    Another great review Barrie. Thanks. Did you find the 1.6tdi underpowered for general driving? Pulling out of junctions and accelerating away for example? Thanks in advance

      no i think they are pretty good, but i never drive fast myself, it might be different if you are trying to nip out into oncoming traffic but it is pretty nippy

    Would people recommend 1.6 TDI Passat 2011? Are they reliable. I hear mixed reviews and wary on reliability

    • @BarrieCrampton
      @BarrieCrampton  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they arent as good as they used to be, but still more reliable than most, however injectors seem to be prone to going and they cost about £350 each

    Hi Barrie…great review. I’m wanting to buy VW PASSAT unsure 1.6TDI or 2.0TDI GT Estate. You stated only £20 Tax1.6 & also viewed 2.0 £30 Tax but I’m seeing that 2017 1.6/2.0 TDI GT both £165 ?? Was wanting GTE but heard rumours that particular model has issues & also doesn’t deliver 31miles from electric engine ??
    Thanks

    • @BarrieCrampton
      @BarrieCrampton  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tax on them changed from 2017, there is a 5 year premium so less than 5 year old you may need to pay £340 (i think) on top of the road tax shown, but earlier ones are just £20

      @@BarrieCrampton How reliable are PASSATs do the 1.6 & 2.0 diesels hit there mpg statements & what engine given the choice would you buy & have U any views & experience regarding GTE models Pros/Cons ??

    • @BarrieCrampton
      @BarrieCrampton  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are pretty good, id just get a diesel one, preferably the 2.0, but make sure you drive them both and see which you prefer

      @@thebadgerno.1872 just want to add that the 1.6 TDI is a great engine but the engines lower than the 2.0 tdi have a dry DSG if you get one which isn’t known to last very long and have clutch issues, if your going DSG I definitely recommend the 2.0 TDI or if your fine with a manual the 1.6 diesels are great and technically have better fuel economy.
