@@truthmatters77 read John 2. The wedding if Cana. Jesus turns water to wine - not just ordinary wine, but a very fine wine, at the request of His mother. She acted as a mediator between the wedding couple and Jesus. The 5th commandment says to honor thy father and mother. Since Jesus, being son of God, cannot go against the Commandments. We ask for Mary to pray for us. She is the mother of God and God grants us many graces thru her. Mary - who was FULL OF GRACE - was without sin. You cannot be full of grace and sinful at the same time. Doesn't mean she was perfect like Jesus, she just never disobeyed or said no to God. She is a wonderful role model for women! I once had a local Priest say that we can eventually get out of hell. When I questioned him, he said that he would listen to a tape by Bishop Barron again and get back to me. I am not totally blaming Bishop Barron for this Priest's interpretation, however I don't think that saying "we have a reasonable hope that all men are saved" helps...
@Monica Mohan - When encountering such false statements from our fellow Catholics, try to ask-- sort of sweetly, as if you yourself are the one who is confused-- "But Father, if no one goes to (remains in) hell, then how do I explain to other people why we need a Savior?" And see what he says. In other words, troll him with kindness, and maybe a light will go on. In the meantime, pray daily: ST FAUSTINA's PRAYER FOR PRIESTS O my Jesus, I beg Thee on behalf of the whole Church: Grant it love and the light of Thy Spirit, and give power to the words of priests so that hardened hearts might be brought to repentance and return to You, O Lord. Lord, give us holy priests; Thou Thyself maintain them in holiness. O Divine and Great High Priest, may the power of Thy mercy accompany them everywhere and protect them from the devil's traps and snares which are continually being set for the souls of priests. May the power of Thy mercy, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests, for Thou canst do all things. I'm glad you are talking about hell. Well Our Lady of Fatima showed hell to the children for a reason and I believe St. Faustina saw hell, purgatory as well. They should make a movie to emphasis on these topics. If it helps any. Even St. Faustina had to spend one day in purgatory. I think many do not know this. Most recently many think that when someone dies they will say "oh they on the other side" meaning heaven. Again many need to see the truth.

One of the devil's worst deceits is to make many believe in universalism and that hell and the devil do not exist. Clearly even a skim read of Matthew's Gospel [it is also in the other 3] shows that universalism is a heresy and wishful thinking. We must pray for both others and ourselves that God will help us avoid the devil and hell and avoid the sin of presumption.

Those who make it to purgatory will eventually be in heaven. The 4 last things, Death, Judgement, Heaven or Hell are final stages so to speak, where as purgatory is temporary. Hope this helped.
As someone who struggles with faith, I have to say, with all due respect, that it is very hard for me to listen/look at these teachings and not feel repulsed by this “system”. The divine authority feels unbelievably arrogant and puristic; condemning people who did good things but didn’t believe right to eternal, physical torture. Punishing *thoughtcrimes* I just don’t understand how anyone could justify this without feeling at least a little bit draconian.
I believe there should be atonement made for any wrongdoing anyone commits, but to consider anyone should suffer for eternity for any wrongdoing they commited seems absurd and supremely immoral. One might say, but any wrongdoing anyone commits may have eternal effects. Perhaps so, but so what? If the emotional and/or physical suffering caused by wrongdoing is what determines the nature of the divine punishment the guilty receives, and that wrongdoing has a finite effect in terms of emotional and/or physical suffering, how is that proportional and therefore reasonable to believe eternal suffering is a perfectly fair form of divine justice? Emotional and physical suffering is finite in duration, intensity and kind in this mode of existence. Moreover, in the wake of evil, good can be done. And regardless if the divine punishments of Hell would be proportionate in terms of their duration, intensity and kind, to the effects of the wrongdoings anyone commits, it still doesn't make sense. Of what good does it do for any soul to suffer eternally? If the eternal suffering that all soul's in Hell experience is non-redemptive, then how would it be good for such a God to willfully sustain any soul's existence in such a state? Currently, the most reasonable form of divine justice that I'm aware of is an aspect of some near death experience accounts that has been designated as a _life review._ Some of the descriptions of the so called life review that I've read/heard of seem very reasonable to me. For example, according to some descriptions of the life review, whatever good or evil anyone commits while they're alive, they'll experience the affect they had on others and nature, both positive and negative. Why? So they can have a proper understanding of the cause and effect their choices have in objective reality, and therefore be properly equipped to grow spiritually, in this mode of existence (if they're able and willing to return), and/or another mode of existence.
God is perfect. ANY one mortal sin against him is literally a severance from His presence, forever. That’s why we have to work out our salvation with fear and trembling
Christ spoke about the existence of Hell in 240 verses of the New Testament. How many times did Christ speak or allude to the existence of Purgatory? Answer 0. How many times did any of the Apostles who were with Christ during His 3 year ministry or after Christ ascension into Heaven ever mention, or allude to Purgatory? Answer Zero.
@@tommym1341 I won't thank you, but I appreciate your efforts. None of your scripture quotes come close to an intentional or un-intentional reference to Purgatory. I looked up all your scriptural quotes in the New American Bible St Joseph Edition sponsored by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops USCCB.org which is a study Bible. Guess what their study notes, on some of these verses provide no reference positively or negatively on Purgatory. The only one that mention Purgatory at all is 2 Maccabees 12:41-45 which refutes the use of it to justify the concept of purgatory ( Christ certainly did not say it) 2 Maccabees footnote says the following " [-] This is the earliest statement of the doctrine that prayers (v. ) and sacrifices (v. ) for the dead are efficacious. Judas probably intended his purification offering to ward off punishment from the living. The author, however, uses the story to demonstrate belief in the resurrection of the just (, , , ), and in the possibility of expiation for the sins of otherwise good people who have died. This belief is similar to, but not quite the same as, the Catholic doctrine of purgatory. Tommy M logically don't you think Christ or His Apostles would have explain Purgatory as it changes God's Salvation Plan for mankind in a huge way. Purgatory was invented by the Church in the 13th century. And it basically says while God forgives you your sins, you still have to go to prison and suffer for some period of time to pay for them. The Doctrine of Purgatory is contrary to the Father God's Salvation Plan for mankind that He and His Son Jesus Christ agreed to before the foundation of the World. It is also contrary to every word spoken by Christ in His 3 year ministry on Earth, and is best expressed in *1 John 1-10* see verse 7 *The Word of Life* 1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we looked upon and touched with our hands concerns the Word of life- 2 for the life was made visible; we have seen it and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was made visible to us- 3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim now to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; for our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We are writing this so that our joy may be complete. *II. God as Light* 5 God is Light. Now this is the message that we have heard from him and proclaim to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say, “We have fellowship with him,” while we continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say, “We are without sin,” we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing. 10 If we say, “We have not sinned,” we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Bill Smith There is a purgatory because there is God’s justice. God gives us crosses so we have a chance to avoid purgatory but there is no free lunch. There or here, if one is to be saved.
@@tommym1341 So what you are saying, is you think that the sacrifice that Christ made in His Death on the Cross, which eliminated all sin, that had occurred, was occurring, and would occur in the future, was not good enough for you. You are rejecting His gift to you? And you think you must perform works to ensure eternal life for yourself. You don't care that God loves you unconditional and all He asks of you is to believe in His Son, and to avoid sin. You think you can perform enough meaningful works that Christ will be pleased to acknowledge on Judgment Day and you will be acceptable. The Pharisees of Jesus time, was scolded time and time again by Christ for this very belief in doing it themselves as imperfect human beings. Read slowly the teachings of St, Paul and St John on what I what I have said to you. (Ephesians 2:8-10) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so no one may boast. For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them. (John 3: 14:18)And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.” For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
Bill Smith Who told you that Christ’s death on the cross eliminated sin? That’s some faulty logic because if it’s true it means we don’t have free will Christ’s death redeemed His followers from the penalty of sin, that is, they have an opportunity to be saved IF they continue to fight the good fight (I.e choose not to sin etc..) until He calls them (I.e when they die)

