Punisher would be the easiest game to make, it's a dude with guns fighting criminals, literally the most common vanilla theme in video game history. I would love to see a really gritty and brutal Punisher game, he's such a dark hero and I absolutely LOVED the 2004 game, it was so fuckin' good.

yeah Manhunt plus Max Payne was pretty much what the 2004 game was like, especially if you installed the gore mod that patches back in the uncensored interrogations
The first Watchdogs, for all its faults, did a real good job of being a stealth Punisher game. All the trademarks are there. Aiden Pierce was like Frank and Micro mixed into one character, and it's his tragedy that turned him into the violent vigilante he became. His moral compass lines up with Frank almost perfectly. I really think it's an underrated game. Shoot the last word of the game during the epilogue is even "Punishment".
2004's The Punisher was one of my fav games. It wasn't perfect, but still very enjoyable. Frank deserve another game.. after 16 years i'd say it's a high time for it. Especially when Marvel MCU is at it's peak of popularity.
You know what would be a better template for Punisher?- Hitman- Pretty much, you take Punisher, you test the waters with a semi-open world like the newer hitman games do, you add genuine interrogation and scare tactics with some realistic but not overly so violence, and you really emphasize the guerilla dirty front line soldier tactics that Punisher uses, like- This is another big thing that separates him from other comic book characters in general- He doesn't have any powers at all, and he doesn't even have any fancy suits or gadgets really- He's just a man with a mission that, misguided or no, he has his heart and soul set on completing until the day he dies- So I think something that would suit him very well is almost like a...ghetto secret agent sort of theme- Because he really has nothing going for him, except for his tactics, and his ability to use anything to kill someone with- Really, imagine what a faithful John Wick game would be like, and that would be sort of the same feel as the Punisher, and it's a tricky balance where you need to get the gameplay just aggressive enough that you truly feel like- For lack of a better phrase- A monster on a rampage- But not SO aggressive that he feels like a bullet sponge- A lot of it should probably in my opinion deal with tactics and planning in order to give yourself the best advantage possible- Cut the lights out and go in with night vision and kill them before they can see you, before leaving one left you can squeeze information out of to help you with preparing for the next area or mission and so on- Punisher's gameplay should really be if you took an action movie detective, made him the most jaded person ever and made it so he had nothing left to lose by doing the things he does- Like he's constantly putting pieces of a murder puzzle together in order to both eliminate his targets while finding his next one- I honestly think the PS2 game did a pretty good job adapting him, but it's mainly been held back due to it's age, low audience appeal at the time, low budget and technical limitations- Think LA Noire meets man hunt, meets Hitman. You might need to sacrifice it being "open world" in order for it to be a better product, because like what you were saying, the Punisher is a man of focus, and the game must reflect that, the easiest way of doing that, is to confine the area to being semi-linear where you have the freedom to really use the environment to your advantage and explore, but not so much that you're getting side tracked and disengaged with dealing with something that doesn't add value like travel time- For characters like Spider-Man or Batman and stuff, open world makes sense, because the way they move and travel is like part of their identity at this point- Not quite so much with Punisher-
He can work in open world, but only in a way it benefits his character. For an example, let’s say Frank can get a helicopter, even if he lands on top of a building, he’s not gonna manage to climb down, I mean, there wouldn’t be a reason for devs make all buildings climbable since Punisher doesn’t usually do that because he’s not a superhero to go jumping from building to building.
Volition should make another one as a sequel tot he 2005 game. Have Thomas Jane returned, if he can’t do it physically anymore because Jon Bernthal is doing it. And since Volition did Saints Row which is a gta style game, I could see it happening. Just also make the interrogations more darker and more to where you have a honor system. And have boss battles.
Would love to see a video on whether a Blade game would be eaiser to make. Blade almost has his own universe when it comes to marvel comics. So I think the type of enemies he would be facing as well as gameplay style would be pretty interesting..
I actually loved the Thomas Jane Punisher game! I love your point about Batman/Spiderman getting oversaturated while characters like Punisher and others fade into obscurity. I do think that they could make like a Punisher Origin style game, this way you introduce the character, his backstory and maybe even give characters a choice as to how far they want to go to obtain Frank's idea of justice. Let's be honest, Marvel and DC could afford a hit financially if a game tanks, BUT I also think with enough thought and effort you could make double that in a sequel.
These ideas and everything you do here is amazing and you are my favorite TH-camr for things like Arkham games just because of how you have good ideas and positive and negatives that make sense

