Storyline:
Unique among Bonanza episodes, "The Companeros" does not feature any of the series' top-billed stars, but instead focuses exclusively on Ben Cartwright's nephew Will, played by Guy Williams. Guest-star Frank Silvera is cast as freedom fighter Mateo Ibara, who hopes to enlist his old friend Will's support in helping Benito Juarez assume the presidency of Mexico. Guy Williams will always be El Zorro. When I was a kid I always watched him Don Diego de la Vega, his servant Bernardo and who can forget Sergeant Garcia. Those were the days. Most of the times my dad would be watching too. Thank you Dad for everything you did for us. Miss you still.

The script writers and the so very attractive tall dark and handsome gentlemen in this Bonanza series are definitely worth the watch every moment, every episode. And this one the subtle agreements, and the heat of the struggle knowing and yet resisting what's in their hearts, and then acknowledging it and feeling good about your patience, standing for whats right, beautiful.

Awww no Adam no Hoss couldn't watch with any joy i could never watch an episode without Adam when i was a child i would cry today i still can't enjoy an episode without him just isn't the same.💔

We all differ. He was very handsome but hated the show and it showed. The writers matured after he left and there were some very fine episodes.
I love the fact that the writer was historically accurate. The Ybarras are a prominent family in Texas who used to own land from California to Texas. The land was taken but they still own a lot of land in Texas by the king ranch which used to be owned by the de la Garza family

Wow very interesting. I wish that the Garza family still owned all of their original land from California to Texas. It’s only a matter of time when the US will take more land that used to be México if it is finds any valuable resources they want (gold, oil ect.). Then find any excuse to either invade the land or control and pay off the head politicians into giving up the land. Just like it’s being done in Hawaiian lands that are slowly being taken from the natives.
It always good when a movie or T.V.series is historically accurate, but it so rare Nowadays. Here are some obvious examples, 1) John Wilkes Booth and Billy the Kid lived to a ripe old age 2)Davy Crockett and two other Alamo heroes, did not die in the alamo,, they ran and were executed nearby.So why not tell the truth about history?It because if they tell or admit the truth their pride would be dealt a blow that they couldn't stand.
@@edwardaguirre3503 La verdad compa. Bonanza in general, though, was inaccurate to the point of absurd. The show, and Hollywood conflated Spanish and Mexicano, being thought the same. For example, Bonnaza really got it wrong about the Comancheros. Plus the insipid accents. Not to mention los indios. Oh well, asi es eh...

I like Guy Williams. I wish he had stayed longer.
Guy Williams appeared in five episodes towards the end of the fifth season as Ben's nephew, Will. Pernell Roberts wanted to leave the show and Williams was set to become a full time cast member in the sixth season. Still his performance on Lost in Space is truly the best.
Williams also played "Zorro" for Disney in a long running series. He had the same mustache but shaved it off for

Originally when Guy Williams was written into the show in the 1963-64 season as cousin Will Cartright, it was rumored that Pernell Roberts was going to leave at the end of the season and Williams was to replace Roberts. However, Williams was written out of the show in the episode 167"Triangle", when Roberts agreed to do one more season, season 6, 1964-65 season . The tragedy is Roberts was never happy doing the show from day one. He thought it was beneath his acting talents. It worked out for Williams who would go on to play John Robinson in "Lost In Space."
Well…. beneath his acting talents…it wasn’t really that. It was issues with the writing team. And them promising one thing and doing another.

I think the show would have been better if Adam left like he wanted to do for at least 2-3 seasons. Will (Guy Williams) brought some good energy to the program.
While we now understand why Pernell wanted out, most of us were just kids back then, and didn't want him to leave, and many 'Adam fans' stopped watching the show after he had left. Also - if you don't think his character was popular ? Whenever DVD sets have come out for this series ? The DVD sales really drop off the season AFTER Adam left. Just saying.
@@voiceofreason7856 bonanza was a good show post Adam, but it went on far too long. I still think the show should have only went 6 years at the most. The orginal concept is what worked best and even candy wasn't a effective replacement. Candy couldn't lead a episode like Adam. Season 1-6 is in my opinion the true bonanza. Everything else was a diffrent show. 7-9 had the same flavor as 1-6 but not as great.

Enjoyable script provides for a different twist away from the typical corrupt Ponderosa crew shenanigans. Old man Cartwright certainly was a nosy bastard asking about Mateo's drinking habits. If Mateo's moderate drinking bothered him so much, he (the clan's white-haired weasel) should have confronted Mateo to his face. Another example of Cartwright cowardice. Another fine upload Grjngo.

Hmm...curioso episode. The Peinita, the señora's reddish hair comb, were worn by 19th century Spanish women, not Mexicanas. Hollywood of those days confused Spanish and Mexican cultures, even seen as the same. So, on Bonanza, you see people wearing Spanish style costumes, when concerning anything Mexican. Oh, Mexicanos didn't say Ole, that was said by people in Spain. The soundtrack always played Spanish style music, when the story was about Mexican. So, curioso....Guy Williams was a very under rated actor, and Hollywood treated him badly. He loved Argentina, moved and died there. Hollywood.
What does it matter... this woman says "Güiermo" with diéresis, speaks horrible Spanish (conjugations, etc.)... it's just a show, and in the 60s-70s they weren't that picky (not in the 80s-90s either).
