Dunno if it is an age thing (mid fifties here), but I find myself a bit amazed at what these go for tbh. Don’t get me wrong - I have always quite liked Audis in the past, but these always seem a lot for what is basically VW Polo / Skoda Fabia mechanicals in a posh frock. The cynic in me says that Audi only built these smaller models to cash in on the badge and make some easy money from the youngsters who want to be seen in the trendy places with the trendy gear and the right wheels!
I think you’ve answered your own question there. Older folk into cars will look for better value, younger buyers will see the S-Line badge and hand their cash over. It’s all about experience and that comes with age!

Same thoughts here, even years ago same vw service parts in an Audi box more expensive! Sounds impressive I suppose if get asked what make of car you drive.
I half agree with you. What demands a high price is a car with a better finish, and one which is commonly found in a higher specification. I just think that the rift in price between this and a Polo is far too high.
I have a soft spot for the A1 I got my license in a 6 speed manual A1 petrol, that was a fun car. Cheers to my old instructor for choosing such a great car for his driving school.

And because the person who bought the A1 over the Polo is an aspirational little twit, they'll have stretched themselves financially to buy / lease it, so will cut corners on the maintenance to keep costs down e.g replacing the factory fit tyres with a mixed set of cheap Chinese rubbish.
Agree. At these price levels & age of the vehicles, loads of people will be paying out thousands for something that will only last another couple of years in the hands of the average UK buyer.
I fully agree. In early 2019, we bought a 4 year old 42,000 mile Citroen C3 Picasso diesel for £6000 and this from a franchised Citroen dealer so it was not even a particularly cheap example either. It seems insane that almost 6 years on, C3 Picassos of similar age and mileage to ours are still selling on Autotrader for around £6000.
Don't think they'll be going down anytime soon...with government pushing electric car production, supply of petrol cars is only getting tighter and demand still remains high

After watching many of your videos and regularly hearing "Ive overspent", I think you need to allow a £1000 on top of your buying price to turn these cars around!
What a shed for £6k , totally unloved and abused.....just sold my Golf that looked like it had just rolled out of the showroom for half that , the new owner a very lucky guy.
You deserved the ticket mate as always parking on double yellows 🤣
Love your vlogs though....truthfully 😁
20 SECONDS IS WILD😂🎉
Road march I think they are used on f1 cars 😂
Thanks, hard to get anyone to make reg plates over the phone without the documents, but I know you always replace them.
Nice car ,should sell quickly.
Being in the trade and using the same place all the time he'll have an account with them
Plus I have a licence to make plates from the DVLA
I wouldn’t have taken that at 6k,4.5k at most trade,it’s nearly a 10 year old entry level Audi and it’s a 3door,it’s £6995 at most and you haven’t done the cam belt & waterpump either yet,and tbh if I was a retail customer looking to buy I would walk away as soon as I saw them cheap nasty tyres on there!
Did seem a bit on the high side but part ex price is all smoke and mirrors. 5 grand would have sounded better especially given all the body damage and wheels.
@@vincentking5122 so many so called experts on this thread
@@gilesjazzguitar64auto trader value it at £6400 retail and part ex at £5100 for a car in good condition with the cam belt done,so yes it is too expensive,it doesn’t take a genius or an expert to know that when you pay retail for a car that needs work doing to it that you ain’t going to make any money
That car's wheels shout carelessness and neglect
Thought Matt was going to say "Audi A1 for £800. Bought off a trader mate" Small modern cars notcheap
Not getting your high peak plates anymore going to Harrods?
That parking ticket 😂😂
30k new today, after 5 years 15k, 9 yrs 9k.
Do the numbers. Early on it loses 3k pa, then 1k pa.
The sweet spot is around 4 or 5 years old. Low mileage, fault free, cheap motoring with no road tax. 2000 a year plus petrol should be your budget. At 9 years old you will spend almost as much due to wear.
3:42 who needs parking sensors when you can just use your alloys?
Not bad looking car inside and out, I certainly can see why women go from a fiat 500 and then upgrade to this ( not being sexist but know a few that have done just that ) the interior seems a step up from other manufactures of a small size car and pretty good mpg. Another thing the price is pretty good for a 10 year old car esp when you look at the price I have been offered for my evoque in great condition full service history and on a 68 plate prices are about £6500 seems insane how much I lost on this car not worth me buying another car for awhile
Audi nailed this facelift era of A1 inside and out. The one that followed never really hit the mark for me.
Why not take it to get the paint done - then film the paint drying 😅
Even the parking tickets up north are cheaper 😅
