Active recall is a life changer. I switched majors from nursing, but I got my first A in pharmacology doing active recall. Advice from a High School Senior: Please please please work hard your Freshman and Sophomore year. The classes are very easy and will help boost your overall GPA when it is time to apply for college. I did alright my first 2 years but completely bombed my Junior year. Now entering my Senior year, I have to work twice as hard to makeup for Junior year. Now looking back I could of saved myself from extra stress now.
I had previously taken your tips into consideration for my online lectures and I got a total of 89% for my second semester Software Engineering Course. Well I am flattered that you wanna hear my routine😉. Here is what I do: Step 1- The first thing I did was organize my notes and lectures in Notion. I organized them weekly, just like Janice advised. I learnt that if you don't organize stuff then you can easily lose track of the things that you learnt that day. So step 1 is very important. Step 2- Plan your study sessions. If you don't plan your day then you will easily get overwhelmed when you know that you are lagging in so and so subject . And the procrastinated work will build up, so its important that you plan your day. Be firm and give yourself the designated study time and actually do it. Step 3- Set study goals. Step 4- Take breaks. It's essential to take a little amount of break so that you don't get overwhelmed with the constant studying. Play a game in that time or watch TH-cam videos so that your mind calms down from the anxiety of the pile of work that you need to do. Step 5- Do every work assigned to you before the expiration date. In other words don't procrastinate and cram. Maybe cramming here and there is fine, just don't do it all the time😁. Step 6- Test yourself. Give yourself a test of each subject on a particular day of the week. Test yourself based on what you studied in the entire week and assign yourself questions. After your lecturer completes your syllabus, assign yourself a final test of the entire syllabus of the subject. That way you can know your standing in the subject and improve the parts where you lack. I do this with every subject and repeat this every semester now. This routine is the reason my grades improved. I hope this helps you.😊

@@SJokes Do you happen to have a transcript that you can access? For example my school uses infinite campus where we can check are grades and assignments but there is also a button/tab on the website where you can access your transcript. The transcript isn’t finalized but it gives you an estimate of your previous years in Highschool and tells you your gpa based on the years you have finished. If your school doesn’t have something like that you can always ask your advisor/counselor/staff if they can help you figure out your gpa. Also I’m not fully sure what gpa stands for but I’m pretty sure it’s along the lines of “grade point average” don’t quote me on that though because I’m remembering off the top of my head. I used to get 4.0 back in high school and foundation studies. But once i entered medical school, everything has changed 🥲 I am at the verge of giving up but this video boosted my motivation. Thanks!
As a 2.75 student, just remember: if it is important to you you will get it done and will succeed. How you make academia important to you is the challenge.
I do the exact same thing with the amount of effort and energy ever since highschool! I realized that it was much easier to work and study really hard at the beginning of the year/semester and by the end when we are all tired I could let go a little without having to worry about my marks.
active recall is so important for me! i always make flashcards on quizlet or goodnotes! aesthetic notes don't make sense for me when it comes to actually studying because you're just passively reading them and don't have anything to answer. i always do quizlet, wether it's english, german, latin, history, politics, etc! Just for maths and physics I don't do that because I'm too busy calculating and going through hours of problems to solve😂
Im here trying to improve myself to be more organised and study efficiently!! Trying to get 4.0 cuz my latest gpa was only 3.8🤲🏻🤲🏻need support from yall
OMG 4.0 in a nursing program.. I have a 3.97 in mine, I got my first B+ around a year ago with Fundamentals. My prof kept changing the format of the questions every exam and would tell us we didn’t have to know certain things even when we did. It was horrible. She tried writing her own questions instead of using an exam bank and the amount of weird wording and spelling errors was insane... Needless to say, most of the class got a C even though we were all mostly 4.0 students. 😭
My macroeconomics professor did the same. Wrote his own exams and omg, what a mess. For starters, English wasn’t his first language so the questions were so awkward. He kept emailing us corrections because the exams were riddled with errors. It was the worst. I got a C+ in the class and cried. Luckily my school implemented the credit/no credit option so I was able to save my GPA. I’ve only ever gotten As before so that experience hit hard.
