You’ve got to be kidding. Generations ranking higher than Undiscovered Country? 2, 4, and 6 are easily the top 3 and it’s no coincidence that Nick Meyer was involved in all three. First Contact ranks 4th.

It's a solid, fun, well-directed caper film. If Edward James Olmos had been cast as Kruge instead of Christopher Lloyd - as Nimoy wanted - it would be a classic.

For me, Star Trek Generations is higher on the list. I think they really dropped the ball and could have done a lot more. The battle between the Enterprise and the old Bird of Prey was a joke as well. Leonard Nimoy was supposed to be in it, but he declined because he had very few lines. Other members of the TOS cast were not even asked to make an appearance.
I have to agree with the last statement regarding that there's no wrong order for the worst to best Star Trek movie but that Wrath of Khan must be number one in any list. Anything less than number one for the Wrath of Khan and one couldn't take such a list seriously at all.
I'd move Generations down, but seriously that's my only distinct disagreement with your list -- On that note, wasn't Star Trek: The Motion Picture one of the highest-budgeted movies in history at the time of its release? The final frontier had some of the best moments in all of Trek. Seeing Spock and McCoy face their pain and then having kirk straight up say that he needed his pain was fucking fantastic. The movie gets way more shit than it deserves to. Is it the wrath of Khan? No. But it's still a great Trek film. Also, bonus points for McCoy being the one to tell Kirk to cool it with Spock since no man should have to kill his own brother. Even with all their arguing, it makes sense that he would defend Spock there, it was a cool scene.
Star Trek V IMO only had one good part, that when Kirk is climbing El Capitan in Yosemite during the opening credits. The campfire scene was good in that it reinforced the relationship between Kirk, Spock and McCoy. After that it was a dumpster fire.

Has anyone noticed how the footage of the runabout crashing in the DS9 episode Hippocratic Oath is reused from Generations (or vise versa). The viewscreens on the enterprise d and the runabout show the same footage.
you have to remember these are an alternate universe, they are NOT real trek, remembering that 2009 as an alternate origin story isnt too bad (not great but not terrible!!)
Yeah they don't feel anything like Star Trek. They are dead last for me and I am glad they over. I hope Star Trek can be good again cause whatever they are doing now with the shows and movies are just not that good and it makes it worse that they don't feel like Star Trek.
I know the hot take we are discussing is Undiscovered Country being under Generations. But I do really wanna see anyone dare to say the truth, which is that Into Darkness is actually a great Star Trek movie and the only actual bad bit of it is the final 15 minutes. Those 15 minutes are bad. Yes. But it is a lot better Star Trek movie than 09, Search for Spock and Generations. The conflict is stronger, the morality is more interesting, and the use of the No Win Scenario story is stronger than every other film in the franchise, including Wrath of Khan. Like they literally can't win their predicament, so they have to try to cheat their way to a victory and they still fail. The final 15 minutes hurts the film a lot but it is still really really great before that. Even Kirk's death is super well done and emotional. It's just them doing the "Khan!" meme and onwards where the film falls apart.
Bro, Insurrection is my favorite. How is Nemesis higher on the list among others! Insurrection has good battles, romance, good scripting for the characters and incredible script writing for the interaction with the baku. It gives so much where other movies lack.
Wrath of Khan always deserves the top spot on any Star Trek list. Getting Montalban to reprise his iconic character was key, as recasting Khan would not have worked at all.
my best to worst : Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Star Trek: First Contact Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home Star Trek: The Motion Picture Star Trek III: The Search for Spock ---- a jump of 70,000 light-years ---- Star Trek: Generations Star Trek V: The Final Frontier Star Trek: Insurrection Star Trek: Nemesis Star Trek (2009) Star Trek Into Darkness Star Trek Beyond
I'll do this ranking before watching, so i can compare the 2. 13 Insurrection 12 The Motion Picture 11 Beyond 10 Nemesis 9 First Contact 8 Into Darkness 7 The Final Frontier 6 The Voyage Home 5 Star Trek (2009) 4 The Wrath Of Khan 3 The Search For Spock 2 Generations 1 The Undiscovered Country
Definitely an interesting list. Quite frankly, Star Trek the Motion Picture was somewhat great when it first came out. But, it didn't really last as being a very good Star Trek movie after the other Star Trek movies that had came out after the Motion Picture
My 2¢… I’d bump The Voyage Home up to #2…… I also agree with Chris Pine not quite “fitting in” but neither did Shatner, albeit for different reasons. Love the video.
Well, being a fan I disagree a lot with this ranking, haha. Mine is: 13) Nemesis. 12) Star Trek V. 11) Insurrection. 10) Generations. 9) Star Trek TMP. 8) Into Darkness. 7) Star Trek III. 6) Star Trek IV. 5) Beyond. 4) ST 2009. 3) Star Trek VI. 2) First Contact. 1) Star Trek II.
I’d probably have VI ranked better. Every time I watch the movies through I find VI to be pleasantly spectacular. And while I enjoy IX, it’s more like a 2 part TNG episode, not a movie. Same for X.
I change my mind on multiple occasions so this might not be 100% accurate. 13) Insurrection 12) The Final Frontier 11) The Motion Picture 10) Nemesis 9) Generations 8) Into Darkness 7) The Search for Spock 6) The Voyage Home 5) Beyond 4) Star Trek 3) The Undiscovered Country 2) First Contact 1) The Wrath of Khan
With "Insurrection" I remember the rumors during its production: Data was gonna die (he didn't until Nemesis)...Ashley Judd would make a cameo with Wil Wheaton, having their characters (Robin Leffler and Wesley Crusher) been recently married or in a serious relationship or something (turns out there was a deleted scene)...that Riker and Troi were gonna get married and in a traditional Betazoid ceremony where the whole wedding party would be nude, and that the movie would end with a scene at the altar with all the cast's naked butts.
It is known that there are things in V that were declared non-canonical. It is also the case that creating the separate Kelvin Timeline raises issues with canonicity. It is not a stretch, in fact, as one of our own future ancestors, would say, it is only "logical" to conclude, as you conclude you must, that all of the films are in fact non-canonical. YES EVEN KHAN.
how is "Undiscovered Country" ranked worse than "Beyond" and "Generations" !? The movie has a great story, it's filled with tense moments, and it flows very well. I can always watch the final battle scene over and over again.

