This week we are visiting the design district in NYC and I’m giving you somd home updates.
I’m so ready for the colder months and entertaining at home ❤️ I hope you enjoy the video and don’t forget, when you nurture our home, your home nurtures you back.

I missed you last week too, but don’t underestimate the joy of patient anticipation. I sense your move to the country was a carefully crafted decision to slow your life down, and it seems fitting to design your channel to coexist with your natural, internal rhythm. I do love design and I do watch other designers but they all seem to be on steroids, it’s a pleasure to watch you slowly unfold.
I am so glad you picked up on that, it really is a carefully crafted decision to slow my life down-but it’s going to take some getting used too! I’ve been busy since 2007 😂
Love the home vibe you’re creating. Also the Teddy Blake handbag is beautiful ❤
Thanks, it's fun to see it come together 😉 and happy to share it with hot!
@ I received your note today…thank you for being so kind ❤️
@@nala_bOh good!!!! I wanted to make up for the fact that I couldn’t sign the tote because they’re shipped from the printing company 😘
Ooh! Love the cozy vibe here. Yes, I missed you too, but it was worth the wait. So much fun to see the process of selecting fabric samples and paint swatches. I love all three paint colors, and it’s hard to choose. The bedroom will be so warm and cozy. Your living room is looking beautiful with the mix of rustic and contemporary pieces. Love the leather bench. Btw, the drive down the lane in Pound Ridge was stunning with autumnal colors! 🧡🍂
Awwwww. Thank you for the kind words, darling. I want to incorporate the Fix My Home lives on the alternating Sundays. Wouldn't that be fun???
I'm excited about all the different elements coming together in the living room, it's starting to feel like our (full-time) home finally! Pound Ridge is such a lovely little woodsy place. I kind of have shock when I'm back in NYC on Mondays lol. It's such a big contrast!
Love all your ideas❤
Black shades on lamps would be nice❤
Brown velvet curtains too
❤
Oooh brown velvet curtains 🤎 sooo nice! I do want to change out those shades too!
Your artwork looks fabulous in your lounge room. A very modern touch to the more traditional, rustic elements - a very Pintrest-y mix. Thanks for taking us through your process, Christina. Also, Miles Davis's 'Kind of Blue' was the first jazz CD I ever bought myself to mark turning 30 and 'being an adult now... with, you know, adult tastes' ;-) xx
Thank you Joanne! I appreciate your feedback babe 😘 PS I have that on vinyl and it’s amazing! Very adult for a 30-year old-I love it!!
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio oh, I love that crackly/croonery sound of vinyl... it is like music in itself! Auditory beauty xx
I adore the deep plum brown Caponata color but not on the ceiling. Also love the brown bedding. Would love to see a plum pillow on the bed or plum color somewhere else in the bedroom? Looking forward to seeing how you pull it all together over time. Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
You’re right, that’s a great idea. Plum would be so nice in here 😍
I would choose sample one! It’s cozy and warm
Hi Maria! Thank you-it’s a tough decision!
I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we missed you last week too. That bed is going to be amazing and I can just picture you hosting guests from the city in your gorgeous living room with your incredible art! I love that bench and I instantly thought of an art gallery when I saw it. You are going to have a very popular getaway. You might need more martini glasses.
Oh my gosh! You’re seriously so kind and your vision is amazing--I can't wait to make that all come true! I’m so excited to share this transformation as it unfolds! Hahaha on the extra martini glasses---good point!!!
Those plums will make a stunning powder room! I'd choose number 2 for the ceiling🙂. Could you do plum curtains in the bedroom? It's really a beautiful color.
It really is. My all time favorite. So deep, rich and luxurious 🤍
Great video! Love you skipping around haha! Fun to watch. Enjoyed hearing some of your background. Looking forward to seeing your design choices. Your artwork in the living room looks fantastic. And I’ve always wanted to see inside D&D
Oh my gosh-I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! I had way too much fun! Hopefully the design decisions are as fun to watch as they are to think about. We will have more videos from D & D coming soon. SO much to see there. PS Thank you for your kind words about my art xoxoxoxo
Great c u next week then😉 looking forward to seeing the bar cabinet and pulling through more modern elements. This last stage of balancing the room is always challenging for me!!! 😊
It’s going to be fun!!! I look forward to sharing it with you 😘
Your drive was amazing !
