Enjoyed the air fryer 'accessories' video and found it most informative. Would like a review of the Ninja Speedi air frier and its double element (one fan assisted at the top and a second at the bottom) heating for the food. Great for rice, pasta, lentils etc, just pour in dry then pour on water and add some frozen veg. Stir, turn on for approx 15 minutes and ready meal!
Brilliant! I am quite new to my air fryer and didn’t know you could put metal, tin foil etc or ceramic dishes in there. You have definitely improved my knowledge of air fryers.
Oh Clara what another wonderful video. Like many i have looked at all accessories for my air fryer and this video is fantastic to point out which are the better buys. Thank you as always for the wonderful video❤
I like the silicon bakeware but I do have to agree with you on the heat transfer issue.I'm new to Air Frying so I'm still just dipping my toe in with main meals and snack foods at the moment. Saying that I've just realised I used the main oven this morning to cook spare ribs instead of the Air Fryer. I now microwave my pasties/sausage rolls for a minute or 2 then put them in the Air Fryer for the pre-heat cycle to crisp them up, no-one likes soggy pastry from the microwave.
Very nice review. I have one of the shelf based air fryers - looks like a mini conventional oven. 3 racks but not a huge amount of 'clearance' between them if you use all 3. To stop cross contamination the urge is to put food on the top / middle / higher rack on some kind of baking tray. That's fine BUT make sure that your baking tray or rack allows plenty of air flow around it otherwise the stuff at the bottom won't cook and you will probably overheat the electronics in the top of the air fryer. I found some really sturdy stainless baking trays with racks (on Amazon) that occupy maybe 60% of the shelf / rack. I also found a 4 'pot' yorkshire pudding tin that occupies the full dimensions of the air fryer... that goes on the bottom(not even on a rack) then the middle rack has protein on a tray and the top shelf gets roast potatoes, parsnips etc. - I'm using a Sunday lunch example. You might get away with fabricating a suitable size tray from heavy aluminium foil but it does need to be pretty weighed down with food or it will act as a sail and lift off. I have also found a number of ceramic dishes etc. that fit just fine so fish pies, lasaggne etc. are easy to do but I tend to put them on the lowest rack to avoid overheating the electronics - you can always stick some garlic bread on the top shelf for the last 10 or 15 mins of cooking.
Place the parchment paper liners on the bottom of the air fryer with the removable grate on top thus ensuring that the air convection circulation is reaching the underside of the food. Yes, you will need to clean the grate but that is quite simple.

WOW, this video was great. I am buying the Cosori two-drawer based on your reviews and you have saved me from bad purchases and tedious amounts of research time. I was wondering what your thoughts are on pie pans and egg poachers?
Funnily enough I’m about to do a video about eggs in the air fryer, bear with me! I have an opinion, but I want to do some tests. Not sure what you would classify as a pie pan? Like a flan dish? If so I have found some excellent ones that fit the dual drawer really well (actually my mum found them first!) amzn.to/47VzfnV
@@CandidClara Thank you so much for your reply! I actually will buy the standard small French tart pans with the removable bottoms and fluted edges-like your Mum's choice! They are great for small quiches, tarts, etc. I am looking forward to your thoughts and experiments regarding eggs (poaching, Scotch Eggs etc.) It would be interesting to see if you could devise a way to bake meringues or tarts with meringue toppings. I suspect it is not possible. Convection ovens (not air fryer) are a no go when baking Meringue unless you like massive amounts of egg whites flying around your oven and adhering to the walls. Great tutorial on air fryer accessories. Yes, I bought quite a few that I just didn't use. The the flat grease proof liners are very useful. They don't catch everything, but they do most of the heavy lifting. What I do use all the time, though, is a heavy duty cake tin that fits perfectly into my Cosori air fryer. It conducts heat very well, is easy to clean, and practically bullet-proof. Regarding the silicone accessories, well, as you say, a nightmare to clean, and just terrible at conducting heat.
Lovely to hear that feedback, yes I've got a couple of cake tins I love which are really versatile. In fact my mum and sister have just bought some the same!
great video, we also bought into the silicone baking trays and ended up chucking it out, it just added to the cooking time and the chips that we bought it for were not good, your right, have a look around your house and use the stuff you've used for years, the lifting tool is a must and im heading over to amazon to buy one now. thanks for the video.
