BRUTALLY HONEST | Air Canada Trans-Atlantic Economy Class on the Boeing 787-9

  • There aren't really any particularly bad things about Air Canada. Mostly, it's a reliable airline to take you from A to B. But an airline which is often called "North America's best" surely must have some particularly good things too, right?

      @@ralphyhk lol westjet is the worse airline out of Canada. Not only are the seats brutal on a flight that last more then 3 hrs, but you wont even get a hot meal. you could pay 20$ for a sandwich that was made 2 weeks prior to departure tho, then lets not forget the constent up selling they due during flights, no entertainment.... Make it worse there not even a lcc

    I think the way that Air Canada handle the mid flight snack is that they have a little snack bar at the back. At least that's what I remember on my flights on the 777 from LHR to YVR. I've done the trip with both BA and AC and I would pick AC every time

    One positive about AC, economy product is very consistent, vast majority of planes have very new cabins with the latest IFE and most are very clean, and extremely well-maintained something not true on BA, American, United or WestJet.

    • @insertnamehere5572
      @insertnamehere5572 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aaryan K yes but I feel like it depends on the situation like if one airline doesn’t let you bring to much baggage and it’s the cheapest but you are moving or you are traveling with family you would probably get a different plain ticket or if One airline didn’t have any on board entertainment system you would probab One airline didn’t have any onboard entertainment system And you have a four-year-old you would probably find a different flight

    I always fly Air Canada back to Brazil is the only Airline that has a decent time to connect Canada to Brazil. I fly on their premium economy, it is just a little bit more expensive but the extra legroom and the bigger seat make a huge difference for me.

    Air Canada front counter staff was known to be very rude for a long time. But I have noticed that this attitude has dramatically improved. I would like to add the staff friendliness from front counter and in flight staff. Taking in consideration that some passengers might have put them to the limit

    Weird that they didn’t serve another mid-flight snack or ice cream because last year I flew on a 788 from ZRH to YVR and they served a cookie and a cup of Vanilla ice cream which both were damn delicious! Another great thing on AC is their IFE which I think is the best currently out there. Especially their moving map is just great and definitely one step ahead of many other legacy carriers! P.s. I flew in Economy and one thing that came to mind which might be the reason why they served another snack on my end was because the flight time on my route was slightly longer than just to YYZ (about 9h)

    I've flown with Air Canada a number of times to Vancouver which is a 14 hour flight from Brisbane Australia. We were served a hot meal after takeoff and a really tiny half a sandwich which was super cold about an hour before landing. I always pack an extra snack as we were starving the first time this happened! I feel they are a very average airline on the Brisbane to Vancouver leg.

    Canadians like to complain about Air Canada but it's usually fine. They have a reputation for surly staff but that's often unmerited as sometimes they are quite nice. Sometimes not. Overall the Economy Class experience is usually, as you, say, decently AVERAGE. Better than American or United, but not as good as most European or Asian carriers or maybe even Delta. And yes they got rid of the pre-dinner drink service several years ago, even on the longer10 hour + flights, which is a shame as most other international carriers do it.
    Great review!

    I've had long haul flights from Australia to Vancouver on Air Canada, and the best way I can describe the service is average. Nothing outstanding... if you get an amazing deal on Air Canada, then that is OK and for the most part it is comfortable enough, but there are quite a few carriers who vastly exceed Air Canada on nearly every route that Air Canada flies.

    You said the flight was one of the shorter transatlantic flights, maybe you should try the shortest transatlantic flight which is the seasonal service from St Johns NF to Dublin Ireland operated by WestJet, the flight time if I remember correctly is somewhere between 3h 40m and 4h 20m (depending on weather and wind ) they normally operate the flight between May and October.

    The best airline I ever flew on, unfortunately now long gone, was Wardair Canada. Their attention to detail was so keen that the meal service came in 3 parts. First was the cold stuff like salads, then the hot main course, then the dessert. That way cold stuff was cold, main course was hot and didn't cool as you tried to eat everything, and the dessert to finish a great meal off. Even domestically, it was this way. Real china dishes, metal utensils and porcelain salt and pepper shakers. Real glassware, very great airline.

      RCR- You re 100% right but remember Wardair flew approximately 30 years ago. Unfortunately the airline business- especially in Canada- has regressed since that time.

    • @realcanadianrailfan110
      @realcanadianrailfan110 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LMFNinja I know. Unfortunately. Out of all of the airlines in Canada at the time, Wardair knew how to treat every passenger. Max Ward didn't care if you were a movie star or a factory worker, all he cared about was that you were treated equally and spoiled on his planes.

    David - can you please talk about seat width ?
    If you are under 1.85m tall, seat width is more important than legroom. That seat has 17” width which is not good, but becoming standard for Dreamliner economy. The best economy seats are 19”. This makes a massive difference to comfort, but it is never talked about. PLEASE make at least one episode on this issue?

    The quality of Air Canada flights depends on the aircraft. Economy on a 767 is horrendous, but premium economy on every flight is pretty awesome. As airlines go they're not bad especially compared to United in the US or Air Italia. But Canadians hate them cause they disappoint us so often with cancelled flights and cramped seats.

    Thanks! Living in Canada-we don’t have a huge choice in airlines, so I usually fly to Europe AC. However, I’ll pick Lufthansa or KLM if I can. AC is unremarkable, but not so bad I think. A to B is good these days!

    I just got off an Air Canada flight from Sydney Australia to Toronto. This flight stops in Vancouver and then continues on to Toronto. Drinks on board are no charge until you stop in Vancouver. After the stop passengers from Sydney have to pay for drinks. Pretty cheap if you ask me!!!
