  • TEAM TALK: THE BIGGEST MARINE INDUSTRY CONSPIRACY EVER!!! (ARE THEY LYING???)
    Have they been lying this whole time? What's the deal? Why can boat builders get a near unlimited supply of outboards when us small guys get told over and over by our reps that there just aren't any outboards available! This needs to stop! Let's demand better from our manufacturers or atleast demand the truth! Comment below on if you were upsold into a new rig when all you wanted was to repower.

    I will say in 2020 I ordered a 2021 alumacraft trophy 185 with Yamaha motors drive and kicker big dealer boat came in with no motors and they couldn't get them I waited 3 months and then got my deposit back on the whole deal kept my old boat then finally bought a 2022 that was on the floor with mercury motors

    About a month ago Ford executive stated on video that they are purposely slowing production to keep the price of their vehicles artificially high. Keep supply low to keep demand high.
    It will be a cold day in hell before I buy a Ford. What you pointed out is happening everywhere.
    Well spoken Sir.

    Andy you are absolutely correct! I shared this video with a friend of mine who is a mercury dealer and this is what he sent me back.

      I was thinking the same thing. In my estimation what they did was a sound strategy. If you want to blame people, don't blame the boat motor companies; blame the lockdown fanatics. Lockdowns killed our economy not the bad flu.

    Hey Andy, I'm the guy from Texas that called you about re-powering 3 months ago, in which you stated it would take 6+ months to get a motor. You said it would be easier for me to call dealers and ask if they would sell me one and ship it to you for mounting. Wellllll, I called 8 dealers and NOT 1 had a motor, that wasn't already mounted to a NEW boat, to sell.
    This BS the motor manufacturers and mega dealers are pulling on us is an absolute crock of 💩!!!

  • @yankeebass1
    @yankeebass1 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I agree. Had a buddy who's rebuilt merc 200 died on us during a tournament last spring. He looked into a new 200 Merc to put on his Nitro and could not find anywhere. Finally one dealer said hey we will just pull one off of this pontoon boat we just got in. Got him a new motor and when he picked it up the sales guy said they ordered a motor for there floor model pontoon they took his motor on and it came in that morning. But they couldn't order one for him to replace because they were told 6 months to get one in. the dealer called the pontoon manufacture and they sent them one to replace the motor. funny how that works.

    I’m in my early twenties, been fishing out of a 16ft aluminum boat with a 50hp for 4-5 years that I bought for $1500. Got a decent job getting close to the point I wanna do an upgrade and get into something different. But in this market it’s impossible to find something reasonable. Saving money hopefully I can stay stable when everything crashes and buy a nice phoenix from a bank lol.

    • @joemichels4530
      @joemichels4530 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not there yet. When you hear about companies laying off the type of people who fish, boat deals will be around a few months later. So far, high-tech, HR, and banker workers are getting the axe. But if you follow the hidden news, people are not buying cars and trucks. That means the workers will soon have their hours cut or sent home. Boat payments will come after food, shelter, and transportation. It's coming; save your money and keep your job!

    I work for a small marina in upstate ny and can honestly say I’ve been saying the same thing for the last three years . We are selling boats with brand new mercurys on them but yet when a customer comes in to try and buy a simple 9.9 to use as a kicker motor on his salmon rig we can’t get one . I’ve had to convert at least 3 tiller motors we had in boxes to remote for these boats at an additional cost of about $1000 . Preach on Brother you’re right ! If you want o do another video on this subject I’d be happy to fly out to Wisconsin and back you up 100%!

  • @marknewton1747
    @marknewton1747 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Floor plan is the Key to this. Motor builders teamed with boat builders because they could get their money from dealers. I saw this in the mid to late 80’s. Major boat builders required dealers to take a quantity of boats and huge floor plans payments. Mariner was about the only way that you could get small outboards.
    Pencil pushes and folks that never wet a hook are what are driving this.

    Andy RIGHT ON....I been interested in repowering my Ranger 520 with a Mercury 225 Pro XS 4 stroke. Last 2 years I've been getting delivery dates of 9-18-month deliveries with $500-$2000 dollars down. One dealer even said half down. I'm not giving anyone $2000 down on something I not going to receive for 9-12 months. I will run my 2002 Mercury Optimax till it dies, then I'll make my decision. It will not be a new boat for $80,000.... probably a rebuild. Thanks for what you do.

  • @tommypv2
    @tommypv2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was out of the water for 6 months because my motor blew and NONE of the local dealers would work on it (200 Merc EFI) it’s too old they said. They can’t get parts and don’t want to bother with older motors. They mentioned that they have new boats in stock that I could trade in my boat. At $70K minimum, I couldn’t afford it without selling everything I had and going into debt.
    Had to find a mechanic 100 miles away to work on it, then we had to scour the used motor market for 3 months before we found a suitable powerhead from a reputable used motor dealer.

    1980’s Yamaha was really not well known in Louisiana. What got them in the market is going to service centers and selling motors to people who repower or bought boat looked for motor. Cheaper, came with prop (Mercury & OMC did not) and fuel tank. They were $500 cheaper. Then oilfield companies and commercial fishermen put them on their boats. Then we had local aluminum boat builders who went from OMC & Mercury to Yamaha. All of a sudden Yamaha became a player.
    Local small guy that had a shop and sold engines made Yamaha and got them in the market dominated by OMC & Brunswick Marine (Mercury/Mariner/force).

You are so right I bought a 2017 SeaArk 2072 VXF with a 2013 Suzuki 115hp motor in 2021 was told I would still have a full warranty cuz the motor had less than 20 hrs so after I took delivery they told me that Suzuki would not be able honor the warranty. It took 5 months and ton of phone calls and emails with the dealer/ manufacturer. I was able to get a new 2022 Suzuki 115 from SeaArk shipped to a really good small dealer near me in Indiana. The dealer said they can't get any Suzuki motors and couldn't believe that I was able to get one.

    Andy, you hit the nail right on the head. We are a smaller dealership and the companies take our money for school, service manuals, and online ordering and parts catalogs but then when you need a motor in March it’s wait until December which you won’t get by then. I was waiting over two years for a stainless prop and canceled it. We are getting it in the butt and when the rep tells you to save money and quit being a dealer and buy from the big dealers, what a kick in the ass. I have been in retail since 1987 and it is a total s#$t show. I’m with you, just doing service and let the big dealers eat the turds.

    100% I’ve been on the hunt for a 175 to re power my ranger 692 and it has been SLIM pickins, let alone the motors you do find are jacked up in price it seems to me.

    I didnt have any issues getting a 9.9 tohatsu in 2021. I had a hell of a time getting a 20hp tohatsu computer though. Keep on grinding! I think the entire bass boat industry is screwed. $100k plus for boat motor trailer. When do we get to a point when enough is enough.

    Yet again, shoutout to team marine and Andy for keeping it real an telling it how it is!!! Mercury and Yamaha should be ashamed of themselves if that’s the kinda deal they made behind closed doors with the big boys. Shit on the consumer an take care of your buddies, shits crazy.

    My local dealer is Watson's Marine in bluff city tn. Last year every new boat in the showroom had the lower unit off,I suppose they sold them.

    So true, but my dealer Anchor Boats was honest and the best! Customer first and they will last through all this craziness.

    Outstanding video! I am in supply chain and work to get “chips” everyday. Shit is still bad and the manufacturers make up what ever rules they want. Lots of horse shit going on!
