If this video had 10M views the world would be a better place.. loved watching John's evolution into a respected front man for Dead and Co. Thank you, John, for breathing new life into this music.. ⚡🐻💀🌹
holly smokes, i cant believe more people havnt watched this video. this truly shows how talented he is. to bring the right vibe to each song is true musicianship.
We were too busy out watching him tour with Dead and Company to catch this one! :D :D :D It's nice to see him playing the PRS and bringing a bit of jerry band vibe into the fold with his solo work... i think it is his calling.... not to be garcia, but to be a lot like him with his musical style and folding the GD songbook into his own. GD songbook is great because so many are already covers as is, music that should keep being passed down through generations.
I was at shoreline last year, first time seeing John and the Grateful Dead, when they played Help on the Way, that was the most iv ever been moved by a song
The solo theme he starts low, takes an octave higher and higher and repeats the phrase and then weaves back into the soliloquy .... that moment he spoke some WORDS
Man, these Deadheads need to let JM breathe at Dead and co shows. He clearly loves the music and is made transcendent by it. you see what happens when he’s not under the weight of tremendous criticism. He’s soaring big time here.
@@skinnyblisks127 he gets freedom but deadheads don't let him breathe. Everything wrong with dead and company shows is all blamed on him. He clearly can do whatever the fuck he wants and nail it. Some deadheads understand it and some don't.
@@2911sagar Not true. I love John and what he brings to the table...now if Mickey would just put down the Twizzlers and play with some real sticks like the old days...🤣
What a vision of Robert Hunter’s appreciation of the Grateful Dead’s live power...”The flame from your stage has now spread to the floor...” Man I love that! And that same flame has now spread to John Mayer.
I heard this song done many many years ago at a fireworks show by a local band. Now about 50 years later I finally tracked it down by Grateful Dead (they didn't do it as well as the local band). So I got the bright idea of looking up cover songs and tried a couple and that's when I saw it by Mayer. Knew the guitar was going to be awesome as well as the vocals.
Long distance runner, what you standin' there for? Get up, get out, get out of the door Your playin' cold music on the barroom floor Drowned in your laughter and dead to the core. There's a dragon with matches that's loose on the town Takes a whole pail of water just to cool him down. Fire! fire on the mountain! Almost ablaze still you don't feel the heat It takes all you got just to stay on the beat. You say it's a livin', we all gotta eat But you're here alone, there's no one to compete. If mercy's a business, i wish it for you More than just ashes when your dreams come true. Fire! fire on the mountain! Long distance runner, what you holdin' out for? Caught in slow motion in a dash for the door. The flame from your stage has now spread to the floor You gave all you had. why you want to give more? The more that you give, the more it will take To the thin line beyond which you really can't fake. Fire! fire on the mountain!
Bobby should stick to Bobby tunes and John Mayer should take a stab at Jerry tunes. Just like this video. Love it. It is just unnatural and weird to me to hear Bobby sing Jerry's songs. I cant even imaging Bobby singing Morning Dew.
Do Dead & Co not play Morning Dew? I apologize for my ignorance, I go to DSO for my GD fixes. Only been to a couple Dead & Co gigs. They're fine, I just prefer DSO. I been down with them longer snd since they started covering 60s shows and doing more elective set lists they leveled up imo...✌
Well once again Mayers inability to sing ruins what might otherwise be OK. So sad. I guess you can put out whatever crap you want when your audience lacks critical listening skills

OMG he is just a dream come true for anyone with a decent sense of good music
Love it dude! Yep, totally agree. I shamefully thought he was a mediocre player (inserts foot in mouth).
holly smokes, i cant believe more people havnt watched this video. this truly shows how talented he is. to bring the right vibe to each song is true musicianship.
Yeah buddy! I was there... awesome show!
Del Dudley that is so cool!

+Christopher Hazard agree. right on
I was at shoreline last year, first time seeing John and the Grateful Dead, when they played Help on the Way, that was the most iv ever been moved by a song
I could listen to Steve and Pino lay down the rhythm on Dead tracks forever. Gives the song a different feel for sure.
He added the rif from California at the end. Same way they put a rif from Scartlet Begonias when they do Scarlet-Fire. Pretty Cool JM.
Ngl this is the best fire on the mountain i've ever heard... Come back to this video every once in a while
Same 🐻⚡
His phrasing on the first part of the second solo is just phenomenal.
I love the Dead, JM, and Dead and Co. All the music eases my soul
The solo theme he starts low, takes an octave higher and higher and repeats the phrase and then weaves back into the soliloquy .... that moment he spoke some WORDS
The fact I understand what you mean says a lot on your description! Very well said I LOVE that part of the solo!!!
That solo starting at 3:30 🕞 is fire 🔥 unreal all over the fretboard
Mark absofreakinlutely! There’s no denying his talent and love of music/guitar
This man knows his roots too well, crazy good solo and it sounds nearly effortless
We need the audio from queen of California proceeding this. Incredible compilation
Aidan Tooker that vids on TH-cam if you search the two song names. Its like 14 minutes i think
hahaha
Pino Palladino is just so cool, man.
One of my favorite versions of my favorite dead songs
Man, these Deadheads need to let JM breathe at Dead and co shows. He clearly loves the music and is made transcendent by it. you see what happens when he’s not under the weight of tremendous criticism. He’s soaring big time here.
What do you mean? He gets ALL the freedom he wants.
Lmao what. If anything D&C gives him the freedom to do whatever he wants unlike his fans who probably thought this song was a new single
@@skinnyblisks127 he gets freedom but deadheads don't let him breathe. Everything wrong with dead and company shows is all blamed on him. He clearly can do whatever the fuck he wants and nail it. Some deadheads understand it and some don't.

This clearly tells that John's music through his BornnRaised era to the ParadiseValley era was deeply influenced by american country and GD.
yes exactly!
Hes got a thing for the classics which is why i love him. His own music should reflect his love for the classics and he could be what weve waited for
Amazing job with the editing. Thank you so much
Kickass Solo man...made my day
So cool! Notice the Queen of California tune at the end.
Queen Of California preceded Fire On The Mountain. Search on TH-cam for a fan-recorded video of the whole performance. It's amazing!
This is one of my favorite solos of John Mayer in a long time min 3:32 love the García influence in the new John Mayer guitar style of playing
What a vision of Robert Hunter’s appreciation of the Grateful Dead’s live power...”The flame from your stage has now spread to the floor...” Man I love that! And that same flame has now spread to John Mayer.
What you said is Cool
I hope he releases this show on CD-DVD.
Stunning could listen all day thru the night
I LOVE THIS!!!

Yaaasssss John! ❤️
Damn he crushes Fire on the Mountain!
Amazing.
I liked the whole queen of california>FOTM thing... kind of a jerry band vibe to it all. things that make ya go hmmmm
I expect that this song will be added to his new album
It won't

Nicely done!
If you mean him - I agree! If you mean me on the mix....Thx!
Hahahahaha! I meant both. 😉
Could 3:31 be considered an Art Attack?! Thank you John for bringing me somewhere i dont deserve...❤️
If you listen to this, and still don't think he can do the Dead thing, you can't be helped.
ty
How did you film this???? I count at least 4 different angles, and all the transitions are seem less. The audio is amazing. Are you a professional?
The sources are all listed right in the details.
Best fire on the mountain I’ve ever heard John solo to
5:12
Lick at 4:52 is absolutely insane Wow
The SHIT 😎👏👏
He s better than Jerry?
Well once again Mayers inability to sing ruins what might otherwise be OK. So sad. I guess you can put out whatever crap you want when your audience lacks critical listening skills