Thanks for watching! It is so pretty up here right now--what am I saying??? It's gorgeous all the time. The trees are so lovely!
Christina I’m loving the vlogs, seeing your design thought process in real time. Your mood board is sooo good. Moody and cozy😍
The first swatch is my fave since it brings in the color from the fabric swatch but that plum color is beautiful too. I miss NY so much(moved away a few years ago so your content is so nice to watch )Sending you love cuz🥰😘
I’m sending you love and fall vibes back, cuz! 🤗 PS Thank you for the input in the swatch. A tough decision-going to have to get samples of the paint to test them to make a final decision. It’s a tough one!
That bench 😍! I love how you are blending those styles in your living room. I have similar taste and struggle with knowing how to execute it as beautifully.
I know! It's the perfect piece to tie together the rustic and contemporary.
It's going to be so cozy and warm.
Thank you so much 🤗 I won’t give up until it’s just right ❤️
Great content! As far as the paint swatches for the bedroom ceiling, I'd typically play it safe and go with #1, but I'm really leaning towards #2! (I'd paint a big swatch of each on the ceiling and see how it changes with the time of day) It's still very neutral but not too dark. I'm not "afraid" of dark or of color but the whole ceiling is a big commitment for me. lol.... having said that, I painted our dining room a pretty, muted, mid tone, sage-y green. The rest of the house is all done in one color, bone, as I am a neutral gal.
You’re so right! The bedroom is much darker and so I need to rest each one back there. A dark color back there will likely just look black even if it isn’t.
PS I love a white wall-it showcases your things. I love color too but it takes me time to commit!
Love number 1!
Thank you for letting me know. Seems like 1 and 2 are really close to being tied!
You are most welcome!
I love seeing the house evolve! The plum swatch was moody!
Sooooo good! I'm excited to receive it!
Hey Babe! I truly enjoyed this week's video (and miss the weeklys as well). I don't get to go out as much anymore and really miss living in New York (born and raised). Also, I really love the fabric choice (it's so you) which would go lovely with color card 1 - this color will transition well with the Puddy color of the walls and also highlights the color texture in the fabric as well as the bed coverings (I really love the textures you are putting together). This, I feel, will also give the candles and lighting (natural and artificial) the softer cozier glowy feeling that you are seeking. You already have the darker tones in the bed linens and paintings. However, if you want to go darker you can always add in books with covers in deep reds and browns to give it that contrast. Even wood tone furnishings would be nice or a marble top side table with veining like your fabric and paintings. By the way, would you consider designing wall paper or fabric because I think it would be really great to see some of your work especially on a rug. Additionally, I would love to see a journal with your designs on the cover and sheets as well. Just wishful thinking 😉I'm an Interior Designer and artist myself (just finished my BFA in April) and it's been hard to find work without field experience ( I am limited to academic training only) and it's a shame that no one wants to mentor anymore which I get "time is money." But I did manage to open a Traveling Tea Shoppe in my hayday and created a brand for that venture as well as for other small business associates. I feel that you and I have the same mindset and creative spirit (like a soul sister💞). Stay blessed 🙏
I totally hear you about wanting to design wallpaper and fabric. I have thought about it as well as rugs. Right now it’s too much to take on but I will get there.
It’s been hard for me to find the time to do everything but I’m always working towards it. We definitely share in the same mindset and creative spirit.
Yeah mentorships are hard to come by, it’s true, but maybe there’s another option for you? Could you start your own business while you teach? Maybe start small by doing eDesign and perhaps helping your friends, then photographing your work for social media? Focus on building your account to get attention/leads.
The holidays are a good time to offer holiday decorating services-anything to meet people who pay for these services. Then they’re on your mailing list, so you can introduce them to your other services.
Build your client list and always introduce more services. Eventually they’ll want to do an add on or renovate and they’ll think of you.
You can do this-tap into your creativity. You can forge your own way 😘
Love seeing how you are creating a cozy curated home. I really enjoyed your sharing the Home Goods purchases. Very relatable! I am looking forward to seeing the ways your home evolves. Thank you! ❤
Thank you for watching! It's a journey, thank you for being here and coming along for the ride! 🤗
Hi
I love your Channel your Vibe is so inviting…
I’ve learned a lot from your Channel
I moved from a larger City to a smaller Town about 5 years ago
I have a beautiful house and have totally embraced the process of making it a home.
