I remember a Marvel Zombies related comic about the main (616) Fantastic 4 traveling into the Zombie universe. There was a skrull mother and child hiding under the bed. The bed is tossed aside and we see them crying. It was Spider-man who ate them.
It's a play in situational irony. In the marvel zombies event, we pretty much see every superhero do the opposite of what they're meant to do, thusly it sets up the main premise of the story (basically: heroes are evil), but then real shocker is that spider-man still has a faint purity deep within himself despite being a zombie. that's literally the point of the video.
I usually hate 'dark and edgy' stuff but this is one of my favorite versions of Spider-Man. Because unlike a lot of 'dark and edgy' properties in this the darkness and edge serves a point, to push Peter to his absolute limit and give him the most to rise above. This Spider-Man saved the whole effin' Marvel Multiverse and no one will ever know.
Because the Watcher put the entire event through a time loop so the infection will never spread beyond two universes.Remeber that lazy and disappointing ending?
Weirdly enough, for all the build up of that. Nothing comes of it. He arrives just as Spidey & Co are eating Galactus. So inbetween that moment and the conclusion to Marvel Zombies Vol 1. Which means Doom fails. Then again, it was Ultimate Doom...
This is why Spider-Man's my childhood hero. Taught me to always strive to help others no matter what and think about my actions. Any time I do something remotely negative I instinctively try to do damage control and show my true intentions to be of a positive note. Sure I may hate myself at times for whenever I do something I probably shouldn't have, but my friends and family always reassure me that I always try and do what is right in any situation and that kinda helps me in relating to Spider-Man. The feeling of guilt over hurting the ones close to me can be so painful that I honestly have stress and anxiety over my decision. Looking at this I can instantly understand the pain Spider-Man felt as he grieved over the mistakes he made. He's a genuine person who's honest to a fault. Can't help but call him my all time favorite childhood hero.
Pretty annoying when your trying to see people’s actual thoughts and opinions when like 90% of the comments are just people complaining about seeing the video on their recommendations
I read Marvel Zombies when I was 8. I expected to see my favorite heroes fighting zombies. Not my favorite heroes become zombies and not do anything about it. I have seen many horror movies, books, comic books in my life. None has ever even scared me. None. Marvel Zombies didn't technically scare me, not directly, but it disturbed me in a way I think only a super hero horror story could've. Because back when I was 8, super heroes were like... everything to me. My idols. And seeing my idols eating people and keep doing it disturbed me at a point it did become scared. I guess I got so salty about all the things that were just wrong with that comic it was all I would think about. To the point I would go to bed and think of those arcs and imagine a virus that even Wolverine's healing Factor could not save you from, and that would make even Spiderman a cannibal. Then I wouldn't sleep for a while. It made me terrified of zombies. But I've never been one to avoid things that scare me. I'd keep reading a comicbook I hated to find closure. Maybe a point where they would he cured and everything would go back to normal, or a moment when uninfected super heroes who hadn't appeared yet turned out to be hiding somewhere and would finally take care of them. I was never completely satisfied with how it ended. Then The Walking Dead came out and at first while watching it I felt very scared. And not because the show scared me. No not at all. But because it reminded me of Marvel Zombies. I kept watching the show and eventually grew out of the trauma. Accepted it was just a non canonical story. Now it's all like before, I can watch zombie related stuff or any horror related story and won't be scared. But when I remember Marvel Zombies, I don't feel like before, luckily, but I just feel a little disgusted by it. It left a really bad in my mouth.
I think what personally bothered me was how the hell did the damn infection start? It was between two universes/realities and due to the loop being created by the Watcher, one universe's superhero would infect the another from the second universe. Earth-2149 and Earth-91126 being the two universes. All I got from it was that Wasp of Earth-2149 was bitten somehow and infected Giant-Man of Earth-2149, who then infected Hulk of Earth-91126, who then infected Sentry of Earth-91126, who eventually ended up in Earth-2149 and shit just goes into an eternal loop of gory body horror and carnage but it doesn't explain how the cursed incident began in the first place before the zombie apocalypse repeated itself between Earth-2149 and Earth-91126. I was so confused as a middle schooler when reading the comics for the first time as I never saw how the infection truly started in the first place. The Hunger wasn't really called as such until the loop began I think. Looking back into this just today and even looking online, I never found the damn answer to my question other than now it's a fucking broken record of death, gore and despair. At least the Halloween issue made something in the dark premise semi-hopeful with the mother, son and the black kitten they found.
I love The Walking Dead series overall, read the comics and watched the show up to where Negan appears. Though I'm hesitant on continuing as I was spoiled on a certain scene that upsetted many viewers as it was given as shock value to boost ratings. Finding out Robert Kirkman was a part of Marvel Zombies was both surprising and not surprising to me, but it had made sense as to who would write the dark variation of the heroes as such.
Well, it is not surprising that show reminded you of those undead superheroes since both Marvel Zombies and The Walking Dead have the same author (Robert Kirkman).
*_Guilt is much more important than a bad guy trying to do a bad thing, and a good guy trying to stop him. You need to realize what you have done, and learn your mistakes to be better._* ~ Michael Alameda
This comic is the main reason I was desensitized to violence at an early age, and it still gives me feelings of disgust and horror even now, which is pretty big for someone who can watch American Horror Story as a comedy.

