Just payed 100 bucks for cover, gasket and grease. Did it 1 hour saved my self alot of trouble with a mechanic 😊 code is gone and car is running like new 😁
I had to replace this on my Cruze at around the 60K mile mark. It was just the beginning of all sorts of problems I had with that car, I finally got rid of it. Great video as always!
Great step-by-step video. I was able to follow your instructions and did my daughter's car. Took about 1 hour to do the job and my daughter states her Cruze runs much better and the check engine light went out. Thanks!

Very good if not great video I'm sure it helped a lot of ppl who wants to turn a few wrenches. Some ppl will find anything to complain about unfortunately..keep the vids coming
Make sure that you tighten the bolts down in the proper order. I know GM gives a pattern on how to do this. If not it has the potential to not tighten down evenly and get leaks
My Chevy Aveo from 2013 with a 1.2 ecotec is misfiring. I replaced the spark plugs not too long ago, but now I see oil on cylinder 1 spark plug. Would the fix here be new spark plugs and then a new valve cover gasket? Great step by step tutorial btw!
How long should I wait to start the car after installing the new cover? I believe the cure time for the gasket maker is 24 hours but I am anxious to see if the dang error codes went away.
I set my torque inch pounds to 71, on the very first bolt it snapped. No idea why? I also can't figure out how to remove the bolt from the OEM valve cover (bought it from Chevy dealership last week). There must be a washer or something as it won't come out. For the bolt in the engine I think I can get a vice scrips on it.
Just did the same thing. We’re you able to remove and put the replacement bolts onto the valve cover while still on the car? Or should I remove the valve cover then replace the bolt.
If you keep having issues with the valve cover assembly. It's the pcv valve that went out in your intake manifold. If that is the case it needs to be replaced.
Ty for this video. It was very helpful. I have a ? about the valve on the rt side of the cover. It sucks in air. It is clogged and forcing air in the oil reservoir dipstick hole. It is causing an incessant noise like a swarm of locusts. Can the valve be cleaned with brake cleaner?
I had a mec replace the coil pack, but couldn't figure out why it didn't idle right. Another mech wants to replace the valve cover. I don't even have a 109 miles on the coil pack. Do I need to replace it?
Is it better to go light on the RTV? In the military they had us go super heavy with it for things that typically wouldn’t be replaced for a long time. (I know military mechanics aren’t the best 😂).
So I have a question. When I started to take off the coil pack 2 of the rubbers got stuck in. And was wondering if I can continue the job or I should just buy a new coil pack
So I'm having this happen with my 2014 cruze, back in March the shop noticed the leak while I had it in there to get my spark plugs changed (I didn't notice), they replaced the seal, within a few days it leaked (out the back of the cover) took it back, they claimed it was a defective gasket and replaced it free, now 4 months later, there's a slight leak again from the front just under the bolt. The weird thing is, it doesn't happen every time, just seems to happen towards the end of my work day. Bad gasket again? or the shop doesn't know what they're doing and keeps installing it wrong?
No ops check? I did everything verbatim. I’ve gone through 3 valve covers and I’m still leaking out of the corner bolt by the exhaust cam sprocket side. Only when engine is under pressure. Why is it leaking out of the bolt hole?
I'm so pissed. I did this a couple months ago and just now realized my gasket has a small bulge out the back I didn't see. Now it's leaking again ffs. Can the gasket be salvaged or is it toast?
This is the second part I’ve had to replace on this car that’s expensive. Toyota pvc valve = $30 golden cruise = $300. Every other manufactures thermostat = $50, Holden cruise = $180. Do you mean 71 foot pounds? I’ve never heard of inch pounds before!
+@MrDon967 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
As long as you tighten each valve bolt down without cranking down on your MR side or the other you should be fine. The torque specs can vary after the cover ages due to it becoming easier to crack and flex. Done it a few times and can say over time you don’t need to crank it down as tight or you will break the entire cover. As long as the seal is installed properly oil should stay. Another good way to kinda clean things up is to run a oil additive through then change the oil again. These engines run for a while don’t get overwhelmed this fix is not at all difficult if you have the right tools. First time I ever did it was on a 302 Ford motor. Trust me this is 10 times easier
Don't use a torque wrench like this guy, he's not holding it by the handle. Torque is the force applied multipled by the distance from the center point of rotation, so he's not torquing them correctly when he's not at the point at the end of the handle at the end the torque wrench where its calibrated at. He also didn't do the correct pattern for tifhtening them, I thought this company verified their info but apparently they just make it up as they go...
Doesn't matter where on the handle you hold it, the closer you are to the edge, the less force you'll need for the same torque but if you get it to click then it's torqued, also why would the pattern matter on a plastic valve cover?

one of the best step by step instructionals I have ever seen. no intro. no bs. straight to the chase.
Just payed 100 bucks for cover, gasket and grease. Did it 1 hour saved my self alot of trouble with a mechanic 😊 code is gone and car is running like new 😁
So mechanics want $1300 to do this & it’s not even an hour long job? I’ll do it myself thank you. Great step by step tutorial
Only problem with doing it yourself is, u can easily mess it up aka gasket problems or u dont put somthing back right
I had to replace this on my Cruze at around the 60K mile mark. It was just the beginning of all sorts of problems I had with that car, I finally got rid of it. Great video as always!

I love all your videos..
Some of your coworkers are great also! I just happen to prefer watching yours..
GREAT WORK!
The best walk through ever!! Thank you. Because I wasn't sure about the torque sequence. Your step by step was perfect.

