Hi. I owe you the biggest thank you ever because you basically saved my life ! last year when I was studying for THE exam of my life I came across this video and started studying like you do. the "do it without break" method is life changing because I used to take several breaks during my study sessions and get distracted easily but after this video I studied 12 hours a day for 6 months and got the highest score for my exam and accepted to my dream job as a teacher! and now that I'm a teacher i recommend it to my students too. So just came here to say thank you because that's all i could do. you are amazing.
@@iidentifyasaPSLGoddessyes! staying consistent is a very underrated tip for studying. Usually when you study something you have to revise it at least once a daybbecause personally i just forget everything lol. Weekly revision is also really helpful
How he stays focused: 1. Plan the study you are going to do the night before, have everything prepared 2. Try to stay seated, don't give yourself a reason to move from study space (get snacks and other essentials prepared before study time starts) 3. Get rid of your phone, it's a key distractor. 3a. keep phone out of sight 3b keep phone out of reach 4. give yourself rewards for studying 5. I've watched this video 3 years ago back to my first year in high school and it really helped me through my studies while living my life, and here i am three years after re-watching it to start my first year in medical school. Whenever somenone tell me you will not have any life because of your medical studis i remember you and i take as and exemple, so thank you.
Yesterday, I watched this video before going to sleep, and today I tried to do everything you said, and indeed, I was able to complete this challenge, with the grace of God, and then with your grace .. Thanks alot💗
@@bef3442 To be honest, I am still affected by these tips, and every time I study until now, I try to complete 4 continuous hours, but sometimes I cannot complete them continuously, but I take breaks between them because I am busy with other things
I wrote this comment during the best period of study and I was diligent, but now I do not study even for 5 minutes, even though I am now studying engineering 🥲😂
Summary in points: * If you study in long hours blocks, it would be more productive and efficient. *You need to plan before so you know exactly what you are going to study when you sit down. *You have to keep distractions away in order to not let yourself get out of the zone. *Reward yourself for successfully completing your study session. *Be consistent with the standards you set. I think these points make sense to me. After incorporating these points and trying out, one can modify according to his needs and capabilities.
I love how TH-cam knows I should be studying, that I’m struggling staying focused, and recommended this video. This is a game changer. I feel like having structure and a solid, consistent plan, makes all the difference. One of the reasons I struggle is because I procrastinate and then study for 7-8 hours straight with a break here and there, so studying has become associated with endlessly being glued to a chair in front of a computer with no end in sight. Thank you!
the rewards idea is probably the most important to sustain this kind of studying. ever since i watched this video i adapted your way of studying but completely throwing my hobbies and the things i enjoy out of my schedule, it worked yeah but after finishing the year i was completely burned out and dont want to study anymore. now i realize that me throwing away things i enjoyed for the fear of distracting me made me resent studying.
so true, im totally like you! i prefer going longer blocks of study so I minimize the chances of having more and more , longer breaks that could possibly break my focus and motivation to study again after every break! And starting very early is sooooo much better! you feel much more accomplished and the fact you can end earlier in the evening feels very rewarding and you can relax with a good feeling knowing you were productive that day !
I have a tip: When I start to study, my brain always reminds me about other thing that I have to do, like an e-mail that I have to send, a website that I have to check and things like that, but all this things aren't studies subjects, so when I remember that I note the idea in a paper and my brain stops to think about it. So when I finish my study time, I do the things that I have written. This tip helps me to deal with the distractions during the studies.
He is telling us why he does what he does, and why it works for him. He's neither recommending it to others, nor he thinks it will work for others. That is key. Do what works for you, and what works for you need not work for others. Pure quality content!
Excellent video, thanks. In addition to your points, I calendar 3 - 4 hour blocks. I treat them like meetings so the time slot isn't negotiable. Being organized is key. I do recommend a break or two.
1) Plan the night before 2:43 2) Stay Seated 3:53 3) Hide your phone 5:33 4) Give yourself rewards 6:36 5) Setting Standards 7:58 Happy Studying God bless U peeps ❤️💋
Oh my god! This is freaking revolutionary. I'm a second year med student from Finland, and I have been using the pomodoro technique all semester. I never ever thought I could study like this, four hours straight with full concentration. But today I tried it, and I was able to do it!! I only took tiny 1-2min breathers with closing my eyes and counting my breaths. These I did maybe 2 times in an hour. You are absolutely right, the most difficult part is getting started, and this style eliminates the countless extra times having to use your willpower to get back to the studying. My mind is blown. Thank you!!
Same I’ve never really been able to get into the pomodoro method because I feel like by the time I’ve sat down and got into a flow the time is up. I usually study in one hour blocks, but I’m notorious for taking one hour breaks in between 😅 so may try this four hour thing
Bro i love this video bc it doesnt waste your time by giving some useless advice like "manage your time well." And actually gives advice that is easy to do and that a lot of us dont know of.
@ agree i tried to do 50 min and then 10 min of relaxing time but it still feels too short , 2 hours is a good range because 20 minute break you can go to the bathroom and eat something and like pet your dog or answer texts
@@britneyferndx763 this makes so much more sense. I totally relate to it because when I had gotten into these habits I found my focus deviating a lot. But now when I'm working for 2-3 hrs straight with a 30 min break, it helps me balance both work and break! I guess I can get more things done by working for 2-3 hours.