There is a single part of those comics that has been clawed into my mind forever. Zombie Spider-Man had just arrived in a new (zombie-free) universe to try his hand at being a hero once more. He was attempting to protect this new universe's version of his friends (Harry, Gwen and I believe MJ) from the Sinister Six. He ended up losing control of himself and ate the majority of the six, with the exception of Sandman, who ended up escaping. Meanwhile, this universe's (non-infected) version of Peter Parker ends up intercepting Sandman a little ways away from where the initial fight took place (he wasn't with his friends when the attack began which is why he showed up late). Immediately Sandman mistook him for the zombie Spider-Man, and comments on how "this isn't how this works!" "We break out of jail, commit some crimes, you stop us, then send us back to prison, and the cycle starts all over! But you don't eat people!" The normal Peter Parker, of course, has no idea what he's talking about. However, before he can really question Sandman, the criminal says something along the lines of, "Well if you want to eat people so much then here!!!". Sandman then proceeds to transform his arms into gigantic piles of sand, and horrifically forces them through Peter's mask and down his throat. Within the span of a few seconds, Peter: still completely oblivious as to what really happened, now has a stomach full of sand that is roughly half the size of a mini-van. I remember seeing that and being in absolute awe at how horrific that comic scene looked. It was, and still is worse than anything I've ever seen in any horror movie, not necessarily because of the gore, but because of what follows afterwards. After having easily, a literal ton of sand forced down his gullet, and all of his organ coated in sand, Peter begins to stumble away in what seems to be just plain shock. He still had no idea what the hell had happened. The last thing he can mutter other then a few simple grunts and guttural noises is "....Gwen...". His body then rejects all of the sand in his stomach, and it more or less explodes from his body, tearing his gut wide open, splitting his body all the way up to his jaw. It was that scene that is forever burned into my brain, the combination of seeing one of the worlds greatest super heroes eviscerated in such a horrific fashion, combined with the simple calling out to the person he loved the most in the world. In the end, when Peter Parker was in absolute disbelief, and had been both utterly defeated and disgraced in an instant, all without even having the slightest grasp on the situation, all he could say was, "...Gwen...". I'll be honest, it's totally possible that I got a few of those smaller details wrong, as I've only read that part of the series once. But, I firmly believe one time is all you need to have something like that cemented into your brain forever.
That's a dumb pretending of how the silver age worked. When it was never like that. Plus if that was his intention, spider sense should have gone into overload to dodge.

Yeah, zombie Spiderman fused him with Wolverine's healing factor and nanobots created by Tony Stark which destroy deceased flesh. His goal was to create a bio-weapon which could kill all of the remaining zombies in the multiverse.

