1 week of trying to figure this out and I come across your video...Thank you so much for explaining this better than any forums, diagrams, or even Corsair's manual. Thank you.
Corsair must have seen this video and granted your wish!! I bought 2 of the QX120 starter kits, and both came with the exact same cables as the aio in your video.
Dude, you're a life saver, or at the very least a hair saver, as I was trying to figure out the AIO linkage and could NOT figure it out using the CORSAIR guide or their videos on the product. Thanks so much for this very helpful video!
Thanks davidporter2543, i'm happy you found this video helpful, that makes it worth it!!! Thank you! Good luck and have fun with it, thanks for the support and for watching!!!
Same crap happened to me basically in my head I assumed the aio and the connected fans were already dizzy chained to each other but I was just missing that linkage 😅 smh damnit corsair and it's documentation
Thanks reeemooo , I am very happy you found the the videos helpful, that makes it worth doing. I very much appreciate your support! Good Luck and have lots of fun with it!! Thanks for watching!!!
they give you that cable so that way your forced to buy the cable pack for extra money like its dlc thats required to play the base game. *sighs* hope people start speaking with their wallets sooner rather than later. Thanks for the review!
Thanks @metalguitarman01!! I see today that Corsair is offering a free cable if you purchased the QX120 fan kit. I think Corsair knows they have been much to 'cheap' with the cables. Thanks for the support!!!
I have a Corsair 5000x case and I recently bought and built this kit. I bought the H150i LCD kit with two triple kits, refurbed to save money, and a single 120 for the rear. Rad at top, rear fan connected to rad rear, both triples connected at top with shorty, Long cable connected at bottom of triple to central hub. Another long connected to central hub from the front rad hub point. USB header connected to Rad hub to turn on pump. pump lead connected to pump fan header as normal. I had 10 QL120 fans for the longest time and the wiring was just a nightmare. This has saved weight, time and peace of mind.
It really considerably improved my PC building experience. My last PC build I had H150i without icue link system which means all the fans, AIO and backside fan and whatnot, had to be connected to the motherboard separately. With my new PC build I only need to connect one cable from the control core to the MB and all the other things are daisy chianed to the core.
I had also heard that the components with LCD screens(both the AIOs and the Hydro X parts) were going to need an additional USB connection, I believe for more data bandwidth. Overall, I really like what Corsair has done with the iCUE Link system. The two real negatives are ones you mentioned in the video: the provided cables and the overall price. Not including a cable with a 90-degree connector for the fan 3-pack seems like big fail for them, that seems like the most useful place for the angled connector. I also don't get why there isn't a better cable option for conneting the AIO fans to the port on the radiator. It's their AIO for Pete's sake, they know exactly how much space there is between the fan port and the radiator port, and they know the exact alignment. Why not include a custom cable that's just the right length and is shaped to fit smoothly around the tubing? The one you used, which I assume came with the AIO, seemed much longer than necessary, and just looked awkward. As for the price, I get that these components bring more functionality and thus warrant a higher price, but it's still a big hit to the wallet. Especially when they provide a sub-optimal cable to do with it. I wouldn't mind seeing them offer an extender which connects to the straight-end cable, adds maybe 2-3 inches of length, and ends in an angled connector. I'm also hoping they eventually offer parts that scale back or eliminate the RGB to perhaps cut down on the cost. I understand why they introduced the fully blinged-out versions up front, but they've offered reduced-RGB versions of fans & AIOs in the past, hopefully they'll do that here as well. Not all of us want our computer to look like it belongs at a rave :)
Hi @pdegan2814, yes, I did use the included AIO cables and thought the same thing, it's slightly awkward , not sure why they didn't include a shorter cable in that situation. I agree with you, I really like the idea and it does work, including the right cables will really help. Thanks for watching!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to respond to what some would consider an "old" video. I've been thinking about buying these fans as well and this helps finalize my decision
Hi X3.X3, that sounds like an awesome build for sure! I've been working with iCUE link and that LCD Screen for a bit and it looks really cool, I think you'll really love the look of it and iCUE link does make cable management look good. I need to check out the 6500x case, it looks awesome!! Good Luck and Have fun, thanks for watching!!!
@@HardwareArtisan hell yeah! Just ordered the msi z790 with the back connections to make it even cleaner in the new 6500x….also had to buy a 14700k and some titanium ddr5 too 😉 damn I’m almost at a full new build 😂
Would also like to know the answer to this. Mine came included with a USB splitter but I had trouble with the af fan version of this as it had trouble splitting power for some reason which is why I bought the NZXT splitter to begin with. If it’s not optimal to plug both internal usb into the splitter, is there one internal usb that should take priority over the other and connect straight to the motherboard header or should I unplug my splitter and plug both into my motherboard header? I only have two headers
From a previous review Ive seen having the pump on one channel seems to also reduce the amount of other devices you can install to the same channel. With the cables on the hoses ,maybe after fitting the user could run hot air over them to heat the cabling and get a better forming on the cabling removing the lumpiness. Im sure there was mention of linking hubs for larger systems.