I have little motivation to study solely because I do not have a proper study place. The desk I have is occupied by my laptop and there is no space to place the books I am going to be studying, and I also need the laptop while I study for quick google searches and many other things. I may sound very demanding but I really cannot hold my concentration long enough because of this. But I also think getting my own relaxing and comfortable study space will really help me. There is just.. way too many distractions around me. Really hope things get better soon..
so glad my school's portal has a grade calculator built into it !!! it helps me to be motivated and see what i need to do to get the highest grade possible in my classes
I’m in high school and I’ve got like 3 years until finals exams and stuff but I’m preparing early for college exams as I have the dream of having my own company but yeah back to the topic I’m trying to let myself know what I need to pass the exams, my weaknesses, what I I’ve got to improve on and all of that. For some reason I feel like I’ve been doubly hard working and I’ve been participating and having the highest attendance this months (which is good) but I feel like my teachers just don’t see it... I’m trying my best on everything I do even what I’m not interested on but I still feel like all my teachers just don’t see my hard work. But anyways that actually doesn’t matter as long as I’m doing something I’m passionate about and I get good grades to pass everything and I have high attendance and participation I’m happy with it because I know I will get to my dream :)
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I am a freshman in high school, and I JUST STARTED my second quarter today. I got a 4.2 GPA, but that's because I had an honors class (Honors Integrated Math 2) I did have all A's but I really struggled. Now I don't have any honors classes for the quarter. It was quite a transition. I hope these tips can help me!
Top 6 is really useful, because talking from my stand point, I had tough last study year (considering it was the 1st year, so even more harder than usually) just because I spent all my time behind the desk studying all my free time. NEVER DO LIKE THIS, because time spending studying does not correlate with your success.
Hello! I discovered your video at the beginning of last year, and I took some of your tips into consideration for my college career. Fall 2023 was my first semester at my new college, and though I was nervous, I believed I could do well. With help from Notions, asking my professor questions, and checking Canvas every day, I ended up with straight A's at the end of the semester, thanks to you and Ana Pike's videos. I confidently say that I'm a 4.0 student, and that I'm ready to take on the next semester.
I am a nursing student and would love to be able to use Notion but every time I try I am just so overwhelmed by it all that I give up. How do you learn to set up the databases and program everything how you want it? It seems like it would take forever and time is not something i have extra of most days lol
Same bro , we’ve just started the course and we still don’t fully have all the entire timetable so that makes it even harder to actually organise ourselves. And also they change it so much it’s so stressful ugh
it does take too long so i ended uo dedicating my 1 week academic break to organize it and i actually ended up not failing so much in my classes anymore! although i understand your a nursing student so it must be hard
I'm in a similar spot😭 I'm just trying to graduate with a 3.0+ so I can at least get a masters. I've honestly given up on med school cuz I screwed up so much. We'll achieve our new goals though!
Hey Janice I know I am really late but congratulations on becoming an RN I found your channel a couple months ago and i am binging it ever since ps. can you make a video talking about your life as an RN
this might seem cheesy but whenever i’m in a rut it’s almost like coincidence that i see your videos on my timeline 😅 this is just the motivation i need to get back on my grind this quarter ! thank you ❤️
ugh aiming for that 4.0 but 90-92% counts as a 3.7 at my uni. going strong so far into my 2nd yr but i guess there's no wiggle room to slack off at the end of the semester for me :/
Hey, thanks for this video! I started college recently (now 10 weeks in) and I really am super super unmotivated now so this video sort of pushed me a little. Hopefully I can fully apply what I have learnt here to my future semesters!
As a 4.0 student, studying comes in many ways and mines is to teach the concept to the air. Another tip is that don’t start studying the day before because you will feel pressured. Hope this helps
This semester i took all syllabus and i organized everything. Then my professors changed everything in the middle of the semester, god i have never been more lost
i’m a chemistry student, aiming to get into the course in uni next year (weird education system), an A is 80% and Dist is top 5% of the cohort. i’m a strong procrastinator, usually plan two weeks before the exam but only start one or two days before the actual test. i’ve gotten better over the semesters and managed to keep a 3.88, it’s my last semester and to grad with a 3.9 i need a 4.0. i’m trying my best to start early and get ahead of my work, i know i’m not a full day study person and get distracted easily. really grateful for the tips.