Wow! This was a nice change of pace from your typical list episodes. Who wrote this? I'm a high school English teacher and if someone had turned this in as an essay it would be getting an A from me! Very good critical deconstruction of the Zombies arc and the character of Spider-Man as a whole! Entertaining to boot! Which is more than I can say for the average high school English essay ... even the ones that get A's. ❤
The original article the video is based on was written by Andrew Bridgman (and can be read here: www.dorkly.com/post/87342/spider-mans-darkest-journey-was-in-marvel-zombies), and was adapted to the TINH voice/format by Tony Wilson.
Listening to this comic sounds pretty dumb to be honest. I’m not against heroes and villains actually dying (I prefer it really), I just think this was for simple shock value.
My favorite part of that second Marvel Zombies with Spiderman comic is when Sandman sees Zombie Spiderman killing the Sinister Six. He voices what was apparently an unspoken agreement between the heros and villians; no lethal force. Sandman decides to repay Spiderman in kind, but targets the living Spiderman from that universe, forcing sand down his throat until he explodes.
I mean in every superhero fight, the villains try their hardest to kill the hero but they already know its impossible. They know that the Hero won't kill any of them due to a moral code. So in they end they all live, break out and do this fun action thing all over again. So when Zombie Spidey ate almost everyone in the Sinister 6, he broke that rule. Sandman had no choice but to kill that innocent spider-man because he thought he broke that code. It just goes to show the relationship between these characters. Bad guys break out, rob bank, fight hero, land back in jail and do it all over again. Remember in Earth 616 when The Green Goblin realizes it wasn't Otto in Peter's body but instead Peter was back when Spidey joked about him and the man purse? Green Goblin says, *"its you"* these characters know each other. And for Zombie Spiderman to just rip them to shreds, its equivalent to a divorce. The trust was broken. Also why couldn't Zombie Spiderman just wait until Earth 91126 Spidey showed up? That Spider-Man was simply changing into his costume.
@Toppu10 I was happy to answer your question when I saw the notification, but then I saw the second comment, that something inside you compelled you to try and hurt another person for no particular reason. Admittedly I was a few beers in when I paused @3:18 . I never read these zombie comics before. At first I was just teary-eyed. I didn’t know why, but my thought of Aunt May being flayed like that, at the hands of Peter Parker of all people, was haunting. Wolverine's healing factor is just for restoring and regenerating lost body parts. And also its not actually effective against other viruses. So therefore, Healing # Antidote
Simply because like majority of zombie comics and whole walking dead series is dumb, there you have dumb and forced things that do not make much sense.
The virus took over everyone almost instantly but spiderman lasted an hour or so and wolverine lasted longer. The healing factor fought the virus but it was simply more than it could handle.
Zombie spidey depressed me when I read his story until that ending. He solved the problem. He may not be a hero anymore but at least he destroyed 99% of the zombies and that earth was clean after that. Good for him. Now he's gone as he should have been. May he find the peace in true death that he lacked in his undead form.
I actually personally HATED the Marvel Zombies story so I never finished it but just this story about my favorite character out of all the Marvel Multiverse actually changed my mind a bit
I read and enjoyed it, but it has to be taken with a huge, HUGE grain of salt . My main problem with it was how inconsistent things got with characters. Sometimes “the hunger” is completely uncontrollable, to the point that humanity is wiped out almost instantly, sometimes it can be controlled, like when Hank Pym slowly feeds on Black Panther or when spider man pretty much talks wolverine out of eating people. So I didn’t hate the story, but find it hard taking the premise seriously.
I didn't like marvel zombies, I kept expecting it to get better but it didn't. Punisher vs The Marvel Universe (2012) was more my type of Zombie apocalypse.
I must say that after seeing this, Spiderman is by far probably the most purest of all marvel heroes, he was somehow able to retain his human side to still want to do good. I've read some of the chapters, but I say this recap shows that even in an undead universe, he's still the Spiderman we know well with a human ❤. Maybe that's just me, but its quite touching knowing he still tried helping humanity as a zombie. Way more respect
And unlike most of the superheroes who just embraced the Hunger without any guilt or remorse of their actions. They just worry about finding more food supplies and that's it.
@@javi5072 Well, he's called Colonel America in that universe. So maybe he isn't as morally good as his mainstream version. Or once you get infected by the Hunger, you immediately abandon all of your morals and ideals in pursuit of human flesh.
He was actually in the series. He looks the same but dirtier. However, the symbiote couldn’t survive off Brock anymore because Brock wasn’t a living being anymore
Well apart from being unable to live of Eddie since he wasn’t a living being probably the exact same. The Symbiote eats brain matter, Zombies eat people. Not much difference really. 😂
Spider-man. this just proves how loved he is... yes he turned into a zombie... killed, gave into addiction, killed again... but his will to do good is what makes him so strong! why spider-verse exist, why many good timeline stories exist, why he even rehabilitated a dying and angry doc ock into trying to do good!

