    Great stuff, John!
    As a mechanical engineer, user of SolidWorks, fan of speedway, and recumbent newbie, I'd love to have a nose around Geoff Bird's velo some time.

      I have a few "thrills and spills" videos from the Bendigo and Maryborough events. Nothing else is like watching a 100 of the trikes navigating through the "crash corners" where they approach at close to 60kmh and leave upside down :D

    Have just made it back to S.A. on Monday 20th, so an catch up on all things Recumbent and Velomobile. ( VELO-ADS; LBR & The Velomobile Channel ).
    Well done on an excellent coverage of the World Championships, John. Glad to have had a chat to you. Seems like we "Bent Riders" are a breed of our own.
    Also managed to see and chat to Mike Burrows and Gary Solomon.
    What made the Championships for me was to see so many different Recumbents, both Rear and front wheel drive, High & Low Racers; Trikes and Velomobiles. This added to and made my U.K. visit one of my Highlights.

    Victorinox? Don't they make chef's knives? I prefer Sab's. Those lot were really clocking up the speed! I am just trying to work out a trike for hills, well, Pennine hills....good brakes and great gears I think. I've got one bike working and the other nearly there, but i think tubeless is the option for me, fed up of flats. However, I have managed 3 rides - Colne to Skipton, Colne to Chorley, Colne to Preston - better roads there and some cycle-ways were okay. The hill I live on is a 1 in 12 and 1 in 7 lower down so I come through the park across the street from me which makes me less nervous on the climb. Strava says it's a medium hill - for 20 somethings maybe for an old boy like me it's extremely tough.

    • @coniow
      @coniow 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mark Doney-McCloud, have you thought of using a Schlumph Mountain Drive up front? Has the same effect as "Low Range" on a 4x4 all terrane vehicle, the selector goes through the bearing spindle, kick with one heel for high range, the other heel for low range, and gives a phenominal range of gears, with out the hassle of a front derailleur. This I have been told, and I hope it is correct as I have one ordered with a Quattrovelo, as I too live at the top of a hill. After 16.5 miles and a night shift, it is like a kick in the nuts for the last half mile. I had a Neodrives hub pedal assist fitted 2 years ago to my ICE Adventure, (it now has 7000 miles on it), and that makes ALL the difference, (I can ride to work 5 nights a week instead of running out of puff after 4 :-), even on the lowest setting.
      As for punctures, Panaracer "Flataway" tire liner Kevlar felt is very good. I have been using it on a pair of Schwalbe Mad Mike fronts for 2200 miles, the number of small slits and holes in them is frightening, you can see all the water marks in the tape where things have gone through, but NOT caused a puncture. A sharp thorn (like a crewel needle) will still get through, but a thumb-tack will not. "Wiggle" in Portsmouth have the best price on-line, but I have had a problem ordering today, (as I need some for my new fronts).
      I know what you mean about 'being ok for 20 somethings.' I am a 50-something who rides for enjoyment, (bugger fitness, that is just a by-product :-), as long as I get to my destination and enjoy the scenery, it matters not how long it takes. I believe that life is in the journey and we all have the same ultimate destination: A 6 foot x 2 foot pine box, and I have no wish to reach mine any faster. . . . . . . .

    Hi John. Love your videos and the coverage of this event - great stuff. I followed the link to the results page and was wondering what all of the abbreviations meant ie O, F, P, U, MF, M, Pf, Uf, MFf and J. I am guessing that J is Junior, Pf is part-faired(?) but am sort of unsure about the others. Cheers

    OK, you're filming something where the whole point - the whole drama, the whole thing all your audience is interested in - is speed. If you mess with the speed, your audience cannot trust your video, it loses all its informative value. Not a bit of it, not part of it, not half of it, all of it.
    There are particular areas - crash analysis, for example - where slow motion might be of technical value, but it adds nothing in this situation. It just renders the dramatic undramatic, the informative uninformative, the trustworthy untrustworthy.
    Just don't. Don't ever. Don't at all.

      wow wow, you're too serious, his channel isnt spensoring the event or a pro journalist, he runs his own business and is reviewing the velomobs

    • @casualguy393
      @casualguy393 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will have to disagree. We do want to see the speed, but snippets of slow motion are perfectly fine since they are mostly blurs at that speed.

    Its so sad, this guy John Williams whos filming is going to burn in Hell someday. I like his videos but he refuses to believe in Jesus Christ. Denying Christ secures your place in hell unless you repent.

      Jesus Christ isnt a religion. Just block me again like you did on Face Book. God gave me a message to give to you, Ive done my part, its up to you to contemplate it. Repent, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Jesus Christ will judge the living and the dead.