"Tante grazie" from "bella Italia" - your informations were ( and will be ) very helpful - and interesting !! Especially the one with the prefilled spray-tins is very interesting - nobody told me about that. Just a suggestion - and please check yourself - ordinary olive oil, which is not made for frying ( and you get those as well ) are not made for very high temperatures - I suggest Rapeseed-oil, which is cheap, newtral and easy to find - and can cope high temperatures... thanks a lot !!
Two hot topics when it comes to air fryers, non-stick coatings and oil types! Personally I use olive oil, in an air fryer where it is not direct on the heat it is unlikely to pass its smoke point, but please feel free to use your choice of oil.
@@CandidClara Thanks for your quick answer... I have two points as well : First of all not all readers will know about "the smokingpoint", the fact, that olive oil shpuld not be used like the neutral oils. Second of all: Olive oil is not neutral - it always brings a different taste with it ! I do not know, wether you and the readers are aware, that there are olive oils especially produced for higher temperatures. The "problem"" of the additional taste finds no solution with that - but quite often the taste of "oliva" is preferred ... I am living in Italy and we are used to olive-oil quite a lot - we have always 15-20L at home and use it frequently - but as I said not for everything ... Today I used ( for the first time ) an oil-spray - OUTSIDE of the airfryer basket - directly into silicon-muffin-shapes. It worked perfectly - no additional taste, not a single sticky point ...
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen, thank you so much! As a new air fryer owner, I was thinking about buying that silicone liners but was reluctant to do so. Also all the other tips are amazing, I've watched a lot of videos but you've just answered all my questions. And gained a new subscriber 😉🎉
The Cosori is our family air fryer and I would say its running volume is very average. I generally only comment if they are significantly noisier (Ninja 14 in 1!!) or quieter than average and as for beeping, you can turn the beeps off… I’m actually making a short video about that. Hope that helps!
I have been looking for your Cosori airfryer however have been unable to find them sold in any of the major shop and have been advised that they have been re-called do you have any feed back about this many thanks 😊
Great review! I found that the rack for my Instant Pot works in my air fryer! It's a bit smaller but it does work if I ever find I need one. (They're helpful, too, in holding down parchment paper.) Like you've pointed out for several of these, we might already have something in our kitchen that will work rather than purchasing something especially for an AF. On the spray oil, I have read that as long as it's a non-aerosol spray pump that only contains the oil, then they're safe to use. I have found several of these locally. I use the spray pumps with only avocado oil, no propellent or anything else.
Yes there are definitely safe ones out there, but as a general guide I try to steer people away from pre-filled to be safe because I think most people don’t look closely enough at the ingredients! Thanks for the comment.
@@CandidClara I read the ingredients on everything, but I do know people who never look at the ingredients, only the nutrition lable. So I can understand that!
You can find avocado oil sprays that are safe to use in an air fryer. The problem ingredient in most others is soy lecithin, so just make sure that's not listed on the can. In the US, there's a brand called Chosen Foods that's sold at several of the big grocery stores.
@grahamjohnson4702 Not sure what you're getting at, but it's not really disputed that soy lecithin is the cause of the nonstick surface getting gunked and sticky. There's room for debate on the health impact of various substances you can find in many sprays, but whatever is present is listed on the container. As for the specific spray I mentioned, it contains only avocado oil under pressure. There are no chemicals/propellants/emuslifiers/etc in it.
You mentioned in passing that you were a Marmite person. - Try a smear of orange marmalade on top of it sometime. It sounds unlikely, but tastes Wonderful! BTW: Have just ordered a spray bottle and tin-lifting tongs from Amazon. Many thanks!
That sounds like a great way to make the most of your rack! Both cherry tomatoes and mushrooms are delicious when dehydrated. What are you planning to do with them?
oh, the tomatoes go into olive oil with herbs and are delicious in everything from salad to cold meat, in casseroles or with cheese and I crumble dehydrated mushrooms into any savoury cooking for deeper flavour.
I dont use silicone tipped tongs becuse ive had trouble finding ones that dont shed the silicone tips. Im just careful with the tongs (like you are with the carving fork)
Ooops, I have used pre filled Bertolli olive oil sprayer in our air fryer. It states propellant free, oil dispensed using pure air, so is this product safe to use? Excellent video, you saved us from silicone liners.