Yea I 3rd this too!
I will fourth this comment as well.
My number 2. Behind Generations. I'm the guy that hates Kahn, not Final Frontier but bad!
To increase audience engagement.
Decent vid but cannot agree with generations being above undiscovered country. It was a classic Cold War thriller. It was epic!

Fun and related fact about The Voyage Home:- The animatronic humpback whales win the film a Oscar.
First contact is the best closely followed by undiscovered country
Every time something crummy happens I say "this is why the aliens only wanted to talk to the whales."
Woah woah woah…. Undiscovered country at #6?! No way bro. Needs to be waaaaaay higher. Can’t believe you put Beyond higher. That is insane!
Having Beyond in your top 5 puts you in my good book
Love this channel
Am I the only that thinks its robbery that the Undiscovered Country is so down the list?
my best to worst :
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
---- a jump of 70,000 light-years ----
Star Trek: Generations
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Star Trek: Insurrection
Star Trek: Nemesis
Star Trek (2009)
Star Trek Into Darkness
Star Trek Beyond
I'll do this ranking before watching, so i can compare the 2.
13 Insurrection
12 The Motion Picture
11 Beyond
10 Nemesis
9 First Contact
8 Into Darkness
7 The Final Frontier
6 The Voyage Home
5 Star Trek (2009)
4 The Wrath Of Khan
3 The Search For Spock
2 Generations
1 The Undiscovered Country
How is Nicholas Meyer not getting the credit for STII?
1. Wrath 2. First Contact 3. Undiscovered Country
My favorite will probably always be Voyage Home.
Definitely an interesting list. Quite frankly, Star Trek the Motion Picture was somewhat great when it first came out. But, it didn't really last as being a very good Star Trek movie after the other Star Trek movies that had came out after the Motion Picture
Undiscovered Country is the 3rd best movie, there is NO QUESTION. It's Kahn, First Contact, Undiscovered Country
Joining the chorus: Why is Undiscovered Country on near the top and Generations not languishing in the middle?
My 2¢… I’d bump The Voyage Home up to #2…… I also agree with Chris Pine not quite “fitting in” but neither did Shatner, albeit for different reasons. Love the video.
Absolutely agree, the Wrath of Kahn has to be number one, anything else would be illogical.
Malevolence. Manevolence... That's not a thing. (good list, though, couldn't agree more)
Well, being a fan I disagree a lot with this ranking, haha. Mine is:
13) Nemesis.
12) Star Trek V.
11) Insurrection.
10) Generations.
9) Star Trek TMP.
8) Into Darkness.
7) Star Trek III.
6) Star Trek IV.
5) Beyond.
4) ST 2009.
3) Star Trek VI.
2) First Contact.
1) Star Trek II.
Sorry, but "Galaxy Quest" is easily the best Trek movie. After that one was made in 1999 it was time to retire the franchise.
13) Insurrection
12) The Final Frontier
11) The Motion Picture
10) Nemesis
9) Generations
8) Into Darkness
7) The Search for Spock
6) The Voyage Home
5) Beyond
4) Star Trek
3) The Undiscovered Country
2) First Contact
1) The Wrath of Khan
Dude, you have no clue. You're that guy at parties who picks at every single choice in music, aren't you? I couldn't finish this.
The Motion Picture should be in Top 5 at least.
Putting Generations that high up is... Bold
The Motion Picture, The Final Frontier, and Nemesis are the very three Star Trek movies that I don’t count as Star Trek continuity.
Good list, good list - no whining here about Generations or Undiscovered Country.
Star Trek Generations: Bridge on the Captain
First contact gave me so many emotions it is so good :)
Undiscovered Country should be top 3. It's my personal favorite
Your preference to TOS or TNG is what defines your number 1