I like the GTA style as well, but my first thought was militaristic fps, having the main story take place in the states (maybe New York, I don't know too much about what other cities he frequents) interspersed with flashbacks to his time in the military overseas. I feel like really digging into his psyche and trauma could make it something really unique and special

They could start the game with you in a war then you come home and then your family gets killed and add unlockable weapons and outfits face camos and have a blend in with dark or if your on grand nixon Island have him blend in mud or grass and add the war machine suit that would be amazing and make it a dark violent gory gritty game
Gonna be honest, it reminds me of a bit of Mafia 3 to an extent. Especially the allies mention, hell, the protagonist of Mafia 3 was compared to Frank Castle but if he carved out a criminal empire. In addition, the hand to hand gameplay would be a mixture of Kazuma Kiryu's and some Lincoln Clay [the knife executions come to mind]. Mainly to show off that Frank is just as dangerous with his hands as with a high-powered firearm. The allies [potentially] with bonuses: - Yorkie Mitchell. Bonus: he comes in with backup after a phone call. - Lynn Michaels. Bonus: able to reduce your alert level [alarming police presence] - Martin Soap. Bonus: able to increase damage with said firearms The main villain of said potential Punisher game? I'd say someone like Barracuda, mainly as a contrast to Frank.
The best way is for them to go the SC Blacklist route with being able to do Lethal and Non Lethal takedowns. So for criminals you can chose Lethal/Non Lethal and for Law /Civs Non Lethal
I wouldn't want it to be a cover shooter. I love some cover shooters, but in a superhero game, I just want to go balls to the walls, be an absolute badass, not hide behind cover.
Na it needs it, as its natural to take cover in a gunfight, even if it's just to reload. Even Max Payne added a cover mechanic eventually, 3rd person shooter games feel dated without them.

