    That looks like a fantastic upgrade, just for safety. In my PX1 Ranger, I have a OME GVM 3330kg kit and have been tempted to go the next step to the 3500kg GVM but was worried that this would also require better brakes in the rear. Lots of good upgrade options, just need some time and $. Might have a look at their GVM upgrades as well.

    Be awesome if pedders did a disk conversion for the RC colorado. Brakes are terrible on mine.

    We don't tow, but with a canopy and extreme track this is one of the next mods for our dmax. Next will be an auto tranny cooler

    Does the 2 inch lift from pedders with the upper control arm mod bring the geometry back to factory specs, or are the arms only needed for 3 inch or more?

      I can’t say for sure that their arms will get you back to factory geometry with a 2” lift, because I honestly don’t know!
      But the tech fitting the UCAs said I had a much better alignment afterwards, however they don’t normally bother fitting aftermarket UCAs until you lift your vehicle over 2”.
      I can say for sure that it handles a shit load better at speed now, and I’m expecting to get a bit more travel Offroad.

    Any idea if the pedders cv shafts are just rebadged GSP rubbish? I’ve heard that the pedders cv shafts are stronger then OEM and hoping this is true.

      Funny you say that. I’ve also heard that they’re stronger than OEM, and several of the Pedders employees have said they are. But I havnt been able to find anything concrete online or any specs. So I didn’t want to say they are in the video!
      They make street car drive shafts good for 1400hp which is pretty crazy!

    Two questions
    Were you given a discount on the mods?
    If not what was the cost of just the rear brake upgrade?

    Whilst these upgrades do have their place the elephant in the room will still be there
    If you’re planning on loading this rig with all the nice to haves and towing a van bigger than the one you already have you could easily end up with a bent chassis even though you’re below your upgraded GVM
    The Problem with utes is most of the load is overhung not between the axles as in most trucks
    The air gap between the cab and the canopy results on the chassis doing all the work as opposed to a wagon where the chassis and body take the bending and most of the load is between the axles

    When it comes to high end loads there’s not much on offer in Australia in the Ute department

      I hear you, and I've seen a couple of pictures of bent dual cabs doing the rounds on social media over the years. And I did watch John Cadogans video. Theres no denying physics - combine that design flaw with the dickhead factor, over loading, incorrect loading, poor performing suspension and poor conditions and its a risk factor. Thats probably one of the reasons why second stage manufacturers like Pedders wont fit kits to increase GCM.
      But, in 15 years of owning and travelling extensively in 4wds, I'm yet to come across or speak to anyone that's actually first hand bent a chassis (other than as a result of an accident).
      I mitigate my risk by sticking to my GVM/GCM (which I've travelled at the maximum end of for 10's of thousands of kilometres), fitting good suspension thats rated for the weight I carry (as John explained, one of the biggest risk factors is bouncing an overloaded vehicle along on the bumpstops), putting heavier items over or in front of the rear axle when possible , reducing tyre pressure when need be and driving to conditions.

      Towing my “overloaded “ boat to gnaraloo 10 years ago I hit a cattle grid at speed which had an exposed block of concrete in front of it. I did manage to slow down in time however the boats springs flattened out and I limped into the station discovering others had done the same
      Sometimes you don’t get a chance to slow down enough as holes are filled with dust, I’ve since learned to drive slow so there’s no energy to dissipate

      Yes mate, aftermarket piggy back ecu (ecu=shop cube touch combo). Selectable tunes on the fly for towing (leaner afrs/ more conservative tuning) or power (more fuel).

      Drum to disc is around the 3k mark. But best to contact your local store for a price because they vary a bit being franchises.

    Would you say that this improves handbrake as well. As you may know hilux handbrakes suck.

      If your drums are adjusted correctly then this wouldn’t be any improvement for your handbrake. If that’s your only drama I’d just get your drums looked at 👍🏼

      @@WildTouring thanks mate good to know. The only real solution for Toyota handbrakes are a disc hand brake on the driveshaft behind the transfer. Just thought this upgrade could be another option. I am the discs maintain the sane handbrake mechanism as the vechile.