That's a good point...I considered that when I had some goofy issues, but thus far its behaving normally all on the same port. But. Definitely something to try if you are having issues!!! Great point! Thanks for watching!
Agreed! I know a builder who swears that he has to keep the AIO on one side of the controller and the fan banks on the other, or he gets weird fan issues (like some of them just turning off at random). I'm thinking maybe a power drain issue? I'm about to drop a serious amount on a full setup that will require two controllers, so wish me luck! Great video, btw. I love the way you stick to the topic and don't stray into the weeds.
Bought the AIO and 10 individual fans to avoid getting 2 or 3 more system hubs I wouldn't need. The fact they don't have great cable options makes this way harder than it needs to be. I'm installing 13 fans total in a Corsair 5000D airflow and the cable headers that are not 90 degrees are almost never a good fit. I have 2 200mm normal connector cables, the 1 600mm cable with the AIO, 1 splitter I bought separately and the double 90 degree cable that is exclusive to the AIO. I can't get the configuration to work with those cables. the 3 fans I have on top of the case for push/pull with the AIO the only one that works is the 600mm 90 degree end. I had to order another 2 of those. And the connection string is janky because each port only support 7 devices and the AIO pump counts as 1 separate from the 3 fans on the AIO. So the "14 devices" is literally 14 individual fans or a mix of AIO pumps/future custom loop pumps, etc. It's an expensive, proprietary setup that almost doesn't seem to help with saving time during setup. I've had to take apart all the fans 2 times already and will need to a 3rd time when the expensive extra cables come. Also they need to sell more double 90 degree cables at all the lengths. Those are by far the best cables for fit and look.
By the way that's around $100 of extra cables on top of the setup which is terrible. They should really have way more cables included with the package instead of making you buy more. The fans are way too expensive. Also out of the 10 fans I got in my Amazon order, one was defective with weird Red/Green/Blue Flashes during normal color cycles, Amazon replaced in in 2 days no problem, but it was clearly a bad fan. Just hope they learn from this and make the "easier" solution actually easy to install. It took me a whole day of messing with to get the cables in the right way.
I have a 10 QX fan setup in a O11, you will need to order extra 90 to 90degree cables to 'finesse the install', just order a extra pack of small and medium length angled cables from the start and you'll be fine. Its soooo easy.
I am considering upgrading from a commander pro based setup with 7 QL-fans to this new eco system. Looks like there are still some initial problems that needs to be addressed and the prices are still crazy imo. So I will wait a bit. Great video! And useful comments as well.
Yea, I agree with all your points, the prices are high and the cables themselves are a bit of a pain requiring additional purchases, if you have the right cables, it's a great setup. Thanks for the feedback and for watching!!!
I had a full QL120 system and h150i cooler just switch tho the full ICUE link H170i and also got 2 140mm fan kits which comes out to 7 fans total. It all arrived yesterday and each of the 2 QX140 fan kits came with 2 cables each. 1 600mm and 1 150mm
Just picked up 4 of the new link qx-140mm fans and I was absolutely loving how much easier the wiring was. Anxiously awaiting the rest of the product stack. Trying to decide if I want to replace my h170i elite lcd with the new link version when it comes out or just finally go full custom water loop. Lord knows I have the room for the custom loop in a 7000d lol.
Hey man, I have the same case was thinking about getting these fans and aio. What I am wondering is how would I connect a total of 9 fans. 4 in the front, 4 on the side and 1 in the back as exhaust, plus the aio with 3 fans? I see what he is doing, but you can only connect 7 fans per plug on the hub, total of 14 I guess. Soi I am wondering if I would need 2 hubs, cause cant see connecting the 4 front and 4 side fans to the same hub?? Any advice would help thanks.
@MrPinkfloyd1173 Easiest option would be to just use two separate link hubs. If you're buying triple packs of 120mm fans it'll come with a link controller in the box.
@MrPinkfloyd1173 Actually the do have the y splitter cable that might solve your issue. Or you could stick with 2 hubs. Aio plus it's fans, exhausts fan, plus 2 more fans going into one channel. Other 6 fans into the other channel.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I'm installing this thing in a couple days when my new build parts all show up. Your video really helped explain the nitty gritty which is almost always missing when you buy something. Big thanks - PS - Corsair included extra cables in the starter kit now, so maybe they listened to ya lol
Hi AxeltAnubis, I'm assuming you are using a Commander Core with the attached AIO. And I'm also assuming that the AIO/CORE are not being detected within icue. Are the fans running that are connected to the controller indicating it has power? It's likely that the pump is fine and has power, you should be able to hear it if you listen closely and/or feel it. Also, just use a common tool to check your cpu temp and make sure it's not rising until you figure this out. As for the controller, start with the basics, make sure you have the latest iCUE software, uninstall/reinstall. Power off and disconnect your HUB's power/USB connector. Try using a different sata connector (but physically disconnect it for a moment regardless...that has solved multiple issues for me). and try a different USB connector. if that doesn't solve it by using another power connector or USB port and reinstalling. Remove the fans and any other devices except your AIO plug. Reseat the AIO plug and try again. If you have another system available, try the hub by itself to see if it's detected. It's possible it's a controller gone bad, but if the fans are running and you're cpu temps aren't rising, the pump should be working. The pump should always be running if the controller has power. There can be other system/windows issues causing problems to which you can reinstall windows if necessary or investigate other added hardware. let me know what you find, good luck and have fun....Troubleshooting is fun, isn't it? Thanks for watching!
