Mary, I lost my sense of smell and taste when I got Lyme disease. No one knew if these senses would come back, so texture became a major deal for me in the food department. Cosori has come out with a dual zone air fryer to compete with the Ninja and one of the differences they included is a glass window in both basket fronts to help you see inside. It has a light you can turn on for that, so it's basically like looking into a normal oven. If you're not worried about the non-stick this might be a more accessible one depending on where you live.
@@CarinaCoffee maybe ill have to look into it, however my kitchen is quite cramped I've seen a ninja air fryer with a window in a local store & it was too big for my counter lol
This was really helpful. Thank you so much for all the different types of tests you did. I'm also really glad that you kept the one with the chip in it to see how it would hold up for a year. That was actually very helpful and interesting...
I think it's really aesthetically pleasing to see the food being cooked and I'm a big fan of borosilicate glass, all my "tupperware" is that type these days and even though it is heavier, it just gives me a better feeling knowing I'm using something durable and in worst case recyclable. I never thought about the non-stick part, as I always use baking paper, but if you want to produce less waste it's definitely something to look into. I don't buy non-stick pans anymore either. I prefer ceramic. Btw, when I was looking into rice cookers I've found that a Chinese seller that is big here in Europe has made an induction rice cooker with a ceramic bowl specifically for the European market instead of a non-stick one because of concerns of customers. I honestly would have bought it, but ended up with a Korean one because my Korean induction rice cooker also has a pressure cook function. I wish I could have the best of both worlds though.
This air fryer also works fantastically with reheating things like order chicken or homemade chicken and pizza, etc. etc.! Does such an excellent job it taste like you just ordered it again! One more suggestion, is for when you’re going to go and wash it by yourself a silicone mat to put in your sink so that you don’t chip it or break it on the bottom of the stainless steel sink! I do this every time I wash it and I never have a problem! Like you, I empty everything out of the sink I put the rubber silicone mat in there, and then I fill the sink up with hot water, putting the air fryer in it while I take nylon scrubby pad and scrub the air fryer and then dry it off thoroughly ! Definitely want silicone mat for your sink when washing heavy glass objects! Have a nice day!
Thank you for this! I don’t have an air fryer. I’ve been using my old giant stove and oven and wasting the massive amounts of electricity that it requires lol. But I’d like to have something versatile like this to completely replace my stove. The grill doesn’t seem to have many controls though? That’s strange. Maybe if I could put an induction burner on top or something idk. I just live the idea of having a teeny tiny efficient space.
thanks for testing that glass air fryer out. A friend got a "T-Fal" one (long story, but it wouldn't work at their off-grid house) and asked it I was interested in having it. I washed and dried it and as with any new heating type kitchen appliance I set it up outside to heat and burn off the factory smell. There wasn't any of that, but there was a smell of hot plastic - not burning, or melting, but HOT plastic that never went away. I must have heated and run it empty for over an hour at least twice and the smell was the same. I don't want that smell in my living space or run the risk of it transferring to food. So Mary, which air fryer do you prefer (as it appears that you have 2 now) and is there any smell that comes off the housing of the units. I seem to be developing more of a scent sensitivity lately.
Nothing coming off the housing of either one. Both work great BUT I slightly lean on preferring the glass air fryer. That's because the basket doesn't have any non-stick coating. Non-stick coatings always degrade eventually. Usually within a year or two.
Also, this air fryer does french fries onion rings, chicken fingers, chicken, wings, and egg rolls and spring rolls to perfection! Also cook chicken breasts in here with shake and bake on them and other solid pieces of chicken with bone in and the air fryer. Does a fantastic job of both! I’ve also cooked steaks on the griddle and burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches and the griddle has worked perfectly for these things as well Takes a little longer cause the heat is a little bit lower than a direct element and frying pan but it does a fantastic job of this and I also make fried onions on it for my burgers! Also, I do fried smoked wieners for hotdogs in here and the last minute to warm them up on top of the wieners and then I make hotdogs which only take four or five minutes! This air fryer is fantastic ! I bought it at Costco online, on sale for $150! I liked it so much that when it went off sale I paid $200 and bought one for my friend as a gift and she loves it as well! Totally worth the money , and there is no chemical smell whatsoever like so many people are getting their metal air fryers! The manufacturer knows about the glass defect. They shouldn’t be charging you $40 for a new bowl. It should fall on them for good customer relations I think.👍🏽
You mean the chip? Yes, I believe they would've given me a new one for free if I had reported it right away. As I mentioned in the video, other reviews have said as much. I just wanted to keep the chipped one to see if it would hold up or get worse over time.
@ Yes it a well known issue that should be addressed. If you’re selling a defective product, it is up to the manufacturer to look after that problem.
❤❤❤
thanks for watching!
Are there any recipes that are your basic or go to recipes? Something that you know so well that you can show us how to make it without needing to taste it to know it’s good? I’d love a video like that! Hope you get better soon
haha I do have lots of recipes like that...but I am always so paranoid that I will put out something not good enough so I always test them specially if I'm going to publish them.
Next time just record the return process and make us wait... You can do what you do best. Describe it to us! That's not fair, that you loose the original guarantee for our pleasure 🤷🏾♀️ We will still be here waiting for you 😂‼️
aw you are sweeet! I actually wanted to know how it would turn out for myself as well :-) all is good!
Looks decent but the $199 price point isn’t
Better than the $250 I paid when it first came out
@@marystestkitchen 😳
Bruh they made it glass so its safe then they made the body that sits right over the glass that heats up too all plastic
At $187 that a big no for me, no matter what it does, or doesn't do.
it IS quite expensive compared to regular non-stick air fryers to be sure
Price-wise that's how much you'd spend for one of the dual zone ones, e.g. from Ninja or Cosori.
That is BS that the frickin glass isn’t covered. You think it’s not bad but that is b.s. when it arrived chipped
As it was chipped on arrival, I could've sent it back immediately and gotten a replacement at no cost (as someone else shared in the amazon review that I posted). But a $40 replacement if I break it myself? I think that's pretty good.
