I guess different books talk about different years.. In one of the books I read by Dr. N. V. Pranajape it said that the company could revoke the tenure by a notice of 3 years of EIC... If the British interests were not suited.

Thank you for making in notice. The charter can be revoked if company does not do well. Also if crown want to revoke the charter can be revoked with prior notice.

After 1609, the license limitation of 15 yrs was removed but the company reserved the right to revoke their license with notice of 3 years
