Talking about real life trends is so much more appreciated than internet/runway trends. That stuff comes and goes in an instant, it's not practical or reasonable to expect people to follow those trends. I care much more about what everyone is actually wearing in real life, because those things will stick around for years and I don't have to worry about wasting my money on things that will only get worn once before "going out of style". 🙄 LOVE the wide leg trousers trend, I tried a pair on the other day and they look great and really are comfortable!
More videos on these real-life trends, please! We're so used to seeing fashion based on what influencers wear online, and most often they're not applicable to our reality (and they always wear new clothes so it seems like they almost have no personal style at all). It's so refreshing and grounding in a way to see what people actually wear in real life.
I hope the chunky 90s boots never go out of style! I love them. I'm looking for comfy sneakers for my upcoming Europe trip for days when I know I'll be walking all over the city. Thanks for the ideas! I remember seeing your Vans everywhere last time I was there so it's good to see they're still on trend. I'm thinking of getting a pair now!
I’ve been around many years. These trends make the rounds every few years. I’ve “ been there, done that” with all of these “new” styles. I’m sticking with classics now. Less expensive and better for the environment than trends.
@@jessicaqu There isnt really any difference between trends and classics. No one could say Doc Martens are not a classic. they are the ultimate classic. So is a leather jacket. But they are also trends.
Wonderfully thoughtful content as always! But also wanted to mention how beautiful that blue is on you! (Did have a bit of the The Devil Wears Prada cerulean monolgue running through my head, hehe)
The overwhelming feeling I get whenever Paris style is mentioned is uniformity. It was exactly the same when I lived there, a couple of decades ago, and whenever I visit. Women follow trends and the majority dress in a similar way, with very few colors. Everywhere, it's a sea of black, grey and denim, especially in winter, with cute hair styles and comfy shoes. That's Paris life for you, you have to be practical because you walk everywhere and you don't want your hair in the way because it gets caught in the metal railings on the subway (ask me how I know). I'm a French woman, but I really don't understand what all the fuss is about Paris style, to be honest. It has not really evolved in thirty years. Don't trust the street style pictures of celebs and fashion editors, these do not reflect the reality. Summer style is a bit better, as it allows for more colors. I live in Brittany, where the style is mostly comfortable and classic, with a bit more color (and a lot of Breton stripes, that's not a cliché) but nothing really fancy.
I tend towards an eclectic wardrobe and dress for the environment. I work as a substitute high school teacher so I’d look silly wearing classic chanel, for example. I’m a full figure girl. T shirts, yoga pants, and cropped tops just don’t look good on my figure. I do have various style jeans including the “grunge style” presently trending with young Americans. Im long past wearing stiletto heels. My age and aching feet don’t allow it. So platform sandals and Birkenstocks in warm weather and Doc Martens and Uggs suit me for cold. I also have converse sneakers! I like wearing natural fibers, cotton, linen, wool, etc, it must be comfy while working. I observe what’s out there but I have to be me. I don’t wear designer clothes bc it never fit my budget or style. And I’ll never wear a designer bag-mine are more the Mary popping variety-very big and I can cram everything into it!-But I do enjoy taking style tips from Audrey Coyne. And I love seeing the street style in Paris. ❤️
I think it depends where you live in Paris too. High end girls dress very differently from middle class or lower class as well. French fashion is also very social level oriented but mostly as a Parisian girl I’d say, that we like elegance over trend. Having lived in LA for a few years, fashion is extremely « what’s in right now » and it can be a festival of whatever. French people will always opt for something that will outlast any trend. Thus why it feels like a n’uniformisa but French people are great at accessorizing as well. So one outfit can be extremely versatile. But I think what sets apart the Parisian look from everyone else’s is the attitude. Fashion is really in the DNA of many here so it becomes a part of you and as a part of you it’s noticed but without being in your face. It’s also the language, the way of walking, the way of sitting at a cafe. It’s so much more than just your clothes.
