- The Browning HI Power was introduced in 1935 and produced until 2018. It served around the world and a major player in many conflicts. FN did produce a small number of Lightweight Hi Powers for European Law Enforcement. This is a police trade in from AIM Surplus that I purchased. #HiPower #BrowningHiPower #LightweightHiPower @aimsurplus
Big thanks to Fiocchi USA for Supplying our ammunition! @FiocchiUSA

The fact that this particular piece is a police trade-in from AIM Surplus adds a touch of history to its journey. The craftsmanship and reliability of the Hi Power are truly timeless, and it's fascinating to see how it evolved over the years
The Browning High Power is the kind of gun that every collector must have, this gun is legendary, and i proud that FN is making this gun again.
It’s not the same HP….
@josephhaack5711 You're right, Springfield Armory is the only American firearms manufacturer that makes a real variation of the Browning Hi-Power.
FN is not making this again
Why would sootch do this video then? @@jmf1976jmf

I heard they are making it in Canada
Thank you for the great review. My 1st firearm purchase in 2010 was the Browning Hi-Power (75th edition). Since then I've purchased many other firearms. However, the HiPower is special. It has a very classy look and no nonsense utilitarian feel. I agree, it is very pointable and feels like a 1911.
Nice to see the pistol that was my daily carry when I lived in the US for ten years, for me it only had one flaw for people like me with meaty hands - hammer bite. It had great pointablity with class leading capacity at the time,
If I returned to the US I'd probably try to get a hold of the new Hi-Power, it looks to be a very nice pistol.
What a great/iconic gun!
Browning P35s made great machine pistols with the shoulder stock attached.
I have 3 CZ75s because I couldn’t get a browning HP, but when the clones came out I was finally able to get one. I went for the Girsan MC P35, it’s a great gun.
That BHP eject empty cartridges with AUTHORITY and the original mousetrap springs on magazines are my favorites....
My dad gave me his 1950s era High Power last year.
I own an original Hi Power brand new in it's original box & catalog never been shot bought by the owner in 1968
It is a collectable gun for me
My favourite firearm. Thumb resting on the slide, tight grip and let rip!
Great content, thanks for the video
Always love the history that comes along with a review like this.
I’ve been kicking around getting the Springfield or the EAA. I miss the old originals from back in the 80s and 90s when you could get the originals for cheap and even cheaper the Argentine ones. Thanks for making my itch worse!!
Missing my nickel plated 39 as well!!!
Loved the old 39! I feel your pain. 😊
Thank you for sharing this video with us ❤
Great review. I have always wanted a Hi Power. Thanks for sharing!
Back again! Hey that was a really good video,, Thanks! Take Care!
The gun of 90s action films. Always wanted a blued steel with the wood furniture
Awesome fn high power handgun thanks for sharing sootch00
excellent review
Thank just ordered mine
Thanks!
Nice piece there Sootch
Nice 🤝
Whoa I need that
Great guns! I got a safe queen/shooter, then bought another pretty one for a grand, put night sights, and nice wood grips and will carry it IWB in vedder holster. I love the look/feel and controls of 90’s ones. It’s thinner than G19, holds 13-15 rounds based on mags and I even got some 20 round mags mecgar use to make, great duty gun that is comfortable to carry. I like it more than 1911’s. It’s in my top 5 all time favorites of guns I love. Hi power, HK USP compact 9mm, colt python, S&W mod 13 3” barrel, and beretta px4 storm compact.
Iconic gun !
Carried the HP for yrs back in the 70's and 80's great wpn.
Nice one. Thx
Love it 👍
Beautiful pistol.
Most magazine disconnects can be easily removed. Thanks for the video scooch.
Nice video!
HiPower is. a must have for every gun owner/enthusiast. I would dare to say even before 1911.
Awesome video as always Sootch!!! Could you do a review on the new Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0?
I carried a Hi power in the canadian army in 2011, had to look it up as i have been out of the army for some time but apparently we just replaced the hi power last year(2023) with the sig p320
Hi power is a way better, safer, classier gun with an actual good bore axis
Looks like a good old shooter!
That looks like an amazing shooter. Looks like super low recoil.
You can so see where Ruger took cues from the Browning Hi Power for the P Series.
Un arma eterna.. Te va a proteger hoy igual que hace 70 años. Una de mis favoritas para proteger mí casa.. Para portar, en mí caso llevo algo más chico solo por llevarla oculta.
I like the High Power , as far as the gun having wear between the slide an aluminum frame , I own a P01 Omega with a aluminum frame with about 5,000 rounds fired and the slide is still tight. If the lock up is still good between the barrel and slide , looseness between the slide and frame shouldn't be an issue.
