- Knights are so cool. Hopefully this increases your understanding of the dynamics between chess pieces, and the positional awareness needed to improve your chess game.

Honestly neither piece is always better than the other it always depends on the situation
knights are ultimate warriors and bishops are professional killers (the sniper)
But bishops don't really attack well, many players can see them in the corner of the board
@@DanZhukovin they're more about area control and freezing pieces. horses are more like opening pieces or for forks
Gave the worst possible scenario for a bishop to justify your point. Knights are better in closed positions but bishops are far better in open positions. The bishop pair in an open position vs knights isn't even close. The last counter point is a well positioned bishop can shut down half a knight's legal moves. It's always situational but imo bishops are better on average.
Yes, these positions are purposefully selected to show the situational power of the knight. In real games, of course both pieces have their advantages and bishops can be argued to be slightly better overall. But again, it all depends on the situation.
Exactly. Knights are generally better in middle games, Bishops in end games because they have more space. Just like Rooks by the way. Just a clickbait video.
Stockfish wins more games with bishops. Discussion closed.
sheesh 🥶🥶
im pretty sure this is referring to the average player
@@polishlithuaniainanutshell5146 Yeah but it also means the bishop is stronger, there’s context to the statement
bruh what is this thumbnail 💀 the guy next to magnus is GM zbigniew pakleza who only plays 1.d4 for basically he's entire life, he's literally a london system spammer and you described him as 1.e4 enjoyer 💀
its a joke lol
Maybe I am a knight cause I often make L moves
The Knight's advantages over a bishop do not outweigh its lower overall mobility from the middlegame onward and long range potential. You are right about all of the knight's advantages. They're just not enough to compensate 2 knights for 2 opposite color bishops.
This seems like kind of a joke lol, this makes it sound like the bishop is worse than a pawn. Yes in that last position thhe bishop is trapped but black has to literally put themselves in that kind of jail, and there are many situations where a bishop can completely trao a knight on an empty board
I understand this is a joke video, but to be serious - while knights can dominate the bishops, the bishops dominate the knights more often and that's due bishop's greater mobility. The bishop is a better piece but of course depending on the position, a knight can be preferable sometimes.
Bishops because 2 bishops work better togheter than 2 knights, and bishops are better than knight at delivering checkmate, and win pieces who king is pinned to, knights can just fork, bishops can scewer, pin&fork, therefore 1 bishop is more powerful than 1 knight unless closed position, so all what matters in pieces's power/value are only open position
The pawn cuz they can turn into other pieces and shape the battle ground .
Why bishops are better than knights?
1. Bishops control more squares than knights. Also they are more mobile than the knights.
2. You can checkmate your opponents with bishop pair, you can't checkmate them with knight pair. You can even checkmate your opponents with the bishop and knight pair.
3. You don't have to make a video on why bishops are better than knights.
And thtas how bishops earn 0.5 points more than the knight.
Why Knight is better than bishop?
1.Bishop only control 1 square complex but knight can control both
2. Bishops only have direct control but knight have both direct as well as indirect control (Knight control more squares than a bishop(35 with 8 direct but bishops can control a maximum of 14 squares))
3.Knights are too tactical than bishops
4.Bishops are predictable but knights are not especially in time pressure situations.Floating knights have no match even for a queen
5.Rook pawn endgame with bad bishop is draw but it's always a win with knight
6.knight is the only piece which can jump through pieces
7.Knight is the only piece in chess which can attack anything without getting attacked
8.Knight in a perfect outpost is worth more than a rook but bishops are not
9.Knight is a clear winner in closed positions
10.Knight is the best defender of a king
11.Knights are best blockader of passed pawns
And many more ...
I think the knight is better because it can jump over pieces and fork. So powerful!
And can get pinned the easiest of all pieces
What kind of justification is that😂 600 elo iq
Stockfish wins with 2 bishops vs 2 knights case closed
KNIGHT IS BETTER THAN A BISHOP BUT IT HIGHLY DEPENDS ON POSITION .BUT BISHOP PAIR IS LEGENDARY
Bishops are more about area control and freezing pieces because their long range helps them a lot with that which makes them a pretty good end/middle game piece. horses are more like opening pieces or for forks because no other piece can move like them. imagine if horses were more valuable than bishops and vice-versa chess would be really different
what an informative video! mac raffoul is so good at chess! he taught me everything i know!
both good
another banger video thank you mac raffoul
Glad you enjoyed it
So true Mac Raffoul is only banging
okay okay i have an idea what if ai calculated every pieces value in game but you dont know
I do believe that the value of the two is quite even. Bishops are better in open positions while knights are better in closed. It’s easier to force an open position and all closed positions eventually open up
It all depends on position in some positions bishop or knight is more valuable than rook
As some GMs say: the stronger you become in chess, the more you like bishops over knights :)
The knight isbetter in my opinion i like it way more (exept if the bishop moves to the sqare Z38 and people wonder why it isnt checkmate)
If you put stockfish 16 vs stockfish 16 one without the knights an the other without the bishops, it will always end in a draw no mather wich color has the pairs.
Yeah because neither side has sufficient material to Checkmate (technically the one with 2 bishops can If Black defends incorrectly)
@@NoahHoi I think they mean from the starting chess position with just knight or bishops removed
@@ninja8flash742 in that case I'm pretty sure it always ends in a draw because the bots are of exact equal strength
If the games are being played at a lower level then I’d say the knight is superior to the bishop as lower rated players do not calculate sequences further than roughly 2 moves I’d say increasing the chances of blundering a fork to the better player however once we’re out of the three digit elo range and into the not so blunder on move 5 range is where the real debate takes place, as a KID / KIA player, I do find my fianchetto bishop being useless for half of the game as it’s blocked in by my knight and or just staring at a pawn blockade while my knight is actually doing something like supporting my pawn breaks or hopping to a valuable post or rerouting to a good attacking square, however I do gotta give the bishop it’s fair share of praise as in endgame’s where the centre’s been ripped open and much more squares become available there’s more value to be found with the bishop compared to a knight as its superior mobility and ability to pin / skewer pieces become a valuable commodity. There’s great arguments for both pieces, but in my opinion I think the knights are better in the early to mid game and fall off slightly in the endgame whereas the opposite is for the bishop in which they are worse in the early to mid game but get better in endgames, honestly I gotta agree with the universal value 3 for 3 even, I can’t see either piece as superior as they’re both solid pieces which are better than the other in their own ways, positing the question which is better knight or bishop is like having a pc mother choose 1 of her 2 kids to save in a life or death scenario. There simply is no correct answer
oh i love chess
I love Mac raffoul
Finalmente alguém reconhecendo a força do cavalo
knights are ass without pawns
3:28 the Queen is toast, why say it's a smothered mate?
knight can checkmate on the next move after the rook takes
@@macraffoul2902smothered mate only works on the same kind of people that fall for scholars mate. That is, if they are stupid enough to not push their pawns since the beginning of the game and block the king.