Thank you so much for posting this. I love the general French chic aesthetic, but the past couple seasons have been dispiriting as the silhouettes and a lot of the colour trends don't work for my body or complexion. The issue with fashion trends is that at any given time a look, silhouette or colour palette is only going to flatter a few body shapes and skin tones. The shops are clogged with these items leaving us with the choice of buying something that doesn't suit or to walk away empty handed. I think this really fuels the cycle of endless buying and rapid discarding of clothing, which is perhaps what the industry is after. If it weren't for vintage shops I don't know what I'd be wearing these days!
Agree! Trends can be fun if it is calling your name. You need to wear clothes that align with your personality VR go with the crowd. I recently bought High waist loose jeans, yes it is in trend right now but it is perfect for my pear body shape and I love them so much!
Yeah, street sneakers (Adidas, Nike, Vans, etc.) have never *not* been a thing in European countries. What I think they might mean is those literal "dad-style" gym shoes you'd wear on the treadmill, paired with patterned pajama bottoms or something.
@@Surreal452 Yeah the trick is to wear those really nice pretty sneakers with a "going out for lunch outfit" instead of "I'm dressed for the gym" outfit. That said, chunky sneakers with a bit of platform that look like they'd win in a fight are also in lol 😂 but they tend to be worn by under 25s
@@sarahberney exactly what I was about to say. Sneakers/trainers/what have you have been a staple in France for many, many years. Same in Italy. People should've said don't wear "American dad sneakers" because it's true that this has a only become fashionable/acceptable when out and about for a couple of years only.
Thank you. It was good to see plaited (braided?) hair in some of the images. It's a style I use often because of living by the sea, which means it's frequently windy and my hair needs to be kept out of my face. It's also a great style if your hair has a variety of tones in it.
I love wide leg pants but have not worn them as much in recent years because I do think that you have to be mindful of the length and what shoes you will wear them with. If it’s wet outside the bottoms of pants can act as wicks. If they are very wide skinnier heels can get caught up in them.
Yes...in big european cities like Paris,London and Berlin (OMG Berlin) styles are so diversified and personal. As if each person is unique and not a copy of what you see in magazines and on the net. They own their style with confidence.
Dear Marie, you obviously forgot to mention Italy! Particularly very stylish are the ladies in northern Italy. Towns like Verona, Treviso, Parma, Brescia do scream "elegance" in every corner! Milan used to be inspirational, nowadays ppl wear awfully expensive design items which are just trash. A pair of jogging pants, no matter when Gucci or other trendy "maisons" remain a pair of jogging pants. 🇮🇹😹

I think a big reason is that in cities like London or Berlin, when you wear your own style and it fits you, people praise you, while in other places people look at you uncomfortable, like "why are you wearing that? nobody else does!".

Love the change I see in you Audrey. You look lovely with your hair pinned up..very fresh and cute. I'm actually enjoying wearing sneakers myself nowadays, soo comfortable. Great video....thx xx
So interesting. I just got back from Rome. I noticed the looser pants & jeans and lots of sneakers of every variety. Maybe because the weather was still quite warm, few people were wearing outerwear & I didn’t notice many of the heavy lug sole shoes.
My favorite thing about travel is the opportunity to people-watch and get a feel for how residents live in that city/country/culture-including, of course, fashion! Thank you for sharing your observations!
Don’t listen to people who don’t like your blue jumper. It looks great! We’re used to seeing you in neutrals, so it’s bound to look different - but that’s good! You’re young - it’s time to stick to neutrals when you get older. Keep having fun with colour.
Who says you can only wear neutral when you're older? I'm 68; my base color is black, but I wear a lot of colored tops, too, especially with blue jeans. In fact, I bought a cashmere sweater that exact blue this fall. My color choice depends on the circumstances. Lunch with family? Medium to light blue or pink. Out shopping on a bright day? I might break out my yellow sweater. Cozy dinner with friends at Christmas? Red, or dark green. I'm old, not dead.
