Hey up TH-camrs, happy new year to you all, don't forget the booster plug us not only for the GS 1200 Its available for nearly every bike produced, so check them out, your bike will love you for it 👍
2013 GS 12. I was seriously considering getting rid of the bike after two years riding around the truly awful power delivery. I eventually pulled the trigger on buying one of these after I watched the video. I can't think of a better outcome. It transformed the bike. No fluffiness, no hesitation and the bike that wouldn't rev out, even down a hill is now eager, faster and actually fun. I bought the bike with the factory option Akroprovic can on it and always suspected that it was interfering with things. Whether the Booster Plug has cured the issue or is papering over the cracks remains to be seen but so far, with about 300 miles under the wheels, I am really impressed.
Hey up gretchensghost, some will say it's all in your head 😉, and some will believe, then buy and use it 😲, glad it has worked for you, thanks for dropping a comment, ride safe, Simon B 👍
Thanks. I've actually caused tendonitis in my hand trying to deal with the snatchiness of my big Triumph's throttle response and trying to blame myself/ ride around the issue. It's exactly at the spots you described it as being sorted for you after the booster plug install. I think it's the same issue. Thanks
I put a booster plug on my triumph thunderbird 1600 and it ran alot better. I then got the thunderbird remapped and dyno tuned. I'm now going to put the booster plug on my MT01. It does make a difference in my opinion.
glad i found this, i was thinking of fitting one to my dl 650, not had the bike long but it can be a complete nightmare in hot weather, it got that bad last week i just wanted to scrap it, so it's a booster plug it is, thanks for the upload.
I’ve recently applied the booster plug to my Kawasaki W800 & it has improved it so much. It purrs along now so smooth & even. It hasn’t changed the performance so much but rather made it eminently more rideable & enjoyable. Like it’s been fine tuned. I also removed the air box snorkel a few days before, now that improved the performance above 4K revs & the plug is the icing on the W’s cake.
Hey up sefton1972, that's great news, some say it doesn't make a difference but others know 😁, thanks for dropping a comment, much appreciated, ride safe, Simon B 👍
The snorkel is said to restrict air flow. I also have a W800. I had it on for the last few years and it's debatable whether it had any effect. I just took it off yesterday because I didnt realise that I left it on. My initial problem was uneven fuel when cruising at very low speeds in first. It was like an on-off switch.
I'm glad to find you for which I'm getting one for the F650gs but there is a bonus from this vlog and that is the amazing scenery. I would love to ride there. Thank you for that.
@SIMONB1 I'm actually in Michigan, USA. I am planning to visit family in the UK this upcoming summer. First time rider ever at 50 with a skill level of(-0), if there is such a level but working on it💪🤘💪 lol.
@sobhi05 we all start somewhere, I started trials riding at 50😲, green lanes at 51, get out and ride the only way to learn, welcome to the club 👊, ride safe, Simon B 😎
The Suzuki SV 650 and 1000s are famous for the V-twin 2K-2.8K engine shake, which is due to a lack of fuel or lean at that RPM range, then it kicks in at 2.8K. The usual fix is to adjust the throttle position sensor. But the BoosterPlug claims to fix the problem too. I’m considering buying one.
Hey up Steve, it should sort out that issue, I've got a few on bikes now, looking to get on for the hyperstrada, you bike will love it , ride safe Simon B 😎
Great video, just bought one secondhand for £60, will have to see what it does for a Yamaha XSR700 EURO. Thanks from the other side of the Bay at Heysham!
I just bought a secondhand R1200R and removed the boosterplug that one of the earlier owners fitted. The idle immediately improved and now I am convinced that the throttle action in general is much improved. Which just goes to show how difficult it is to judge these things. I'm terribly sorry, but personal anecdote is a very poor substitute for a randomised double blind trial. You get the improvement that you expect, snake oil purveyors have always been able to rely on this fact. In other fields they call this the placebo effect.