Features I would love is Open World with a Slum District, City, Suburbs, and Industrial District Interrogations need to return. When fighting enemies, you can interrogate specific enemies to unlock side mission locations and collectibles Side Activities. Imagine if during free roam you can stop drug busts, dismantle sex trafficking rings, destroy arms caches, and stop random muggings/assaults Morality system: The game will have a meter that judges how you play. The game will let you be merciful or sadistic towards criminals. Leaving them alive after interrogations will increase public perception of Punisher and get the law off your back/civilians will help you with info, but sparing criminals will have very little upgrade point handouts. Or go all out punisher and leave no criminal alive, with public perception being negative and the police actively searching for you, BUT you're rewarded with more upgrade points the more brutal you are Battle Van. Punisher will have his trademark van to get around, and no I will not have it like the batmobile segments. The van will only be for transport and hold your weapons you got through looting enemies or story progression Be its own thing. I love the comic storylines, but an original story would be a refreshing take on the character Villains. Punisher has some evil and downright disturbing rogues. Having Ma Gnucci, Jigsaw, Russian, Bushwacker and Baracuda would be amazing Wanted System: Your actions, like GTA, will affect the law's response. Massacring criminals will give you notoriety and police will start searching for you. The ways to get your wanted level down are: Hide in one of your many safe houses, tear down wanted posters, phone in Micro to hack into the database and wipe your record (can only be used once, then a cooldown will start) Micro: Micro will be your best ally. He's got all the upgrades and weapons and you can even pay him for special favors such as lower your wanted level or summon drones to assist you in combat. Micro will have access to the "Black Market" where you can buy Costumes, Weapons, Armor, medkits, and Battle Van customization. Micro will even give you discounts and occasional free items (in exchange for helping him with favors) Punishment Mode: With every enemy you down, Punisher will have a skull meter that fills up. Once full, Punishment Mode can be used. When activated, Frank will go into a PTSD, rage driven frenzy. He will become invincible and drop the weapons he's currently holding. He will then massacre any enemy you go near with his bare hands until the meter drains Combat: Like GTA, shooting will be the main focus, however Frank will also have knives, clubs and his barehands to fight utilizing his marine background. One Shot Environmental takedowns will be here as well (grabbing bear bottles and stabbing enemies, mashing enemy heads into car doors kingpin style, throwing enemies into electrical fences, burning enemies faces on hot surfaces etc) Stealth: Frank will be able to go in quietly. However unlike Batman, he is loud and his takedowns will alert nearby enemies. So stealth will not be encouraged much, but will be an option Romances and Relationships: Punisher has always been a loner, but doesn't mean he can't have casual flings or socialize. There will be a handful of female npcs frank can romance. IE, stop a girl from being assaulted at a bar and she and frank will hit it off. She'll have a few "date" side missions, which could add a humorous side to Frank since he's so quiet and not known for his social skills. Also, the morality system will tie into this. If a dateable npc sees you be too violent or your morality is too low, she'll be petrified of you and permanently cut you off Mini activities. Bars will be open for frank to drink, darts and play pool. He can also go to the shooting range for practice (the owner of the range could be an old marine he used to tour with)
I'd honestly love a punisher game. A little military flashback here and there with his wife and kids. I'd kinda love to see his punisher origin where you're trying to save his kids but you couldn't. Kinda giving you a feeling of dread before throwing you into it as to whoever did it in that story.
Have a mission where he was in the war and than after that he is and his wife, son and daughter, were killed by the mob and he is on a mission through Central Park to kill all of them and that’s how he became the punisher. Also another mission would be when Frank’s wife’s family mourns him and they were murdered by a different gang. And he takes punishment on both mobs.
I’ve been thinking this for a while burbles me out, a game tlou style, with better fighting hand to hand or knife , while open world with side missions and main missions with little crimes around the city would be amazing
Let's be honest ok? With all these marvel games released, Deadpool, The Punisher, and Daredevil, ghost Rider, they need some serious attention. They need more games.
Fun fact their was supposed to be a Punisher 2 game (the 2004 one) and it was supposed to be a open world gta type game, but sadly their Marvel license ran out, then it turned into saints row 2, I would recommend looking up some videos about it.
There are plenty of Superhero games that people want to have multiple endings where you chose what kind of hero you want them to be and that sort of thing, but that would work far better with an anti-hero like Frank than someone like Spider-Man who is more clearly way over in the clear cut true hero area of things.
I think this van could be like a portable base, much like in Days Gone - the place where you can swap weapons, where you can store prisoners or trophies, maybe like on your windshield or so... could be a cool concept for a Punisher character who´s also on the run from the authorities so I doubt he´d have like a barn to stay in for long or so... Also, as you mentioned, you could perhaps learn new skills from the PTSD and from his memories of the war, like maybe these memories were suppressed by him and now need to be brought back for the revenge he´s carrying out which also shows the tragedy of his character... (this is a similar mechanic like in the Fallen Order but with different dramatic connotations)
I know it's unlikely but I think would be cool if the Punisher appeared in Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 as a supporting character and have post credits scene where it sets up a Punisher game!
I think your reasoning for the Marvel/DC concepts are easily managed once a studio gets the licence; because once you buy the rights you then say you're going to crowd fund it. Then either the company has to get over their crap and pay you or they'll get to see the fan loyalty to these smaller characters in a way that allows them to learn how much to invest in the future. As for a Punisher game; I'd actually do something odd and kinda weird and also make it a Daredevil game. Each one with a separate campaign that builds until the other hero is the penultimate boss. Depending on which you play first I'd even have things like the torture play into Matt's views on Frank and Matt's level of good defenses influence Frank's view on him. Now I don't know if that's feasible but I would love it.
We need a Punisher game for sure! I'd say make it where you go to certain neighborhoods in NYC that you can free roam in and take out criminals and you can travel between the different areas.
I think volition and a publisher (maybe Capcom or Square Enix), should make another punisher game like how the former did the 2005 game. I would like it to be a sequel to the 2005 one if volition were developing it. Plus Volition did Saints Row and it’s a gta sandbox so why not? Use the interrogation system from the 2005 Thomas Jane one, but make it more brutal and have an honor system like Red Dead Redemption. Have you drive the battle van around the city in a open world to stop random crimes in a True Crime style. Have Boss battles such as The Russian, Bushwacker, Kingpin, Bullseye, The Jackal, etc in each chapter. Have Punisher meet Daredevil, Black Widow, and Spider-Man. And for daredevil as when as Matt Murdoch, Frank Castle was framed for killing innocents and tries to prove his innocence for what happened in the 2005 events. Borrow Elements from the 2005 game and I agree with him having PTSD, basically using flashbacks from the 2005 as ideas, but add more to it. Customize more weapon details. Have Punisher make choices such as letting certain people live or die. If Frank castle were to steal vehicles, it can just be influenced by the True Crime series and Sleeping Dogs. I would like if Thomas Jane returned to voice him again as the sequel to the 2005 game. And basically did another sequel to what happened after the 2004 film in game form. If Joan was to return, I wouldn’t mind if Rebecca Romeign-Stamos reprised her role. And Ben Foster as Spacker Dave. Have missions when Frank was in the military seeing innocents and his own soldiers being killed and tortured. Have some actors that played certain characters from previous marvel media play those characters.
You could do it like watchdogs or red dead 2 with the honour rating, I'd have it as 2 different mechanics, what people in the world KNOW that you do and what you actually do. EG you save or try to save a guy from being robbed but end up killing him by accident, if there's no one around to see it, no one knows you did it, people still hold you as a vigilante, but you know you did it, so that fucks with frank's head, the more innocents you kill by accident or otherwise the more Frank just goes fucking insane and convinces himself he's still the good guy even though you blew up a fucking apartment block full of people to get to one pimp.
I'd like a punisher game that's similar to hitman meets assassin's creed. Have him preparing and sneaking around listening to conversations to get clues to save people and setting up traps and stuff. Then bam go in guns blazing tapping into phoned. Have interesting tech