I couldn't come up with an original name D: ...My point is that, by the way that Stan Lee thought of how Thor can fly. He must be worthy to lift the hammer that he holds on to while it flus. Forgot the part where a bitten Spidey fakes being a zombie to help get Ash Williams to safety -- and kinda skipped over the part that that got trapped and sent to an alternate universe with his zombie buddies and that's what triggered his hunger to come back and for him to watch MJ and everyone die again because of his hunger. Then yeah, he creates a "vaccine" (actually dead-flesh eating nanobots bonded to Sandman) to kill every zombie on the planet (including himself) save for a zombie Sentry (who gets zapped back to the original zombie universe and starts the initial zombie outbreak ad infinitum).

*"Are you sure about that?"*

I fear no man... but that thing... it scares me.
I actually forgot about the the cannibalism part of zombification and This Has Been A Reminder
Seeing that broke my heart

Underrated comment.
NOTE: He didn't know there even was a zombie spiderman and just assumed Spiderman went rogue, so he ended up killing an entirely innocent Spiderman.
And that was your favorite parte because... ?
@Toppu10 I was happy to answer your question when I saw the notification, but then I saw the second comment, that something inside you compelled you to try and hurt another person for no particular reason.
You should reflect on yourself and figure out what drives you to do that; you'll lead a happier life as will everyone around you.
So what if the villains do end up killing the hero?
Admittedly I was a few beers in when I paused @3:18 . I never read these zombie comics before.
At first I was just teary-eyed. I didn’t know why, but my thought of Aunt May being flayed like that, at the hands of Peter Parker of all people, was haunting. I still remember the kind of person she was from the old Spider-Man movies.