Hey up Tony, seems like it also worked with you the effect 😁, have you tried plugging it back in to see if it makes all them things worse again ? Some say the bike learns it's there, I can't agree with that as it's not artificial intelligence 😲, ride safe, Simon B 👍
@@SIMONB1 Yes of course, I was kinda saying as much. I don't really know whether it is better or not and I don't trust my judgement to be any better than 50-50 in this regard. As for the bike learning, the makers say that you can't fit it to BMW's made after 2020 because the ECU will detect an issue with the AIT sensor and flag it as a system failure. These engine diagnostics are getting very good. Again, I can't speak for M/C ECU's but I do know that car ECU's are adaptive and over a period of time create new timing and injector corrections that they store in NVRAM inside the ECU. If you make changes to the car that impact on the ECU you are supposed to remove the power from the ECU so as to reset the internal NVRAM settings and let it start again. This process is so sophisticated that it can adapt as the engine wears and keep it running longer before it finally gives up the ghost.
I placed one of these on my Z900rs to tame the snatchy throttling. Zero change. No improvement at all. I did receive a really nice cell phone charger with the booster though. I think that’s what I paid for. I removed the booster and had the ECU remapped and Wha-la ! Throttle responds as if the bike is carbureted. My personal opinion is the booster plug is useless. Snake oil. I played around with it by relocating the ‘sensor’ however that made no difference. Those who believe it helps or works, I say that is wishful thinking.
Nice one Simon. Will be interesting to see how it goes longer term. I had an earlier version on my old twin cam GS. It was good for a while, but the bike seemed to learn it was being fooled and over time adapted the air/fuel values back to normal. Disconnecting the battery to reset the bike, and the booster plug would be doing its thing again.
This is the point. I thought that I had an improvement for the first couple of rides and then it seemed to return to the on-off throttle when you wanted to go slowly through built up areas. The other aspect is I have a kawaski w800 and it may work for BMW fuel injection but I dont think it does for other bikes. Having said that, sefton below also has a W800 and says it works.
@@SIMONB1 Thanks for the suggestion. Yes I saw that as a suggestion. I just put a new battery in BEFORE I took the booster out. I should have left the booster in to see if it made any difference. But I'm going to interested in the coming weeks if removing the booster has any effect. I knew more about this a few years ago when I installed it but there is the idle system and the acceleration system for the fuel injection. It can on affect the idle system because acceleration bypasses the mapping. The question is whether the slight adjustment of the temp compensation makes the mixture richer and overcomes the lean mapping that they use for when the bike is cruising.
Interesting video, Simon. I enjoyed your riding along roads I haven't been on for years! The last time I was in your neck of the woods was for the Cumbria Steam Gathering in Flookburgh. After it we went to Bo'ness and saw the Red Arrows. We then rode home to Scotland via the Kirkstone Pass. A great day! That was on my old 600 Bandit. That's why I stick to my classic bikes, built before the draconian emissions curbs! Have you heard about the anti tampering laws that the government want to bring in? That mod that helped your bike would be illegal! We need to fight this!
Hey up Alistair, glad you liked the roads, probably changed a little since you rode them ?, Yes the anti tampering law, some thing that, we should all join MAG, they are looking into it, ride safe, Simon B 👍
You may think that you are exempt for the lean running issue of newer bikes, however with the introduction of ethanol at 5% (E5) and 10% (E10) your carbs need to be re-jetted 5-10% richer to compensate for the new fuel you are using. That involves bigger pilot and main jets and raising the needle by at least 1 clip position (drop the clip to raise the needle) makes a lot of difference to starting, idle, power and throttle response!
I'm not sure all bikes run very lean from factory in order to meet emission requirements but this was the case and reason I got one for my bike. Do I notice a performance improvement? I'm not sure, to be honest, since I never dyno'ed the bike. A slightly richer AFR is not a bad thing though, so that's what I'm going with as a reason to own one. There are better options but this is plug and play and forget about it.
Hey up x Pepi, a leaner running bike is a hot running bike, thus making the cat work better and burning all the exhaust gases, mostly all bike including cars are like this nowadays, if the ECU was remapped not much more power is available from the engine, but the plug smooths the entire bike, what bike is yours ?
