  • Valid for Ableton 11 as well!
If you've spent ages trying to install Kontakt and actually get it to show in your DAW but with no success, then try these instructions! I spent hours and hours trying to get it to work, watched loads of videos, read and re-read loads of instructions pages trying to get it all to work!

So after watching your video five times in a row I finally figured out to go into common files and then native instruments folder and from there click on 64-bit then I clicked on select and then contacts populated in my vst, oh my God thank you so much for all your help it was driving me bananas and when I contacted Ableton they said contact is not show up as a VST so I was dumbfounded and I was like wait I got to watch this video so I watched it over and over but I finally got it thank you so much

Cheers Robin! I NEVER comment on or like TH-cam videos, but this one deserves it. You have saved me so much trouble. Can finally get around to using my expansions the way I hoped. It's surprising that Native Instruments don't make simple walk-throughs like this for installing their products, but luckily you took the time to explain these things for beginners like me. Much appreciated!

I put my ssd drive back in as my c drive, and I have also installed my 4tb drive as my place for vsts and samples. Do you know the proper way to configure that, or perhaps another video to refer me to? Thank you

    • @robin_miller_music
      @robin_miller_music  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@HurveyJones So you basically want to move them all to a new location? In *theory*, it's supposed to be easy. Move them on your hard-drive etc, go into Native Access > Preferences, sort the new locations as necessary. Then if you click on each product you have Installed (main window) it should bring up a side window which shows you the Installation Path, if this is wring you'll probably need to re-install each product (hover over 'Full Version' etc in the product's mini section and it changes to 'Reinstall'.
I think this is the correct procedure but in reality I think it's a total nightmare! sorry man

First off, Thank you Robin for this video. I had been using native instruments in maschine and then wanted to use them in ableton. If you already have all the stuff installed there is a very simple way to get them into ableton. Instead of creating the VST32 and VST64 in the common files. First go into Ableton preferences, turn on VST2 custom folder. Second hit VST2 custom folder browse button. Then look for the folder C:\Programfiles\Native Instuments\VSTPluggins 64Bit. Hit the rescan at the top and it will put all your native instruments plugging into your ableton VST drop down to use.

Great Video and thanks for that.
Without a doubt, Native instruments Kontakt player is the most baffling download of all!
Nothing but trouble and hours of trying to get it to work.
    Maybe it's me?
However, it's stopped me purchasing anything from them.
    Anyone else experience this?

I am also struggling with this install. I have my HDD partitioned so that only windows and apps install on c:\
and then all the VSTs on a different path with more space. Does the install path have to be on c:\?

Hi Jason. To be honest I haven't tried it that way, so can't speak from experience. I'd highly doubt that it *has* to be on c: but I think you'll have to make sure that everything points to the same place

This is really useful, thanks. I’m using an MacBook Pro M1 and although I’ve set the download/application folders no problem, the VST 64/32 locations don’t show up in the preferences pane. Can someone tell me where I need to create VST folders - is it simply a case of creating folders in the NI applications folder?

Hey. If I understand what you're asking correctly, then download Native Access just like you would any normal programme. Then set the paths in Preferences in NA. Then just install Kontakt through NA and it should put everything in the right place. Does that help? (Sorry, I can't speak for Massive or Reaktor).

Ight so I went an bought Output's Exhale vocal synth and it requires me to download Kontakt in which requires me to download Native Access. My problem is that when I open Native Access it stops responding and never actually opens. You get the color wheel loading icon when you try to go up to preferences & no actual window ever pops up & to exit out of the app entirely I have to force quit. Ive tried control click "open", nothing. Ive tried completely uninstalled and reinstalled NA and the problem still persists, figured Id start asking questions before I ask for my money back lmaoo
