    As a miniatures artist who deals in all doll scales, I can say that there can be a lot of grey area when it comes to dolls simply because oftentimes, their bodies are not proportioned properly. Barbie is a great example, with her tiny hands and feet in comparison to the rest of her body. Her hands are more of a 1/8 scale, but her body and head is more 1/6. And then Ken’s hands are huge, so a drink that looks great scalewise for her looks too small for him. There is such a wide range of dolls that fall into each scale category that are really very different in size. An example would be a slim Tonner Tyler doll vs a 1/4 BJD, with much larger head and hands. And 1/3 gets even trickier....for example a smaller BJD SD, like a 54cm-60cm doll, might work with well with certain accessories that would look small in the hands of a 65-70cm doll.

    I have to say I am.impressed with your doll collection. You have a variety of dolls from reasonably priced to priced out. I own over 300 AG and 150 mixed brand of 18/14 inch dolls. You have exposed me to dolls I didn't know existed because I am a quiet doll collector. I also collect Lenox china, figurines, as well as, Christmas. I am thinking of purchasing a Trinketbox, Little Darling and Nikki Britt next year. I have to make peace with the price point first. Thanks so much!

      @MunecasPoupeesDolls  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you so much! I had the same initial shock when I first saw BJDs, it wasn't that I thought they weren't worth it, it was more like I thought it might be financially irresponsible to buy them 😂 Since then I changed careers and it's much easier for me to buy them guiltlessly...but I understand 100% where you are coming from. Luckily most of the artists offer payment plans too, so that helps a lot.
      For me, I really love my inexpensive dolls just as much as my expensive ones. I think next year (I say this every year), I'm going to go back to thrifting more and fixing dolls up instead of buying so many expensive ones....but only time will tell if I stick to it....
      Thanks so much for watching 💜

    I do think that it makes more sense for Quitara to be considered 1/3 because that would make her 5” rather than 6’8”, and since she has a very young face and body type it would just make more sense.

      @MunecasPoupeesDolls  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree, I think I was originally going with 1/4 because the artist calls her a chunky MSD and I just always think of MSD as 1/4, but definitely she is more 1/3 scale. After I made the video I was like I have to add that note in there 😂 thank you for watching 💜

    Hi, you would not believe how helpful I found this. I want to take up miniature dollshouse as a hobbie, and get so confused regarding the scales. So I made some notes from your video.
    My interest is in 1:6. I want to make a room box for Barbie/Blythe with a sofa, hand made. My question is what size should the room box be to accommodate a sofa for this scale, to make it look proportional. Did I explain properly? I hopeless with Maths and numbers in general. Love your content
    Added. I'm going to attempt to make most of the furniture and room box, hence my trepidation

    Quick question, I am buying some furniture for 6 inch BJD dolls, am I buying 1/6 or 1/12 furniture? 1/12 seems kinds small. Barbie is tall but the BJD's are thicker, bigger heads. Which would you choose?

    • @MunecasPoupeesDolls
      @MunecasPoupeesDolls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd go 1/6 - most of my 6 inch dolls are around 1/8 scale so it's better to scale up

    So where would the paola reina dolls fit? Would they be 1/6 of 1/4? What size accessories would look best with them?

    If the doll is a little over 13 inches does that make her 1/4 scale or 1/6 scale?

    Was trying to buy a doll hat for a Paolo Reina Las Amigas doll (will she be able to share it with a Wellie Wisher and a Disney toddler?), and confused about what size to get... googling brought me your video! Thanks for making it! I am still confused probably because of that issue of non-proportionality for Blythe.. The hat sizes are listed as : "for 1/2bjd" and "1/4bjd" and "1/6bjd" and "for Blythe"... should I get the "for Blythe" hat size for Paolo Reina and Wellie wishers? How about sunglasses? Do you happen to know whether Blythe's face size will be similar to Paolo Reina Las Amigas face size or Wellie Wishers for sunglasses??? (should I go with 1/4bjd or should I go with "blythe" size")?

      @MunecasPoupeesDolls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Amigas are closest to Wellie Wishers size... that's the bad thing about proportions when it comes to dolls....they may be on the right height range but the proportions will make things harder. A Paola Reina doll has around an 8" head if I'm remembering correctly, so I would ask the hat maker what size the head is. Blythe's head is around the same size as an American Girl doll so that hat would be too big.

    • @MunecasPoupeesDolls
      @MunecasPoupeesDolls  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The accessories should be fine scale wise but I think they wear AG sized clothesm

    • @EJFulford
      @EJFulford 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MunecasPoupeesDolls Thanks :) I was just curious because they're slimmer than AG by a bit but certainly not the same build as the 1/3 in this video but the accessories, I didn't think about that, that could work :)

    Does anyone know what 1.3cm scale is? I use the metric system but I still have no idea what 1.3cm scale means.
