This is the problem with too many of us when it comes to this issue. Two things can be true at the same time. But instead of us acknowledging each other’s true statements, we’d rather argue over who’s right and who’s wrong. Let’s not forget that people’s perspective on issues like this is all based on standards of living. We have Black people living all over the spectrum from sub-poverty to wealthy. How you plan to maintain your lifestyle will dictate how much $100,000 will be worth to YOU.

Savings are not for suckers. It’s insurance policy for when shit happens. This is why I don’t listen to Anton when he talks about not having a savings account. It’s easy to say don’t have a savings account when you have multiple streams of income every month where you can budget and allocate funds that come in every month in case of an emergency. Even that is risky. What if those funds stop coming? Are you going to cash out on your investments every time you have an emergency? As a homeowner you need to have cash in case something happens. I am not going to tie it up in investments. I am one of those people who has almost $100k saved with majority of my savings in a brokerage account. I do also set aside six month in expenses in a high yield savings account. That’s not a big flex because I live in NY and I still don’t think that’s enough.

Exactly, I have a 401k and that’s enough. Ask all those ball players who invested millions and now are broke. People say invest like it’s an automatic return it’s not that easy. Also you have to be able take a loss, so how can the average American not have 1000 for emergencies even think about investing.

I work as service desk, have a side hustle and invest in stocks and I have no savings. I don’t believe in savings for the sake of savings. My money has to be out working like I’m working. If emergency happens, I have credit cards, then I stop the routine investing and use the money to repay the cc. Once that is done, cycle continues.
So to say you have to have surplus money like anton to be able to have his kind of budget it wrong

I don't know anyone personally who makes "millions" - well, maybe a couple of specialized doctors I've dealt with - but I do know many who make VERY good money. I'd be hard pressed to imagine anyone with the means to earn that much money being "broke" and living paycheck to paycheck. My nephew and his wife together make over seven hundred, and they have a person who keeps a very good eye on their finances and manages their funds, so if they were spending out of line (which trust me, they don't - they enjoy life but spend like they don't have it - there in lies the key) that person would let them know. No millionaires, or people who make "millions" a year, are living that way. Sure, some people, regardless of income, like to spend and many can't handle money well, but I hardly think people who comprise less than 5% of the population who are sophisticated and talented and skilled enough to make that kind of money being dumb enough to live in debt.

Just live below your means. Pay off all your bills, because you have to have disposable income in order to invest more. Buy used cars until, or unless, you can buy them in cash. Put aside your job bonuses instead of spending it on clothes, toys, or trips. If you want to take trips, make monthly installments. It takes time to achieve these things, so set small goals, and meet them.

I commented earlier.. When he's triggered, he loses it. As a "public figure", being a content creator, you must be willing to accept criticism. As you are so willing to give it. Which is exercised more often than not, in the case of Mr.Daniels. Empathy to us as an audience , or the approach thereof, has to be in play. Sensitivity, especially to a people that have continuously suffered from various desensitizing efforts, must be taken into consideration. Again, especially, when one is conveying certain unfamiliar thought processes. This rant towards the end of his presentation, was uncalled for and detracts away from his messaging
Unless, he is unconcerned about the masses and instead, has decided to direct his energy towards people of both his mindset and the vulgarity of his attitude. If that is the case, we must block out the negative noise or abdicate our support for his channel. It is disturbing. However, if I may recommend a financial support mechanism, I would implore you to get a copy of Investing for Dummies. I have it and what it will do is to give you an overview, as to the assortment of investment vehicles that are out there and explain in detail, their functionality. This is cap. You need an emergency fund that can cover your monthly expenses for 6 months, when you add unemployment that can stretch to 8-12 months because you will be cutting out travel, eating out, shopping etc. keep the money in a high yield account or CD, right now you can get 5%. If you don’t use the money at least it’s gaining interest. You need a solid 401k if you are at or approaching 40 250k is a nice place to be. By 60 you should be close to 750- 1 mil. Pay off all debt, use credit but pay off the balance statement balance so you don’t pay interest. Have a side hustle or business. It could be something making as little as $250 a month. That money goes into a 2nd account you can use this for unexpected expenses ( new appliances, car repairs etc) utilize credit card points so you don’t pay full price on trips. Turn your side hustle to an LLC and use the tax benefit. However You would need to be making 100k or more in salary and have skills to get another job making the same or close. Also have a budget everything should have a line item even the $30 hair cut.

Building with cash is not efficient. In order to scale you do need financing and investors. I’m a syndicator . We invest in apartment buildings. No developer is putting up $100 million but we’ve loaned out that much on one deal.

100, 000 is def a lot of money but I understand the point he was trying to make. You still need to know how money works. If you 100K ,you can leverage it for much more. if you have a bull market you could easily net 25k in a year. As Warren Buffet says the first 100k is the hardest. After that compounding takes over.

You right, last generation to fill out Fasfa, apply for foodstamps, housing, pell grants! You are so right! I have talked with people about this before and they have looked at me crazy for saying this. I know people who will work part time because they don’t want to lose their housing and foot stamps. I couldn’t get mad because it’s a mindset. You either have it or you don’t. You either want better, adjust and grow or stay stagnant! There is way to much information but a lot of information can paralyze people. But you have to stay hungry or starve!