Active recall plus practise/doing hw is a cheat code for doing well in college/university. The only downside is that it requires a bit more effort than just reading/reviewing your notes and moving on.
Congrats 🎊. I am a Pre- Law student in my senior year of college. I will be attending law school fall of 2022. Thanks for the tips. Good luck in your career.
so i just went through my little sister’s yt history for fun and I saw your channel in her subscriptions hksjsjsj she’s in fifth grade not even in HIGHSCHOOL yet but shes already more organized than me huh🤠
My middle school forced the Cornell notes style on us for several classes so I can’t bring myself to try it again even though it may help me because my memories of note taking style are not pleasant. 😔
I got the same CGPA. I didn’t have a fancy laptop, I didn’t need all these fancy stuff you have. All I had was a mattress on a concrete floor, a budget laptop, pencils and scrap paper. What’s even more is I got the CGPA whilst at the same time doing another diploma.
Kinda sad how many think you need an iPad Pro, Macbook a thousand highlighters, etc. No- hun, you don't need Goodnotes, an apple pencil, and more than a thousand dollars worth of stationary to get a 3.0 and more.
I have come so far..working hard and studying and studying and studying..and I finally got my gpa.. I got a 5.0!!! I have worked so hard to get this :')
I don’t wanna flex but I got a 3.0 without ever studying for a test in college so far In high school I was hovering around 2.0 😂 I wasn’t stupid I was just lazy. It carried into my adult years but I’m just glad I’m not failing
My Routine as a 7th grade student Wake up at 6:30 Go to school for 7 hours Come and at 4:00 and relax until about 5:30 (90 mins) 5:30-6:30- work 7:00-8:00- dinner 9:00- bedtime So I basically don’t even get that much time to be free and play without worrying because of so much going on and I still don’t get straight A’s
i’m going to be having a pre-exams (?) if you would like to call that pretty soon! this video made me want to study once again even though i just finished a session haha ✨
Adding onto the breaking try use the pomodoro technique you study/work for 25mins then break for 5mins during the 5mins don’t use your phone, get some if you water, stretch, lie down, I don’t know just something to help yourself :)
i didn’t even know it but as for my last year in junior high school i think i also started off strong without even knowing about it and doing it intentionally because at the last 2 quarters of my school year i was actually slacking off, i had a lot of works on wait, works i didn’t even bother starting cuz i know i wouldn’t want to do it nways and pass a badly done one, barely attended classes 😧 like bruh i was always missing in action and whenever we had a synchronous group work i was always sleeping (although felt bad for not having been able to help ://) i was so sure of my grades for the first and second quarter that i went chill but still alert on the last two quarters pf the school year !!! so basically goal as a start on my senior high school year is to start off strong and finish off still strong 🤟🏻
4.0 student here. I'm not finished with my bachelor's degree, but I'm currently at 103 credits. I never read the book, I take notes in class SOMETIMES, and I don't really study. School is all about FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS! THAT'S IT. Ya'll, just read the syllabus and the directions for each assignment. Also, ASK QUESTIONS. Teachers love that shit. Plus, if their directions are super convoluted, you can always clarify. It never hurts to clarify, plus they may give you little nuggets of golden cheat codes to make your assignment perfect FOR THE TEACHER. That's another tip: know your audience! If your teacher is goofy and funny, incorporate a little TASTEFUL humor into papers and written response tests. They will be more inclined to give you a better grade if you can make them smile while they are reading the mind numbing jottings of 48 idiot students. Teachers and professors are people too. Be kind to them. And remember: the worst answer they can give you is "no". That's it. But they may not say "no" if you participate in class and/ or ask nicely. Don't be an a$$hole.
I'm at a 3.0 right now undergrad and I'm definitely not a perfect student. I didn't have to study and was in a major I hated for my first two years. For grad school, I want to do better.

@@erinc8874 the person who wrote the comment could be a father too lol
Better yet, let your daughter be herself :) as long as she does well, it's best if she does so in her own way ♡
I really hope if she’s not that brilliant U won’t be disappointed cuz school is hard af😂
@@my_name_is_love agree, you'll become a controlling parent otherwise if you force her to be someone.