I putchased a QX120 3fan kit, and my 60cm cable one end was 90degrees and other was straight, not sure if this is now standard. Replaced the rats nest of cables, i did find them loud on full load. I managed to install the shorter 10cm cable to the controller box via bottom entry. I paid $122 for fan kit, converted from RMB 899 (I live in China I suspect where they are made) PS Single fan on way 299rmb ($41).
Thanks for covering these in excellent detail, nice job. Building a new system with the idea of using the upcoming Lian Li Sup 01 case with the products shown but also with the LCD upgrade. .
Hi SimHardware! Thanks for your feedback, i'm happy you found the video helpful! I've seen pics of the Sup 01 case, as with most Lian Li cases, should be a good case! If you get a chance to report back how iCue Link works in that case, let me know!! Thanks for watching!!!
Hi ThomasLiberty, some of the non-elite sp120's aren't compatable with the core XT. But the SP120's that are elite have the 4 pin ARGB connector so they are compatable with iCUE. Just check the specs of your specific fan. It has been confusing on the SP120's specifically because there are a couple of types of that fan. Corsair usually notes in the specs if it's icue compatable. Good Luck, have fun and thanks for watching!!!
Do you think I will have a problem with installing it on the front of my Be Quiet 500DX case? I checked the dimensions and they are quite similar to your 4000d.
Hi carrygun_ , the iCUE Link system will install Nicely in the 500DX case as best I can tell. I haven't used that case, but a picture of it suggests you will have no issues. iCUE link is well suited for even small cases as the HUB is a very small piece of equipment and the nature of how it connects takes up little room. You will do just fine with the iCUE LINK system. Have fun with the build and thanks for watching!!!
I have the new iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX RGB AIO Liquid CPU Cooler and a Rm1000x PSU and I'm tried to find out how to plug the 6 pin into the PSU which are all 8 pin female ports, so I bought a Corsair Premium Individually Sleeved EPS12V/ATX12V Cable in order to connect the system hub power cable and PSU together, well when i booted up my pc, the system hub started popping and smoking, what went wrong?
They definitely could have given a couple extra cables in each kit for getting you up and running. Im starting my upgrade to this ecosystem which hurts the wallet but Im already invested in their products so I have to keep it as i have their keyboard and mouse and headset.
Hi will i be able to connect the power cable directly to the psu ? Because I’m out of pcie cables 😅…. If not could i plug it in in my pig tail pcie cable that im using for my gpu ? (The end of the cable that is not used by the gpu)
for this particular aio I just recently bought it and I have an am4 motherboard and this comes with an am5 bracket. Is there any way to put an am4 bracket on the aio?
I am just a little confused why you wouldn't put the 3F on the inside of the case? i have to add it does look rather odd having a white set of fans in a black case and then having them on the outside
I was running into lighting issues periodically. I ended up having a hub just for the cooler and it's fans. then a seperate hub for case fans. Just spent another 40.bucks on cables and splitters
Hi stoshkee5745, sorry to hear about that. Did you by chance get messages regarding the power delivery of the hub? I've been running into that on a PC lately. It occasionally alerts that it's dimmed the lights because of power. I need to troubleshoot it still, but wondering if it's the hub or the power supply. I might do a video on that if it's interesting enough, so I'm curious what symptoms lead you to add a hub. And Yea, I feel your pain of busting out more money on cables and splitters. Keep having fun and thanks for watching!!!
The only problem i encounter is the cables!, what in the hell you make that tight fit 90degres cable near the rad hose, i spend a premium quality and the cables are sucks!
Hi Atrociousnes, you will generally connect this to your cpu fan connector on the motherboard if your motherboard requires it for normal operation. It's not required for operation within iCUE and is needed only if your motherboard needs to see a signal on that port regarding the cpu fan. You can likely change that in the BIOS as well. On my current build with this AIO i'm not using it. I hope that helps, thanks for watching!!!