I think you might find this video helpful! th-cam.com/video/425oE09Y7FM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vA9maYjiOFbE2KE7 My current air fryer is the Cosori which is between the two Ninja sizes (I’ve also owned both Ninjas!) th-cam.com/video/xrKMTGarBBs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2HRpfVa4lJ4pjuRI
Air fryers tend to dry out toast too much in thhe middle. A better result comes from cooking it in a clean frying pan on a medium heat - no need for oil. An optional thin sprinkling of salt flakes in the pan first helps with flavour and provides a small air gap that makes it cook more evenly. The surface will be nice and crisp but the middle will still have enough moisture.
Interesting idea! We are 50/50 in this house as to whether a dry middle is good or bad, my son thinks it’s like fried bread (funnily enough) without the fat and loves that
Bought a silicone liner and will never get one again. They are a royal pain to clean and remove burnt food and stains. Gave it to my daughter who hated it and now it sits in my grandson's bedroom full of crayons lol
Bought tongs and silicon basket and mits. Tongs and mits went into the bin after first painful use. Silican basket successful enough to buy another. Best accessory so far? Common or garden cooking foil. That all said - much appreciate most of the info here.
@CandidClara You're welcome. Still think air friers are the best things since sliced bread. Even though (thankfully?) they don't actually fry. Other than my 80 yo fingers when I get careless! 😄😄 Got into a dispute in a column like this a while ago - what better tool in a kitchen than a microwave? Comprehensively flamed when I opted for the superiority of a shovel over a garden bonfire! Though an air frier is admittedly a mite more convenient. 😄
I've just been spending an inordinate amount of time researching a reliable oil spray bottle which actually sprays a mist rather than a solid stream of oil. Judging by the many reviews on Amazon etc. for a variety of bottles, this seems to be a real problem with these products irrespective of how much you spend. How have you overcome this problem Clara?
@CandidClara That's not true. Non-stick and PFAS equipment is everywhere and allowed to be sold. Something being sold on the market is not a good indicator of its safety.
Hi Clara, are supermarket roasting bags safe to use in an AF. Also is aluminium sheet ok too or will it scratch/damage the non stick coating. I used to use both on my old rotisserie style halogen heat source AF im a novice to my modern Tefal twin basket AF Thanks DougT
The bags are not a good idea, too much risk of them touching the element and catching, as for aluminum sheet, plenty of people do use it, but I prefer non-stick paper as less risk of scratching!
Sticking a silicon liner in the dishwasher is easier/takes up less space than the entire drawer, and is quicker to wash in the sink than the entire drawer, but I can see why people don't like them. I would rather the disposable ones, but just means a lot of waste and you need to keep buying them.
I haven’t joined the air fryer generation. I just do what my mother and grandmother did when they put the oven on… fill it up with food which will be eaten later in the week. It works out just as cheap and you gain in time throughout the week.
Not as cheap. Oh, you mean due to cooking in bulk. Yea in that case an oven may be required, if the bigger dual air fryers aren't enough. Or a benchtop oven... Though even then, it won't be much more (potentially) energy to use the air fryer even twice, over an oven. Some things just don't fit in an air fryer... and other times you just don't need to cook all that much food. Not every food-cooking session is a big meal-planning cook-up.
But they had big families to cook for. I have just me. Using the oven is an expensive waste. It's not the 1950's anymore, families are smaller and living situations many varied.

Thank you so much for the comment! We also rarely use our oven, but did have to admit defeat when we had 6 friends for dinner last night! 😉
Thanks for the conversion chart!
Glad to help!
Oh thank you very much for these ideas and tips! And you are very easy to listen to so I am going to subscribe, thank you!
Thank you!
Great and informative, thank you so much for this!
No problem, thanks for the comment!
Thank you so much
Thanks for the comment x
Thank you for the tips. It was a great video.
Thank you for the comment, really appreciated
great video, we also bought into the silicone baking trays and ended up chucking it out, it just added to the cooking time and the chips that we bought it for were not good, your right, have a look around your house and use the stuff you've used for years, the lifting tool is a must and im heading over to amazon to buy one now.
thanks for the video.
