Wonder why Yamaha didn’t consult the YT peanut gallery when engineering the R9? Everyone here seems to a high level degrees in physics and moto design. They could have saved so much money 😅
I rode the R1 and it’s an overkill on the road whereas the R7 felt a bit under power for advanced riders. I believe the R9 will be perfect on the streets.
I really hope either Yamaha or the aftermarket makes a set of fairings that get rid of those stupid winglets. Zero reason to have them outside of closed course racing. If that happens I will probably end up getting one.
Winglets can help with stability at highway speeds if done right 👍 allows you to make a lighter bike with a pointy front end that's still confident in the high speed/ windy scenarios
An MT-09 with a fairing & winglets. Ok, if that is what someone wants, good for them. I prefer a high revving inline 4 cylinder. They just sound & feel amazing once the cat comes off & ECU is flashed💯🔥✔️💪🏾
Like I wrote last year when nobody believed me when I said there is an R9 coming out in / around 2025, I just wished really hard that Yamaha would not put the clip-ons so low down at the side of the tank like they had on their R6, R1 and also the R7. These bikes just have a riding position that does not rhyme well with the street and weekend rides for hours with friends. This bike is still more set up for track than the street, even though it has passenger pegs yes =) , the riding triangel is far to extreme, those clipons on the R9 looks exactly like how low the clip-ons was on my friends Ducati Panigale 959 that he sold again after riding it for a week. He did not want to ride it more out in the street than 60 min then home again because he got cramp and pain in his back So that was my biggest concern when I first heard about Yamaha buying up the patent and stuff for the R9 model/bike name a couple of years back, that they were going to build this bike more like a track-bike than a sportbike for the street =( I could never own or even fit on a bike like that without getting cramps in legs and so on. Why Yamaha did not make the riding position more like Aprilia RS660 or Ducati Supersport 950S where you are still sporty but more comfortable, you can be outside riding for a whole day on those bikes without any real issues, that would have made the R9 a much better street-bike and then many could have it as their only bike. Now it is almost like riding around on a R6 on the road position-wise which most people stopped doing when naked bikes / sporty street-bikes almost took over supersports completely on the road =) Try test--riding a Ducati Supersport 950S or Aprilia RS 660 if you have not already, I can promise you after one hour on those and the R9, which of those bikes you would prefer riding around the rest of the day on.
@@auntjanet2346 thanks for the tip, I never thought of than before. No I will be going with something like the Ducati Supersport S, very comfy yet still sporty and I like the sportstyled motorcyles a lot
Love it. Wings and all. It is functional but only at top speed. But it adds to the look. Who needs bikes? But we all ride them. Who needs wings? Not the average rider but we want them.
I can hear the disgusting sound coming out of it when people are revving it just to flex how awful the sound is. Like gargling Listerine or something, and the spit as icing on the cake 🤭
I like the look of the bike! Only that hole under the tank 😖 one thing is for sure it will sound bad same as the mt09 no matter what exhaust you put on it simply it sounds bad !
@adiohead they need it for emissions, plus it's literally the most popular modification people do to their bikes, so why would yamaha waste valuable resources on it outside of passing emissions and volume testing?
that exhaust has always looked so strange and uncool. im sure theres good reason for it - design, weight, emissions, etc. But i hope owners go aftermarket immediately!
This fad of winglets needs to stop. None of these bikes require winglets with the exception of the one percent who write them in MotoGP. Especially a bike as relatively slow and underpowered as this one. All this does is illustrate the human syndrome of ADD and needing something new into different.
@@High_Octane it is...why would you need an R9 when R1 basically is the dope of yamaha!!! Id go straight for R1 why waste my money on this junk!!! and yes the winglets is stupid its just form no function.
@@ReyZata-r5w Oh I dunno... Double the cost is something someone might look at, Maybe the R1 being tool to get around a race track and being a track orientated machine that makes a outright terrible street bike could possibly be another. Things like that, I own a 2024 Hayabusa and would take a R9 before a R1. I've ridden R1's. I really hate them. Peaky uncomfortable overpriced machines is what i got off thinking about them. But hey, If brochure numbers or internet points matter to you (which is the only reason I got a busa obviously, not comfort reliability and making a good street bike or being able to take a passenger on a life changing pull) than a R1 could be a good fit, or of course your a seasoned rider than can utilize a R1 around a track and not really care about street riding.
So you have no idea what you're talking about then. They were targeting the space left vacant by the r6 (which had 117hp), this bike has 117hp with room to grow, and almost as much torque as an r1

Exactly, the CP3 is the unicorn sweet spot imo. I love my MT10 but sometimes even that is too much for the lower speed roads.

The CP3 is a wheelie monster, it needs downforce 🤣, even those corny aftermarket wings for the MT09 do actually help.

nope
