Same very old 4-cylinder engine as the Hilux Bakkie and the Fortuner Dissappointing for an "entirely new" vehicle in this price range Inside it is certainly a step up as far as ergonomics and electronics are concerned Outside, I liked the latest facelift of the previous Prado more This seems to be more like a new model for the LX Cruiser Wagon - and I doubt if the buyers of those heavy off-road tractors make-up the bulk of the owners of previous generators of Prados I had and loved both of the previous shape Prados - for over 17 years combined - but I am on the fence on this eagerly awaited new model. Hopefully we see better 6-cylinder engines in this new Prado in time to come 😰
Hey Justin. Our driving experience on tar was somewhat limited by the fact that we drove from Maputo to the coast in convoy and subject to somewhat conservative national speed limits. However, the combination of the familiar 2.8 diesel engine and new eight speed automatic transmission makes for effortless and smooth progress. The powertrain is responsive in overtaking manoeuvres but the route was virtually flat, so we can't comment on gradient ability. What deserves special mention is the highly accomplished suspension setup: we traversed some nightmarish roads, travelling inland from the White Pearl and the double wishbone/multilink suspension is both compliant and well-damped. It is safe to say that there are very few driving conditions that would unsettle the passengers inside a Land Cruiser Prado.
So the next generation Toyota Fortuner will be less spec'd since it will share the same power train as the Prado. So people might as well wait for the Fortuner 😅
Why does Toyota vary the models so much around the world? Just pick the best combination and offer it … Australia seems to be missing out on some models including engine choice.
Significant step from the previous version... Please explain? Different gearbox, other than that everything is a sales gimmick. The new models don`t even have air suspension due to costs, so you are losing, not gaining at this stage if you trade the previous version.
Even same engine,I mean they don't want to talk about engine they just brush it off,why atleast 165kw in the Toyota Hilux gr sport,11 seconds ? Even Toyota cross does a 100 in 8 seconds, please this is not good enough for 1.5m
I think my 18 year old Pajero can do everything this new Prado can do. On top of that it will not get hijacked and, most importantly, I don't have to fork out more than a million bucks just to get one.
They made two mistakes with this vehicle. They should have offered the vehicle with the round headlights(not just first edition cars) and not the rectangular ones. They should also have offered it in the 3.3 V6 diesel offered in the cruiser.
Hey Leon. The good news is that if you choose the VX-R model with the full LED headlights, you can have the round units fitted by a Toyota dealer. They are available as regular replacement units and use the same wiring, etc. As for the drivetrain, different engine and transmission options are available in different markets - Australia and the US for example, both employ derivatives that differ from ours - and the 2.8 GD-6 was deemed to be the most suitable/popular option for Southern Africa. That being said, Toyota did not rule out the possibility that additional engine options might join the line-up in future, so if enough people express demand for the bigger V6 unit, who knows?
@@TheIgnitionTVchannel We will never see the v6 in the Prado. What will happen to the 300 series? Toyota is cutting their own throat by introducing the v6 in the 300 series. The v6 should have been reserved for the Pickup 70 series and Prado. Now there is only "cosmetic differences between a Fortuner and Prado, and if they sell the Prado with the v6, the 300 Series will be absolute due to the price difference. Lets rather hope we see a v8 in the 300 series, then the the v6 "might" be on the table for the Prado and other Cruisers.
Toyota killed v8 coz of emissions and stuff, prado will always have same engine as Fortuner and now wonder why people buy Prados with the same engine as Fortuner, but Fortuner top range 4x4 auto so cheaper, and new Fortuner coming 2026 obviously will look much better than old 2024 prado
Well done Toyota Well done (Mr HowMuch)❤❤
Well I gotta say looking at this compared to previous model, I love the new design. It looks new, relevant and funky.
Nice upgrade, but the previous model still not that bad. Wish they had another engine option
Same very old 4-cylinder engine as the Hilux Bakkie and the Fortuner

Outside, I liked the latest facelift of the previous Prado more

Nice review! Which colour white is the vehicle in the video?
I'm crazy in love with this car ❤❤❤❤❤
The round headlights are my preference.
So are we not getting the hybrid in SA
….is Africa South getting the Heritage blue colour option…?
What’s that color in the video called?
I'm not a test driver for Toyota, will wait a few years, my J150 1KD still runs as new. Take care!
What’s it like on the road? I get it it’s a great 4x4 , that is expected, handling and tar?

@@TheIgnitionTVchannel cheers chaps, much appreciated, be good to have a follow up review in Sa, thank you
Love the design but worry about being hijacked and then not sure about the price compared to LC300
That's an interesting question and good observation. The top Prado is 1.45Million ZAR and the lowest spec LC300 is the same price (almost).
So the next generation Toyota Fortuner will be less spec'd since it will share the same power train as the Prado. So people might as well wait for the Fortuner 😅
Well-done Toyota 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Can you get a second battery and also is there a 150L tank option?
Ah, Mr how much❤❤❤❤❤❤
same old Toyota problem, no stock available.

Does your Pajero have Bluetooth audio
Expensive. Same price as the LC 300 😢
Great car. BUT, owning one in SA is just asking to be hijacked.. 😬
I very much doubt you're sitting at 7.1/100km, more likely 7.1km/l
Seems correct, 13 l/100 km offroading, 10+ onroad ..
We got the crap version in the US. A slow hybrid 4 cylinder, no third row.
This ancient 150kw 4 cylinder diesel we get here in SA is not much better
Too much overpriced

Over 1 million for a Toyota?? Wtf 😂
Polo 1.0 TSI is half million, Please respect prado
