually smart because it caused the play to be killed on what was 100% a goal if he doesn't trip him. That's the only time I would ever condone that kinda play from us goalies really, besides that all these spearing and slashing hits and hitting guy's with blockers is just stupid and warrants the penalties.
I think there was either a playoff game (Wings vs Lightning) where Ben Bishop got 2 tripping penalties or back to back games in the series where he got a tripping penalty. Not sure why he felt like he needed to do that.
Fuck does that piss me off. During the Nashville, blues game where binnington punches the dude in the back of the head the fucking announcer saying that shouldn’t be called and it’s normally let go. Like no a player does that too a goalie and it’s the worst thing you’ve ever seen but a goalie does it too a player who is wearing far less gear and that’s okay