the knife and character movements in GTA are just to slow in my mind for a punisher game. i think the game should play more like Max Payne with the Guns (fast firing, you can slow down time and he can jump to the sides with them, he can also use john wick gunfu) the melee weapons would play like in DMC (where you can do combos with each of them, and also executions) i'd keep the torture system, but change it so its like the interrogations in MGS3 (where you can knockout or kill the enemies) i'd also make it similar to the Thomas Jane game, where you have a variety of torture methods from mission to mission
Sadly the Deadpool's videogame hadn't success. It is a shame, but that could made developers sceptical to invest on "secondary" superheros (or in this case antihero). For me The Punisher's 90's beat'em up and the 2004's game are some of the best hero games out there. And I'd love to have another one.

I think it’d be made like this. Free roam only at night (when crime is up and not a lot of civilians are out kinda like the Arkham games) where you can drive around in the franks van and you’ll come across some random crime activities and you’ll also be able to go to the back of the van and choose which weapons you take (kinda like mafia 3) and then whenever you do a main mission (maybe some side missions as well) it’ll be like the old game with a linear level and special interrogations. I think it’ll be important to have gameplay similar to the old with a cover based system. the only issue I see with a punisher game is gore and violence and nowadays their aren’t a lot of studios who have the balls to try and make a game like that. Even rockstar, I feel have toned down their violence in games over the years.
Believe it or not, gta onlines many different features with gameplay and customization is very inspiring for stuff like heroes, villains, and anti-heroes since you could basically (as seen in the video) be punisher or the joker or a lot of stuff which is fun with imaginative thinking but the only downside is the cost to get what you want/need.
I use GTA for a punisher game, like this. Been begging for a new punisher game for a few years now. Just as a new Wolverine game. I 100% agree with you about game layout, game play, and visual of the game, but add different version of the battle vans, and the GTO from the movie, different outfits.
Get the basic ideas from GTA. the gunplay from Ghost Recon Wild Lands, the weapons customization from MW and a more basic, brutal and slow version of the Arkham hand to hand combat
I think that a game that's framed more in the light of FARCRY 5, especially the very open world and extent of ways you can kill your enemies is a better idea than the GTA mold. The idea of having a bunch of enemies just roaming around is also a good translation from FARCRY. There are several ways to just annihilate your enemies in the FARCRY games that just scream PUNISHER to me.
What you got into at the end about these companies taking risks is something that's bothered me for awhile now. Yes it might be safe to stick to a few sure hits in the mean time but it won't last forever and compared to what they'd make if broadening their scope in games worked it honestly seems foolish. Especially for DC considering they'll be playing catch up with the MCU for the foreseeable future but have a real chance to be well ahead of them in games. I'm not saying they should immediately jump to as many games as they can feasibly make but I think starting their own studios and seeing how a few other characters would do would be a smart move. By the way if you're keeping up with Marvel characters for this these l'd love one for Moon Knight but with a focus on how it could be different from the Arkham series. He does have moon themed versions of a lot of the same tools but one key difference is the melee weapons which Batman doesn't generally use. There's the spiked cestus which are pretty brutal and these awesome transforming truncheons. They've turned into nunchaku, a Bo staff, serve as his grappling hook (which he also uses as a weapon sometimes), and I'm sure there are other modifications I'm not thinking of. Switching between those on the fly sounds like it'd be pretty fun and with a different combat system I don't think it'd be like Arkham at all. I don't know how much of character the character you've read but if you or anyone wants to get into Moon Knight I can't recommend the original series and the stories in Hulk Magazine that lead up to it enough. There were other great runs by Charlie Huston, Warren Ellis, and Jeff Lemire but honestly most Moon Knight comics are at least good just stay away from the series by Bendis and recently by Max Bemis.
How can they make an amazing Punisher game: 1. Add a brutal cinematic h2h combat (Similar like Uncharted 4 or TLOU) 2. Fast pacing shooting mechanics with bullet-time and different set pieces (more or less like Max Payne and Uncharted series) 3. Add interrogations and stealth section 4. Add boss battles (Barracuda, The Russian, Bushwacker, Jigsaw, Kingpin) 5. Let it be story driven third person linear game, not a garbage snooze fest open world. Punisher is my fav Marvel anti-hero, it sucks that none of these devs can't make a great game with him.
Dude I wish volition could get the license back for punisher. Gta type city building with Max Payne like set pieces, watchdogs gunplay and some of those 2004 ideas for some game mechanics. That would be amazing.
They should. It should act as a sequel to the 2005 game and Thomas Jane reprising his role. And volition did Saints Row so they I think it could work. Plus, the 2005 game got ideas from Max Payne, so it should use ideas from SR1 and SR2, and Frank can use the Battle van and have Microchip as a communicator similar to the Metal Gear Solid codec calls.
I feel like a good game that could be used for ideas would be Last of Us. The stealth gameplay in that is really cool and I think that could work for Frank, as well as the gunplay. If it were to happen, I'd want him to be voiced by Jon Bernthal