Can you help me, what is the power cable that runs the radiator and control? Can you send me a link from Amazon so I can purchase it? Note that I purchased a cable and installed it but the motherboard crashed
Hi n__i_z_a__r , I'm assuming you are referring to one of the iCUE link AIO's. In that case the pump head power and control are done through the icue link cables themselves. There is a power cable to the icue link hub itself, but that would have come with the hub. You can find a replacement one on corsairs website. To summarize, you connect the hub to your system using the PCIe power cable and the USB cable. Then, using one of the icue link cables (there are many to choose from length and connector angle, but they all work the same) you connect the icue link hub to a port on the AIO and then the second port is used to continue daisy chaining fans. There is a USB c port on the AIO control block, this is used if you are using the LCD screen. If your AIO doesn't have the icue link control block, then icue link won't work with it, it has to be a specific icue link enabled aio. I hope that helps, I may not be understanding, but as for the cable, just buy the proper length icue link cable that will reach from the hub to your aio. Let me know if that doesn't help and if you can provide me your AIO model# and what cables you have, I'll be happy to help. Thanks for watching!!!
Hi daynabatiste24, unfortunately as of right now, i'm not aware of any way to adapt non corsair (icue link) fans into this system. I've not seen any adapter cables or controllers yet. With that said, you can adapt non-corsair RGB fans (3 pin ARGB) into the icue ecosystem using a CORE XT, CORE or lighting node core, there are a few adapater cables with that. And those controllers will sync with the iCUE LINK system just fine. Check out these videos for details on ways to do that: th-cam.com/video/w2Pt86_qUYc/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/JgLUDe1yzYw/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
I bought 3 starter kits. The no 90-degree cables is a huge problem at this price point. They should be included. Or at least sell a kit with 3 fans and 3 cables and no controller box. Spending $169for a kit and $30 more for an extra cable is a huge problem. Tried to use it with custom cooling build. They don’t fit. Have to run cables outside the case. Then leave side panel off to hook up the ‘link’ cables to the controller. Right now the 99-degree cables are on back order. Only have 9 days left to return en to Newegg. Probably will have to do that. I’ve already delayed finishing this waiting on fans then the cables.
I am sorry to hear this was your experience, but I'm afraid that's going to be a common experience with the cable situation...hopefully it will improve!! Thanks for watching!!
Still can't get my older Corsair black boxes to talk to my motherboard or dectect in iCUE over the USB headers. So the big question really is, how backwards compatible is it with all the other Corsair products that already exists. I just ordered the Corsair LC100 RCB Triangle starter kit a few days ago, lets see if I can get *that* to detect in iCUE and work. The huge Achilles heal of this whole system seems to be the USB header connection, and that you have to have Windows and iCUE running at the time for it to have any effect at all on your lighting. If you cant' get the USB to talk to iCUE (like me), or Windows or iCUE isn't running for some other reason (you're booting up, shutting down, in BIOS, or in Linux or some other OS)... then you're Corsair lighting just will not respond. iCUE should of been some kind of add inor plug in for UEFI BIOS, or better, just soem entirely independent hardware box controller you can actually push buttons or turn knobs on or with a keypad you can stick on your case IMHO. Something that runs entirely independent of what your computer is doing, is simle, intuitive, and just detects whether your computer is on or off and mirrros that state.
The 5000D/X was cramped enough to build in, I don't know how you'd buildi in a 4000D. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get the 7000X, even though it only gives you maybe a few more inches forward and a few more inches upward, and no more inches in depth. It's not much more for the huge jump in price to be sure. But with the 5000 my motherboard and all it's top and bottom edge connectors were right up against the radiator fans and the bottom PSU shroud which made them a PITA to route cables to and plug in and search around and get fingers in there to find a way from the front to the back side for any cable.
just the first 5 minutes into this video and I already understood what the controller does and how I should cable it - currently debating wether I should get the new iCUE LINK H100i AiO after my ancient H60 has died a couple years ago with the pump finally giving in after 8 years of good service and ridiculous amounts of permeation. as I'm always taking care of my hardware I'm usually running PC builds for a decade or more, due to the current financial situation (studying, low paid internships etc) I feel the need to invest into the current build a little more to make it last for 3-4 more years (it's an old Maximus Hero VII, doesn't feature any (A)RGB ports), so the iCUE LINK AiO feels attractive because I'm confident I can nurture the current system with it to more runtime and migrate it easily into the next build that's coming up, saving a couple bucks in the long run (hopefully). excellently detailed coverage, well earned sub here! in case you would recommend or not advise to upgrade like mentioned above, feel free to reply and I will keep you posted on the outcome, in case you're interested!
Hi therealforestelf, thanks for your support. I'm happy you found the video helpful!!! I totally understand keeping PC builds around for the long haul. I've had some corsair fans for a long time, more than 5 years and haven't had any issues with them. Still running right here today. I would have no problems recommending Corsair iCUE link components. The fans at least have a 5 year warranty, i'd have to check on the AIO. But it's an easy system to setup and move in the future if needed, assuming you have the right cables for the new case. I've had this icue Link system running for over a year with no issues. let me know what you decide on and what you think!! Thanks for watching!!!