Spider-man. this just proves how loved he is... yes he turned into a zombie... killed, gave into addiction, killed again... but his will to do good is what makes him so strong! why spider-verse exist, why many good timeline stories exist, why he even rehabilitated a dying and angry doc ock into trying to do good!
Spider Man becoming a zombie: I... don't feel so good..
The Marvel Zombies what if- storyline is actually quite darker than Infinity War.
@@xxx_jim_the_reaper_xxx quite is an understatement lmao. Infinity war is only dark for MCU standards, while this can get really disturbing for even comic book standards.
It’s old now buddy
Mr. Stark I don't feel so go-RAAAAH
Well said man, well said.
RIPSTANLEE😔
How could Thor use his hammer?
That's the question I've had since I first read the book.
Thor actually couldn't use mjolnir after he was infected. They say at one point that he developed a 'makeshift hammer' out of some scrap metal.
Chap Mcbloke sounds like💩. Cause according to Stan the "man" Lee said that Thor spins the hammer and goes along for the ride. So it seems like a cop out
Tom Griffiths I think they actually show Zombie Thor with a brick of cement on a metal pole
I couldn't come up with an original name D: ...My point is that, by the way that Stan Lee thought of how Thor can fly. He must be worthy to lift the hammer that he holds on to while it flus. A zombie version of thor would not be so worthy. And to put a pin in it his hammer probably would be a stick or left glued to the ground where Thor was turned. Do we forget hammer falls in the old man Logan series?
WikiThis most likely
Part of me can't help but imagine him guilt-feeding and then being more guilty about guilt-feeding, in a somewhat humorous way
When I was 9, I remember renting this book. 8:12 Is a panel I instantly remembered.
Dafuq?! You were 9 when you saw this book?! What were you thinking?! I saw this when I was 11 and it scared the shit out of me.
@@DietDrBob_ Trust me, it disturbed me but it was interesting. I didn't really read the book, I just flipped through the pages and look at the panels. Looking back on it, its still disturbing in some ways.
I can’t figure it out either
@@DietDrBob_ I'm 15 right now and i'm fucking traumatized
*I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU, ZOMBIE SPIDER-MAN IS PERFECTLY WRITTEN AND I LOVE HIM*
this has only been released 2 months ago but i feel like its been recommended to me ever since. and now i love this
(on a side note, i was interested when i first saw the cover of a marvel zombies comic and the idea of a universe where the heroes are zombies)
Hopefully the MCU will NEVER adapt Superhero Zombies
God, I hope your wrong, that would be the best movie to watch!
They will. Around the 2020s from what I heard.
You're in luck cuz its Disney
867 5309 yes it does :/ it won't happen cuz it's Disney and Disney would never make a zombie movie like that that doesn't involve romance or highschool (referring to Z.O.M.B.I.E.S) and it always has a happy ending, so no. They wouldn't do it. It's too dark for Disney
I NOW DEMAND THAT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS!
And then you play Insomniac's Spider-Man and realize that was the most heroing and heartbreaking ending ever
Kazuma - kun exactly
Not really. I didn't cry till like the 3rd playthrough and it wasn't that many tears, but still good game.
Nah that was meh
Trash
@@EthanBradburyVlogs Give reasons why it's trash then. Don't just say trash.
It wasn't even Spidey who created the 'cure' that Sandman carried, it was the Tony Stark of that reality.
@@voteDC Right, right, alcoholic Tony who let himself get eaten early on.
It's been a good while since I read any of the Marvel Zombies comics outside of the first two series, Ultimate FF, Dead Days and the Army of Darkness crossover.
I read all of that too and don't remember a cure or anything beyond that it's a loop. I know they got stopped. But weren't they sent there by being tricked. That was kinda messed up. Could maybe just ask them to find an isolated universe or something
Todd Dawson-Cooper the time paradox kind of ruined the story for me. Made it obvious they were going to milk the zombies some more. They also had deadpool find a cure in merc with a mouth but I don’t think they ever followed up on it
where's the Batman who laughs when you need him
Was it ever explained how the batman who laughs became so powerful to the point of killing gods effortlessly? I read the single metal issue about his origin I havent read the whole series is it ever explained how he became so strong or was it a deadpool kills the marvel universe kind of thing where the writers have to make shit up?
@@lancemartinez1130 that batman had no powers, he just killed his enemies by making and executing plans of mad logic
xxx tunasub Oh Batman is chilling in the DC comics
@@GinHindew110 So basically the classic Bat-Plot then?
weird flex but ok
I honestly love how he describes Spider-Man for what he believes and how he believes. The kid in me wants his powers and what not. But the late teen that I am, wants to be like him in the will to do good.
How did Luke cage get infected if his skin is impenetrable
Because reasons.
I wanna read the comic now to find out, seems really good anyway
The entire comic is a series of contrivances.
they bit the inside of his mouth
A virus can be inhaled if it were airborne, but since we're talking zombies, I guess its munch munch bite bite.
Funny how Sam Raimi is indirectly responsible for another Marvel universe.
What?
spider wolf Ashley Williams from the Evil Dead series is partially responsible for the Zombie apocalypse in the first place. Sam Raimi made Evil Dead
Nope, actually Ash appears in "Marvel zombies vs Army of darkness" when the Necronomicon sends him trough various dimensions, but he isn't involved in the zombie outbreak
@@gabethebabe3337 it was revealed that ash had nothing to do with the apocalypse there, doom said the virus was alien and had no paranormal propeties , the necronomicon just wanted ash to get killed in the crossfire.
no Well that’s lame
You know to be honest, this whole story sounds to me like some kind of bad/bullshit fanfiction story, THAT is by the way coming from a guy who has read a lot of fanfiction stories.
I have read a lot fanfiction stories that were either good or bad, judged subjectively or by general criteria, but this really seems to take the cake.
Perhaps I edit this later, after I found the right words.
thats exactly what this is
It’s not though. Read it and you’ll find it pretty enjoyable if you’re not easily squeamish
It’s canon bro ultimate fantastic 4
TH-cam sure likes to show off decapitated Aunt May in the recommended, doesn't it.
What dimension does Spider-Man go to that has an MJ to get eaten? And follow up question, at what point does he escape the Zombieverse?
I think it was dimension x a parallel world to his own and after the zombie civil war at wakanda
@@akvelo9862 earth z actually is where he was taken to, found out he had vein webbing, ate the sinister six and succumbed to the hunger again. Earth X was marvel ripping off kingdom come.
Sounds like a zombie greek tragedy
And we get to see him open up about how he is and why he's the way that he is, explaining that he jokes and uses sarcasm to hide his own insecurities about not doing good enough, and whatnot.
Spidey's a pure boi.
I’ve been watching this back to back and I need more of this

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these Marvel zombie comic books written by Robert Kirkman aka the creator of The Walking Dead?
Marvel Zombies 1 & 2 (and their prequel, Dead Days) are!
Oh/Ooh? Really?
Yup
When i think about spider man i think about Stan Lee's death. Rip Stan Lee
I just realised this has been in my recommended for months
So?