Marvel really needs more games besides just the traditional mcu characters. A single player punisher game with an original story would be good. A dark story, cameos from daredevil or Spider-Man, customizable guns and armor, skill points and upgrades. Some stealth mechanics for infiltration.

You might need to sacrifice it being "open world" in order for it to be a better product, because like what you were saying, the Punisher is a man of focus, and the game must reflect that, the easiest way of doing that, is to confine the area to being semi-linear where you have the freedom to really use the environment to your advantage and explore, but not so much that you're getting side tracked and disengaged with dealing with something that doesn't add value like travel time-
For characters like Spider-Man or Batman and stuff, open world makes sense, because the way they move and travel is like part of their identity at this point-
Not quite so much with Punisher-
He can work in open world, but only in a way it benefits his character. For an example, let’s say Frank can get a helicopter, even if he lands on top of a building, he’s not gonna manage to climb down, I mean, there wouldn’t be a reason for devs make all buildings climbable since Punisher doesn’t usually do that because he’s not a superhero to go jumping from building to building.
Also I hope they nail that he’s not out for revenge, he’s doing it for punishment against criminals

Volition should make another one as a sequel tot he 2005 game. Have Thomas Jane returned, if he can’t do it physically anymore because Jon Bernthal is doing it. And since Volition did Saints Row which is a gta style game, I could see it happening. Just also make the interrogations more darker and more to where you have a honor system. And have boss battles.
Would love to see a video on whether a Blade game would be eaiser to make. Blade almost has his own universe when it comes to marvel comics. So I think the type of enemies he would be facing as well as gameplay style would be pretty interesting..

I actually loved the Thomas Jane Punisher game! I love your point about Batman/Spiderman getting oversaturated while characters like Punisher and others fade into obscurity. I do think that they could make like a Punisher Origin style game, this way you introduce the character, his backstory and maybe even give characters a choice as to how far they want to go to obtain Frank's idea of justice. Let's be honest, Marvel and DC could afford a hit financially if a game tanks, BUT I also think with enough thought and effort you could make double that in a sequel.

I like the GTA style as well, but my first thought was militaristic fps, having the main story take place in the states (maybe New York, I don't know too much about what other cities he frequents) interspersed with flashbacks to his time in the military overseas. I feel like really digging into his psyche and trauma could make it something really unique and special