I've had such a bad experience with these fans. 1. The screw holes are slightly too small for the included screws with the kit as well as the screws with the Corsair 7000D case. This makes for an agonizing time trying to screw the fans onto the case or trays 2. The cables always feel too short or too long. Every fan came with a 90-to-90 135mm cable, but i only needed like 2 or 3 of these out of the 9 fans i bought. What i really needed was the y-splitter ($20 + $10 shipping). 3. The 7 device limit really doesn't play well with the 7000d 4x120 front and side fan intakes. It means i have to split the chain after 7 fans and connect them on a different way. If this was an 8 fan limit, or had i gotten an extra hub this would have been no problem. Because it's an issue, it's extra cost to buy another cable or hub. 4. No actual guides to setting up the fans, especially for Corsair's own cases. I spent hours searching to find what cables i would need, what daisy chain configuration, etc for this to work with a 12 fan 7000d setup. No one could provide a concrete answer or guide. Corsair's website claims how easy it is to install, yet this has been the most frustrating part of the build. This was an expensive lesson on doing my own fan setup with "premium" fans. I know next time to stick with something tried and true and pay a professional service to do it for me.
Hello, I have a question to see if someone can help me please. I have a 6+2 pcie cable, I can use it to connect it, only use the 6 and leave the 2 out, thank you
@@HardwareArtisan no problem! I like the simplicity of the QX’s but yeah. Building the right profiles can take some time, time I’d rather be doing something else 😆
Hi Ready1299, It would depend on what the problem is, but as a general start, uninstall any/all versions of icue, then restart your computer. download a fresh copy of v5 and tray again. Version 5 uses 'modules' in the software to control individual devices. If the software is installing but doesn't see your hardware, if may have not detected it and therefore didn't install the righ module. In that case, I'd start with trying a different usb connection. If possible, try a different pcie power connector, if not at least power off and reseat them. I'd still try uninstalling and reinstalling if that doesn't work. If that doesn't help, let me know what your specific issue and i'll be happy to help.
@@HardwareArtisan hey! Found the issue and it’s an interesting one. But I solved it! If you have Verizon FIOS and an Intel processor you need to disable IPV6 or it will inhibit you from downloading version 5 of ICUE!!!
I had this because the stand up cable didnt fit in my case. And corsair has been sold out on the slim ones for like over several weeks already and I expect my cables 10th of august now... Realy not happy about this.
Very Tempted to go with these in my 1000d case will make cable management easier and the build to look tidier i currently have 10 ll120's with a commander pro and commander cores it looks a mess and was a pain to cable manage
i just bought the case bundle and it came with 6 fans, bought another 3 pack 120mm and 3 140’s. i’ve got hubs and cables for days. i was getting annoyed at the LCD not working right either. 1 fan the RGB wasn’t working. fast forward 3 hours of google fu and a firmware update later. it all works. overall it’s a neat concept, a little poor on the execution. the instructions weren’t really helpful, but hey it works.
He TheAverncus, I'm glad you got it all working. I will agree, it's not perfect, i've had a few little issues with it, but overall, it works well, I haven't had much trouble with it. Hopefully from here on out it's smooth sailing with it. Thanks for watching!!!
Just got this last night and after setting it up and turning my PC on, I heard a loud popping sound followed by a burning plastic smell coming from the link system hub. After that, the entire AIO cooler just would not turn on or light up. Very disappointed with this product.
Hi danielsan9850, I'm sorry to hear you've had problems with the icue link, that sucks for sure!!! Sounds like some bad luck. I would suggest exchanging it for another one and give it a second chance. It's not common, but I once in awhile get a bad component. You can also reach out to Corsair support, it's not the fastest, but I've had decent help from them. Wishing you good luck, have fun and let me know how things work out!!! Thanks for Watching!
Do not get me wrong, I would love to get rid of the "rat nest" out of the back of my case. But not so much that I would pay nearly $140 for three fans and what little they come with.
I totally get that sentiment, they are pricey for sure. Do check out the RX120 RGB fans for corsair. They are icue link fans, but cheaper, coming in around 95 for the 3 fan kit with hub. (still not cheap) I'm working on a video for those, so check back, but just throwing out options. In the mean time, the rat's nest is still ok, my main PC still has a rats nest of RGB cables in it. Good Luck, have fun, thanks for watching!
@@HardwareArtisan You know if some one from corsair came up to me and offered me a deal to make a video on replacing my fans with theirs. I would give them a thumbs up and tell them hell yeah, ill do it. If i did it on my own, just in fans alone would cost me mere than i paid for my video cad. As I am not rocking some 5-6K monster pc here
I’m so out of my league 😂😅 I have a 4000x and am building very similar, I will be using this guide a lot when the time comes lol, thank you for this my friend 😂
I love corsair and run everything corsair but the price of these fans is crazy I have 10 fans in my 5000D case and would cost me $450 just for fans that's insane
I'm in the same boat. Being a Corsair fanboy, I've got a 5000d case, 7 QL fans, H150 AIO with 3 more fans. I'd love to step up to the Link but $500 is obscene.