I’m not a social media person so I only enjoy you on TH-cam ❤️
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the channel! Thank you for watching-it means a lot to me that you choose to spend your time here 🤗
I really like that bed swatch (It looks dark plum on my computer screen). I can't wait to see the bed upholstered. Also loving that black bench in the living room. I am enjoying seeing you add and take away as time passes (that is me, all day every day).❤
It’s always a process-coming and going. Just when I love it, I change and have to move things around 😂 I’m glad you can relate.
having legit experience in the restaurant industry I felt gave me the experience to be a better host to people and not stress the little things. Love your color palette so much! very earthyyy
You are so right-I think people that work in this industry work and think fast. You learn how to step up and get things done even if you don’t feel like it. It takes strength to work in the restaurant industry and it definitely builds character. PS Thank you for the compliment on my color palette!
I think I would choose the colour sample number 2. I love all the colours, though. Also, the powder room would be great in the deep plum colours 😍
I totally agree!
Christina aside from loving you, your ideas, the music is amazing too ❤😂
I love finding good music that matches the mood! 🤗
Looks fabulous. I think the throw pillow looks like the color mink.
CD yes you’re right!!! So soft too!!
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudioI finished your video. I am super excited to see what paint you put on the ceiling in your bedroom. Also cannot wait to see it come together in the livingroom. It's going to be super cozy and yet sexy. I love it.
I love color #3 😍😍👌
Me too!!!!!!
Hi 👋! As usual a great video. I love the colors you are using for your bedroom. I like the lighter neutral color for the ceiling. Stay beautiful.
I'm thinking the lighter color for the ceiling too, but I’d love to do the darker. It’s much easier making decisions for someone else than it is for myself! My brain 😵💫 lol
I like #2!
I know! I like that one too. I’m going to get everything in the room and then decide. This is a tough one!
Beautiful warm colors for your bedroom! I love to see how it evolves. Also love the modern combo with the rustic in your livingroom, great bench! The Eames chair is a dream. I will not ever have one, because of space and money, but that is perfectly alright. I just love great design and I actually managed to purchase some that fits my space and budget. Great bag also. But it would be too fancy for my routines. I always carry quite a large bag, so it also can be my bag for groceries. Still actually a tiny bit fancy bag lol.
The dreams for your home are so relatable. Although I have my own dreams of course, but I can feel the cozyness and friendship. I always admire people who know their way in making a drink. Last summer I discovered the Aperol Spritz, but I wouldn't know how to make it. I do have some great whisky though.
Take care, be loved and be blessed.
Grady I love an Aperol Spritz and they’re super easy to make. Equal parts Prosecco and seltzer, a couple splashes of Aperol and garnish with an orange slice. I’ll make some this summer on a video 🧡
I’m making whisky cider tonight to sip by the fire. Jerry and I are a little sick today so this should feel nice on the throat.
I love your video Have you thought about color trenching in your bedroom? Painting the ceiling the same as walls and bathroom in that beautiful plum. I do love the cozy moody vibes in a bedroom
I have thought of that-it would look lovely but last week I decided I don’t want to paint the walls too-so I’m going for the 5th wall look-painting just the ceiling!!
1 and 2 are my picks. Love the curtain fabric. I know the rooms will turn out great no matter which colors you choose . Im remodeling a bathroom and you're upstairs will be a challenge but most people handle dust wsy better than I do 😂
Thank you for the kind words! I am totally with you on the dust-it’s going to be a mess! We’re going to build a detached garage in advance with a small guest room and bathroom, so we’ll be living there for several months while the renovation take places. Like camping…but for 6-12 months 😂
niiice. it's funny because all my family is back east in Harlem and my favorite cousin bought a property in Massachusetts and she loves being in the country and I tell her I love I miss Manhattan. She goes ,"you do ?... well you can have it ." i enjoyed this design process Christina.