I'm another 4.0 student, and starting strong saved me every year. Thanks for the other tips!
start strong, u RIGHT i mean i got a 3.82 in my first sem and was pretty steady throughout that sem but my second sem i got a 4.0 despite burning out at the end
You know what’s goofy - this is the 3rd study tips video I’ve watched today and I already AM a 4.0 student. Lol
you're such a life saver and by the way your notion set up ,i used it for almost 2 weeks and it was a big helpp for meee❤️❤️
I used to get 4.0 back in high school and foundation studies. But once i entered medical school, everything has changed 🥲 I am at the verge of giving up but this video boosted my motivation. Thanks!
How are you now?
I have all A's & I get like 1980 in my SAT last time so yea :) This was really helpful
how’d you get a 1980 on the sat??
I'm a 3.70GPA students. But I'm very insecure with that one friend who got 4.0😂
How u get 4.2 GPA, is that only have maximum 4.0 GPA right
Top 6 is really useful, because talking from my stand point, I had tough last study year (considering it was the 1st year, so even more harder than usually) just because I spent all my time behind the desk studying all my free time.
It seems like it would take forever and time is not something i have extra of most days lol
she has a template that she uses on her website. i totally recommend using it
yeah i realized it takes too much time to organized than to actually finish my tasks
@@_daikon thanks lots!
Grade calculator is a lifesaver !!
Me, an 1.8 GPA with 9 F student listening and trying to get 2.0 GPA so I can graduate 🥺🥺🥺
Do I finish the degree or the degree finishes me? 🥺
good luck!!! you’re almost there💓 you can do it :)
@@bree6988 omg thank you ♥️♥️🥺🥺
Girl. We’re gonna do it ❤️
I'm in a similar spot😭 I'm just trying to graduate with a 3.0+ so I can at least get a masters. I've honestly given up on med school cuz I screwed up so much.
We'll achieve our new goals though!
WHAT?!!! AND HERE I AM CRYING BECAUSE I ONLY GOT 3.22
starting strong had helped me since the 7th grade. a true cheat code.
Hey Janice
I know I am really late but congratulations on becoming an RN
I found your channel a couple months ago and i am binging it ever since
ps. can you make a video talking about your life as an RN
That communication bit and Grammarly plug lol. I don't blame you. Appreciate the study tips!
this might seem cheesy but whenever i’m in a rut it’s almost like coincidence that i see your videos on my timeline 😅 this is just the motivation i need to get back on my grind this quarter ! thank you ❤️
this is EXACTLY what I needed. thank youuuu
Organizations is definitely a game changer💯
ugh aiming for that 4.0 but 90-92% counts as a 3.7 at my uni. going strong so far into my 2nd yr but i guess there's no wiggle room to slack off at the end of the semester for me :/
Which uni do u go to?
@@s.muneeba3944 University of miami. But i know that a lot of schools make an A- a 3.7 gpa
Wow, my uni gives 4.0 when i got 90-100
Hey, thanks for this video! I started college recently (now 10 weeks in) and I really am super super unmotivated now so this video sort of pushed me a little. Hopefully I can fully apply what I have learnt here to my future semesters!
This is actually so smart omg
The putting my self before school first really resonates with me now!! Especially since online school is driving me and everyone crazy
Congratulations on graduating from your nursing degree, Janice! 💖🥳
You can do it!
“take breaks often”
me who has exams almost everyday and does school work from monday to sunday 😢
Janice, i love your voice! ❤️ its so soothing and sweet!
I want to be organized but my school does this thing where they add stuff everyday randomly at any time 🤦🏽♀️, so I’m stuck with whatever.
Oh my thank you for this tips ! Gonna work on it ! Let's get it 4.0 pointer ✨
“Oh crap, I didn’t know that we have a bio test tomorrow!” ACCURATE
I needed this so much right now, especially with online school this year!
I’ve noticed that when I’m stressed I legit shut down. Meaning even if I force myself to sit down and work I can’t focus
I wish to be this organized this semester 😭🙌🏾
Yayy this video is so helpful. I really love your videos Janice. Thank you so much for posting.
Take care💜
Active recall plus practise/doing hw is a cheat code for doing well in college/university. The only downside is that it requires a bit more effort than just reading/reviewing your notes and moving on.
me watching this during class and procrastinating doing my work: -_-
- honeypot films
i see u comment everywhere

Your notes looks so amazing @1:11
I really wish I had found your channel sooner... It would’ve really helped me with virtual schooling.
