  • In this video we go through and upgrade the front brakes including discs and pads on our Ford Ranger. In this day and age of people building some awesome touring vehicles, loading the weight up with added accessories, it’s essential that we also put some thought into upgrading our essential systems such as braking, steering, tyres and suspension to help cope with the extra weight. Mitch shows you how easy it is to do it yourself to help save some cash.
    Remember if you are unsure or not confident make sure to seek out professional advice or assistance before tackling mechanic work on essential safety systems such as braking.

    Good tip. Use the old pad with the clamp to push both back evenly. Awesome video

    Nice. I’d recommend you invest in a torque wrench and loctite/thread locker to give you extra piece of mind that your bolts won’t rattle loose over time, especially over corrugations

    • @BenMitro
      @BenMitro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting suggestion re thread locker - where would you use it? It appeared to me (and based on my experience) the bolts on brakes self weld to some degree in use.
      Yes, torque wrench is a great idea, also car stands!

    • @csv2711
      @csv2711 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BenMitro I’d apply it to bolts of the anchor bracket, or the “brake slide” as he calls it. He also mentions he had to use some elbow grease to undo the bolts… that’s a good indication that they are supposed to be tight

    • @Wanderingaus_adv
      @Wanderingaus_adv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Car stands for sure! Maybe a trolley jack! lol

    Great informative video, however I am curious as to how you released the pistons once recessed. Or does that automatically release once you press the brake?

    • @Wanderingaus_adv
      @Wanderingaus_adv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great Q mate, That’s why you first jump in the drivers seat, you need to turn the car on and pump the brake pedal to build the pressure back up.

    I find its best to use an old brake pad to compresss the brake piston evenly and lift the lid off the brake fluid reservoir

      Yeah good tip! Thanks Greg 👍🏼

      @travelsolo2677 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes , a good idea to get someone to check fluid reservoir so it doesn’t overflow onto paintwork