him: studies 8 hours a day. "it gives you more free time!" me: not studying 8 hours a day having so much free time because I didn't study for 8 hours a day.
4 hour block: After 1st hour: get coffee and a simple snack After 2nd hour: get more snacks ( chocolate or granola bars or fruits and nuts..) After 3rd hour: get 10 min break on tablet After 4th hour: take 30 min break. Tips: Keep phone, in another room or on the stairs. Have water always with you so that you don't have to go to the kitchen. Don't give yourself any reason to get out of that study zone. Getting yourself to study is just the hardest part, everything else ( if you stay in your room or get snacks ) will be easy. Lastly, keep your workspace clean and prepared with the necessary books required for study, this creates a welcoming atmosphere and I duces a study mood. Just sit down and try to concentrate, this is the hardest part. 😊
Hiding ur phone doesn’t work guys. Here’s an alternative: film yourself (time lapse) you’ll find yourself constantly looking at how ur phone is filming ur progress and then become more motivated. I send my mum these everyday to stay constant. Good luck (edit: these are based on my personal preferences don’t compare bro)
This was super helpful! I'm just gonna add a tip that has helped my lazy ass all through the years. Normally the reason we procrastinate is because we feel like the task is just too big, too complex or too daunting to do. What I tell myself before I start is "This work is so easy, I'm gonna be done in no time." And I just repeat that 5 times and literally for some reason it just works. Brainwash yourself into believing nothing is that hard and truly nothing will be that hard. Same goes for when you stumble upon a difficult concept, just tell yourself "Wow this is so interesting and fun to read, I'm sure I'll understand in the next 5 minutes because it's just too easy for me not to get it." This keeps me motivated and even more immersed in the work. What you tell your mind is what'll determine the next few hours of your study period. It's dumb but try it!
Or you can divide each task into smaller and smaller tasks and set a specific period of time for each small task, so every time your focus is on accomplishing something small and simple, this gives a greater motivation.
Isn't staying seated for too long bad for your health? According to multiple sources, you can't just exercise more to counteract the effects of sitting too long, so it makes sense to take breaks at least a few minutes every hour to minimize the health risks. I find the pomodoro method to be beneficial in this regard as you can walk around during the short breaks, or you can choose to modify the time chunks to suit your needs. Maximizing productivity at the cost of health doesn't seem desirable, imo.
@@erixtf4413 There aren't a lot of studies, but it seems safer to treat exercise and sitting as independent things that affect your health instead of thinking that one compensates for the other. For instance, according to this study (journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0055542), exercising for an hour or more in one sitting doesn't help insulin levels and blood fats as much as moving around frequently. Of course, an issue with the study is that they didn't give participants the same amount of time for vigorous exercise as they did for the group that spent time walking and standing. If the group spent the same time vigorously exercising as the other group did walking and standing, I suspect the results would be similar in terms of insulin levels and blood fat as the exercise group sat longer than the one doing minimal physical activity. Walking in between shorter study sessions also benefits you when it comes to learning as from an evolutionary standpoint, you only move when you need to do something important, such as hunt, gather, or escape from a predator. This primes your brain for learning quickly, so you can adapt to the situation, whereas sitting or staying still means you're in a safe environment and therefore don't have be as alert. To me, it seems that while exercise at any time does provide long-term benefits that improve studying, the short-term benefits are useful as well and could be utilized to help maximize productivity. I'd like to see someone try this instead of studying for hours straight while sitting and see if there is any difference or try multiple combinations of sitting and physical activity to find out which one maximizes productivity. حبيييت الفيديو ❤ I loved it I do kinda the same when I study but this video makes it clearer, when I am in the mood i could study for hours unless I need to get up or do something. This video is very helpful I took some notes. Thank you naser 😊
So... I realised that he is capable of even making his video productive... I mean he didn't even wasted a whole minute and just explained explained and explained... And I was watching without blinking...wow... Nice work dude
Yeah..u r right.. I watch this kinda vdos a lot but i just skip after a few minutes cause it gets boring but this vdo was useful and every second was worth watching.
I swear I am becoming productive from this day onward! Solid advices. It all comes down to your mind. I am implementing this as my daily habit. I need it.
This guy: I can study 4 hour straight Indian parents: Pathetic... We used to study 24 hours straight on the top of a mountain standing on with just one 1 leg.
Why? 1. Maximise productivity 2. Minimise breaks 3. Increase free time: you can still do a lot at nights 4. Maximise efficiency How? 1. Plan the night before 2. Stay seated 3. Hide your phone 4. Give yourself rewards 5. Setting standards
I had the exact same approach to studying for years. Once I got a job in academia (before I finished my studies), I ruined it because of the XY number of emails I receive daily. I thought about going back to "my" approach to studying and upscaling and this video is just reinforcing that idea, so thank you!
Man really. I feel anxious so much. I feel restless. And the anxiety dont let me live me in peace. But then theres this study. I do a little of few minuts. And then when i understand concepts. My anxiety level is really low.
@@pranitapatar5548 that happens because not understanding is stressing. So, when you solve that problem your anxiety goes down. But i don't think that just doing what i have to do will reduce anxiety for itself, at least i don't think that could work on a person with anxiety disorder.
1. Plan night before 2. Stay seated to minimise distractions - only after 1hr 3. Remove distractions 4. 2 Blocks to remove the friction required to start 5. Give yourself rewards and standards

