    What hacks do you use to break bad habits?

      I recognise my mental queue (like how you mentioned "oh I wanna go for a smoke during my lunch break", for example) and I set reminders/alarms for myself every 3-4 hours (or when I get those queues) reminding me to e.g. "Stop checking my feed".
      So, if I know that I check my phone around 11AM and 3PM every day, I set an alarm for those times in order to deliberately NOT do those things and rather do a workout, tidy up a bit, etc.
      Once I'm in that habit, I can de-activate those alarms after about 2 weeks because I will no longer be inclined to check my feed (or whatever it is I don't wanna do) anymore.
      Using tools to help implement good habits can help if you are a person who has a tendency to procrastinate.

      For junk food, I try to imagine how I'll feel a few minutes after eating it. I realize that most of the time that snack won't really fill me up or do anything to satisfy me more than the couple of minutes while I'm eating it. After I eat it, however, I know I'll regret it. Also, remembering all the times I've been frustrated that I haven't lost my baby weight more quickly shames me into skipping that cola or cookie.

    When you're trying to change or eliminate a bad habit- you'll need to change your mindset as well. For example, a long time ago I quit smoking. Immediately I went out for a run and also told myself that I was a runner now and not a smoker. I kept running every day and also kept telling myself runners don't smoke. It worked! I never had another cigarette again or even an urge to smoke. It's been almost 30 years and I'm still running! 😊

    I've been on Keto for 2 yrs. Quitting sugar was crucial for me to get healthy on a number of levels. But, I loved sugar, wanted sugar, needed sugar...wait ...need? No I didn't. Every time I wanted icecream (a huge give up for me), I'd go a little crazy. I found a number of recipes for keto gelato and a product called Halo Top. That's my icecream now...and remarkably...I rarely have that now. I suggest that especially where food is concerned, that you make it yourself from scratch. No box mixes or pre packaged...scratch. There is two things that will happen with this approach. You'll learn to cook (which is a really good thing) and you will re-think every time you want a thoughtless snack. When you make these things yourself...you begin to appreciate the work that goes into your snack, and being human, say to yourself...gee do I want to devote 15 minutes to an hour to accomplish this? If the answer is yeah...go for it. If the answer is no...you aren't hungry my friend...you are bored. Love your channel Gabe...you are awesome, and your ideas are great.

      It's hard for everyone my workout hack is just coming into twice a week for at least 30 minutes it's pretty attainable yet still effective

    Hey! I haven't seen to many of your videos, but must say I loved that one and I'm going to watch much more from now! I think that one of new habit I got lately is to checking my TH-cam channel to often since I started to uploaded some videos...
    Any good advice about it? I feel passion about my new channel, but also feel like I got addicted...

      I do the same thing man. I try only checking at certain times and really focusing on making more content instead of just checking it

    Breaking bad habits isn't about stopping, but substituting. Define the concrete behavior you want to change or develop. Identify the triggers. Deal with the triggers. Develop a substitute plan. Change the larger pattern.

    I know habits have their downsides but to me that is not always the case for example I smoke and I know it is unhealthy but I like it, I like the nicotine and the flavour of the tobacco, I drink (only on weekends unless the occasion calls for it) and the drink on a Friday or Saturday night is rewarding both in the sense of the drink flavour and the alcohol when it hits you, I drink coffee on the morning (literally every morning), I love coffee and I like it strong in terms of flavour and caffeine which I know isn’t exactly healthy but I enjoy it, I take long showers and I have the water hotter than what most people can handle it but I really enjoy it,I eat more meat than I do vegetation which of coarse is not healthy but I love it!
    Habits more than often are a downside but you need to look beyond the habit and it’s downsides, you are her to live life to the fullest and if coffee,tobacco,alcohol or meat an other things makes you feel like you are then do it but so it in a controlled sensible way like drinking alcohol do it by all means but only on the weekends and tobacco but be careful how much you smoke and what you smoke.
    What I’m trying to say is a habit never has a downside if you take it on in a reasonable way.
