Back then cameras were actually able to record in very high quality. Much higher than TV's were able to display. That's why it was easy to remaster and make blu ray versions of old movies.

In the era that these shows were made the presenters had to rely on their stage presence and acting abilities, they didn’t have the special effects and cgi of today, it was merely their talent that could either make or break a show.

It must've been so exciting! 👍I acted in a Mc Donald's manager training video as a cashier, and I played a waitress in a Pizza hut employee training film. I didn't have any lines in the Pizza hut job, but it was still loads of fun. That was over 40 years ago. Which episode were you on? I'd love it you could drop a link to it in a reply if you're able & willing. 😊Take care, love. *SHALOM* 💜🙏❤🙏💜

I read from the top till reaching your comment and surprise surprise your comment was the one I looked at as I was also one in 1959. But I am the complete oppositw od your opinion about them being far above any thing today or that they are gripping. I find them totally mad. More one step beyond sanity than real. So therefore they are not plauable. Of course fiction is a popular genre.

A lot of the spiritualist/psychic concepts in this series ping for me as things my grandmother and her sisters believed in. They and their mother (who died in middle-age) were ardent spiritualists. I wasn't a believer, despite my grandmother's efforts to recruit me as a child medium. But now she's gone, I've been looking into spiritualism as something that shaped the loves and lives of the sisters and my great-grandmother. Modern spiritualism comes from Victorian times, starting w the Fox sisters in 1848 in the Burned-over district of New York State, then spread throughout the Anglo-European world and also, in its late 19th-early 20th century churches, hosted the Suffragette movement that brought women the vote in many countries, including here in Australia.
If you want to step back in time to Victorian spiritualism, sit in the audience of mediumship show in your town.

Actually I should have kept this for Christmas on Boxing Day night, when I sit up into the small hours watching a ghost story or two. In th story about the New England haunting I notice that there was a similarity in personality between the old sea captain and Andrew ,who was a selfish, domineering chraracter. I couldn't help thinking that the marriag was not destined to last long.

One Step Beyond, The Burning Girl episode, could possibly be where a young, 12 year old, Stephen King, got the ideas for both Carrie and Fire Starter. The girls aunt treats her in much the same way Carrie's mother behaved toward Carrie. And of course in the Fire Starter the little girl has the ability to start fires. As I was watching The Burning Girl It was almost like watching both Carrie and Fire Starter.

I watched this TV series all the time when it was first broadcast on ABC-TV from 1959 to 1961, and it was quite comparable to Rod Serling's Twilight Zone at that same time. Classic supernatural ventures into the unknown. Some episodes were entirely fictional, while others were allegedly true stories. One of my favorites is the true story about the supernatural events surrounding the death of President Abraham Lincoln. I would love to see that one again!

I have occasionally, dreams in which I go, walk through, get lost in,etc places that I know I’ve never lived or even been and yet when I have these dreams I’m completely there. I go places with my sister who has been dead for a long time. My mother tries to crawl up the steps to me, begging me to help her and let her in because she’s so sick and cold, and yet she’s been dead for many years. I see and talk to people who I know that I’ve never met, yet they are as, and the places I go in those dreams are real. So at those times, I’m truly living in the “Outer Limits” or “The Twilight” zone. It’s major creepy and scary. 😳😳😳😱😱😱

About 82 years ago, scientists discovered that it is possible to be in two locations at the same time, at least for an atom or a subatomic particle, such as an electron. For such tiny objects, the world is governed by a madhouse set of physical laws known as quantum mechanics. Furthermore, there's the fact that two separated particles can interact instantaneously, a phenomenon called quantum entanglement. This principle of quantum mechanics suggests that particles can exist in two separate locations at once.