Very good video. I”ve used this method for working on art for years and it does get work done consistently. I think washing up (showering, brushing teeth, combing hair), setting up for the morning (clean up workspace + set up work for day), and eating SOMETHING for breakfast is the most important task before starting work to sit down for 3-4 hour periods at a time. Before I start my second 3-4 hour session I’ll asses if I want to work more on pages then or if I want to work out or run before or after my next session. I compare the 3-4 hour blocks to running. After an hour of work I feel like I’m just getting started, after a mile of running I feel like I’m just feeling my legs and analyzing my body. 2nd-3rd or 4th hour I’m really moving and seeing shapes easier, for running I feel like this at 2nd or 3rd mile feeling like I can keep running. Thanks for the video!
I tried this during the exams, but I did 7 hours (3 hours is the first block and 4 hours is the second block) on weekends and 5 hours on weekdays (1 block) due to school, some of my exam results have come out and I must say, they impressed me, thanks for the help
1. Plan the night before (get books/videos ready) 2. Stay focused (prepare everything you need) 3. No phone 4. Rewards (unlock after completed tasks) 5. Set standards (4 hour block)

A little advice, and that is, step 4 may not always work for everybody. If you set a reward for yourself while studying, it can ruin your focus, since you would be thinking more about the reward than the actual studies. At least, this is my experience with the method. Apart from this, a great video and really helpful
Our brain works that way ... there is an experiment which they did with the rats. Yes you will be thinking of reward but you will also work for it. People want to work hard to earn good money which is a reward. That's how our brains are wired. Spiritual people are different though.
I was about to comment this! Would love to find out your specific water/coffee intake if that doesn't sound too crazy. I try to stay hydrated while also drinking coffee (1 cup coffee = also 1 cup water) and that's apparently too much for my bladder... And bathroom breaks can definitely get you out of the study mode :(
The pomodoro was designed for people who have trouble focusing like adhd. We tend to be more productive in short blocks with a time crunch vs long blocks. Timer for shower, dressing, studying, cleaning. It’s so we focus in short periods like hit training and look forward to breaks. I use flora or forest on firefox and my phone to grow trees and block off websites and applications that i know are distracting. Does it work for the regular person? Sure. But not usually. But for me timers are everything. If I successfully grow the tree a real one gets planted or I lose money.
agree! and Pomodoro is great for people working on long projects with due dates that are so far away, such as PhD dissertations for literature, or for those people working on writing projects such as a novel or a very long book. Pomodoro method definitely provides a day to day structure during that long marathon where the finish line is so far into the future one might lost momentum.

