You know, Chris...after 3 years of music making I think I would be better with just a Kontakt Player. Much less temptation to buy more libraries that I don't use + all those Ultimate and Collector's libraries and plug-ins. Just a player and a limited amount of libraries that will actually matter. If only I knew xD
This is one of the best comparison video's about the full kontakt and free kontakt player. And notice that NI offers Kontakt for €199 for a couple of times a year. Thanks, Christopher!
I wish Native would give people a selection of plugins to choose from when you purchase Kontakt full version, Most of the stuff that comes with it I would not use. The Orchestral Tools stuff is nice that comes with it now though.
Hey, great video thanks! Would you say it's worth getting the full version for the Factory Library alone? Is it any good? Do you / other people actually use that?
hi Chris, nice video,i have made a structure (strings, brass, guitars, etc) in the quickload tab for the non-player libraries, that way i dont have to search everytime in the files tab for what i need, havent upgraded to kontakt 7 yet,99€ is a big fee if you see what difference there is between ver 6 and 7,not much,as for making your own sample libraries, yes, kontakt is very powerful, but their creation program is too complex in my opinnion, its better to create KSP blocks (sliders, knobs) than to use that creation tool,i've also recently begun in experimenting with decent sampler to make some libraries, not as powerful as kontakt, but its free from the creator David Hillowitz it also uses the same sort of code like kontakt,so if you make code blocks, you can create an instrument very fast and easy, cheers mate
so is there no multi-rack in kontakt player? I have kontakt 6 and used to having that, but need kontakt 7 for a few new/updated libraries, and the player doesn't seem to have that?
The paid version overrides the free version. The free version can only play stuff made for it but the paid version can play both versions of content. Hope that helps.
Thank you for the explanation. I didn't realize what a sampler was until now. This makes sense.
This was the explanation I was looking for, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
This was very well put together and precisely what I needed to know to make a decision. Thank you!! And Thank You for the free guide as well. :)
My pleasure John!

Excellent, thank you.

Chris, it seems that you haven't updated your Cinematic Studio Strings.
Thanks Lyndon! This video was recorded prior to me doing so (shows how much time I have on my hands...XD)
This video….July 28th 😳🤯.
Chris is so far ahead of his time. He’s probably doing videos right now for 2025. 😂
Wouldn't it be a nice idea to sum up which libraries from your guide can be used in either the free Kontakt version vs. the full Kontak version?
Can definitely consider a vid like this!
I have a simple question, is it possible to open several instances of Kontakt player in a project ?
Thank you in advance 😉

Hi, are there paid libraries that are only available for the free version?
Neither. Since NI has dropped support for MacOS Catalina on Intel-based Macs, and Syne Player and Synchron Player has not, I've switched over to them.
Is there a cat purring at the start of the video
Quick question Chris
So is kontakt player and kontakt, 2 different players or does the paid version overrite the free version once you upgrade?
The paid version overrides the free version. The free version can only play stuff made for it but the paid version can play both versions of content. Hope that helps.
@@antwonanderson2562 thank you so much for clearing it up for me, much appreciated 👍