@@SIMONB1 I removed my CAT and stock exhaust and put in a Zard, for my 2016 Duc Scrambler. That was the reason to get the plug. I tried a Rapid Bike EVO module but hated it and my bike didn't respond well to it despite months of tweaking the software. The plug seems to do what it needs to do. You're right about the leaner bike running hotter, though my bike is probably as hot as it gets :)
I just put one on a 2018 Z900RS, and it’s doing exactly what they said it would do. The thing I like most about it, other than the obvious improvements in performance, is it’s easily reversible, just take it off.

@@SIMONB1 Eyup, I've already spoken to Kal at BHP back in November. Had a nice chat with him about the tune up. I was a bit twitchy at the time regarding my BM's warrenty, which has just over 12 months remaining. But I'm still tempted regardless. Looking forward to the next R1300GS and what that might have to offer. You can't take it with you!! Keep the vids coming 👍
Looks interesting, I’d be interested to know how much the fuel performance is affected, but that looks really interesting. Great roads to ride on too! Loving the views across the moors(?) need to head up there and have a play I think.
I have them on a 2019 SV650 and 2016 XSR900, significantly reduced on/off throttle jerkyness for both bikes. Only thing is that the yamaha needs some throttle when hot-starting after fueling on warm day. I believe the average fuel consumption has increased by 0.1 km/l, over a couple thousand kms before and after. But that can be attributed to other factors, such as more confidence with the bikes etc. Sidenote. The dealer had never seen a chain in such nice condition after 40k service. And I'm not a stickler for chain cleaning. I believe the reduced jerkiness has a secondary side effect.
I had a 2015 GS and always rode it in road or dynamic. Never really had a problem except when my wife was on the pillion then it wasn’t quite so good at slow speed. I tried it in rain and hey presto all that bogging down disappeared. I have a 1250 and a 750 and the 750 is the opposite, again especially two up, ride in dynamic or face that feeling it’ll stall, not good two up turning at the lights, dynamic mode takes all of that away. Many years ago I had a K1200 great on the open road but scary in town going to the point it would stall then suddenly kick in not so good on a 150bhp 300+kg bike.
Hey up southwest 6031, with the booster plug all your troubles would be sorted, possibly, hope your enjoying the 1250 is it that much better than the 1200 ?
@@SIMONB1 definitely better but I only got this when I was changing bikes wouldn’t have bought it otherwise was happy with my 1200. I have an older 1200 as well a 2011 anniversary edition and love that bike it was my first GS and don’t want to sell it. I actually like my 750 and probably use it more than the others, I ride Yamaha 1300 blood bikes and when I get back and get on the 750 it feels like a bike mountain bike. Love the videos look forward to the next although still catching up with the catalogue 👍
I have a vfr1200 that has snatchy throttle at low revs in first and second gear, quite annoying at times in slow moving traffic. I wonder if this will sort that out 🤔
That's normal, either you learn the throttle by feel or you can change the gearing by dropping a couple teeth on the rear sprocket. This will make your gears longer, lower RPM and make it feel like it has an additional gear. Another option is a throttle tamer tube.
@@Mr.Be93 most people fit a power commander or get the ecu flashed on the vfr which sorts the fuelling and removes the limiters. Plus there's no rear sprocket on the 1200 it's shaft drive, so not sure what your talking about.
I collecting feedbacks from owners who tested and read some opinions in forums, at the moment mixed opinions. I would like to get one to solve some hesitation when I ride in higher gear in slower speed. It is big twin with high torque number, but does not feel like it. Engine is almost perfect, but can be improved. Mine is euro4, so fuel mixture could be a bit lean in some spots and I feel it. I had crf1000 with booster plug and it helped, bike pooled smoothly in 6 gear from low rews. My target is to have the same with my new for me r1200gsa when I want to be lazy and just cruise without gear changes :)
Hey up, hopefully the long term will be great, yes the country side is on my doorstep, great roads all over, thanks for dropping the comment, much appreciated, ride safe, Simon B 👍

Hey up Mr Topbreak, glad it made a difference, some say it's the placebo effect 🤔, no you don't need to take it off, there isn't a emissions test when the bike is MOT'd , ride safe, Simon B 👍

Hey up Pawel, maybe you should start manufacturing them and make a fortune 😜, thanks for watching and dropping a comment, much appreciated, ride safe, Simon B 👍
Hey up Steve, yes it's good, still as responsive as at first, really great in dynamic mode, just power all through the rev range, really good, do you have one ?