I've been really struggling with studying lately, constantly feeling I'm not doing enough and having a really sloppy and unorganized schedule. Thanks to this, I have a vague idea of proper studying methods and hopefully when I begin tomorrow it will help some. Having a positive mindset while studying is really difficult to maintain, especially when you have no clue what you're doing, so I think this video gave me a solid base to stand on. Thanks for that!
me, too, i always have brain fog lately and cannot focus on something for extended period of time. and it's not helping me pass my subjects- hope you can let us know if it worked for you or if you felt improvement in your studying!
In short, what helped was pre-planning the day before of what I was going to study, how long, and specifically the topics I was going to be memorizing. Studying too long fizzed my brain out and I became stressed out, the reason being I wasn't able to properly memorize, so setting REASONABLE time limits is essential. Don't overwork yourself or it will defeat the purpose. Hope this helped!

@Marquis Dane Tagaduar One week? That's a pretty small time, I gave my phone to my mom and she had to go to shop to buy groceries and she locked my phone on a drawer and when she came back, she forgot where the key is and I wasn't able to use my phone for about 3 weeks (2-3weeks) and got it after my father broke the lock in the drawer.
Bruh my mum took my ps4 controller and hid it, after a week I asked for it but she forgot where it was. After 2 months when I was putting the folded clothes away I found it on the top of the wardrobe covered in clothes
This got recommended to me in the summer and I promised myself that I'd do this when I come back to school. I'm happy and proud to say that I'm able to study 2-4 hours continously without any breaks or distractions. I've been using this method for 6 months and my grades on my exams have been better than before, and with my external exams coming up right now, I feel like this is the best thing I ever got recommended to me on TH-cam. Summary in points:
* If you study in long hours blocks, it would be more productive and efficient.
Thank you!

I have a tip: When I start to study, my brain always reminds me about other thing that I have to do, like an e-mail that I have to send, a website that I have to check and things like that, but all this things aren't studies subjects, so when I remember that I note the idea in a paper and my brain stops to think about it. Thank you!!

After 1st hour: get coffee and a simple snack
After 2nd hour: get more snacks ( chocolate or granola bars or fruits and nuts..)
After 3rd hour: get 10 min break on tablet
After 4th hour: take 30 min break.

Its not dumb man.. it seriosly works😌✨

Or you can divide each task into smaller and smaller tasks and set a specific period of time for each small task, so every time your focus is on accomplishing something small and simple, this gives a greater motivation.
1. Plan the night before
2. Stay seated
3. Hide your phone
4. Give yourself rewards
5. Setting standards
Maximizing productivity at the cost of health doesn't seem desirable, imo.
h i depends i think, If you train regularly it’s not so bad for you.
Thnx bro

The best reward is not a cup of coffee or tea, but actually mastering a subject which makes you more competitive at whatever you're aiming at
He: Stay seated.
My bladder: no.
Claudia Tsang 😂😂😂😂
how is your bladder getting full? you're only allowed out your seat to get coffee refill after working bruh
Luis Henrique Steuer umm water???
I was about to comment this! Would love to find out your specific water/coffee intake if that doesn't sound too crazy. I try to stay hydrated while also drinking coffee (1 cup coffee = also 1 cup water) and that's apparently too much for my bladder... And bathroom breaks can definitely get you out of the study mode :(
Use a cup or go bear grill style
Pomodoro method definitely provides a day to day structure during that long marathon where the finish line is so far into the future one might lost momentum.
i have adhd and it's so hard for me to concentrate and i end up not reading.
with this much discipline, any patient he gets once he becomes a doctor will be really lucky
I can study for 4 hours straight
But I’ll have a 4 week break
Ahhh same. 🙃
ahahaha
Try 8 weeks