Thank you for the comment John, much appreciated
Thank you for all your advice you are amazing
Ahhh thanks Rima! 🙏😊
"Tante grazie" from "bella Italia" - your informations were ( and will be ) very helpful - and interesting !!
Especially the one with the prefilled spray-tins is very interesting - nobody told me about that.
Just a suggestion - and please check yourself - ordinary olive oil, which is not made for frying
( and you get those as well ) are not made for very high temperatures - I suggest Rapeseed-oil, which
is cheap, newtral and easy to find - and can cope high temperatures...
thanks a lot !!
I have two points as well :
First of all not all readers will know about "the smokingpoint", the fact, that olive oil shpuld not be used like the neutral oils.
I am living in Italy and we are used to olive-oil quite a lot - we have always 15-20L at home and use it frequently - but as I
said not for everything ...
Thank you so much for your kind comment, it’s really appreciated! 🙏
great video!
Thank you, I appreciate the comment!
Very informative ...thank you !.
No problem!
Well done !!!! what a joy to get review based in the uk , Re the Cosori...is this noisey ? Please can you mention something on noise
The Cosori is our family air fryer and I would say its running volume is very average. I generally only comment if they are significantly noisier (Ninja 14 in 1!!) or quieter than average and as for beeping, you can turn the beeps off… I’m actually making a short video about that. Hope that helps!
Thank you very helpful will check out your video once done 😊
Wondering if you can take the crisper shelf out and bake a cake in the air fryer bucket
Yes you can
Bugger! just ordered some silicone liners for my new ninja 😂
You can always send them back 😂
You can find avocado oil sprays that are safe to use in an air fryer. The problem ingredient in most others is soy lecithin, so just make sure that's not listed on the can. In the US, there's a brand called Chosen Foods that's sold at several of the big grocery stores.
Thank you for sharing!
It's the chemicals in the spray solution that are the problem not the contents as reported by a scientist.
@@StealthyJim Perhaps I should have said additives
Really helpful, thank you. Can you tell me what the ingredient is in the pre-made spray oils that can cause damage to the coating? Thank you 😊
It’s “lecithin” it can build up on non-stick surfaces and eventually damage them
@@CandidClara THANKYOU!
One of the best videos on AF ...thank you sooo much. Greetings from ❤Germany ❤
Thank you for the comment! 🙏
Thank you, you save me a lot of money (novice)
So pleased to have helped, hope you enjoy your new air fryer!
You mentioned in passing that you were a Marmite person. - Try a smear of orange marmalade on top of it sometime. It sounds unlikely, but tastes Wonderful!
BTW: Have just ordered a spray bottle and tin-lifting tongs from Amazon. Many thanks!
You should have seen my husband’s face when I read that to him! 😆 We are doubters, but we’ll give it a go!
I meant to update you...we tried it, not awful, kind of like the salty undertones (like salted caramel!)
I'm using my rack to dehydrate - cherry tomatoes yesterday and I'm trying mushrooms today. I doubt if I'll use it for anything else though.
That sounds like a great way to make the most of your rack! Both cherry tomatoes and mushrooms are delicious when dehydrated. What are you planning to do with them?
oh, the tomatoes go into olive oil with herbs and are delicious in everything from salad to cold meat, in casseroles or with cheese and I crumble dehydrated mushrooms into any savoury cooking for deeper flavour.
is there a wire rack for baking scones etc in the Ninja dual zone looked at the Cosori one but just to long
I dont use silicone tipped tongs becuse ive had trouble finding ones that dont shed the silicone tips. Im just careful with the tongs (like you are with the carving fork)
Interesting. This is not a problem I have experienced, they do of course need to be removable to some degree because of cleaning
Ooops, I have used pre filled Bertolli olive oil sprayer in our air fryer. It states propellant free, oil dispensed using pure air, so is this product safe to use? Excellent video, you saved us from silicone liners.
No that one will be fine, it’s really the “light” ones that cause problems.
Meat thermometer is a must. Im constantly worried 😅
Yup!
Very helpful! Thank you! Starting to wonder if I’ve made a mistake purchasing the smaller 7litre opposed to the 9 - what size is your air fryer?
I think you might find this video helpful! th-cam.com/video/425oE09Y7FM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vA9maYjiOFbE2KE7
My current air fryer is the Cosori which is between the two Ninja sizes (I’ve also owned both Ninjas!)

