Portal Movement Tutorial (ABH and AFH)

Hey there. I'm Reassagressta and this is a quick tutorial on how to ABH and AFH in Portal. If this helped, please consider subscribing to my channel and all that stuff.
Console commands:
sv_cheats 1 (not allowed in runs)
noclip (not allowed in runs)
bind mwheelup +jump
bind mwheeldown +jump

I used this tutorial to hopefully learn how to AFH to see where I'm going and hopefully have more control, You can't do anything when your faster than a rocket I'm assuming

So it's all about looking direction and not about pressed key?...

Think about it like this. The game does not like when you go above it's speed limit, or speed cap, so in an attempt to slow you down, it will begin to add speed OPPOSITE to the direction you are traveling. So if I was going forwards faster than the game allows, it would apply speed to me going in the opposite direction until I reach an acceptable speed. The reason this trick works, is when you jump backwards you are ever so slightly above the speed cap, so the game thinks, "Hey Buster, you can't be goin' that fast!" but because you release the "S" Key right afterwards, the game thinks "Well, he' lookin' forwards, so he must be goin' forwards!" and it begins to apply speed backwards on you in an attempt to halt your movements, and the more speed it applies, the faster you go, and the faster you go, the more speed it applies, and your velocity will ramp up exponentially.

That just means you don’t have the saves. You can check out the resources page for Portal on speedrun.com and there should be a download for practice saves. Then you can unzip the folder and drag it into portal\SAVE :)

how much velocity can you gain with ABHing?

alot, normal running is 150 normal bhob is around 250 (I think?) with ABH going much higher into like 5k, the longer you do the faster you get.

Source engine velocity limit: 3500.00. And 3500.00 - maximum of ABH.