I really hope they make a new punisher game open world with grand nixon Island. They could start the game with you in a war then you come home and then your family gets killed and add unlockable weapons and outfits face camos and have a blend in with dark or if your on grand nixon Island have him blend in mud or grass and add the war machine suit that would be amazing and make it a dark violent gory gritty game
No Mercy's multiplayer was the first online FPS I've ever played. They should make a new game for sure.
Gonna be honest, it reminds me of a bit of Mafia 3 to an extent. Especially the allies mention, hell, the protagonist of Mafia 3 was compared to Frank Castle but if he carved out a criminal empire.
In addition, the hand to hand gameplay would be a mixture of Kazuma Kiryu's and some Lincoln Clay [the knife executions come to mind]. Mainly to show off that Frank is just as dangerous with his hands as with a high-powered firearm.
The allies [potentially] with bonuses:
- Yorkie Mitchell. Bonus: he comes in with backup after a phone call.
- Lynn Michaels. Bonus: able to reduce your alert level [alarming police presence]
- Martin Soap. Bonus: able to increase damage with said firearms
The main villain of said potential Punisher game? I'd say someone like Barracuda, mainly as a contrast to Frank.
Watch dogs is similar to the punisher. Aidan Pearce. The stealth, the takedowns the gun battles.
The best way is for them to go the SC Blacklist route with being able to do Lethal and Non Lethal takedowns. So for criminals you can chose Lethal/Non Lethal and for Law /Civs Non Lethal
I wouldn't want it to be a cover shooter. I love some cover shooters, but in a superhero game, I just want to go balls to the walls, be an absolute badass, not hide behind cover.
Na it needs it, as its natural to take cover in a gunfight, even if it's just to reload. Even Max Payne added a cover mechanic eventually, 3rd person shooter games feel dated without them.

Open World with a Slum District, City, Suburbs, and Industrial District
Interrogations need to return. When fighting enemies, you can interrogate specific enemies to unlock side mission locations and collectibles
Side Activities. Imagine if during free roam you can stop drug busts, dismantle sex trafficking rings, destroy arms caches, and stop random muggings/assaults
Morality system: The game will have a meter that judges how you play. The game will let you be merciful or sadistic towards criminals. Leaving them alive after interrogations will increase public perception of Punisher and get the law off your back/civilians will help you with info, but sparing criminals will have very little upgrade point handouts. Or go all out punisher and leave no criminal alive, with public perception being negative and the police actively searching for you, BUT you're rewarded with more upgrade points the more brutal you are
Battle Van. Punisher will have his trademark van to get around, and no I will not have it like the batmobile segments. The van will only be for transport and hold your weapons you got through looting enemies or story progression
Be its own thing. I love the comic storylines, but an original story would be a refreshing take on the character
Villains. Punisher has some evil and downright disturbing rogues. Having Ma Gnucci, Jigsaw, Russian, Bushwacker and Baracuda would be amazing
Wanted System: Your actions, like GTA, will affect the law's response. Massacring criminals will give you notoriety and police will start searching for you. The ways to get your wanted level down are: Hide in one of your many safe houses, tear down wanted posters, phone in Micro to hack into the database and wipe your record (can only be used once, then a cooldown will start)
Micro: Micro will be your best ally. He's got all the upgrades and weapons and you can even pay him for special favors such as lower your wanted level or summon drones to assist you in combat. Micro will have access to the "Black Market" where you can buy Costumes, Weapons, Armor, medkits, and Battle Van customization. Micro will even give you discounts and occasional free items (in exchange for helping him with favors)
Punishment Mode: With every enemy you down, Punisher will have a skull meter that fills up. Once full, Punishment Mode can be used. When activated, Frank will go into a PTSD, rage driven frenzy. He will become invincible and drop the weapons he's currently holding. He will then massacre any enemy you go near with his bare hands until the meter drains
Combat: Like GTA, shooting will be the main focus, however Frank will also have knives, clubs and his barehands to fight utilizing his marine background. One Shot Environmental takedowns will be here as well (grabbing bear bottles and stabbing enemies, mashing enemy heads into car doors kingpin style, throwing enemies into electrical fences, burning enemies faces on hot surfaces etc)
Stealth: Frank will be able to go in quietly. However unlike Batman, he is loud and his takedowns will alert nearby enemies. So stealth will not be encouraged much, but will be an option
Romances and Relationships: Punisher has always been a loner, but doesn't mean he can't have casual flings or socialize. There will be a handful of female npcs frank can romance. IE, stop a girl from being assaulted at a bar and she and frank will hit it off. She'll have a few "date" side missions, which could add a humorous side to Frank since he's so quiet and not known for his social skills. Also, the morality system will tie into this. If a dateable npc sees you be too violent or your morality is too low, she'll be petrified of you and permanently cut you off
Mini activities. Bars will be open for frank to drink, darts and play pool. He can also go to the shooting range for practice (the owner of the range could be an old marine he used to tour with)

I'd honestly love a punisher game. A little military flashback here and there with his wife and kids. I'd kinda love to see his punisher origin where you're trying to save his kids but you couldn't. Kinda giving you a feeling of dread before throwing you into it as to whoever did it in that story.
Have a mission where he was in the war and than after that he is and his wife, son and daughter, were killed by the mob and he is on a mission through Central Park to kill all of them and that’s how he became the punisher. Also another mission would be when Frank’s wife’s family mourns him and they were murdered by a different gang. And he takes punishment on both mobs.

