I love it when people aren’t afraid of color, and think outside the box. I live in an apartment where I’m not allowed to paint the walls. As an artist, I feel creatively constricted, so I paint lots of pictures that cover all the walls with color. Someday, I’ll own a home again, and cover the walls with murals, like Maggie did. 😊
How wonderful that you didn't allow the building rules to stop you. I'm in the same situation in LA. Both the building management AND my husband. I'm only half-way kidding about my husband.😄 One can be creative within boundaries wherever they are. Kudos to you. Let your creativity flow!
I think it's just ridiculous that landlords won't let you paint the walls. This is your home, you should be able to paint. If they want to they can require you to return it to some bland "before", but not letting people have a home they love is really harsh.

If the tenant were to paint the walls white again once they move out, it ends up looking sloppy with layer upon layer of paint. It's a lot of work to remove and repaint properly. I've lived in apartments in which dripping layers are left as is. Looks awful.

She really has gift for interior design. Nothing looks too busy and you would think with that mural it would but it doesn't. The apartment strikes me very calming and harmonious and even though it's not my particular style I really think it's gorgeous

Wall murals are absolutely amazing. They provided colors to the apartment but there is no effect of chaos. Table/desk is amazing. Personally I prefer regular desk but I understand space concerns. Storage space is great, I have less in a 2bedroom space.

This is a really fun apartment! I love the colours and cheery brightness of the space, and think she did a great job. I'm so glad that she has found work as a muralist. It is so soul-destroying when people have to live in places that are decorator beige, or boring white, if they love colour!
Love her apartment... so cozy, that I wouldn't want to leave. It maybe small, but doesn't feel claustrophobic! The best investment she made was the custom IKEA storage closet system, which with careful planning provides more storage than 2 or 3 little closets, a dresser and additional furniture. And it also balances and grounds the room. BRAVO! 🤗
You don't have a clown house . You are artistic and those colors are so cheerful. There's way too many people in the world to try and please them lol what matters is that you enjoy and like it .
I am a designer & I think your space is amazing. I love the color, the forms--the way your apartment feels alive. It feels curated & spontaneous at the same time. Your murals are amazing but your design skill is also top notch. Please don't write off design clients as your future. You can easily design the murals down to the last detail & have someone else actually do the physical work.
Maggie has utilized every inch of her apartment to the fullest. Her place is awesome and it looks a lot bigger than 320 sq. ft. She is very talented and she has made her space all her own. The colors in each of the rooms work very well and do not clash with one another. I just hope that she doesn't have to move any time soon!
Love it! I saw your old apartment video just a few days ago and I must say that your new apartment is somehow even more relaxed with a bit more sophisticated vibe. That free-flowing mural is wonderful and simply perfect. Don't ever box yourself in - there are many options and skills and niches for designers. You'll do fine! Thx for the tour!
I LOVE the mural, but if it was MY space, I would use a closed small buffet cabinet with doors to hide the bar items, as I personally feel that all the visible small items detract attention from the focal point that is the mural and makes the small space feel a little claustrophobic. There is no ‘negative space’ for the eye to rest on when there are too many smaller decor or even functional pieces out in view. Very creative and fun space, though!
@apartment therapy I’ve noticed some of your more recent videos are doing an excellent job of: 1. Actually showing the entire space 2. Slowly panning so the viewers can actually see everything 3. Getting the homeowners to share where they store all their stuff 4. Getting the homeowners to share how they navigate their space to make it work (ex. Drop-leaf table as a desk, Ikea built-ins for storage, even the floor plan insert made my heart skip a little bit 🤓) Thank you for the attention to detail and all the effort you put into bringing high quality content.

Smart use of space. It has everything needed in a Home. Sofa, stool bench with storage, kitchen island, love the folding work table, and love, love the dinette table. (I can’t imagine having my meal on a kitchen counter.) how nice to be able to have a proper meal on a lovely table. Cabinet for clothes are very well organized. Sorry but I wouldn’t put my shoes in the same cabinet with clothes. Shoes smell and are dirty. Personally I would keep my shoes in a separate cabinet. All else are great. Bathroom is neat.