Looks nice. There is only one catch. The effect is neutralized by the feedback from the O2 sensor, thus installing this device on a BMW mc is a total waste of money: My claim is backed up by realtime AFR measurments, that prooves that there is no change in the fueling. Ass-dyno may be ok, but in reality, the fueling is no different before/after installations.
Hey up Knutk, the O2,lamber sensor would only override the booster plug when on a constant throttle, wouldn't it? whilst the throttle is being used the booster plug controls the fueling, thus more fuel ?
@@SIMONB1 Not quite. The LC engine runs in Closed loop mode most of the time. And even when in open loop the O2 sensor corrections are considered since the ECU builds up an adaptive map (alias Cognetive map, Long term trim) meaning the fueling is continuously corrected in all modes. When at higher rpms, the O2 sensor is less influential, but in this range the OEM map is also richer, thus, BP has no effect at any rpm, as verified by AFR readings....
@@SIMONB1 That is correct. I do have the equipment required to conduct a direct reading of the AFR, and a friend of mine asked me to check if adding the BP to his LC would make a difference. We made a reading before installiation and compared with readings after the BP was installed. The AFR showed NO IMPROVEMENT WHAT SO EVER. The BP will probably work on a pre-O2 sensor bike, but for ECUs that fine tune their fueling based on feedback from the O2 sensor, the BP is neutralized during all riding conditions...
If you want more details and graphs that shows the actual readings from the bike, give me a hint. Here is not the arena for a more detailed discussion. The BP company publish a book (free download) that explaines fuel injection The book appears to be well written, but they make some false claims to back up their theory to prove why BP works. They 'proove' that adaptions are impossible, even if cars and bikes have had it for more than 20 years,. Also they claim that Wideband O2 sensors are impossible to use in bikes. The fact is, the wideband sensors have been installed in cars for more than 20 years, and there are several bikes that also use them with great success, I know BMW are using them, but I'm confident that they are also used by others)
Mine has done NOTHING. I have a Triumph Thunderbird 1600 and put mine on last week. No change in steadiness at lower speeds and it’s made my popping and backfires WORSE on throttle roll off! Waste of £130!
Hey up lad, that doesn't sound good, I can't believe it hasn't done anything 😲, I e got 4 of them on different bikes and done amazing things to them all, hope you get it sorted, ride safe Simon B 😎
Hey up Dave, yes still using it, and still good, I've got one on my husqvarna 701 vilpitin and it's made a hell of difference 😁😎, you thinking of one ?
If the bike is running lean in order to pass emissions tests, and the booster plug makes it run richer, don't you run the risk of not passing the test?
Hey up wanderman1, on a bike test there is no emission test, they are trying to bring in a law to mak it illegal to change factory parts on the exhaust system, so at the moment there are no problems 😁, thanks for watching and taking the time to drop a comment, much appreciated, ride safe Simon B 👍

Hey up Julian, yeah long term we'll have to see, this is interesting tho -th-cam.com/video/NVyG_Dqmy7Q/w-d-xo.html, ride safe, Simon B 👍
6% increase in fuel.
Sometimes smaller is better and more fun 😁, thanks for dropping a comment, and watching the videos, ride safe, Simon B 👍
Beautiful places!! Where are you from?
Hey up, I'm up in Cumbria on the edge of the lake District, do I sound like I'm from elsewhere 🤔
I have a vfr1200 that has snatchy throttle at low revs in first and second gear, quite annoying at times in slow moving traffic. I wonder if this will sort that out 🤔
Hey up Jim, they do the booster pug for loads of bikes, I would say it would sort them problems out, ride safe, Simon B 👍
Jim ,I have a vfr1200 and the booster plug did improve low speed throttle.
Thanks for that ,
Thinking of putting one on my 650 interceptor with header pipes .
Think I'll get improvement , any thoughts welcome
Hey up Chris, probably won't do any harm 🤔, I would imagine it will help , ride safe, Simon B 👍
Hi, how is booster plug working after some time? Is it still doing its job or ecu readjusted and eliminated BP impact?
