    Great video and great taste test. That does look like a Pinkerton but I agree it does look small. Thanks for sharing!

      It tasted good, but I guess I'm probably a little more curious about what type of avocado it actually is.

    Thanks for the taste review. I like how you do a peel test also. What stood out to me was how clear your video was and the cool alternating focus. Also nice slow zoom and side pan effects. I'm too lazy to add those to my vids lol. What camera are you using?

      I try sometimes but really do the lazy man vlog more often. Canon 5d when I'm not lazy, pixel 6 pro everything else. Your videos are good, steady hand and very well presented, I don't get dizzy watching it so it's all good 😂. Try to stay warm out there, hopefully everything makes it through.

    Good review, my baby Pinkerton, 1 1/2year old grew 10 feet last year, and now is loaded with blossoms and some BB sized fruits. This warm winter has allowed the bees to be out more, my young !amb is about to blossom too...hope we don't get any late frosts. Thx again for the videos.

      That's great, I'm sure it's not luck with your Pinkerton, you're probably taking really good care of them. We have flowers on different avocados and some that are starting to look like it will soon, I'm optimistic for this year. Thanks for watching!

      Hey Bert, thanks for being a part of the journey. My gem avocado is starting to form buds also. I'm glad you got the flower girl and it's going to be interesting to see how yours does compared to mine.

      @@AvocadoTalk At the rate your trees are growing with your care you will be there in no time. By the way, speaking of Fuerte I am currently experimenting with a Fuerte/Hass cross I call Lamorinda. If I goes well I would be happy to share the wood someday once I have a good supply of budwood to share that is.

    Hi thank you for the time you put to make this video I just plante a fuerte avocado tree what fertilizer do you recommend I live in ca on the northern area and thank you for your time

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robert, I would recommend a balanced fertilizer and brokaw nurseries recommends fertilizing once a month for the first year. Then the second year every 2 months. Since it is a young tree, I recommend you protect it to make sure the roots builds and once the roots are nice and strong, you should have it easier. I currently use a organic fertilizer but the bag of citrus, mango and avocado fertilizer at the home Depot will work just fine. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    I dont know about the oxidation but I thought the Pinkertons usually have a smaller seed?

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, when I picked them up, I asked if they were really Pinkerton and they said yes. I don't think it's a Pinkerton. The seed is supposed to be smaller and more round like a marble, this is kinda Acorn shaped. Nonetheless it tasted good. Thanks for watching!

  • @louiepierce1692
    @louiepierce1692 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If that is a Pinkerton it’s very small. My Pinkertons is twice that size, the seeds are small. Taste wise, Pinkerton, Fuerte, Sir Prize are all excellent and surpass Hass in flavor, imho.

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought it looked a little too small plus the seed didn't look right. Considering reaching out to them out of curiosity. Thanks for watching!

    It looks like a bacon, Jim bacon? Pinkerton has bumpy thick skin, much larger and smaller seed

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember questioning them if they were sure it's a Pinkerton but she wasn't sure. They bought the house with the tree already there. It's not a Bacon, I have bacon and remember it tasted different. Hope your trees are doing good. Thanks for watching!

    it doesn't really look like pinkerton.. Pinkerton seed is small and the peel is really rough and thick.

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, they called it a Pinkerton but I think it might be something else. It was tasty though. I know you like Kona, what else are your favorites?

      @@AvocadoTalk hello my friend. Sharwil and Hass and Reed are my top 3 in no particular order. Nabal and Gwen probably 4 and 5.
      There's some other nice ones out there but those are the ones that have overall a lot of good qualities combined.
      A lot avocados have some issue with the growth or the tree or fruit have some flaws. Maybe they taste good but grow poorly or some other kind of bad qualities.
      Pinkerton for instance can be really excellent. But it also has some issues with ripening and ripening times. And the tree doesn't have a great growth habit. A good well ripened and softened fruit does have an excellent taste though.

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bradspaugh9827 very insightful, that's great you aren't having issues with Sharwil and Nabal. I was struggling but attributed it to a crappy rootstock. I now have one each from Brokaw and am optimistic I'll get fruit in the future.

    • @bradspaugh9827
      @bradspaugh9827 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AvocadoTalk nabals grow like a weed here. Sharwil is a slower grower and can need staking, the tree shape and growth habit are not great but thats the main downside to it. On the other hand it stays smaller so in the long run thats not so bad.
      I have noticed growing your own rootstocks in ground and grafting them work a lot better than buying nursery trees. The nursery trees usually are a bit weak and staked up and then get shocked when transplanting. Its smoother if you grow zutano seeds in the ground for a year or 2 and top work.

      They were both delicious. I got a Zutano from them last week and now ripe, I'd have to say that Zutano was not as good as Fuerte.
