    Looking forward to your Wurtz taste test. My 5 gal Wurtz was dying of root rot because of bad soil and so much rain last winter, so I repotted in Gary’s TopPot, sprayed with Garden Phos a couple times and tree is now thriving and ready to up pot👍

      Hi Andy, I had a tree that was dying and I did the same thing you did and pot it and Gary's. Best and after a year it made a comeback and now it looks like it might be ready to be put back into the ground. I might just keep it in the pot for another year because it actually got fruit in the pot. Thanks for watching. Stay hydrated!

    True on avocados from other countries. 98% of the time have been not good for me. So I stick with Mexico and definitely California/USA grown. Thanks for the update.

    I love your videos. Especially all the different camera angles (height, trunk size & base) please give more info on the what size pot it was originally in before planting in the ground as well as the years it's been in the ground.

    Good morning REM nice to hear about Wurtz that’s one variety I don’t have. Don’t know enough about it. Luckily I have one lamb tree right now (out of 5 lamb trees) with a heavy crop this season and they are really good right now. For next season 3/5 Lamb trees have a nice amount of fruit forming. The other 2 are too young to set anything. In order to clean the tree out I’m having to eat 2-3 every day and that wil go for quite some time. Good to hear about SC gold. My tree is growing very nicely and was procured from
    Epicenter last year.

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Pat, not sure if you need a little cotta because I've heard that the flavor is not excellent but I'm grown it because I wanted to have a lot of different varieties. I'm hoping my Fuerte makes a comeback here and I can actually get some Fuerte avocados in the future. You're lucky you got avocados ready to be eaten. I'll be there probably next year too so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for watching!

      The more and more I keep learning about the Lamb, the more I’m pleased. For instance tonight, I put a Lamb (actually 3) in my refrigerator 2-3 weeks ago which I was readying for the compost pile. Low & behold I cut it open and 80% of it was still perfectly ok. So that was another pleasing feature. I’m always looking for “bad” features of an avocado, yet for the Lamb, I really haven’t found any. And a lot of pluses. I’ve got a SC Gold in a pot for 18 months that I got at a scion-exchange and I grafted it to a seedling. I’m very curious how it will taste. Same with a Wurtz.

    Your trees are looking good. My little cado is growing well and it's been in the ground about two years, no fruit yet but hopefully next year. Wow the growth on your SC Gold is amazing!! Looking great! Good work!!

      You should get fruit next year from your wurtz for sure. It reminds me how my bacon grew and fruited.
      At this rate on the SC, it will outgrow the Bacon. All good because I like the fruit characteristics more. Hopefully all your fruit holding on well for next year's harvest.

    I have a wurtz planted in 2018 here in hawaii. Last year I harvested about 10 fruit, this year starting around thanksgiving I have harvested 31 fruit. They are very good tasting and are quite large. It bloomed in early Feb. of this year And I am estimating at least 100 avocados on the tree right now. I will probably have to thin later on!! The tree is 6 feet tall but has spread out 8 feet in diameter. My only concern with this tree is the fruits are so low to the ground, the feral pigs can get to them easily. Probably have to install a fence around it. This is a great tree and I have read that it may be both a type A and type B flowers on the same tree which may account for it being so productive.

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Make some bacon or of those feral pigs 😄.
      Mine wurtz is growing nicely too, I got my best production from last spring, great start. We'll see how much they produce this spring. Do you have other avocados? That would be impressive if the wurtz was your only tree and you got that kind of production in Hawaii.

    Very interesting with your Wurtz avocados being so necky. Thought it was a Pinkerton. My Wurtz may be an oddity. It held 36 fruit 2nd year in a 36” box at a whopping 2.5’ in height, lol. They were great. Harvested them from April (little too early) to September (some seed sprouting and fully ripe and more tasty). 3rd year, no flowers/no fruit set. All the energy must have went into the previous year’s fruit set. Seeing flower buds emerge just in the last two weeks. So, it’s acting like an alternate bearer. Thanks for sharing!

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Considering how young my tree is and holding fruit now, I'm happy with it. That would be a great surprise if it is actually a Pinkerton. Pinkerton is excellent tasting from what I remember. Haven't had a wurtz yet so we'll see.
      I'm thinking this coming fruiting season will be massive for all of us.

    I have one Wurtz in the ground and one in a pot. I mainly got them because of the lack of A type avocado trees here. The only local avo that is an A type here is Green Gold; supposedly San Miguel avocado is also an A type but last spring my tree’s flowers were flowering similar to all of my B types…

      Hi Aaron, I agree with you that I think it makes a lot of sense to have multiple varieties in the orchard because having the flowers overlap increases your yield long-term. Hope everything is good with you. Thanks for watching!

      Hi Kim, I'm getting close to year round fruit, hopefully this year. I haven't bought a bag from Costco in a long time, I have learned to be very selective, checking where they originate. If the bag says California avocados then probably ok, more local for me.

    First time watching these videos. By coincidence. ...drinking bourbon & coke too!! I don't have a wurtz or scgold. I have a sir prize, reed, hass & fuerte in my yard. Curious to see what happens. All grafted. ...the sir prize is the oldest & biggest. Hope I get fruit this year. 10 years no fruit? A patient man....unless he grew it from seed. ...then, that's normal. I'm too old for that, lol

      After reading your comment you tempted me and convinced me to also have a whiskey and Coke. For tonight I will be enjoying Blanton's with ice and Coke. Some say drinking Blanton's with Coke is a No-No I say enjoy it however you like.
      As far as avocados, I hope you get fruit on your sir prize. This is the first year that I have a good flower set and I've noticed some fruit but there's no guarantee that they will all stick. Patience is part of the game, but sometimes it's tough. Thanks for watching

      @AvocadoTalk Thanks. Whiskey & coke works! No-no or not. Blanton 's is excellent...coke or not. I've heard that sir prizes are hit or miss. Love & hate. It's looking great right now. So Calif. Yeah, sometimes fruit appears, but the trees drop them. Experienced that with another tree, since removed. I hope your trees 🌳 do well, also. Thanks for the response....and enjoy that adult beverage....

      There might be only one but you have to really baby it during those extreme heat conditions. it's called the Aravaipa avocado. I think epicenter sells them.
      When they are young you have to protect them to allow them to get established but once they get bigger they can handle a lot. What I would do is once the temperature hits 110 I would be out there spraying the trees down to cool them down. Good luck! Thanks for watching!

    • @growyourownavocados
      @growyourownavocados ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We believe Giant is related to Nabal and it produces every year so you can't go wrong there.
      Lamorinda would be good if someone has a Fuerte that doesn't fruit or do well. The flavor is similar, like an oily Mexican type and it produces every year.
      But being that Giants are 2 to 3 pounds I imagine "King" could have been the perfect name too