Thank you so much for sharing your findings with us and all these lovely inspiration photos! I am really loving the looser fit, relaxed straight leg pant styles that are mid to high rise! They are so flattering on so many people and I find that with a higher rise fitted in the hip, I can still wear my looser tops and not look so baggy. I really only go for slightly oversized anyway but the pants are so comfortable to spend time at home and also it’s very important for me as a homeschooling mom. I also really love the leather jackets! I have a brown bomber, a black leather blazer and black leather trench with a slight puff sleeve, all thrifted, that are just lovely pieces and get so many compliments, but best of all is I love them and I am comfortable in them. One of my favorite times to go thrift shopping is actually on Wednesdays when several shops are doing 50% off the store because I see a lot of very stylish people looking for new treasures, and it’s a really great experience to see what people are wearing in real life. I am from North Idaho where very few people actually have personal style. Most people wear the same outfit formulas and types of clothing. but, that narrative seems to be changing with all the new residence we are getting! But what’s interesting is a lot of people are moving here and ditching their fashionable items for very basic things so the thrift stores are full of goodies for those of us looking for a unique style. I really pay attention to how people dress and what they find most practical because it matters to be functional!
Yes, to all of these. I would also add that another big trend here in Paris this season is sherpa and teddy bear - coats, vests, jackets, and even on purses. Checks are big too this season. Thoughtful details are generally a big part of fashion throughout France, rural or not. Great places to pick up these pieces inexpensively while in Paris are BHV, & Other Stories Marais (they offer pieces not available elsewhere or online), and Uniqlo Marais. For more upscale shopping, consider La Samaritaine, Galeries Lafayette, or my personal fav, Bon Marché as they are pet-friendly too.

Lovely video - one of your best ! Enjoy seeing real-life personal style , not trends , and various takes on classics too . The looser jeans & full-length pants are so much more flattering to more body types ; it's also nice that you showed so many options , head-to-toe, that are practical & comfortable as well .
Hi Audrey: I think this video is spot-on and am sooo very glad you have touched on these topics. I have watched your videos from a long time ago to present. This one of your Paris trip is so refreshing and exciting as I simply due to enconomics, didn't want to shorten my very good slacks and low and behold the trend is coming back for the full length and more lose fitting jeans also that the boot cut jeans are trending is great. There was a time, not that long ago, that you wouldn't be able to find a pair. I have longed for a few pairs of them as they go great with my personaly designed western boots from Alberta Canada. You have a very good practical fashion sense by adding a few new pieces to make new looks with your classic looks. The trend of the chunky Doc Martins is both an added feature to fashion, as well as, very practical. The fact to see the sneekers making a strong stand is great as they are very easy to pull a look together but also are so good to wear and walk in. I agree there are so many types of sneekers that one is not limited any longer. Stop by again, Audrey!!! (LizG) Cheers!!!! Elizabeth Gardner
I loved your hair pulled back. It looked charming. I just cannot get behind he who lug sole look. I see Frankenstein when people wear them. Could you please reference a few places in the US that carry the full looking pants? Also, I would love to see how they are styling short hair there. Thanks!
Audrey this was more helpful than you can imagine. Working in an office all my life all I have are suits. No longer working. I need a fresh updated look. I like classics but I also like funky clothes. This might be a good next video for you. Please help lol
Hi I live in Paris and just in case anyone is wondering about what bags French girls are *really* carrying in Paris I suggest this little list: nat&nin, Valet de Pique, Polene, Lancaster, The Kooples and sometimes Isabel Marant. Occasionally at the more affluent end I see some Coach, Longchamp, Celine, Chloe, Gucci and Chanel. But honestly, they're quite rare. The people referenced in this video are mostly really rich influencers. You don't see many Birkins and Kellys at all, no.
Please do more of these real life trend videos! I don't like looking on Pinterest because everything is an aesthetic, but not really realistic to wear. I also have to give you credit for not just including hair, but textured hair.