I love your soothing voice! I love you as a friend!
These Tips are Amazing!! I’m from the UK but I will use these thank you ❤️❤️
My middle school forced the Cornell notes style on us for several classes so I can’t bring myself to try it again even though it may help me because my memories of note taking style are not pleasant. 😔
I'm not even a student but I'm into learning on how to be better in every way 🥰
I downloaded all apps you recommended since I’m planning on studying abroad. Thank you for giving me ALOT more confidence ♥️♥️
Great tips and highly motivating video. Thank you!
"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful."
My off day is full cleaning and running errands
was that a grammarly ad?
I got the same CGPA. I didn’t have a fancy laptop, I didn’t need all these fancy stuff you have. All I had was a mattress on a concrete floor, a budget laptop, pencils and scrap paper. What’s even more is I got the CGPA whilst at the same time doing another diploma.
Kinda sad how many think you need an iPad Pro, Macbook a thousand highlighters, etc. No- hun, you don't need Goodnotes, an apple pencil, and more than a thousand dollars worth of stationary to get a 3.0 and more.
I have cgpa of 3.9 and i did nothing of what she did just play videogames all time and study the night before the exam ez.
I'm dying but this might be accurate enough by now as I'm struggling to learn how to study properly however doubt it'd be helpful in the long term.
Damn your handwriting is good
I wish I had the motivation and parents and environment to do some of these
As a mother of two, full time employee and top of school. Sigh... will try to apply some of these techniques to my schedule.
I have come so far..working hard and studying and studying and studying..and I finally got my gpa.. I got a 5.0!!! I have worked so hard to get this :')
A retrospective timetable has been proved multiple times and has been 300% more effective than prospective
I don’t wanna flex but I got a 3.0 without ever studying for a test in college so far
In high school I was hovering around 2.0 😂 I wasn’t stupid I was just lazy. It carried into my adult years but I’m just glad I’m not failing
Truth 💯
My Routine as a 7th grade student
Wake up at 6:30
Go to school for 7 hours
Come and at 4:00 and relax until about 5:30 (90 mins)
5:30-6:30- work
7:00-8:00- dinner
9:00- bedtime
So I basically don’t even get that much time to be free and play without worrying because of so much going on and I still don’t get straight A’s
i’m going to be having a pre-exams (?) if you would like to call that pretty soon! this video made me want to study once again even though i just finished a session haha ✨
Definitely gonna follow these tips!!
Adding onto the breaking try use the pomodoro technique you study/work for 25mins then break for 5mins during the 5mins don’t use your phone, get some if you water, stretch, lie down, I don’t know just something to help yourself :)
Thank you so much Janice! This is so helpful😖😀❤️🥔
Most importantly, (in college/university) you have to have passion with whatever you’re studying. I like this video.
i didn’t even know it but as for my last year in junior high school i think i also started off strong without even knowing about it and doing it intentionally because at the last 2 quarters of my school year i was actually slacking off, i had a lot of works on wait, works i didn’t even bother starting cuz i know i wouldn’t want to do it nways and pass a badly done one, barely attended classes 😧 like bruh i was always missing in action and whenever we had a synchronous group work i was always sleeping (although felt bad for not having been able to help ://) i was so sure of my grades for the first and second quarter that i went chill but still alert on the last two quarters pf the school year !!! so basically goal as a start on my senior high school year is to start off strong and finish off still strong 🤟🏻
I'm here when I almost ended my degree with far from getting 3.00
While easily demotivated
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉👏
I already knew what to do but i can’t to it, i just always procrastinate 🥺 and im just sad, stressed and have the worst grades
i love your keycaps so much 😭
Must be nice to know your syllabus
To be honest, D satisfies me as long as l pass
watching a study video where video gaming and resetting is a part of It gives me hope not to die during my studys 😀
For grad school, I want to do better.
congratulations!!
Great, i think i need functional devices that doesn't lag everytime i load something 😁
Honsetly need this especially have spending my entire senior year online 😔
1.2 GPA here
i hope one day i can get my GPA that good 🙏🏽
4:24 off topic but I have that exact same artificial plant (the one to the right of the desktop)
