- Sorry for the lack of uploads recently, but I'm back! Tackling a challenge run I attempted to do last year and coming back with a vengeance! Today I attempt to beat the very first you kai game with the minimum amount of Yo-kai!

Man I'm so glad that I found out that the Yo-kai Watch fan base still exists here in the west, I grew up watching the anime and is one of my favorite series.

Quick correction for sproink you can actually avoid his soultimate by not attacking his belly button after you put him in a weakened state every attack done there charges his soultimate but attacks done to the head are perfectly fine so on the head and do single target soultimates in order to avoid damage (as you said the head is actually weakened by then too) as for snaggerjag's soultimate he can only do it if he already has two fish and tries to fish again so as long as you stay on top of the fish(as you did) you'll be fine

I love how you said "make sure to evolve Cadin" and it made me realize I'm only YW3 and the only Yokai I've ever evolved was Lie-In for a quest. I didn't know Yokai evolved. -.-

funfact: sprounk can be made much easier by exclusively targetting his head when he falls. this will mean 2 things 1. his soultimate won't charge 2. he will remain stunned much longer
sadly, don't think they ever will localize the 4th game, i'm pretty sure the reason they stopped was financial reasons, so they don't want to spend a whole year or more translating it, just to make back a net loss.
... so we have to put our lives on the line to make it ourselves sadly.

A good piece of advice for Sproink is that as long as you hit only his head when he lies down he won’t be able to use his soultimate.
To make the sproink fight easier, when he leans back and sticks out his belly button, target his head instead. Attacking his belly will cause him to use his soultimate and if you attack his head instead, your yo-kai will be a lot healthier, the fight will be easier, and you can widdle down sproink's health quickly. You deal roughly the same damage to his head as his belly button anyways lol.
This is one of my favorite series, im so glad people still know this games exists
I swear, she´s gonna do a YKW2 run, and she's gonna make demona look hella easy. I remember I spent over a month just trying to clear that boss back when I was younger

Another amazing video! Your challenge runs always go above and beyond, showing off the game's mechanical depth in ways you otherwise wouldn't see. I love the format of walking through the challenge runs like a walkthrough because normally challenge runs feel like a daunting display of skill from someone that dissuades me from trying to do the same while your videos make the idea of self-imposed conditions so much more accessible and exciting!
Also the Sun Tsu bit caught me completely off guard and cracked me up ^w^

I'm glad that Dimmy and Komasan, my 2 favourite Yo-kai, were 2 of the best in this challenge. Dimmy gets heavily overshadowed, and Blandon actually carried me in YKW2
Fun fact: When sproink's weakspot is open, if you target his head rather than his belly, you deal decent damage without him actually charging his soultimate. Obviously though, hitting his weakspot deals the most damage.
You know, I’m pretty sure you could actually get both Mochismo and Dulluma, the fusion quest Yo-kai, at the point where you have to befriend 5 Yo-Kai of your choice so you might’ve been able to get fusion if you didn’t ban it.
I could have but I thought Fusion would make the run too easy
You cant get mochismo at the start of the game because it’s a d rank yo-kai
My idea for a Yo-kai Watch challenge is what I call the "Story Mode Challenge":
Basically, it entails that you can only use Yo-kai that you befriend throughout the main story and through sidequests in battle UNLESS if you are required to get other Yo-kai (like how you need to befriend a certain number of Yo-kai before you can befriend Jibanyan).

You should do a guide on how to 100% Yokai Watch. I haven't seen the game for a long time. I believe they stopped production because Pokemon overshadowed them
Guides aren't really the type of content I make on this channel, and I've never 100%ed the game myself lol. But thanks for the suggestion!
They still make Yo-kai Watch games. This year was the 10th anniversary. Yo-kai Watch TH-camrs still play them and some are working on Yo-kai Watch 4 100% Guides despite the game only being in Japanese. Others are doing Nuzlockes and minimum Yo-kai challenges. The thing is Yo-kai Watch TH-camrs haven't really been getting the spotlight lately

This is one of your funniest videos to date, rhe Sun Tsu bit got me really good. Love the challenge run content, and I really love your approach to them, rather then just doing rules that make the game generically harder, you do ones that actually make you approach the game in a different way then you usually would. Honestly this vid makes me want to try the game, this series definitely seems like somewhat hidden gems of the 3ds Era. Looking forward to what challenge you come up with next!
Wow, I'm amazed, there's a Yo-Kai Watch challenge run, that's really cool.
I've put so much time into my Yo-Kai Watch 2 save file, not just once, but two runs, one I'm still currently doing but have made a lot of progress on the medallion and stuff (the third is being rented out to a sibling), that it's hard to imagine playing it again, but I'd like to try a Yo-Kai Watch Nuzlocke.
I hope you will do this type of challenge for YKW 2, 3 and perhaps even Blasters. It’s always a treat to find new Yo Kai Watch content on TH-cam

One thing I think that made me love this game so much (aside from it just being amazing) is that it's was actually somewhat difficult. It doesn't hold your hand too often and the final boss is actually a final boss that gives you a really hard time
For the Sproink fight, once he's down I would recommend only hitting his head because he won't get his soultimate and you'll still do roughly the same amount of damange.
Now I'm waiting for the YKW2 video!