We are 50/50 in this house as to whether a dry middle is good or bad, my son thinks it’s like fried bread (funnily enough) without the fat and loves that
Very helpful for us as new users, did the paper liners not work, what brand did you use
I use these ones amzn.to/3zPqD5j
Than u❤
No prob! Glad you liked it!
We hardly use salt. If you put salt on potatoes to crisp, jacket. Can you taste the salt? This was very helpful
I would worry about the salt all blowing off under the fan
I wish I'd seen this before I bought a huge silicone liner for my Flexdrawer! As soon as I held it I knew I'd never use it.
I’m seriously considering doing a video about ways to use silicone liners that you don’t use in an air fryer! 😆
Id like to see how do properly clean the air fryer
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll add that to my list of ideas for videos
Hello Clara where can I buy LIFTERS for taking items out of the air fryer please?
The links are in the description, but this is the lifter one 😁 amzn.to/4amk7jm
Bought a silicone liner and will never get one again. They are a royal pain to clean and remove burnt food and stains. Gave it to my daughter who hated it and now it sits in my grandson's bedroom full of crayons lol
This is the best use I have heard for it yet! Perhaps I should make a video about uses for silicone liners you bought and don’t use! 😆
@@CandidClara LOL! Thank you for your reply. Happy cooking! :)
I bought a ninja air fryer recently, which settings would you use to make a toast
Max crisp for 4 minutes and depending on your model this works well amzn.to/3yWz0vR
I bought silicone liners but so far haven’t use them and after what you and others have said probably won’t. Oh well that’s only a few pounds wasted.
Don't forget if you bought them from Amazon you can return them quite easily
Bought tongs and silicon basket and mits. Tongs and mits went into the bin after first painful use. Silican basket successful enough to buy another.
Best accessory so far? Common or garden cooking foil.
That all said - much appreciate most of the info here.
Haha, fortunately we are not all the same. Thanks for the comment
@CandidClara
You're welcome. Still think air friers are the best things since sliced bread. Even though (thankfully?) they don't actually fry. Other than my 80 yo fingers when I get careless! 😄😄
Got into a dispute in a column like this a while ago - what better tool in a kitchen than a microwave? Comprehensively flamed when I opted for the superiority of a shovel over a garden bonfire! Though an air frier is admittedly a mite more convenient. 😄
😆😆
NEW VIEWER---EXCELLENT
Thanks, really appreciate the comment
If I fry fries on racks is there no longer a need to flip or shake the fries?
I’m afraid I can’t answer this because I never use a rack, just stick them on the crisper plate and shake halfway, the shaking is half the fun! :-)
You are correct, it is a problem and I have yet to find a perfect solution, just a “ok” solution… let me know if you find the perfect one!
Cant find the link for the conversion app. Where is it? Karen
It’s in the description
WOW! THE SILICONE BASKETS LARGE ALMOST BIT ME!
🤔🤨
i find silicone tongs not rigid enough to lift heavy items, too much give in them
Thanks for sharing your experience
My question is are all these accessories safe and healthy to use?
They wouldn’t be allowed to be sold if they weren’t
@CandidClara That's not true. Non-stick and PFAS equipment is everywhere and allowed to be sold. Something being sold on the market is not a good indicator of its safety.
Hi Clara, are supermarket roasting bags safe to use in an AF. Also is aluminium sheet ok too or will it scratch/damage the non stick coating. I used to use both on my old rotisserie style halogen heat source AF im a novice to my modern
Tefal twin basket AF Thanks DougT
The bags are not a good idea, too much risk of them touching the element and catching, as for aluminum sheet, plenty of people do use it, but I prefer non-stick paper as less risk of scratching!
@@CandidClara thanks Clara for these tips. Cheers DougT
Top tip: to make great toast, butter the bread first.
Love this, thanks!
Sticking a silicon liner in the dishwasher is easier/takes up less space than the entire drawer, and is quicker to wash in the sink than the entire drawer, but I can see why people don't like them. I would rather the disposable ones, but just means a lot of waste and you need to keep buying them.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
I haven’t joined the air fryer generation. I just do what my mother and grandmother did when they put the oven on… fill it up with food which will be eaten later in the week. It works out just as cheap and you gain in time throughout the week.
And yet you’re still here…. 🤷♀️🤔😆