Truth is above liberty- we spend our life choosing as we see fit, we exist for the sake of goodness and love. Love God and glorify God for yourself. Do not lose sight of Hell or you will not appreciate what salvation for Heaven is.
In the meantime, pray daily:
ST FAUSTINA's PRAYER FOR PRIESTS
O my Jesus, I beg Thee on behalf of the whole Church: Grant it love and the light of Thy Spirit, and give power to the words of priests so that hardened hearts might be brought to repentance and return to You, O Lord. (Diary 1052)

Can you talk about the hope and existence of heaven as well please. I don't know that I get enough of the goal from Catholics, but rather the eternal damnation awaiting most of us. I am always unlovable. I am destine to hell no matter what. It is scary. I was also raised very Catholic, but without the bible, and some PPX stuff, and how most of us would go to hell and Jesus doesn't really love us. It is not good to encourage love for God in a healthy way and/or scripture. It just made me feel hopless and even more distant from what Love of my Father in Heaven is. Still struggle. I understand them wanting to explain hell to those who don't believe it exists and it's severity, but is it important to God for us to make this a huge point in our faith? I dont know. All I know is that is all I hear from Catholics I grew up with is stuff like this, and not knowing the love of a father, makes me feel hopless.

If you choose to reject the Catholic Church and follow some other Christian religion, are you choosing hell?
But wait, I thought we all had a reasonable hope that we are all saved?
No purgatory?
Those who make it to purgatory will eventually be in heaven. The 4 last things, Death, Judgement, Heaven or Hell are final stages so to speak, where as purgatory is temporary. Hope this helped.
As someone who struggles with faith, I have to say, with all due respect, that it is very hard for me to listen/look at these teachings and not feel repulsed by this “system”. The divine authority feels unbelievably arrogant and puristic; condemning people who did good things but didn’t believe right to eternal, physical torture. Punishing *thoughtcrimes*
I just don’t understand how anyone could justify this without feeling at least a little bit draconian.
Yes, humility is a virtue.
So is temperance.
Lets pray for the 17 dunmies that put thumbs down
I believe there should be atonement made for any wrongdoing anyone commits, but to consider anyone should suffer for eternity for any wrongdoing they commited seems absurd and supremely immoral.

It is also contrary to every word spoken by Christ in His 3 year ministry on Earth, and is best expressed in *1 John 1-10* see verse 7
*The Word of Life* 1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we looked upon and touched with our hands concerns the Word of life- 2 for the life was made visible; we have seen it and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was made visible to us- 3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim now to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; for our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
Bill Smith
There is a purgatory because there is God’s justice.
(Ephesians 2:8-10) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God;
it is not from works, so no one may boast.
For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them.
(John 3: 14:18)And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
Bill Smith
Who told you that Christ’s death on the cross eliminated sin?
That’s some faulty logic because if it’s true it means we don’t have free will
Christ’s death redeemed His followers from the penalty of sin, that is, they have an opportunity to be saved IF they continue to fight the good fight (I.e choose not to sin etc..) until He calls them (I.e when they die)
I believe in hell for do not I do not believe that one mortal sin put you into hell