I made a community post about this, I cancelled the Psychic specters run because of how boring and easy it ended up being, it wouldn't have been an interesting video to watch, there's only so many times I can say "This part of the game is too easy and the boss isn't anything special"
I do plan to make more Yo-Kai Watch content in the future though!
Glad to see yokai watch is still getting some love even after all these years. It may not be the best creature catching franchise, but it holds a special place in my heart.

this game gives me memories, some fond and some not as much (like the dame deadtime fight in the sequel)
I may be 5 months late but this video was really nice to see, i really like it when one of my favorite game series, ykw, gets attention these days, i'd be super happy to see you attempt this challenge on it's sequels too, as i feel like the sheer pile of yokays the game hands you in this particular entry of the series makes it by far the easiest of them all to complete
I actually had to scrap the YKW2 run I was working on because it ended up being significantly easier than the first run, like, by such a wide margin that I outright had very little to talk about outside of the superbosses.
I do plan to make more Yo-Kai Watch content in the future but they wont be challenge runs, if 3 and 4 are as painfully easy as 2 was then I can't make videos on them sadly. There needs to be SOME challenge and 2 just outright refused to give me that until the last hour of the game

Noway is such an invaluable defender. You can get him so early, and once he evolves he's a monster.
This series is so much more than just a Pokemon clone, I love it so much.
I was really hoping to snag a Noway for the run but I could never get him to join the team, plus it made it more difficult so I might avoid any decend defenders when I do this run in YKW2
Man got a random yo-Kai watch video recommended to me. I was old when this game came out and couldn’t help but to make comparisons between it, Pokémon and SMT and found it lacking. Maybe one day I’ll go back and give it a fair shake.
I dont see the SMT comparison at all, but thats completely fair otherwise, and I'd honestly say its miles better than modern pokemon and its not even a contest
@@AstralKat I heard that there was a fusion mechanic and I compared it to SMT’s fusions and I thought it was an inferior version.

for sproink always aim for the head when he doesn't cover it. keeps him from using is soult and makes the fight a cake walk.
Great video, all I gotta say. PLS do the rest of the yo-kai watch games and If you do maybe consider trying EVERY SINGLE BOSS in yo kai watch 2 (physic specters) and 3, maybe even 4 when you get it.

Advice for some early xp, there is noko in the secret byway and noko gives good early game xp. This makes noko good for exp for a good span of the run.

Loved the video! Maybe make a potential sequel a bit longer and talk more about the story or difficult sections? I personally would enjoy if you did that
These runs are more focused on the aspect of beating the game (IE taking down the bosses to complete the main story), if I were to give my opinions on the series as a whole (which I may be considering) then I'd do it in a video that wasnt a challenge run

I love this game so much, i used to play it 24/7 still sad it doesnt have more sequels after 3 😔

Wow, loved this video so much. I do have one question though, how do you know the recommended levels for each boss? I've looked just about everywhere online.
Generally the levels I tried to aim for were a little over what I did in my normal playthrough being as these yo-kai are significantly weaker
though honestly the only bosses you'd really need to grind levels for would be Massiface and Tarountutor, the rest you can just play the game normally and you'll be completely fine. Glad you liked the video!

i recently beat yokai watch 4 with only katie, whisper and jibanyan, nobody else, and i genuinely had the time of my life, it was challenging but in a fun way instead of just lawnmowing everything, maybe i'll try this if i can finally convince myself to open my copy of ykw1 for switch (i'm too sentimental to even open it ToT)

I didn't know maddiman had the hearts you could remove with the pin until i had beaten him *and* his inferno version. It took a real long time
ive beat this game using nothing but E and D rank yokai. the reverseitems are really good, and yokai like Komasan, Jibanyan, Noko, and others are great
Everything when I was young I used to say oh my swirls every time I see or use komasan and today I said it again out of habit
Well, this is a fun surprise, and a funny coincidence. I’ve been a fan of the Yo-Kai Watch series for a long time, and recently I decided to do a challenge run myself, just for the fun of it. And not just any challenge run, but a Professor Oak Challenge run (with a series of exceptions, either regarding too much RNG, or because my 3DS’ camera stopped working). I don’t recommend it, as I’ve spent 8/9 hours trying to get enough EXP for a series of evolutions, though I had the Holy Exporb exploit locked out because of the lack of camera for the Yo-Kai Cam rewards.
But it has still been fun for me. I’m documenting as much of the Yo-Kai available before the major bosses, and appreciating some of the mechanics I took for granted before, such as the traffic lights granting Medium Exp Orbs to help with the grind.

When I was like 9 I got stuck on Dr Maddiman because I didn’t know you could pop the hearts so I brute forced him by befriending Snartle 😭
you could also take homblu because when there is Dismeralda situation you unlock the power of passwords and yokai camera and with it you can get level 39 on cadin then fight homblu and he will ask you to be friend for a strange glitch
I banned passwords and anything relating to gifts, I was literally one of the first rules in the video.
also I was playing on an emulator, using the camera would have been impossible

For the start- couldnt you have gotten snartle as one of the 3 yokai you could choose? I cant remember how but you can get a holy exporb super early, evolve cadin, and kill snartle. And since your first befriend is guranteed...easy s rank.
Correction- I believe you get that from a gift code or by the camera mechanic. I believe it'd go against your Ryle of using free exp items