I've worn Doc Martens for decades and I love them! The old classics, even high heel ones, I have pairs that must be 20 years old, but I can't do the chunky ones. Any chunky boots/shoes, especially if the sole is the same colour as the upper. I'm a 43EU/11US, and I end up looking like I'm wearing oversized clown boots! A bit sad about it 'cause I like the look on other people but I also tell myself that I'm saving money! 😂
Nice to know that as a 60+ yr old grandma, I’m a trendsetter, bc I’ve been collecting “essential” Doc Martens over the last 3 years. I’ve always loved the look, but they weren’t practical for me as a SAHM. Now that I work on a high school, I fit right in….and who knew, I’d fit right in in Paris too. 😊 And thank goodness that the 1940s trousers are coming back too. So glamorous, comfy, and polished. Glad that someone has seen some sense. We can’t all look good in skinny clothes, but most people look good in looser clothing. And also glad that I saved my leather and suede goodwill-found jackets so I can “update” my outfits again!
Great video, thank you, I love all the examples you gave of the different trends, the cobalt blue jumper/sweater looks great on you, I love this colour in all seasons
As a petite woman, I personally would go with a high-waisted pair and wear them with a slim-fitting petite-length top to balance out the volume. I'd also wear chunky shoes for extra height.
As someone who is 5'2", I would only wear moderate leg trousers, and long, to wear with heels at least 2" tall. You need the extra length in the leg if you're going to indulge in wide legs. I would also ignore the advice below to wear chunky shoes unless you want to look clumsy. The big-foot look is never attractive.
Doc martens are in the metro Detroit Area. They are cute , however Due to hip issues, I wear moccasins barefoot shoes . These doc martens bring back memories in the 90s, my ankle black doc martens. Thank you for inviting and interesting fashion insights. I can tell you have a handle on what colors that bring your natural coloring.
Vintage style - 90s! I really am getting old. I had to stop and calculate....where the hell did the last 30+ years go? Also big yeah to DMs. Had a hip replacement 2 years ago and I cannot wear heels any more. I am now 'Paris fit'!
I wore loose pants (Victoria Beckham) with sneakers to a business meeting in LA last week. I should have gone to Paris instead. I was definitely not on trend in LA. But I was comfortable and happy with the look.
Have Docs ever really gone out of style? Not in NYC! 🖤 Loving lug soles on an overall sleeker silhouette for a tall boot this season. I invested in 2 pairs and could've bought more if the budget allowed for them ... so many choices! (Spoiled for choice is never a bad thing, right?) Thanks for this video.
These trends going on are my happy place. I am fighting the urge to buy multiples of absolutely everything out of fear that I am going to wake up to find we have gone back to skinny everything and I won’t be able to find what I like anymore 😆
I am happy you have such a fresh and enthusiastic impression from Paris, Audrey! But those trends show that Paris is no longer a capital of elegance, unfortunately 😔 I'm shocked, every time I'm there, how often street trends express: 'I don't care '.

This is the 1st video that popped up in my recommendation, I really enjoy your soothing charismatic personality. Really enjoyable to watch you got yourself a new subscriber. Looking forward for your future content! 😊
Great video, Audrey! Thanks!
This might be my favorite video you’ve done. Thank you!❤
Love the leather jacket variety!
Lovely video - one of your best ! Enjoy seeing real-life personal style , not trends , and various takes on classics too . The looser jeans & full-length pants are so much more flattering to more body types ; it's also nice that you showed so many options , head-to-toe, that are practical & comfortable as well .
I LOVED this video!
I loved this!
You are such a sweetheart. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you! And, I love your hair!
I love this! Thank you!!!
IM GOING TO FRANCE IN MAY THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤
Hi Audrey: I think this video is spot-on and am sooo very glad you have touched on these topics.
Thanks!
Thanks, Audrey. Your videos are always so enjoyable. Enjoy Autumn 2022! 😁
That blue is gorgeous on you, and your hair has grown a lot...beautiful!
Great video. The photos illustrated the trends, as you spoke about them, so well. Thanks for sharing your trip, and your thoughts!