I bought one of these fifteen or so years ago just because (I thought) the extreme rarity would see the value soar. That didn't happen. The surplus BHPs coming in remained at about $400 whether steel or aluminum ($800 now that FN quit making them). I've carried BHPs for thirty years even though they are boat anchors on your belt. A few years ago (just before FN quit making them) I sent my aluminum safe queen off to get all the custom mods for a carry gun. It's beautiful for that purpose. Shaving off ten ounces makes it far easier to carry. The Garthwaite trigger is *almost* like a custom 1911 trigger. The sights on BHPs are mediocre at best, so you need to replace them along with an extended slide stop and and thumb safety. If you're smart you'll also replace the hammer with a rowel style "no bite" hammer. Bringing an original FN Hi-Power into the 21sh century is not cheap, but this was what you had to do before Springfield and EAA/Girsan started making them with all these mods straight from the factory. Girsan is even offering an aluminum framed version. Sigh... I wish I had left my safe queen in the safe.
High power is a beauty 🫡❤
P-35 Browning Hi-Power 9mm Luger, essa é espectácular
I have BHP with a mag with the spring for ejecting the mag.
1st HP ice ever liked the looks of.
🇺🇸
When you remove the mag disconnector on the Hi Power (which is easy) the mags drop out. I never even heard of this light weight version. There are also after market hammers that dont give hammer bite.
They have a practical in .40 cal also
Serpico!
It seems very nostalgic.
Berretta 92’s came out around the time of these aluminum frame models.
I suspect that Berretta won out in law enforcement sales.
I would never be able to enjoy on of these. My hands fit fine on a Berretta 92 with no hammer bite. I can’t see an advantage over the Berretta 92 produced in the 1970’s.
My magazines drop free but...i removed the magazine disconnect safety. I do on all my HiPowers
👍👍👍
Is that from Mosin crate surplus!?💪🏻✌🏻💥
What would be better the bretta m9A4 or the Fn hi power ? Could you do a review on both in same video
Can you make a video of the 30 caliber m1 enforcer
I think that's the final pistol in Red Dead 1. Or supposed to be based off of?? 🤔 Legendary
👍
Interesting how the Hi-Power equipped almost the entire Free World's militaries for 50 years, yet only 1.5 million were manufactured. The 1911 served mostly just the USA yet nearly 3 million were made.
I know we are talking 2 different pistors, but. I have an old Beretta 92F, I've had it a little over 40 years and ran 70k+ through it. I was at the club Aug 23 and a member had a newer 92xi sao I think he said. he was kind enough to let me run a few rounds through it. It was a nice running pistor, but like you saidwith the FN HP there is something about the older stuff. The 91xi was nice, but my old 92F with 70k rds was much better.
Older guns are better guns a lot of the time. Old everything that was hand fit/made with pride & skill is the difference. Not only guns. Think there’s a saying.they don’t makem like they used to. Good quality is good quality no matter what. Guns,im always on the lookout for a nice older gun. Surplus, pawnshop or wherever they may turn up..take care
I bought the APX 9 with it came out, The first day the extractor blew out, I took it to a CT. Beretta warranty repair, a week later picked it up, went top range again it blew out. Well, 3 times before it was fixed right. The warranty repair said Beretta had some bad extractors. It's
been ok since and running good. @@wbwills2
Browning High Power first wondernine
Asthetics still rules. Browning & lite in sentence scares me. Just me....the poor old A-5 still in my mind.
I also got a lightweight hi-power from aimsurplus, it's a little rough, but a very nice gun. I found that using a little oil in the magwell and pushing the sear spring back slightly gets rid of the friction, the spring release mag that comes with it will shoot out, and regular mags should come out easier as well.
Neden alt gövdeyle üst sılayt boyası farklı geçmişde bir adet 215 rn seri hi powerim vardı boysı böyle değildi
I have one and its very rare from my father build for iraqi army with iraq Republic sign above it
The Brownie High Power pistol is a very good pistol, as if it was used in the Iraqi security forces. Until now, citizens keep it. So I asked, what is the difference between 8 numbers and 10 numbers in sequence?
That's a beautiful gun..can anyone tell me what FN stands for, what company?
Fabrique Nationale Herstal(French for 'National Factory Herstal'), trading as FN Herstal and often referred to as Fabrique Nationale, Factory National, or simply FN, is a leading firearms manufacturer based in Herstal, Belgium, and former vehicle manufacturer. It was the largest exporter of military small arms in Europe as of 2012.

No thanks.
Give me a CZ75
I I got to give Browning some credit. The invention of this set the path for the eventual creation of the ultimate 9mm in 1975...
Not very durable, so a great for carry but not for training. New HP sucks... too heavy (half a pound heavier!?) and lacks an accessory rail and RDS mount so ludicrous to call it an "update".
Hi powers have crappy triggers their i said it...fight me
Yes but its not hard to make them good or at least ok.
You need to script your videos so you dont say the same things over and over. Saw one yesterday where you repeated the same information three or four time and youve already repated your at the very beginning of this video.
It looks very ridiculous and ordinary and I don't agree with it and maybe this is one of the worst designs of browning 💫👇🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Hey! It’s the racist dude on TH-cam! Lol
