    You can tell this show is from the late 90's-early 00's. Today within the first 5 minutes at least 3 of those neighbors would have taken and posted pictures and videos of that little backyard Parris Island scene, and forever burned any chance Harm ever had of going undercover.

    The Marines are small force. All the long term Marines of the same rank and military specialty know each other. The chance of passing an under-cover off as a gunnery sergeant are slim to none.

    Ok, if this was an undercover operation why would they put him somewhere where he can be compromised by people he knows. Also is he really supposed to soak up 20 years of Marine Corps life in an afternoon at some retired Sgt Maj's house with the entire neighborhood watching. Finally 2/9 is a battalion in an infantry regiment. It would not be commanded by a Captain.

    • @amramjose
      @amramjose 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't speak for a battalion, however our company commander in boot camp (Parris Island) was a 1st Lt.

    • @dancooper6447
      @dancooper6447 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The line companies in infantry battalions are generally commanded by a Captain. The Battalion XO is a Major and the Battalion CO is a LtCol. I was in 2/9 from February 1982 - September 1985 when it was at Camp Margarita, Camp Pendleton, CA. Later, 2/9 was deactivated and then later reactivated some years later at Camp Lejeune, NC. This is a normal occurrence during times of a drawdown/plus-up.
      There were never any females in 2/9. I enjoyed JAG, but the military advisor for the show (if there even was one) should have been punched in the forehead. They seldom got anything right.

    If the Marines had wanted that Mssgt to have a neck (or be able to bend it) they would have ISSUED him one! I know a few guys like this, and most are truly scary in their normal environment. That and I have NEVER seen a senior enlisted guy (like this) who would EVER need to report ANYTHING to the CO, they would handle it themselves (either personally, or via the Sargent's mafia ('how would like to spend the next 6 months inventorying the grease in the maintenance locker and standing weekend duty EVERY weekend?'). and rarely at that!

      @@joebates3272 When I went through USN boot camp (yeah I know sar-major), they had just changed from NCO's using direct physical punishment to JUST PTing you till THEY got tired of watching you exercise! This did not prevent instructors from using their 'normal' conversational volume (as loud as they could yell to ensure you HEARD the instruction(s)) and distance (about the time his hat brim hit your chest!)! Our Company Commander was an extremely sharp Senior Chief Ship's Serviceman, named Olaes (this would turn out to be his last company, the CO of the NTC would deep dip him to be her new Master Chief of the Command about two weeks after we graduated). He was about 5'10' (if that) and most of the company was at LEAST that tall (I am 6'5, was actually the SECOND tallest in the company). I was suffering from a pair of matched ear infections (which would result in a 'no marching chit' eventually and doing my freedom run on a stationary bicycle) and would lose my balance at the drop of a hat (literally sometimes, having to look at my feet to keep from falling over). After a (well-deserved) ass chewing I (for the first time in nearly a dozen weeks in boot-camp) succumbed to the temptation and looked down at the top of the Senior Chief's hat. He had a note (on white paper (to partially hide I think) that said 'DON;T EVEN THINK ABOUT LOOKING DOWN AT ME!! LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD! (ALONG WITH AN ADJECTIVE!!)' It was all I could do to NOT bust out laughing!

    There were so many problems with not just this episode but the entire show that I usually laughed my ass off. The same goes for NCIS.
    For example, they'd dash from DC to Norfolk at the drop of a hat and bring people back to DC for interrogation. Evidently, the largest Navy base in the world has neither JAG nor NCIS offices.

    What a load of crap. He could have this sergeant majors retirement cancelled and locked up for the way he treats him. Period. Typical television bull crap.

    This is trash. A Force Recon GySgt showing up out of the blue would be stupid. It's such a small community. There are really only 2 Force Recon Companies in the Marines (not really counting 3rd Force...sorry) So do the math...that means there are about 20 0321 GySgts that have the quals to be in Force. They know each other. This is stupid. I always hated this show. Cheese fest.

      Yeah they definitely skimped on the military advisors in the show. Or hired complete garbage.

      @@napalmstickylikeglue The Navy initially refused to be part of production. Only in later seasons did they work with the show runners to try and get things accurate
