- I filmed this interview of Andy Irons just 2 weeks before he died of dengue fever on 2nd November 2010. The 3 times world surfing champion talks about life back on Tour, his brother and world title intentions.

what we missed (4 us that did't know andy) is the point of view that he had in every wave!!! that's why he was the best he wasn't playing chess.. (kelly) he was feeling deep every wave!
He doesn’t really look strung out at all here, I guess he was just doing methadone maintenance as his doctor prescribed and was doing fine, and it’s the coke binge in Miami that caused him to take benzos to try to sleep, all was too much. If the coke wasn’t spiked with meth he probably would not have taken too many benzos and would have been fine once the coke/meth wore off. It’s a fine line, anyone who has struggled with addiction knows what that’s like. Poor guy. RIP.

but iam very sorry for what happen to him, becouse he was like Kelly the one that changed the surf... has we know it

He's been in Panama after Portugal.
But I doesn't believe either that dengue was the only cause of his death.
I think it was a mix between a weak heart, his drug issues, and dengue.

The world champion has made his final statement with his death scene. Dropping out of competition dope sick, dying alone in his airport hotel room, just trying to get back home. Sorry for your loss.
He didnt OD, but the drugs contributed to his death due to a undiagnosed heart condition..he didnt overdose,thats like saying a fat guy who has a heart attack od'd on cheeseburgers..
surfing brings a lot of pain...that's why many take drugs or drink...