The big problem to me is that they've over-complicated the system. It's a lot like USB, but with extra power capacity, which together makes the cables far more expensive and the devices a bit more expensive to produce. With each component more expensive to produce, it makes the overall system much more expensive. As much as I like Corsair products, I will not be buying this line of products specifically because it is too expensive.
Nice video, if they weren't so expensive (I would need 10 of the fans) I would probably buy them, but for the price they are I would require Corsair to come to my house and install them for me. Ended up getting 10 Arctic P12 PST's for hold on to your seat, 43GBP....so only a saving of 450GBP, I don't think RGB/Temp Sensor is worth 450GBP lmao
Hi TerminalzPain, I can't disagree with that assessment, it's pricey for sure and yes, it's very debateable if it's worth it...completely not necessary that's for sure as you figured out. 10 P12 PST's is just as much fun, awesome!!! Good Luck, keep having fun and thanks for watching!!!
I think u don't need that AIO u can do that with the old Corsair Icue Elite lcd xt AIO. Just connect the fans to system hub and then connect the command core to the PCIe port on the hub as well then the usb to the port on the mb, give it shot if u have it laying around. Lol
Thankyou for your honest review seems corsair could of made that cooler better rushed products for that reason I'm avoiding it the whole purpose of wireless is to make it look clean that cable showing near the cooler is deal breaker for me along with separate fan installation needs 1 cable per fan so there's no difference unless u plan on putting fans togethor
I have to say I love the whole link system, Im just not a fan of the pricing. I live in South Africa and basically what that entails is insane mark ups on electronics. Just as an example a RTX 4090 MSI X trio costs on my side R45 883.95 which after conversion is $2568.09 at the current rand to dollar exchange rate (ps that’s on special). Shocking and that applies to everything, PC cases, CPU’z etc. unable to compare pricing on the ICUE link products as none are currently available or listed for preorder
Sir, you don't to be sorry for mentioning all these important details Corsair should have mentioned on their "new" lovely Link stuff through all their Commercial videos to try to catch us to buy this ! With that price at least those 90° degrees cables should be included.........another commercial way to make us spend more !!! Update : you received another cable from Corsair I believe BECAUSE you made that video they saw for sure !
Thanks atishalineith6658, I appreciate the feedback. I can't disagree with your points about iCUE link. I like it, just comes with some issues. Thanks for watching and your support!!!
Wait so I paid a fortune for the Capellix with the led pump and a few months later they come out with this? Let me guess, my stuff isn't upgradeable to this right? Smh....smh.
Hi potvinsuks8730, Yea, I totally understand that. No, you will not be able to connect the Capellix AIO with with Commander core to the iCUE LINK system, there is no physical compatibility between the two. However, iCUE will control both at the same time and you can sync lighting across both products right withing the software. Don't underestimate your Capellix AIO, that's still cool stuff. I have a couple of them. Thanks for watching, have fun!!!
This is awesome, only for the reason that when the aio goes to sh*t Corsair can’t blame our wiring. I’m on my 4th failed or defective aio within the past 2 years, 2 of them being within the past week. Receiving one of these tomorrow hope to god it holds for at least a year.
It's a shame they didn't think of including a plug for existing iCue AIO's so as to consolidate controllers; I'd be happy to swap out the fans that came with my AIO and replace them with Link fans if it meant I can replace the Elite XT controller with the Link's, but nope. Between the price, and having to add yet another controller in my case (not to mention an internal USB hub - I already had my share of problems with the iCue supplied Y cable), I'm going to have to pass on this. I can understand why these are more expensive, but almost double the price of the Lian-Li's? Update the Link controller to help consolidate controllers with at least the iCue Elite XT's and drop the price a bit - then we'll talk.
Yea, I can't disagree, this is an all in type of system with no way to control older devices (icue will control them all), and yes, pricey...very pricey! Thanks for watching!!!
The issue is that it's not in any way similar. :) The old controllers run fans by pulsing analog power (pwm). iCUE link is a digital system, there's a MCU in the fan and the controller "tells it to run at 1200rpm". The fan then does the pwm work itself. In a way, it's like changing a simple power cable with a dimmer for a network cable. That's what lets you control fans individually and opens up a layer of space for future features. In short, even though it appears at first sight as a cable solution, there's a lot more going on under the hood.
With the way each device in the new ecosystem self-identifies through the data channel, creating a "bridge" of some kind isn't really practical. The old devices have no way of declaring themselves, so you'd need separate bridge devices for each legacy component, or some way to program the bridge device and tell it what legacy device(s) it's connecting to. Backwards compatibility is usually a good thing, but sometimes its more trouble than its worth and a clean break it necessary. I don't think iCUE Link is going to be the kind of thing that gets added on to an existing setup, this is clearly aimed at people who are either building a new rig, or are completely swapping out an old cooling/lighting setup for a 100% Link system.