Thank you for the video. I just did this on my daughter’s 14 sonic. The video helped a lot.
Best video for Cruze manifold gasket change out!
Great instructional video! Thanks for taking your time to do this!
Thanks
Best video on how to mechanically I have ever seen! 👏👏👏
Just did my girlfriends car, thank you so much, took an hour and some change, shop wanted 600$ got it down for $115
Make sure that you tighten the bolts down in the proper order. I know GM gives a pattern on how to do this. If not it has the potential to not tighten down evenly and get leaks
Can someone help does a bad valve cover cause an oil leak??
This will be the third time I am replacing this damn valve cover. I do it myself lol
Thanks!
Awesome resource! Saved a lot of time and effort!
With RTV being used, do you have to wait 24 hrs for it to cure or can you drive it right after ?

Great mechanic- Thank you for the tutorial on how to R&R the oil pan video👍

I’m so glad I have a set of e torx this car is mostly those thanks for the torque spec tho!
If you keep having issues with the valve cover assembly. It's the pcv valve that went out in your intake manifold. If that is the case it needs to be replaced.
Perfectly Done!!!!!!!!! PERIOD😎
Is rtv cream And dielectric grease a must add??
Rtv yes
Very professional congratulations
Thanks a lot for this! Quick question, how come you don't put rtv all the way around on the gasket? Not questioning your skills, genuinely curious.
My torque wrench is set in foot pounds. You’re torquing 71 inch pounds. What would I set my torque wrench to?
Ty for this video. It was very helpful.
I have a ? about the valve on the rt side of the cover. It sucks in air. It is clogged and forcing air in the oil reservoir dipstick hole. It is causing an incessant noise like a swarm of locusts. Can the valve be cleaned with brake cleaner?
Isn't it necessary to put thermal RTV Silicone gasket on before putting back the cover with the new rubber gasket?
I had a mec replace the coil pack, but couldn't figure out why it didn't idle right. Another mech wants to replace the valve cover. I don't even have a 109 miles on the coil pack. Do I need to replace it?
Does this leak cause the check traction/stability control issue?
Is it better to go light on the RTV? In the military they had us go super heavy with it for things that typically wouldn’t be replaced for a long time. (I know military mechanics aren’t the best 😂).
So I have a question. When I started to take off the coil pack 2 of the rubbers got stuck in. And was wondering if I can continue the job or I should just buy a new coil pack
Any specific RTV?
I saw on another post by a master mechanic that bolt #4 goes into a oil area and needs thread sealant. Do you know which bolt is bolt 4?
Can you make a video changing the cylinder head , would b nice
My cover wont lift after unscrewing! Tips?
Why did you replaced the valve cover was it because it was leaking oil or because of the PSV valve? thanks
Is IT The Same for the A16LET LUL ENGINE??
What is that first part called? The bolts are stuck on mine and I need to search how to get those out without stripping them
What RTV did you use? Thanks
Is the rtv important?!
I'm so pissed. I did this a couple months ago and just now realized my gasket has a small bulge out the back I didn't see. Now it's leaking again ffs. Can the gasket be salvaged or is it toast?
Is it advised to use black or gray RTV? Anybody know?
I'm doing this tomorrow and cam actuator seals.
Perfect ✅ I went to mechanic asking 375 dollars
This is the second part I’ve had to replace on this car that’s expensive. Toyota pvc valve = $30 golden cruise = $300. Every other manufactures thermostat = $50, Holden cruise = $180.

Wait this is to fix lil oil in spark plugs?
+@MrDon967 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I see you didn't change the bolts oil rings.
Would a aluminum cover be better
What if you got oil in your spark plug wells??
You torqued to 71 inch lbs, I’ve seen 79 inch lbs else where. Which is it?
As long as you tighten each valve bolt down without cranking down on your MR side or the other you should be fine.

First time I ever did it was on a 302 Ford motor. Trust me this is 10 times easier
What does it mean when one of those screws keep spinning and doesn’t get tight?
+Luke Minnick Typically this means the screw or threads are stripped and will need to be replaced with a new screw.
I cannot get cover off, it's all unbolted and I've pryed and pulled and hammered and no luck almost as if someone glued it on
Don’t pry & you missed a bolt
Dont ever pry it as mars says you missed a bolt and most likely rtv is stuck on it
Is this a 2.0t engine?
1.4L turbo
So i guess illignore the tightening sequence?
Don't use a torque wrench like this guy, he's not holding it by the handle. He also didn't do the correct pattern for tifhtening them, I thought this company verified their info but apparently they just make it up as they go...
I was cringing the whole time watching him torque the valve cover like that. Hope it didn’t crack.
Doesn't matter where on the handle you hold it, the closer you are to the edge, the less force you'll need for the same torque but if you get it to click then it's torqued, also why would the pattern matter on a plastic valve cover?
Why replace the cover and not just the gasket?
I did this successfully but I dont understsnd the torque process but I did it tight as I could lol F it.Light went away and running smooth again
What about all the bad reviews for this product? I really don't wanna buy it and oil blow everywhere
Bought a torque and the shit doesn't click :(
Inch pounds. Wth
Wife said I have a job I said I'm not a grage lol
I guess you didn't learn how to torque bolts. Every one is under torqued. Move your hand to the end of the wrench newb!
Failed to mention engine size. Instant dislike
+@AFatherToTheFatherless Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team. 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
