If you need help doing row 3 and beyond, here’s a tutorial I used to learn the stitch: th-cam.com/video/1_5pHBcVhuU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_yobw8npqBfxAXOz Also, I am doing an extended double crochet/ UK double crochet in this video instead of the US double crochet like intended- either one works though. This is a really old video so my newer videos don’t have this problem! :) Sorry for the confusion 💓
You are doing an extended dc not a normal dc. An extended dc is yarn over pull thru 1 loop then complete as a dc with the last 3 loops on the hook. A dc is a yarn over pull thru 2 loops, yarn over pull through last 2 loops. There are a lot of beginner crocheter that may not know this. Beautiful skirt.
This is beautiful. Never thought of using mandala yarn for this. Have u thought of working this in a continuous circle so that u don’t have to have the unsightly seam? Like literally just at the end of the chain just attach it with a slip not to the beginning then u can work the skirt going around a circle and still add the pull string to the top. Since it’s just an easy stitch being repeated you can literally just work this in a circle and skip all the other stuff. So much simpler and no seams!
Did you do this in a circle successfully? ? I bought yarn to make this for my granddaughter , Mandala Ombre, but she does not like the color. Ih ave so much yarn in this house. Have you ever used a different yarn successfully for this skirt> I don''t want to make it and have the yarn make it a failure LOL
i tried this and without tht unsightly seam, my project was all messed up. its a very long chain so it kept turning and it was impossible to straighten it as i crochet. i had to frog 2-3 hrs of work. next time dont suggest something if ur not going to help explain all the way through.
@@yanybanany there is a simple way to do a circle and the chain is never twisted. On TH-cam look for "do not twist chain" or "keep crochet chain from twisting". It works great
to start row 3, you need to chain one after doing the 3 dc in the last stitch. Turn you work and do a single crochet in that same stitch and then continue the pattern: skip 2, 5dc in the third stitch, skip 2 and a single crochet in the third stitch
After the 3 double crochet on the end of my second row, do i chain 1 or immediately go into the shell? Im so confused on this part and i dont want it to look bad! @briannasipp
Beautiful skirt and beautiful work! That doesn’t look like a traditional DC. I thought you were using UK term at first…But looked close and noticed you only yarned over once when you went into your stitch but then yarned over three times when you were pulling through your loops on your hook. Usually a double crochet is pulled through with twice not 3 times. Anyway, interesting. I’m just wondering if maybe there is a different name for this type of double crochet stitch?

i just started this making this skirt, how many rows did u do to get the maxi skirt? ik that it differs based on height but i’d like to know approximately how many rows i need

I would say giving information about the weigh and the length would be more helpful than mentioning the amount of balls. I can’t wait to start…. But I need to finish my scarf… And there is still time left till summer….
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that you either did 112 stitches which isn’t a multiple of 6, then added 2 to make 114. Or you did 114 stitches (which is a multiple of 6) and didn’t add the extra 2 stitches at the end. I hope that helps
