Dominion Road is one of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s go to spots to experience traditional cuisines from all around the world.
Today we’re going behind the scenes of a Dominion Rd stalwart, Ras Vatika which has been dishing up homestyle Indian snacks and meals for over 20 years. We discover a restaurant specialising in Hunan cuisine from southern China and dive into the region’s most famous dishes like stinky tofu and braised pork belly before taking you into the kitchen of a wood fired pizza joint for some delicious Neapolitan style pizza. We’re hunting down Auckland’s best eats, hit subscribe and get ready for some mouthwatering food.

What we ate and where we ate it:
1. Dahi puri, Mysore dosa and Ras-Vatika thali (medium) at Ras Vatika Indian Vegetarian Cafe, 596 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1041. Open Tuesday to Sunday 11:30am to 8:30pm.
2. Stinky tofu, red braised pork and stir fried smoked pork and radish at Hunan Restaurant, 710 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1041. Open 7 days 11:30am to 10:00pm.

Ahh, your video dropped just as I finished my dinner! It dawned on me that I've never had any truly authentic Indian food. It all looks so good, and complex. in their ecookbook ( link in bio) you will find a super easy recipe for indian butter chicken. you will love it. we've made it like 20 times since we bought the book.
i have a jar pre-prepared with the mixt of spices and just use it when i need it :) the recipe it's a grill. but i've made the meat in the oven a couple of times and it worked the same.

Hi Jaci! Hope your week is going well mate. We have been lucky enough to have gotten vaccinated as we were a close contact with a border worker. We are able to leave NZ but the only thing is it would be difficult to return as we’d have to quarantine which costs a bomb and is also booked out for months 😝 what are things like where you are? I’m in CA in the USA so I too have been vaccinated but we have unfortunately been enduring another horrible wave of this disease. It’s the fourth and the worst yet. I can travel with testing but I’ve stuck to the states and only done it twice in all this time just to keep everyone as safe as possible. My week should be great. Australia we now have to have a special covid test to come to NZ that has to be done by specially authorised pathology labs and it it costs plenty , in my case
A$170.00 , some others in big cities will pay A$270.00 , so someone is making some quick easy money , just letting you know whats going on and also NZ has locked us out for another about 6 weeks . I want to be in front of your guys before xmas having some lovely food to eat .cheers Alister in Australia .
I knew we had been locked out of NZ but l have not heard that we now require a PCR test to visit!! That sucks (noted it came in as of 11th July) l suppose NZ is just doing what every other Country in the world is doing requesting a negative PCR👍

well I'am prepared to jump some walls to get to Auckland, the big problem is going to be which airport to leave from , Melbourne or Adelaide , we are currently locked out of Adelaide and I'am living at the halfway point between the two, so i will have wait and see what happens . The main thing is this DELTA variant of covid is so aggressive that we have kids under 10 getting the virus . So we are between a rock and a hard place at the moment , cheers Alister.

you have a lot of cases in Auckland and it has all come from Sydney, thats how we got it in Victoria. I lived in Sydney from 1970 until 1980 and it is so ethernic they dont care and they wont stay at home so they just keep spreading the virus. I love you vlogs and have been watching for a while. There is one thing that I can't stand is how you pronounce all the non English words 'funny'. It's not an English pronunciation but it's also not true native pronunciation. Just a small thing that gives me a tad cringe. But otherwise, love the videos.
