While I understand your trait limitations in a vanilla run, I can't help but definitively feel you missed "Slow learner", "Unruly" (the hair alone demands this trait) and, horrifyingly, "Rapid Breeder". Also, I like to imagine the Boris Fanatic purifier invasions to be legions of Boris Johnson deployed to the planet to waffle nonsense, even as they're gunned down, until the planet defenders and populations simply decide they can no longer stand living in such a dystopian hellscape of a Universe.

Fanatic purifier clone army, I knew it wasn't efficient but to me it made the most logical sense to explain a clone civilization, that or scion but been there done that and it's never fun to run into your own custom scion in a playthrough since taking their turf will upset the fe overlords - granting them in a sense diplomatic immunity from war over large land claims.
I stayed as clones because I wanted as many navy boosts as possible. Surprisingly turned out pretty well, expansion wasn't a priority with what I was doing either so I got to take advantage of tech rushing with no penalties for once which was nice for awhile. And with so many navy bonuses I didn't need a particularly large navy to be scary.

Is there a way I can back-level my game to circa 3.6? The new patch broke all my builds and has a bunch of new "features" that I don't at all enjoy. The leader cap is particularly problematic.

Hey Montu just saying im pretty sure Battleships with a titan is better for damage output and just better overall if half of the battleships in each of your battleship fleets are carriers, just a tip if its usefull.
As far as I'm aware it depends on the target, as carriers are very good against corvettes, but other loadouts might be better against other ship types. This said, the AI usually always fields mixed fleets, so having half of your battleships being carriers should improve the combat efficiency

Yes. Steam, right click the game in the list, 'properties', then 'betas', then click the dropdown and pick an earlier version.
Even with the clone vats at full tilt, it still won't be more than the reproduction rate of the real Boris Johnson.