Fun fact their was supposed to be a Punisher 2 game (the 2004 one) and it was supposed to be a open world gta type game, but sadly their Marvel license ran out, then it turned into saints row 2, I would recommend looking up some videos about it.

There are plenty of Superhero games that people want to have multiple endings where you chose what kind of hero you want them to be and that sort of thing, but that would work far better with an anti-hero like Frank than someone like Spider-Man who is more clearly way over in the clear cut true hero area of things.

I think this van could be like a portable base, much like in Days Gone - the place where you can swap weapons, where you can store prisoners or trophies, maybe like on your windshield or so... could be a cool concept for a Punisher character who´s also on the run from the authorities so I doubt he´d have like a barn to stay in for long or so...
Also, as you mentioned, you could perhaps learn new skills from the PTSD and from his memories of the war, like maybe these memories were suppressed by him and now need to be brought back for the revenge he´s carrying out which also shows the tragedy of his character... (this is a similar mechanic like in the Fallen Order but with different dramatic connotations)

I think your reasoning for the Marvel/DC concepts are easily managed once a studio gets the licence; because once you buy the rights you then say you're going to crowd fund it. Then either the company has to get over their crap and pay you or they'll get to see the fan loyalty to these smaller characters in a way that allows them to learn how much to invest in the future.
As for a Punisher game; I'd actually do something odd and kinda weird and also make it a Daredevil game. Each one with a separate campaign that builds until the other hero is the penultimate boss. Depending on which you play first I'd even have things like the torture play into Matt's views on Frank and Matt's level of good defenses influence Frank's view on him. Now I don't know if that's feasible but I would love it.
We need a Punisher game for sure! I'd say make it where you go to certain neighborhoods in NYC that you can free roam in and take out criminals and you can travel between the different areas.

I think volition and a publisher (maybe Capcom or Square Enix), should make another punisher game like how the former did the 2005 game. I would like it to be a sequel to the 2005 one if volition were developing it. Plus Volition did Saints Row and it’s a gta sandbox so why not? Use the interrogation system from the 2005 Thomas Jane one, but make it more brutal and have an honor system like Red Dead Redemption. Have you drive the battle van around the city in a open world to stop random crimes in a True Crime style. Have Boss battles such as The Russian, Bushwacker, Kingpin, Bullseye, The Jackal, etc in each chapter. Have Punisher meet Daredevil, Black Widow, and Spider-Man. And for daredevil as when as Matt Murdoch, Frank Castle was framed for killing innocents and tries to prove his innocence for what happened in the 2005 events. Borrow Elements from the 2005 game and I agree with him having PTSD, basically using flashbacks from the 2005 as ideas, but add more to it. Customize more weapon details. Have Punisher make choices such as letting certain people live or die. If Frank castle were to steal vehicles, it can just be influenced by the True Crime series and Sleeping Dogs. I would like if Thomas Jane returned to voice him again as the sequel to the 2005 game. And basically did another sequel to what happened after the 2004 film in game form. If Joan was to return, I wouldn’t mind if Rebecca Romeign-Stamos reprised her role. And Ben Foster as Spacker Dave. Have missions when Frank was in the military seeing innocents and his own soldiers being killed and tortured. Have some actors that played certain characters from previous marvel media play those characters.

