- Join us on our first night in Osaka, Japan! There's so many eating options here, the difficult part was to pick a couple places to start our foodie adventure. Also, we flew on Japan Air Lines for the first time and we'll show you what we were served in Main Cabin.

I had those pancakes many times with boiled eggs and yogurt for breakfast last fall. A cheap and filling way to start the day. Now I want to go back to Japan just for them.

We must have missed each other. We just got back the other day from Osaka, and we also flew JAL-787-9. We had the same food going, but coming back was quite different. Also, we stayed near the train station-APA hotel-and the rooms are about the same size (compact). Enjoy the rest of your stay in Osaka.

Thanks Beverly! The street food areas can get a bit messy as the night goes on, but the city workers do a good job cleaning everything in the morning. We show a little of that on the last upcoming video.

Just a note about Japanese etiquette. The towel you get before a meal is called "oshibori" and it is only for wiping your hands. Do not wipe your face or neck, especially if youʻre in a restaurant! The hotel looks very convenient and with the free amenities, it seems well worth the cost. I know the exchange rate has a lot to do with the bargains for Americans in Japan now. Looking forward to tomorrowʻs adventure and good eats in Osaka!

Going to Japan for the first time in August seeing Tokyo then the countryside with family that lives there, any suggestions for the long flights?
Bring your own headphones (standard 1/8" jack), the ones provided are pretty bad. lol. Bring some cheap disposable slippers to wear, you'll thank us later. And, we basically nap on the plane when we feel like it. Have a great time!
Those takoyaki are as hot as the molten sun! You have to try okonomiyaki in Osaka.

To Japan however I get overwhelmed with planning for a family of 6. This video helped!
That would be a bit challenging, especially if you little ones. Maybe consider a tour group (travel agent) where they take care of your transportation, some meals, and entertainment/tours?
next time you fly JAL try their skytime peach&grape drink. it has a very unique taste. u can’t buy it anywhere. u can only get it when u fly with JAL.

Doesn't seem to affect us too bad, usually recover in a day. Guess we're professional jet laggers. lol

Thanks Valerie! Where we were staying, Dontonbori, is a major foodie scene and is always crowded, especially towards the evening. Other places in Osaka can be pretty mellow. Yes on the flying benefits. =)

We've had personal experience (mostly) on Delta and this one time on Japan Airlines. Received great service on both carriers. Tokyo Disneyland is great! You'll have a fun time!
How exciting! I love how I never know where you'll be next! On a side note, we are hoping to visit SoCal this summer, do you have recommendations on things to do/places to eat? I know you cover a lot of them, perhaps a couple "can't miss" places?

I was in Kyoto 3 weeks ago, and it was wall-to-wall tourists. Japan has a record number of tourists, so we waited for everything. I think it's due to the weak Yen. That's why ramen is $6. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Thankfully our wait times at restaurants were nothing to less than 5 mins (from the entire trip, not just in this video). Helped that we looked for less crowded places. lol
That’s a lot of decent food for Coach.