WOW Corsair has become one of the most money hungry products for and mainly gaming desktop computers. I have the 4000D case and the thumb screws that you would use to mount your gpu the screw holes strip out so very easily and mine stripped when i only did a snug because i did not want it tight cause i use a gpu support rod so one day i had to reset my bios by taking out the mobo battery and putting it back in and my gpu was in the way so after i did all of that when i went to snug the 2 screws for the gpu they would not even snug they just kept turning and it took me talking to corsair tech support 2 months just to get them to honor the warranty and i did get a new case and they no longer talk to anyone over the phone for support it is now only through email. I will never but from that company ever again.
Hi ShaaneMAATE, Yea, I get why they had to do it that way, but wouldn't you think they could have figured out a better way...... I'm sure they could, but then they would add 100 bucks to the cost...ughh... Haha, good news is, it does work, so there's that, but i'm all about "LOOKS" around here. Anyways, Keep having Fun, thanks for watching!!!
Not worth the price. $200+ for 3 fans $300+ for a 240 aio $70 for a single fan $70 for a cord to connect that single fan. No thanks. I'll stick with my couple extra easily dealt with and hidden cables.
Costs just far too much, they don't give you all the cables you need (resulting in costing more out of your pocket) and other manufacturers were already doing similar (cough Lian-Li cough). Also those fans are very plain looking, in a fugly homely kind of way and there are other manufacturers who make much better AIOs that work and perform far better.
You complain to much, this is an advance corsair .there not going to give you all in one box.if you cant afford it then go buy a cheaper one but dont complain on what you buy.😅😂
Why are you so butt hurt by his subjective opinion?. The guy has literally told us that he's gone and spent his own hard earned cash in order to tell us his personal experience of the kit. I mean, would you rather he kissed corsairs ass and told us that everything is great and amazing when it clearly isnt?, like all the paid tech channels on TH-cam?. I personally learn a lot from this upload
The real issue is that these people pay a premium to use Corsair just to be disappointed with the product, it's bugged, they crash, etc. Corsair has no excuse and it's funny to see butt hurt corsair fanboys like you come to their defense for no reason lol
I NEED THAT DUAL ENDED 90 DEGREE CONNECTOR BRIDGE FOR MY 1000D, SUCKS YOU CANT BUY IT SEPARTELY, THAT CABLE IN 2 DIFF SIZES WOULD BE CLUTH ALL DAY !!! --NEED COUPLERS TOO, OR MAKE LONGER CABLES, ESPECIALLY THE ANGLED ONES. THEY FORGETTING ABOUT ALL THE FULL SIZE CASES.
Hi eliasotero139, I feel your pain, they need to run the 90 degree cable production line all day/every day and start including them, haha. I expect it will improve over time, but for now, it's a bit slim on the cable offerings that we need. Good Luck, have fun and thanks for watching!!!
1 week of trying to figure this out and I come across your video...Thank you so much for explaining this better than any forums, diagrams, or even Corsair's manual. Thank you.
Hi Mugz28sc1, i'm super happy you found this video helpful!! Thanks for the feedback and appreciate your support, thanks for watching!!
Corsair must have seen this video and granted your wish!!
I bought 2 of the QX120 starter kits, and both came with the exact same cables as the aio in your video.
Same here they come with 2 cables now and have the 90s on them
Yeah I just got two starter kits and an aio lcd and they give plenty of cables now
Same!
Thanks! I am new to the channel and i am a fan of corsair products I learned a lot from your videos very good explanation
Thanks reeemooo , I am very happy you found the the videos helpful, that makes it worth doing. I very much appreciate your support! Good Luck and have lots of fun with it!! Thanks for watching!!!
I definitely agree about the cables. I'm using the 5000d case myself
they give you that cable so that way your forced to buy the cable pack for extra money like its dlc thats required to play the base game.
@@HardwareArtisanyep, I recently got QX fan pack and requested the extra cable to use 1 fan as exhaust
@HardwareArtisan how do you get that cable? I just bought this kit and I know I'm going to have to split the fans!
Corsair! Please hire this guy.
YES! this guy showed me how the cables plug-in 15:54 ,thumbs up!
They corrected the package ! In my triple pack I had two 90deg cables :)
Thanks for taking the time to respond to what some would consider an "old" video. I've been thinking about buying these fans as well and this helps finalize my decision
Any issues using the fans and ICUE link hub with AIO coolers?
hopefully they are all ironed out now cause I ordered a whole system
just ordered this AIO with the LCD screen and the new 6500x rgb case...cant wait to see how it all comes together!
Great info as always!! Could you use something like NZXT Internal USB Hub if you are using your internal USB connections already?
@@mastersarge5488 Each port on the hub can handle 7 devices, is that builder counting the pump as its own device separate from each fan?
I would like cables with Double 90 degree heads. The straight ones don't fit anywhere
Agreed!!
@HalfUnder that's what I was thinking, 🤔
So the aio will need to be on its own hub then? So, 3 hubs?