You could do it like watchdogs or red dead 2 with the honour rating, I'd have it as 2 different mechanics, what people in the world KNOW that you do and what you actually do. EG you save or try to save a guy from being robbed but end up killing him by accident, if there's no one around to see it, no one knows you did it, people still hold you as a vigilante, but you know you did it, so that fucks with frank's head, the more innocents you kill by accident or otherwise the more Frank just goes fucking insane and convinces himself he's still the good guy even though you blew up a fucking apartment block full of people to get to one pimp.
I'd like a punisher game that's similar to hitman meets assassin's creed. Have him preparing and sneaking around listening to conversations to get clues to save people and setting up traps and stuff. Then bam go in guns blazing tapping into phoned. Have interesting tech

the knife and character movements in GTA are just to slow in my mind for a punisher game.
i think the game should play more like Max Payne with the Guns (fast firing, you can slow down time and he can jump to the sides with them, he can also use john wick gunfu)
the melee weapons would play like in DMC (where you can do combos with each of them, and also executions)
i'd keep the torture system, but change it so its like the interrogations in MGS3 (where you can knockout or kill the enemies) i'd also make it similar to the Thomas Jane game, where you have a variety of torture methods from mission to mission

Sadly the Deadpool's videogame hadn't success. It is a shame, but that could made developers sceptical to invest on "secondary" superheros (or in this case antihero).
For me The Punisher's 90's beat'em up and the 2004's game are some of the best hero games out there. And I'd love to have another one.

I think it’d be made like this. Free roam only at night (when crime is up and not a lot of civilians are out kinda like the Arkham games) where you can drive around in the franks van and you’ll come across some random crime activities and you’ll also be able to go to the back of the van and choose which weapons you take (kinda like mafia 3) and then whenever you do a main mission (maybe some side missions as well) it’ll be like the old game with a linear level and special interrogations. I think it’ll be important to have gameplay similar to the old with a cover based system. the only issue I see with a punisher game is gore and violence and nowadays their aren’t a lot of studios who have the balls to try and make a game like that. Even rockstar, I feel have toned down their violence in games over the years.

Believe it or not, gta onlines many different features with gameplay and customization is very inspiring for stuff like heroes, villains, and anti-heroes since you could basically (as seen in the video) be punisher or the joker or a lot of stuff which is fun with imaginative thinking but the only downside is the cost to get what you want/need.

Get the basic ideas from GTA. the gunplay from Ghost Recon Wild Lands, the weapons customization from MW and a more basic, brutal and slow version of the Arkham hand to hand combat

I think that a game that's framed more in the light of FARCRY 5, especially the very open world and extent of ways you can kill your enemies is a better idea than the GTA mold. The idea of having a bunch of enemies just roaming around is also a good translation from FARCRY. There are several ways to just annihilate your enemies in the FARCRY games that just scream PUNISHER to me.

What you got into at the end about these companies taking risks is something that's bothered me for awhile now. Yes it might be safe to stick to a few sure hits in the mean time but it won't last forever and compared to what they'd make if broadening their scope in games worked it honestly seems foolish. Especially for DC considering they'll be playing catch up with the MCU for the foreseeable future but have a real chance to be well ahead of them in games. I'm not saying they should immediately jump to as many games as they can feasibly make but I think starting their own studios and seeing how a few other characters would do would be a smart move.
By the way if you're keeping up with Marvel characters for this these l'd love one for Moon Knight but with a focus on how it could be different from the Arkham series. He does have moon themed versions of a lot of the same tools but one key difference is the melee weapons which Batman doesn't generally use. There's the spiked cestus which are pretty brutal and these awesome transforming truncheons. They've turned into nunchaku, a Bo staff, serve as his grappling hook (which he also uses as a weapon sometimes), and I'm sure there are other modifications I'm not thinking of. Switching between those on the fly sounds like it'd be pretty fun and with a different combat system I don't think it'd be like Arkham at all.
I don't know how much of character the character you've read but if you or anyone wants to get into Moon Knight I can't recommend the original series and the stories in Hulk Magazine that lead up to it enough. There were other great runs by Charlie Huston, Warren Ellis, and Jeff Lemire but honestly most Moon Knight comics are at least good just stay away from the series by Bendis and recently by Max Bemis.

How can they make an amazing Punisher game:
1. Add a brutal cinematic h2h combat (Similar like Uncharted 4 or TLOU)
2. Fast pacing shooting mechanics with bullet-time and different set pieces (more or less like Max Payne and Uncharted series)
3. Add interrogations and stealth section
4. Add boss battles (Barracuda, The Russian, Bushwacker, Jigsaw, Kingpin)
5. Let it be story driven third person linear game, not a garbage snooze fest open world.

Marvel really needs more games besides just the traditional mcu characters. A single player punisher game with an original story would be good. A dark story, cameos from daredevil or Spider-Man, customizable guns and armor, skill points and upgrades. Some stealth mechanics for infiltration.