Let us know if you get better at studying
In short, what helped was pre-planning the day before of what I was going to study, how long, and specifically the topics I was going to be memorizing. Studying too long fizzed my brain out and I became stressed out, the reason being I wasn't able to properly memorize, so setting REASONABLE time limits is essential. Don't overwork yourself or it will defeat the purpose. Hope this helped!
@@amandine2153 thanks for the info man it really helps. I wish you luck in reaching whatever it is you're studying. I'm going into yr 11 so wish me luck as well hah
When you feel overwhelmed by the material you're dealing with, take it step by step. What's the next, small thing, that you need to know or do?
Best video I've ever seen on how to run a study session. Thanks from Brazil!
Every time I get in the zone:
bladder: "You need to pee!"
chroinc back pain: "Get up, and strech!"
dog: "Time for a walk"
cat: "Cuddles!!"
phobia of bugs: "Was that a spider on a wall?"
Deserves likes
looooooooooool that is literally me
Omg ysss😂😂😂
me : omg ants go away! “pick em out and let them live outside of my room”
If i hide my phone while studying,my phone would literally come to me saying,"hey bruh.. check this video of 'how not to touch your phone while studying'...."🥴🥴🥴
Solution:Give it to your mom
Warning:Risk of not getting it back😶😶
@Marquis Dane Tagaduar One week? That's a pretty small time, I gave my phone to my mom and she had to go to shop to buy groceries and she locked my phone on a drawer and when she came back, she forgot where the key is and I wasn't able to use my phone for about 3 weeks (2-3weeks) and got it after my father broke the lock in the drawer.
@Marquis Dane Tagaduar 🤣🤣🤣
Bruh my mum took my ps4 controller and hid it, after a week I asked for it but she forgot where it was. After 2 months when I was putting the folded clothes away I found it on the top of the wardrobe covered in clothes
L. M. A. O😂😂😂😂
Thank you so much Nasser, you're helping me survive the last 2 years of high school ❤️❤️
Yay so happy to hear it!
@@KharmaMedic you truly are a life saver, I can't thank you enough for helping me reach my goal.
can anyone say which computer kharma uses?
@@elonmusk9814 pretty sure he uses an iMac
@@KharmaMedic your advice has seriously changed my life. I used to study for only 3-4 hours a day, but now I can be productive for long hours AND still have free time.
At the beginning, I thought 4 hours method is tough. I could not believe it is doable as well. Now, I can do 90 minutes straight. It is definitely a lot better than 25 or 45 minutes straight. Your advice is gold. Thank you so much for the encouragement.
Ok to be honest i watched lots and lots of videos (aka: wasted my time) and this one is the only video that actually worthed every single second of my time...thank you sir!!!! Thanksss!!!!
Him: study straight for 4hrs
My brain: don't even think about it.
I felt that so bad lol
Feeling bad for your brain u r not a good trainer.
@@complicate_af I feel bad for you too XD
Why study 8h a day, if you can just study 5 minutes per day for 6 months? Checkmate atheists!
This is legit the first person who actually made sense to my “weird” sense of studying. I kept trying the pomodori technique all these years for self study, really hard to get by. But I can still in 3 hours class without a break. Sometimes 6-7 hours with 20 mins break. I have to try this 4 hour block technique! Thanks a mill for this video 🫶
how about now after 1 month?
Kudos to you following this routine! With consistency, it’s bound to produce outstanding results.
He studies 8 full hours in a day. His sister can juggle with three apples (they were apples, right?). I know what it is. They are a family of overachievers.
Onions
Potatoes
cucumbers
Watermelons
Tomatoes
By the way, comment-reader, you can do it.
Really??
Lol
probably not
Maybe
