HIS EXCELLENCY, an Ashenden Spy Detective Story by Somerset Maugham

Ashenden arrives in the capital of a divided belligerent state and is tasked with navigating a delicate mission involving vast sums of money and covert support to opposing factions. He meets the British Ambassador, Sir Herbert Witherspoon, who greets him with cold politeness and the American Ambassador, Mr. Wilbur Schäfer, who is more affable but indiscreet. Ashenden must balance his secretive mission while maintaining diplomatic decorum, especially as Schäfer's indiscretions pose a risk.

Yes. His description of the two ambassadors and the effortless
style are Maugham at his best .
Not sure what happened after the
halfway point....??? Or the AI voice ? But even AI Maugham is better
than none.....