You look amazing in blue ❤
Love all of these! ❤
I just bought a cashmere sweater the exact color you're wearing!
Audrey this was more helpful than you can imagine. Working in an office all my life all I have are suits. No longer working. I need a fresh updated look. I like classics but I also like funky clothes. This might be a good next video for you. Please help lol
My favorite city!! Try to make it there 2 times a year
I love videos like this with lots of different images. I hope in the future you include more diverse body shapes, though
can you share as idea how petite lady look taller in dressing and what you advise us to wear to look taller
And Jacquemus*
@FeedMeLies De rien 🌞
I love Polene !
I live in Toronto and Ive been seeing the same trends! great video
So lovely ! Thank you..
Please do more of these real life trend videos! I don't like looking on Pinterest because everything is an aesthetic, but not really realistic to wear. I also have to give you credit for not just including hair, but textured hair.
You do dress very Parisian anyway, so you fitted in very well I would imagine 🥰❤️🇬🇧xxx
Very helpful, I think it’s so nice to see what others are wearing. 😊🎃
Thank you!! Who makes good wide tailored pants please??
When you talk about sneakers, fit is everything. I can't wear some types of shoes, sneakers especially.
And thank goodness that the 1940s trousers are coming back too. So glamorous, comfy, and polished. Glad that someone has seen some sense. We can’t all look good in skinny clothes, but most people look good in looser clothing. And also glad that I saved my leather and suede goodwill-found jackets so I can “update” my outfits again!
wow... I love your blue turtle neck!
You are simply the Best 💕💕💕
🥰🥰🥰
Great video, thank you, I love all the examples you gave of the different trends, the cobalt blue jumper/sweater looks great on you, I love this colour in all seasons
Bonjour. How to wear baggy or lose jean when you are "petite" AND round? Merci
I love the blue turtle neck sweater, do you remember where you found it? The video was informative thanks
Vintage style - 90s! I really am getting old. I had to stop and calculate....where the hell did the last 30+ years go? Also big yeah to DMs. Had a hip replacement 2 years ago and I cannot wear heels any more. I am now 'Paris fit'!
What I can't believe is that 2000s is considered vintage style now!
I was just thinking this morning, it seems like 30 years has flown by.
Thank you 🤗
I wore loose pants (Victoria Beckham) with sneakers to a business meeting in LA last week. I should have gone to Paris instead. I was definitely not on trend in LA. But I was comfortable and happy with the look.
You have such a pretty smile
Do you have any videos on tights such as the translucent tights?
That's blue looks greath on you
Love this!
Just came across "Street Style in Stockholm" channel and the latest video is "October in Stockholm" and chunky soles are a trend, there, too.
It is, definitely as for Malmö and Copenhague too.
Hi Audrey is the blue turtleneck on you itchy at all? I saw that it's wool. Looks so pretty.
Not for me personally :) it’s very comfortable and not too thick but still warm ❤
Fine merino wool is not itchy at all. I have some and love them but could never wear a regular wool sweater.
Interesting! This is how people dress where I live as well. :)
Hi Audrey! Did you see those Veja sneakers?
Have Docs ever really gone out of style? Not in NYC! 🖤 Loving lug soles on an overall sleeker silhouette for a tall boot this season. I invested in 2 pairs and could've bought more if the budget allowed for them ... so many choices! (Spoiled for choice is never a bad thing, right?) Thanks for this video.
Praying low rise skinny jeans NEVER come back....love the pleated trouser.
thanks to Instagram we all look the same all over the world!
Ok, gotta stop the video 25 seconds in. That blue looks amazing on you!! Now back to the video.
Watched the beginning first 15 seconds at least 5 times because own a leather blazer but wasn't sure how it should be styled. 🤗
French style never see!
Street style is dominant everywhere now
I agree totally with the sneakers, but javing a long foot,i don't find the chunky shoes flattering!🥰
love ur voice.
So basically my wardrobe is trending in Paris ❤❤❤