Hey up Ricard, I think it is , I'll have to unplug it and see if there's a difference, thanks for reminding me 👍, do you run one ?
Nice one Simon! Happy New year to you! I would be interested to fit one to my 1150! Lovely countryside up round your way! Take care!
Hey up, hopefully the long term will be great, yes the country side is on my doorstep, great roads all over, thanks for dropping the comment, much appreciated, ride safe, Simon B 👍
I had one fitted to my KTM for two years and found it to improve the ride immensely, the bike is due an MOT, do I need to remove the Booster to pass the emissions test???
Hey up Mr Topbreak, glad it made a difference, some say it's the placebo effect 🤔, no you don't need to take it off, there isn't a emissions test when the bike is MOT'd , ride safe, Simon B 👍
Hi
do you Know wich bosster plug for qj srk 250 (Benelli bkr 250)
merci
Hey up Agfr94, just had a look on the website, can't find a listing for that bike, why not mail them and ask, www.boosterplug.com , ride safe, Simon B 😎
An associate… are you ROSPA or IAM ? 👍🏻
Hey up Nick , I'm IAM 👍
You can achieve the same thing by fitting a resistor in the original air temperature sensor wiring.
Hey up Pawel, maybe you should start manufacturing them and make a fortune 😜, thanks for watching and dropping a comment, much appreciated, ride safe, Simon B 👍
What about Euro 5 & 6 motorcycles Simon. Pretty well and by and large it is a no go now the booster plug.
NZ
👍
Too cold for riding not a warrior like you although MOT due next week I'll have man up ha!
Hey up flatcap007, it was about 8 degrees when out on this vid, not had too much cold really 🤔,ride safe, Simon B 👍
Simon, a few months on here, how is the BP working for you?
Hey up Steve, yes it's good, still as responsive as at first, really great in dynamic mode, just power all through the rev range, really good, do you have one ?
Looks nice. There is only one catch. The effect is neutralized by the feedback from the O2 sensor, thus installing this device on a BMW mc is a total waste of money:
My claim is backed up by realtime AFR measurments, that prooves that there is no change in the fueling.
@@SIMONB1
Not quite.
So what your saying is that putting the booster plug on the LC GS, will make no difference ?
Just bought one for my cb650. Hope it works! Lol
Hey up Peter, you should notice a difference in the way it rides, what made you buy one ?
@SIMON B Your comments, among others. For the most part my bike okay, just a little jerky. Hoping this will smooth out some of the rough edges.
Similar issues with the GS, worked wonders, I won one for my husqvarna vilpitin, I have to fit yet, keep us updated how it goes, ride safe, Simon B 👍
are you still using the booster plug
Hey up Dave, yes still using it, and still good, I've got one on my husqvarna 701 vilpitin and it's made a hell of difference 😁😎, you thinking of one ?
thanks for getting back to me I will Order one now I've gone on the GS forums and they don't say anything about it @@SIMONB1
Why do you change the camara angle at every sentence ? Very distracting
Hey up Freek Heurkens, just one of those things, you can't please everyone, I'm sure you'll get over the experience, ride safe , Simon B 👍
man, changing mirror image......just stop it 🤦♂
Can't stop in now, it was done years ago, out else you want to moan at 😂,you ride safe , Simon B 👍
Until there is evidence, I won't do it.
Hey up , what evidence do you want, my vitpilen is a different bike since I put the booster plug on 😲, the engine runs quieter and cooler, the straight through exhaust is a lot quieter ☹️, ride safe Simon B 😎
@@SIMONB1
Les rich mixture does that, okay.
I prefer technically sound evidence and what happens to the exhaust fumes in terms of air pollution?
Too many cuts.. I couldn't watch for more than a minute.
Can't win them all, ride safe
Flipping is so annoying I flipped to another channel
Hey up Barry, can't win them all, thanks for watching, ride safe Simon B 👍
The flipping of the video every other sentence is really annoying.
Hey up Sir wellington, can't please everyone 😲, thanks for watching and dropping a comment, ride safe, Simon B 👍
@@SIMONB1 Just wondering why do you flip the video?
It was a technique I was told about to do when you only had one camera and just starting out on TH-cam, once, I did it and had complaints , so give it up as a bad job 😁