Hahaha I love it!!! 😂 I suppose I still love it in many ways and I think coming in for work is enough-while enjoying my peaceful life hiding in the country 🤍 A good balance 🥰
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio yes that's how I feel about my hometown in San Francisco while my family business is still in San Francisco and my children and parents still live there. I live three hours away in the country and it's nice to go back-and-forth now that I'm in my late 40s I don't have as much need for nightlife so it kind of makes sense.
@@LenaMMcKee yes exactly. It starts to loose its shine in a way as we get older and our values change. I mean these cities will always be there for us to visit and enjoy them, but no need to live and work there 24/7.
I am originally from New Haven, Ct., and now live in the miuntains of New Hampshire. I would never go back although it is fun to visit for the culture.
@ Exactly!!!!
I would choose color #2. #1 seems to have pink undertones
Thanks Wendy! 🤗 It’s a tough decision but I’ll need samples to paint in the room. It’s much darker than the living room, so they’ll look so different in there.
Bedroom ceiling - the darker. closer to a night sky, and I prefer dark cozy in bedroom...
I know I love the dark color. It’s a very rich tone. If I go that route, then I’d love to pick up some darker drapes in a similar shade.
I’d choose the first or second shade. Still neutral in case you want to switch things up later there’d be no conflict with a new design scheme. Just my two cents. 😊(I’m sure whatever you choose will turn out nicely)
I’m glad you’re liking the choices so far! 🤗 Seems like it's a tie for 1 and 2. I love 3 but it's very bold and because the room doesn't get a lot of natural light, it will read as black and not that beautiful plum color.
Everything is looking so beautiful Christina! For the paint colors, I love the first choice, is it "af 135"? I love that it is a little warmer than the other taupe choice. It looks so pretty with the fabric swatch! Can't wait to see what you do next! Have a great week! xoxo
Yes it is! I also realized we have a really pretty taupe here in our city home-so that’s an option too! Going to have to pick up some samples and test them all. Decisions!
So much fun! Soaked it all in and enjoyed every minute. Love all the changes, the artwork...oooooh la la, so good. You look adorable as always, thanks for sharing your journey.❤
I am so happy you’re enjoying the process! 💕 Thank you for being here with me! 🤗
Girlfriend, so wonderful to see ya… U look beautiful 🔥My choice is 1. However, ❤ #3. Gorge TB tote, the black/red is sooo chick. 👍
We are having tons of sunshine🌞here in LA…sending you lots of it! 🧡🍂🍁Mimi
Oh Mimi, I love your energy! That TB tote is a statement piece! 🤩 PS sending you fall vibes from NY 🍁🍂✨
The lighter paint color as in different shadows it will look a lot darker. I’ve been going through the same thing and some colors look lighter but when in the shade they look a lot darker. I’ve had to go 2 shades light as my bedroom is in a shady area of my house. I live in a hot climate so I need to keep it light but want color 😃
That’s a really good point. This room isn’t super bright. I’m going to get some paint samples to test them but the dark color will look even darker in that room. Will likely not be able too that it’s a plumb color at all!
💙💙💙
😘😘😘
Christina I love watching your videos and I never commented before. I would choose #2 for the ceiling color. #1 looks a tad pink to me. I think from listening to you that you really are leaning toward #3. Personally, I think #3 will be too dark. How will you feel with this ceiling being really dark in the spring and summer?
Thanks for watching Monica 🤗 Also I appreciate your feedback here in the comments. I am leaning towards #3 for fun-honestly it would be a big commitment-and I know you can see that.
I will definitely get some paint samples and play with it all in the room. I want to see how it feels before I commit to anything.
Christina I have watched your video on mixing wood tones. Is painted black furniture considered a neutral? Using the black painted furniture I have, do I add warm or cool tone wood furniture with it?
Hi Monica-good question. Painted furniture is not a wood tone but you can still determine if the paint is cool or warm. So if you have a black color look to see if it has hints of blue (cool) or red (warm), then apply the same rules. Essentially this matching your color palette to the wood tone.
If you have warm woods, then warm colors will complement those tones best. The same applies to the cool colors and cool tone woods. Like mixing cool wood tones with cool jewel tones for example. I hope that makes sense 😉
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio Thank you. Thank you!
Paint color #2.
Okay getting a lot of votes for that one!
Amazing!!! Where is that big art from?
She painted it! She is an amazing artist.
Awww thank you darling 😘
Thanks Olga! 🤗
