In making “Andy Irons: Kissed by God,” the directors Steve and Todd Jones accumulated hours of emotional footage of Andy’s family members, friends and competitors speaking frankly about the impact Andy made on their lives. Andy's brother Bruce, his wife Lyndie, Joel Parkinson, Nathan Fletcher, Sunny Garcia, Kelly Slater and more, sat down for the camera and let the stories and tears flow. Andy Irons Raw Outtakes are intimate portraits of the heartfelt stories, classic anecdotes, and emotionally charged moments captured during the making of the film Andy Irons: Kissed By God.
Shared by Andy’s friends and family with insights on bipolar disorder and substance abuse from leading medical specialists, this digital series sets out to expand what we know about the world champion surfer's life and his hidden struggles.

Bruce has a lot of issues I pull for the guy but watching this movie I got the sense that really they werent that close as Andy got succesful. I could be way wrong. from 2005 til his death lots of video documentation or pics all over youtube with Andy with Lyndie or Parko or hell even Kelly surf trips behind the scenes stuff on tour so some of which can be explained but even when he was winning u never see Bruce and Andy just hanging out. The only time u seen Bruce was when he was Off his ass drunk when Andy won the 06 Pipe Masters and Kai had to steady him when he said Redemption. from 03 til 10 there arent many Andy & Bruce moments for the world to see that are normal. Watching this movie it seems the only tiime they share space with each other is under the influence or when Andy is struggling with his Bi Polar issues. as told by Bruce

I always picked Kelly during the big battle days because of Kelly's clean surfing, but I wish we could actually hear something positive about Andy... I can't tell if they're trying to portray Andy as monster or a messed up person; however, it's all coming across as just that.
The dude wasn't a bad person, just a little misguided and had too much idle time... You know what they say about idle time.

I'm not saying Kelly was a saint, just that I liked Kelly during those early heats in the 2000's and the magazines. Andy would just go off in the magazines, but it didn't mean I didn't like him too. It's just that Kelly kept a lid on things and let the surfing do the talk.
What I'm actually concerned with is how many skeletons that they're dragging out of Andy's closet. I haven't heard one normal story where everyone was enjoying Andy's company and that doesn't sit tight with me. No doubt Andy was a stand up individual for a whole lot of people and we're not hearing that. The only positive clip was from Occy and that's it... They need to give some more positive clips to us and quit with the dirt, it's depressing enough to not have the guy around anymore, but they're adding insult to injury.

But everyone did enjoy his company and loved him while hiding, ignoring, lying, denying, and protecting him all at the same time. A lot of true friends who kept his skeletons hidden with honor and respect for years but that's a tough way to live with someone you love. Been there.