Thanks for your reply.
@MrPinkfloyd1173 Actually the do have the y splitter cable that might solve your issue. Or you could stick with 2 hubs. Aio plus it's fans, exhausts fan, plus 2 more fans going into one channel. Other 6 fans into the other channel.
@HalfUnder I see, thank you for your help man.
where do I buy the cables for this ? I need extra ones
Thanks for watching!!!
so i dont need to make a full loop connecting back to the hub, it just leads out from the hub, to the last component?
Yup u can add 7 components per line.
when everything was completed, did you use a single hub?
The USB-C is for the LCD pump head. I have the H170i LCD
So what header do you connect that tachometer cable to? Sys Fan, Pump, CPU Fan? Thx and great vid!
So the tach/rpm thing should that be attached to the AIO fan, cpu fan spot, or extra fan board connection ?
Would you be able to use this new hub to sync non corsair fans to icue??
Hi daynabatiste24, unfortunately as of right now, i'm not aware of any way to adapt non corsair (icue link) fans into this system. I've not seen any adapter cables or controllers yet.
With that said, you can adapt non-corsair RGB fans (3 pin ARGB) into the icue ecosystem using a CORE XT, CORE or lighting node core, there are a few adapater cables with that. And those controllers will sync with the iCUE LINK system just fine.
Check out these videos for details on ways to do that:

Do u think u could put loan li fans on the aio?
I cant get the icue to link with mystic light
You cant
Very good reviewing that you do you explain everything very good.
I've had such a bad experience with these fans.
1. The screw holes are slightly too small for the included screws with the kit as well as the screws with the Corsair 7000D case. This makes for an agonizing time trying to screw the fans onto the case or trays
Good luck to whoever buys the upcoming 9000D case (successor to 1000D)
I need to integrate my EK with link???
Im trying to connect 15 fans and it keeps saying port 1 sensor triggered
Hello, I have a question to see if someone can help me please. I have a 6+2 pcie cable, I can use it to connect it, only use the 6 and leave the 2 out, thank you
Sticking with my QL’s. Don’t want to have to spend hours making new profiles because the new fan module won’t accept the old ones.
Hi Justin-dy2ib, I get that! The QL's are a great fan, still being sold, I don't think they are going anywhere soon. Thanks for watching!!!
@@HardwareArtisan no problem! I like the simplicity of the QX’s but yeah. Building the right profiles can take some time, time I’d rather be doing something else 😆
I cannot get version 5 to install any tips?
You would think the radiator controller would already be connected to the radiator for the 3 fans instead of wasting a port
i just bought the case bundle and it came with 6 fans, bought another 3 pack 120mm and 3 140’s. i’ve got hubs and cables for days. i was getting annoyed at the LCD not working right either.
Thank you, you have done a good informative instruction video here
Hi rabahichadadene3484, I am happy you found this video helpful! Thanks for watching and your support!!
Hi CanadianFitted, I'm happy you found the video helpful! Thanks for watching! Good luck and remember to have fun!!!
@JonnyBeta9 I know right
At the current price of the 5000d it costs 3x the cost of the case to fully populate it with the link fans. That is silly.
@@ronhorne4930 exactly was my point
I wrote the corsair support about this and they send me a Package with 3 extra cables
Awesome! Did they charge you? I know that 3 cable kit is 50 bucks on their site.
I wonder why they went with Micro usb and not USB-C? Maybe just cheaper.
Receiving one of these tomorrow hope to god it holds for at least a year.
those connector cables really stick out way to much
The QL fans were already too expensive, but these one are just silly pricing.
D30 phanteks make way more sense
I will never but from that company ever again.
uh I agree that sleeving looks so BAD!
I’m mad this has Micro usb I don’t want any of that in my pc
I would use a bent torn up desktop case before i would buy from corsair.
I know it's a good system, but the price is too expensive.
Hi Viettzz, I can't disagree, it's pricey! Thanks for watching!!!
Not worth the price. $200+ for 3 fans $300+ for a 240 aio $70 for a single fan $70 for a cord to connect that single fan.
No thanks. I'll stick with my couple extra easily dealt with and hidden cables.
i see light suttering as hell
Corsair is really starting to piss me off with over priced, under performing hardware
I can't argue with you on that. Corsair definitely has room for improvement here!! Thanks for watching!
Here's a clue. Solve all the problems and reduce your costs and crap software, and get rid of RGB.
that pc is horrid
You complain to much, this is an advance corsair .there not going to give you all in one box.if you cant afford it then go buy a cheaper one but dont complain on what you buy.😅😂
Why are you so butt hurt by his subjective opinion?. The guy has literally told us that he's gone and spent his own hard earned cash in order to tell us his personal experience of the kit. I mean, would you rather he kissed corsairs ass and told us that everything is great and amazing when it clearly isnt?, like all the paid tech channels on TH-cam?. I personally learn a lot from this upload
Mmm we have the first baby cry here ...
